2. OPENING SEQUENCE
The opening sequence of this clip shows a range of different objects then
morphing into a face. It shows to the audience how people faces can be fit into
different objects and what they will then be changed into. For example, the
image of the car then changes into the face of the man on the right. The
objects have facial features on them which then shows at the end what they
look like. Because the show is about the human face it shows the variety of
different facial shapes, which is actually relevant to our documentary idea.
3. In this documentary, they used celebrities to interview about the purpose of the
documentary. By including this it shows to the audience that this is a realistic
subject in which they are talking about. Celebrities are in the public eye all the
time and receive a lot of criticism based on their appearance. By including these
celebrities it shows to the audience what their view on appearance is and how
they perceive it. This programme has used 3 different people who are not very
similar. Candice Bergen is a woman who is fairly natural, Pierce Brosnan is a man
who plays very strong men in films and Joan Rivers has had a lot of plastic
surgery, so the audience will be interested in what she has to say about different
perceptions of beauty.
4. Throughout this clip, they go on to talk about different face shapes and different facial
features. This is something important that needs to be identified within in my
documentary as the main focus is on the perception of beauty. By including different
facial shapes and different facial features this documentary has really grasped the idea
of the comparison. The second image I have included shows a variety of different facial
features and face shapes. This is again a good indicator of what I should include within
my documentary because it is something that is important in beauty. Additionally I have
included an image of a blonde woman and an Asian woman. Each woman has
different features however are still equally as attractive in comparison.
5. So not only in this clip do they focus on facial features of ‘good-looking’ people, they do
include things on people who have facial deformities. This is a good thing to include in a
documentary because otherwise it can be deemed as discrimination and it is shallow. It
is a good idea to include things such as facial deformities because it can show the
audience to be more open minded on what people perceive as beauty. Additionally facial
structure is something that should be included additionally because everyone's faces are
different shapes and are made up of different facial structures. Some people with a
certain facial structure may be deemed as attractive in comparison to someone who's
facial structure is completely opposite. I will include images like this is my documentary
because it gives good explanation as to what people find attractive and what people do
not find attractive.
