1. Markets rise marginally ahead of RIL Q2 numbers

Markets opened flat and drifted lower in the morning session. The indices trimmed losses in afternoon trade on
European cues and began to trade in green. Investors are now looking up to the Q2 results of Reliance Industries to
be disclosed later today. Sensex closed above 18700 to end the day with marginal gains.
Dampening the scope for an interest-rate cut, India's headline inflation, measured by the wholesale price index (WPI),
unexpectedly climbed to its 10 months high level at 7.81% for the month of September 2012, as compared to 7.55%
(Provisional) for August. The much awaited figure is however, lower than the rate of 10% during the corresponding
month of the previous year. July inflation is revised upwards to 7.52% v/s 6.87% earlier. (News)
Stock of the DB realty rallied 5% (BSE) on reports of the big bull Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s firm acquiring stake in the

The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1514 and 1351 respectively,

The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7222.15 (up 0.12%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4511.85 (up 0.13%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 3.58% at 15.90 from its previous close of 16.49 on Friday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, FMCG (up 0.75%), Oil & Gas (up 0.53%) and Real Estate (up 0.52%) were the top
gainers.
Consumer Durables (down 0.84%), Information Technology (down 0.76%) and Automobile (down 0.30%) were the top
losers.

Hindalco Industries Ltd. (up 1.83%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (up 1.55%), Cipla Limited (up 1.44%), Bharti

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (down 2.46%), Infosys Limited (down 1.25%), Sterlite Industries (India) Limited (down
