Solution
For this discussion, I have chosen ITC (Indian Tobacco Company), one of the largest FMCG
firm in India. It was started in 18th century by Britishers as Imperial Tobacco Corporation, after
independence the name is changed to Indian Tobacco Company. At those times, they were
mainly focused on selling of Tobacco and related products like cigars, Bedis, Gutkas, Parags and
so on. But now ITC is one of the largest diversified firm, and they were in many of the business
like:
and so on. Now its market capitalization is more than 3lakh crores in Indian rupees.
The environment existed in ITC is employee friendly, and most of the decisions they were taken
are resulting in great output to ITC as well as to the society. They are perorming many CSR
(Corporate Social Responsibility) activities for the welfare and development of society.
When it comes to external conditions like economic, technological, demographic, and social-
cultural, ITC is able to lead or manage all these in succesful way. Economically, they are good
and growing company in India, by diversifying to different products and markets, they are in a
position to enjoy the market leadership in many aspects. Technologically, the techniques they
followed, the state of the art technology are good supportive functions to them and enjoying the
market leadership in these areas. They covered most of the people by offering different products,
and good managing of all kinds of customers. And finally, they always encourages multi-
cultural/ cross cultural activities in the firm as well as out of the firm.
The HR team works in ITC is much more elaborate in nature, they not only focused on present
needs of the firm, but also the future prospects to the firm. They not only focused on traditional
HR activities but also engaged in innovative activities in employee motivation, performing
various activities for employee satisfaction and so on. These are additional activities along the
regular activities like- recruitment, selection, induction, placement, performance appraisal,
promotions, and reta.

How you will respond empathetically, ethically, and legally to famil.pdf
1. How you will respond empathetically, ethically, and legally to family emergencies or families in
crisis. Include safe intervention strategies in your plan for these unexpected circumstances for
families with children both with and without exceptionalities.
Solution
Crisis Management is a critical consideration that has evidently engulfed almost every
conceivable aspects and matters of human life including different circumstantial scenarios. The
unpredictability of these situations certainly makes it even more difficult and critical to
undertake any planned and organized crisis management strategies that can effectively and
comprehensively ward off the predicaments. Now,commonly, both from a theoretical and
practical standpoint, crisis management strategies encompass wide range of considerations and
challenges such as empathy, distributive equity or equal ethical consideration for all affected by
any crisis, legal complexities that might facilitate or inhibit the process of crisis
management/handling,moral responsibilities of various third parties in this whole crisis
management activity and so forth. These factors importantly determines the overall effectiveness
or pervasiveness of the crisis management efforts and further reflects the extent of long term
resilience that mankind can be potentially capale of.In this contextual analysis,we can explore
some of these issues or factors with reference to the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe which is
real incident that still awaits permanent resolution. In light of this event,we can discuss different
ways crisis management strategies have been implemented and what further could be done to
improve the ongoing efforts.
First, the European Migrant Crisis basically culminated with the unrestrained migration of mostly
asylum seekers and economic migrants to the European Union(EU) from countries across
Mediterranean Sea such as Syria,Lybia,Iraq,Afghanistan etc.Innumerable number of
families(mainly Sunni muslim) have to relocate desperately to the European countries such as
Italy,France,Germany,Netherlands etc. due to persistent economic and political turmoil and
issues with terrorism. From an empathetic point of view and UN mandates, these countries have
been obligated to provide accomodation, food and medical assitance to the families who are
coming in large numbers and increasing progressively. In this regard, the international community
has acknoweldged the empathetic conducts exhibited towards the hapless refugee families by
countries such as France,Germany,Netherlands and Italy. However, there have been several
reports of infrastructural insufficieny, missing family members, unrecorded and abondoned
refugee children, overcapacity of people resulting in family disintegration causing pain, anxiety
and immense psychological distress among family members. In this regard, the respective
2. countries have to extend and realign their empathetic responsbilities to combat these unfortunate
situations. As some of the remmedial measures, individual countries can increase the number of
refugee camps in outskirts of the main cities so that more number of refugee families can be
accomodated proportionately and overcapacitation can be avoid thereby. This would expectedly
prevent family disintegration and unaccountability or abondonement of refugee children or any
family member.Fragmentation of camps would also ensure that more number of relief staff could
distributed more systamatically and proportionately to these camps instead of cramping all the
staff/officials in limited or few camps which could consequently lead to much better providence
of infrastructural facilities to these families such as availability of drinking water, medical
assistance, better moral support system, better security for these families and so
forth. Therefore, empathetic treatment towards these crisis affected families requires more active
and persistent efforts and should not limited only to offering the initial acceptance as empathetic
feelings are inhenrently unconditional and boundless.
Secondly,it has been widely advocated that with regards to the high concentration of religious
terrorism particularly in Syria and the recent infamous terrorist attack in Paris, the EU nations
must unanimously discontinue the influx of Syrian refugees and any other country that poses
potential terrorist threats. Now,in tis context, many humanitarian and NGO associations across the
world have vehemently opposed to such discriminatory notion mainly on the basis of distributive
equity and ethical standpoint. It can be justifiably stated that if already several EU countries have
accepted migrants from all the countries then why point out a particular country just on the
ground of a larger political or diplomatic issue. From an ethical perspective,it indicates political
discrimination towards a certain group of people who might or might not be associated with the
alleged terrorist activities.Hence, there is a possibility that innocents or non-affiliates will suffer
in case discriminatory immigration policies are enforced based on the suspect of possible
terrorist threats. It must also be emphasized that most of the refugee familes are in fact victims of
the condemnable terrorist conducts in their respective countries and which is one of the main
attrbitues behind their sudden and unprepared migration. Therefore, instead of enforcing any
discriminatory immigration mandate and abosolutely banning refugee influx from any particular
country the EU countries can unanimouly come to a common resolution by implementing more
stricter security system inside the refugee camps by deploying more domestic military force as
well as UN forces. It must also be remembered that by discriminating against any particular
group of families,we might be abondoning countless children who are the worst victims/sufferers
of the ongoing crisis in their respective countries and it is certainly not acceptable ethically and
furthermore, the ethical consideration is further compunded by the fact that majority of these
refugee families are poor and few belong to afflunet background.
Thirdly, based on above discussion on various ethical dimensions of the issue, many legal
3. complications do arise as well.During the unrestrained reguee influx, many of the EU countries
had to compromise with or violate the composite immigration policies of the EU region thereby
engendering many legal and security related complications.Humanitarian considerations called
for the acceptance of many refugee families without appropriate documentations or paperwork
which allegedly increases the potential risks associated with internal security in these
countries. To address the legal and immigrational complexities and reduce the legal burden of the
EU countries, other countries across the world should come forward and cooperate remaining
within the boundaries of UN regulations regarding refugee issues. If few more developed and
developed countries around the world can cooperate with the EU countries to accomodate
refugee families,it would fulfill the ethical requirements as well as reduce the
legal/immigrational dilemma in the EU region as well.In this context, the immigrational policies
in the recipient countries have to be modified accordingly so as to balance between the ethical
perspective of the crisis and the legal/immigrational dimensions as well. But this solution would
likely to generate greater distributive equity/ethical justice as now more number of families with
children can be accomodated so certainly more number of people can be benefitted from an
overall point of view and at the same time reduce legal obligations or burden of individual
recipient nations.
