A presentation into my research towards what I would like to do when I graduate.

1. Brief 1:
From brief 1 I learnt a number of things:
- That I enjoy story making.
- I prefer being in a familiar environment
whilst working on a project.
- Though a lot of my work is digitally based, I
still enjoy handmade drawings which is what I
would like to focus on in the future. Though I
will still use my digital skills to help my
future work such as my Final Major Project.
- I wanted to show the audience who I think I
am and what I think I do, therefore showing my
work from my own perspective allowing the
audience to understand my work the way I do.
From this I wanted to consider valid career
options that would allow me to work in a
creative environment whilst still doing a job
that I will thoroughly enjoy.

2. Where does that
leave me?
From looking at my brief 1 feedback I saw my
future heading in one of three directions;
The first involves me heading towards my dream
job of working for Pixar, doing something I enjoy
thoroughly- story making. Whether that involved
recreating a told story through drawings or
thinking up the concept myself.
The other option was continuing something I
already do, and enjoy; my job at Apple in Covent
Garden, where I am hoping to progress to the role
of ‘Creative’.
my final choices were looking deeper into design
agencies and possible marketing graduate
schemes.

3. Career choice #1
Pixar?
Pixar are the worlds most famous
animation company. Though I do not have an
animation experience, they offer more
roles and more experiences. After many
attempts at finding internships on their
website I am usually left with the words
‘Sorry, there are no positions for this
department at this time.’ Though I continue
to try.
I have gone through many ‘The Art of
Pixars...‘ books to find that creating stories
through digital or handmade drawings are
what I love doing, and that I got most of my
inspiration through reading these books.
Pixar, though a job far away, is still my goal
if I were to pursue this path.

4. Career choice #2
Apple?
For almost a year now, I have been working for
the Apple Store in Covent Garden. During the
last 10 months I have since progressed to a
role which involves helping repair Apple’s
iconic products as well as training customers
with memberships on how to use the products
and the software itself. My progression in such
a short space of time has allowed me to
consider Apple as a viable career option,
knowing I will have another chance to progress
again in the next few months to a position
which would involve me teaching customers on
a constant basis. This role is known as the
‘Creative’ role and is well within my knowledge
base and skills. This would allow me to use my
creative skills in an active environment whilst
still being able to fully enjoy my job as I have
been since I began working there. I definitely
consider this to be one of my top career choices
when I graduate.
