2. Age: Age in our music video is represented in 2 different ways, we have added a normal teenager that is not a troubler
maker and is a person that is into education, we have supported the stereotype of having a victim as a positive
influence, smart, well dressed, into education. This was supported by the fact that the video I have analysed “The Ring” the
girl was innocent, smart, well dressed and is into education as she is wearing a uniform. How ever on the other hand we
have a villain which is stereotypically a trouble maker and is just going to end up doing something negative at the moment.
Regional Identity: I have seen different types of movies but I haven’t seen one that would have the location setting of
Hackney, normally movies are set in the USA or maybe its set in the city, but not specifically in hackney. I believe that
hackney is really unrepresented, this maybe because of the negative words that are spread around. However we had made
our video in hackney, we wanted to challenge real media products, we wanted to represent hackney show that yes this is
how hackney looks and see how we present them. Hackney is normally known to be all bad and gang violence, I myself as a
character had subverted the stereotypes and presented myself as a straight forward teen that is in education as I have a bag
and I'm not wearing baggy cloths or hoody's.
3. Disability: There aren't many disabilities shown in horror genre types of movies, I therefore believe the are not
as well represented but there may be a reason. This is because they believe that they wont be a good role in
the production. However I have presented someone that is bit of a psycho and is presented as a normal
person. If we had more props and more of a range of resources to film with we may have included another
disability into the film opening.
(No disability shown in the product)
Sexuality: Sexuality isn't a big deal in our production as we didn’t want any other actors to rely on this
because we know that if we do get a couple of people we will have to ask them if they are free to come and
shoot with us. This could then potentially slow down the flow of the production. Also we wanted to subvert the
stereotype of having a female in our movie because all other real media productions normally have a female
as the vulnerable one. And then you will have a lot of screaming going on and it will just mess the
atmosphere, it will get t loud and then this will make it hard to edit because we wont be able to put the music
on and adjust it to the clip. Sexuality is a great deal I hackney but it is also represented in a negative way
therefore we didn’t want to conform the stereotype from the movies and link it to our film. (same sex
throughout the product)
Class and status: We have definitely conformed the stereotype of working class and middle/upper class.
Normally class in a real media products are shown by the way they dress. They will have casual cloths for a
working class and a suit or smart attire for a middle class or a upper class. We have conformed this
stereotype in our video because we wanted to get the message across of who’s who. This would then lead on
to behaviour as middle/upper class people are more like be trouble makers.
4. Ethnicity: By watching many different opening and seeing the characters that they present , but the one
ethnicity that I haven't seen in videos are Pakistanis and Turkish people, I believe they are not presented
enough in the real media products therefore I have brought in these to types of ethnicity. We need to
show people how they are or even give them a chance to be seen in the
community as they are not seen enough.
By presenting these ethnicity were bringing multiculturalism as this is what more real media products should
look like
