1. German students‘ „blog“ about the mobility in Lugo
Arrival Sunday 06.11.2016(JasminBockenfeld)
Firstwe met punctually at 10 o’clock at the airportof Düsseldorf. After we
handed in our suitcases, we went through the security check. There weren’t
any problems first, but then Leon’s backpack had to be checked. Finally the
security man found a “weapon” ( scissors) in his things, which he
packed accidentally together with his case. When we cleared this problem
and Leon left his scissors behind, wewent to the area wherewe could wait. So
we waited about an hour and in this time we explored the airportand bought
some things. Then boarding was at 11.30.
After a flight of 2.5 hours welanded in Madrid. There we had a stay of about
four hours. In this time we explored the airportauf Madrid also, did some
shopping, ate something and sat together. At about 18 o’clock wecould go on
board again and fly about an hour to Santiago de Compostela.
After we picked up our suitcases, therewaited a minibus to bring us to our
hotel in Lugo. We all were very glad and happy that there weren’tany
problems or turbulences during our flights, but then we had a very exciting
ride with this minibus, because our bus driver drovevery confidently and fast
through the small and twisting streets. Finally we all arrived safely at about
21.30 atour hotel, we broughtour baggage in our apartments, had a good
dinner at the restaurantand ended our evening together.
Monday, 07.11.2016(Jessy Lau)
After breakfastwemet at School at 9 o'clock. Firstwe got a tour through the
schooland we saw different rooms like the library, the gym, chemistry room
and the cafeteria. In the auditorium the principal greeted us and some
powerpointpresentations about the Erasmus+projectand Spanish education
system werepresented. After a little break, wewent to the library and got
divided in six groups with different students from differentcountries. We
worked out similarities and differences of softskills in the different countries
and we presented them. After we ate in the cafeteria, we went to the city
center and visited the cathedral and the roman wall. After this weplayed some
2. icebreaking games in the gym. Then we had two hours freetime. Around 8 pm
we ate dinner and then wepracticed the pirate dance for Wednesday.
3. Tuesday, 8thNovember (DavidBeuting)
After Breakfastwewent to the Spanish Highschoolwherewe were going to
meet at 9 o’clock justlike the day before. We
planned to visit a local Spanish company.
The company is called “AMS Lab”. There we went
by bus and were welcomed by the manager. He
told us in his talk that AMS Lab specialises in
chemical and physicalanalyses and gaveus a
precise insightin the philosophy of the company
as well as the routine processes.
Following this, we changed from theory in
practice and had the opportunity to havea look in
the working sections of the enterprise. In
4. different groups wewatched the chemical tests laboratory, the test analysis
room, the physicallaboratory and the instrumentalroom. Enclosed, the
functions and unknown devices weredescribed in detail to us. In the end
severalsnacks and drinks wereoffered and we said goodbyeto the managers.
At 12.30 wewent further by bus up the mountains to the famous pilgrims path
“Camino de Santiago” that was situated higher in the mountains. We got off in
O Cebreio, a little village with traditional stone houses which the Camino
crosses. Therewas an unusualsurprisefor us: Itwas snowing and one could
see snow on roofs and mountains everywhere! So, we had to adapt to really
cold temperatures. Fortunately, we were prepared to those conditions because
we woreappropriatewinter clothes. Besides the historical houses wealso
visited a small church. Thereby we were able to receive someinteresting facts
by Paco who was leading us along the Camino. Then everybody was happy to
recover at a comfortablecafé nearby. In addition to the welcome heat we
could enjoy our sandwiches which had been prepared at school.
After a shortbus ride we explored another part of the path by footand came to
the monastery “Mostiero de San Xiao” in Samos. Herewe were led by a woman
through all the rooms and got informed about the pastand the historical
background of the building. We got some exciting impressions owing to
pictures on the wall and holy relics.
5. Around 17.00 wereturned to Lugo and got dinner. A novelty was that all the
students stayed among themselves and therefore had the occasion to get to
know new people fromother countries. Thus it has become a very interesting
evening that terminated the day in a
perfect way.
6. Wednesday 9.11.2016 (Lea Gerwing)
We started the day with the very sweet breakfast. After that we went to school
and formed- two groups. In those groups we walked to a room where the
Spanish pupils already waited for us to present their country and the region
Galicia. They told us about Spanish food, Spanish traditions and other typical
regional things. After their presentations they tried to teach us some Spanish
and Galician language which was very funny.
When they finished we had a little break and after that we all met in the
auditorium to listen to presentations of three entrepreneurs, who told us about
important skills you need to be a good employee. We learned that the perfect
employee should be, amongst other things, motivated, punctual, optimistic,
flexible and intelligent.
