Following a marginally up opening, markets trimmed gains in afternoon session and moved to trade in negative territory
on negative European cues before closing flat. Experts feel that the traders are anxious ahead of the winter session of
parliament.
T h e market breadth on the BSE closed in negative. Advancing and declining stocks were 1045 and 1799
respectively, while 121 scrips remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 18329.32, down 9.68 points or 0.05%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of
18467.91 and 18255.69 respectively. 13 stocks advanced against 17 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.15 points or 0.00% to settle at 5571.55. The index touched high and low of 5613.70 and
5548.35 respectively. 18 stocks advanced against 31 declining ones on the index.
Sensex Nifty
The BSE Mid-cap index moved down to 6548.63 and lost 0.76% while Small-cap index hammered down by 0.88% to
6988.46.
The broader BSE 500 index decreased to 7082.19 (down 0.30%) and S&P CNX 500 index declined to 4428.40 (down
0.20%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 5.22% at 15.81 from its previous close of 16.68 on Monday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Automobile (up 0.64%), Consumer Durables (up 0.11%) and Healthcare (up 0.09%) were
the top gainers.
Real Estate (down 3.02%), Oil & Gas (down 0.88%) and Metals (down 0.73%) were the top losers.
The Angels and the Devils
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (up 3.25%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (up 2.02%), Tata Power
Company Ltd (up 1.81%), Wipro Ltd (up 1.09%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (up 0.98%) were the top gainers
on the Sensex.
Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.86%), Infosys Ltd (down 1.46%), Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 1.39%), State Bank of India
(down 1.39%) and Reliance Industries Ltd (down 1.27%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (26.88 points), Reliance Industries Ltd (-20.80 points), Infosys Ltd (-
