dragged the markets from intraday highs to close with modest gains of about 0.5%. Emkay Global Financial Services has continued
its downward journey and hit the lower circuit of 10% yet again for the third straight day.
Meanwhile, overseas direct investment (ODIs) by Indian companies fell by 30 per cent to $1.36 billion in September 2012 over the
previous month, both under the automatic route and the approval route. As per the RBI’s data the domestic firms invested a sum

Back to markets, the market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1540 and 1319 respectively,
while 153 scrips remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 18793.36, up 84.38 points or 0.45%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 18885.84 and
18722.05 respectively. 19 stocks advanced against 11 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty gained 28.60 points or 0.50% to settle at 5704.60. The index touched high and low of 5728.65 and 5677.90
respectively. 31 stocks advanced against 19 declining ones on the index.
Sensex Nifty
The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6680.80 and gained 0.47% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.33% to 7157.38.
The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7239.27 (up 0.49%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4523.25 (up 0.52%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 2.15% at 16.80 from its previous close of 17.17 on Monday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Consumer Durables (up 1.47%), Healthcare (up 1.14%) and Information Technology (up 1.10%) were the
top gainers.
Oil & Gas (down 0.45%), Power (down 0.08%) and Automobile (down 0.04%) were the top losers.
The Angels and the Devils
Larsen And T oubro Limited (up 2.06%), Infosys Limited (up 1.85%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (up 1.62%), Sterlite
Industries (India) Limited (up 1.59%) and Hindustan Unilever Limited (up 1.46%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
GAIL (India) Limited (down 2.77%), Bharti Airtel Limited (down 1.83%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.62%), Bharat Heavy
Electricals Limited (down 1.52%) and Tata Motors Limited (down 0.95%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

Infosys Limited (26.75 points), Larsen And Toubro Limited (21.59 points), ICICI Bank (16.39 points), ITC Limited (13.03 points) and
HDFC Bank (10.79 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.

Pivot, Supports and Resistance Levels
S&P CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 5704 for next session. The next support is at 5679 and on upside it has a resistance at 5730 levels.