After lunch in school, by the way like every day we ate fries, we went to the
gym to show our prepared dance to the other students. Every country
prepared a dance and the others had to learn the dances. Itwas very funny, but
the gym was colder than it was outside. Our dance was the “Piratentanz”.
When it was 6 PM we finished dancing and had freetime for the next two
hours. We used this freetime to explore Lugo. We found some nice shops
where we went shopping and after our little tour we went back to the hotel to
have dinner. At dinner we talked with the French people who were really
funny, but then after dinner we all were really tired so that we went back to
our apartment to calm down.
It was a nice day !
7. Thursday, 10 November 2016 (JohannaVöcker)
After we had a delicious breakfast, wewent to schoolwhere the bus was
already waiting for us. The bus took us to ̎CEI-Nodus ̎ which is a bit out of town.
Nowadays many young companies havethe chance to get on their feet in the
former military building. There they are supported financially and get advice by
specialists. They can stay there for four years until they have to look for a new
office to create spacefor new start-up companies. We had the chanceto look
into some offices during a guided tour, amongstothers into the laboratory
whereAmslab started. Nowadays thereis a laboratory which is specialized in
biogenetics but they have already planned to moveinto a bigger office.
Next to this istthe ̎espazo de orientaciόn laboral ̎ giving advice to job seekers
and young people and the center for European contacts like the Erasmus+
project.
After a shortbreak in the cafeteria the bus droveus to Santiago de
Compostela. There we had the chance to visit the famous cathedral which is
the destination of thousands of pilgrims. The cathedral is on the gravesideof
the apostle Jakob and it includes his relics. In front of the altar is the 1.60m
high censer ̎Botafumeiro ̎ which is swung around on festive days pulled by
eight men.
Before we droveback to Lugo, we had somefree time which mostof us used to
buy some souvenirs or to try some specialities.

9. Friday, 11 November (LeonSamuel Icking)
Friday started with finishing our presentations about the "IdealWorker" at
9:35. Itwas aboutplanning a perfect worker with the different ideas we had
got fromthe representatives of Cetal, AMS Labs and Cloud Computers. Wehad
to get creative with paper and plasticine becausewe were not allowed to use
PowerPointor some kind of projector. We added the different ideas we had
gathered fromMonday as well. This work phasewas doneat 11:15 and we
started to presentour results to the restof the participants of this project.
All of us had made really creative posters butonly one could win. So we voted
and came to the conclusion that the "octopus poster" was the best.
Afterwards, wehad a little break and were invited to the town hall. The mayor
greeted us and held a speech, telling us that weare always welcome to Lugo
and that young people are really important to the town.
10. But shehad to leave due to an important meeting. Her representative stayed
so we could ask some questions about Lugo and whatthey are doing for the
citizens. After that, we went to Lugo's museum and got a little tour about the
history of Lugo with the circumstances of living and different pieces of art that
were painted in Lugo.
At the end, all of us received a presentwhich was an art book aboutpaintings
and nature and another one about Lugo. Then we wentback to the schooland
everybody gotassigned to a Spanish studentto spend the rest of the day with.
11. My studentcalled Juan took me to "Don Mac" for dinner.
After that, we walked to the football field with David, Samuel and somemore
friends of them to play some football.
We had a lot of fun but we got tired after sometime, that's why wevisited the
"Praza Maior" and the "Circulo de las Artes". Samuel had to leave due to his
football training for the match on the next day. They told us about a restaurant
near this place where wecould get someoctopus to eat. Itsounded very
interesting because we havenever eaten octopus before.
The octopus tasted different than anything I had eaten beforeand it was
delicious. We thanked our hosts for the nice afternoon and went back to the
hotel to spend some time with the Croatian and Romanian students because
there were leaving that night. It was great to have a last talk with all those
people but we had to say goodbyeto our new friends at 23:00.
12. Departure 12.11.2016 (Jasmin Bockenfeld)
The last day we met at 10 o’clock again, after we packed and had a great
breakfast for the last time in our hotel. Then the other members of the
project,
who hadn’t departed yet, said goodbye and then we drove with the minibus
to the airport of Santiago de Compostela again. This time our ride was
much more relaxed and we arrived about 11.45. Afterwards we handed in ou
suitcases again, went through the security check and explored the airport,
until boarding was at 13 o’clock.
We flew about an hour and landed in Madrid. This time we had a stay of
about five hours, so we decided to take the metro to the city. There we
hadn’t got very much time, but we visited some beautiful buildings (photo:
National Library) and
places and bought something in a snack bar. At 18 o’clock we were back
at the airport and only had to wait for a short time till we could go on
board again.
Our flight to Düsseldorf took only two hours and at the airport our
parents were already waiting to take us home after this great and
exciting week.
