Thanks John. Welcome to our webinar “Time & Attendance Technologies for Tracking the Mobile Workforce” presented by EPAY Systems. My name is Michelle Lanter Smith. I am the Vice President of Marketing here at EPAY and I’m thrilled to have all you join us today.I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our EPAY customers that are on the line with us today. WELCOME.Also, I see we have some our partners with us today. A warm welcome goes out to our Sprint and Paychex friends. And finally, welcome to those of you that are new to EPAY that are joining us today. Our goal is to not only provide you with some insight into using mobile technologies to aid in your time and labor management but also to give you a glimpse of the type of solutions that EPAY can offer.
Today, we have 45 minutes planned for our webinar and we’ll open up the lines at the end of our talk so you can ask questions.Let me tell you a bit about what we’re going to cover today. For those of you who are new to us, I’d like to tell you briefly about EPAY. Then we’ll quickly move into talking about why businesses are considering mobile solutions to address business issues – we’ll cover some very interesting statistics that predict the future use of mobile technology with the workforce.Of course, then we’ll move on to talking about some of the key benefits to mobile solutions as it applies to time and labor management. And then . . . My favorite part of today’s webinar, we’ll show a live demo of our mobile solution for automating time-tracking of today’s workforce. Our mobile application, Blueforce Mobile, brings the convenience of a smartphone app to time and labor management. Blueforce Mobile is geared to companies with employees on the go and it is available for both the Android and iPhone devices—basically transforming them into mobile time clocks.
But before we talk more about mobile apps in today’s workforce and specifically about EPAY’s mobile solution, I’d like to tell you briefly about us.EPAY is in the time and labor management business and we specialize in dealing with complex and distributed labor. Our organization understands all of the challenges and limitations a company with employees scattered everywhere deals with as it relates to deploying new technology in the field, as well as managing and tracking it’s labor force. Our web-based system, Blueforce, drives two main benefits for our clients:We help them reduce their total labor costs by more than 5%We help them lower their overall risk in facing compliancy issues – we have a built-in compliance orientated features . . . Right in our systemDistributed labor can present many challenges. Yet, labor is probably your largest cost.Complex pay rules, shift differentials, employees working one task in the morning and a different one in the afternoon. Employees working at customer sites or moving from job to job. These are tough for most time and attendance systems. But not for us. Our uniquely flexible pay rules engine can handle complex union rules and state regulations, not to mention your own complexities because of the nature of your business.Plus, most solutions are too costly and aren’t able to handle data collection across many sites, nor the implementation to get all your sites up and running. Our implementation process, which we call Bluespeed will get you up and running quickly – with no heavy lifting for you. And we’ll manage the roll-out to all your sites.
Since 2001, EPAY has delivered innovative, efficient and effective solutions to address our clients critical time and labor management issues. Our client base is very diverse – serving some of the largest in Janitorial,Building Maintenance – Healthcare –– Security –– Foodservice – and Hospitality. You’ll see our clocks in some of the largest retailers, public sporting venues, and airports in the nation. One of the central themes we hear from our clients is that we can mirror the operating environment. Specifically we can handle all the various payroll permutations to ensure accuracy and compliancy for their organization. The flexibility of Blueforce is built-in; we meet our customers’ business needs without upfront custom costs.
Today’s expert joining me today is John “God i you so”. He’s been a pioneer in the high-tech industry for 10 years. Schooled and trained as an electrical engineer, John has advanced his career working in product development in some of the nation’s thriving technical companies. His technical expertise spans a number of technologies from solar cells to RFID. He also is intimately familiar with ERP, implementing wide-scale ERP systems for large, regional tech firms. Time and labor management has been his new focus for the last two years working closely with EPAY’s customers in the HR and Payroll functions. Since mobile technologies have come into play, John has embraced the technology and its application within time and labor management. He is now responsible for deploying EPAY’s mobile solution to our customers, demonstrating EPAY’s innovation in this area and driving creative solutions to our client’s time and attendance issues.Hi. Thank you Michelle for the intro and thank you everyone who has joined. I’m so excited to share this information with you. I know that it will be extremely helpful in planning for your workforce management. So we all live in a highly mobile world where smartphones and tablets have become the norm in both of our working and personal lives. What are some of the most recent stats you’ve seen on mobile solutions in our world?
We are in the digital age where information is literally at our finger tips between smartphones and tablets. Have you ever been in conversation where someone poses a question and nobody knows the answer to it? What’s the first thing you do? You’re not looking to go to your computer any more. Maybe a couple years ago that was the case. But not in todays mobile information revolution In 2011, 91.4 million people in the US owned a smartphone compared to 63.2 million the previous year. That’s a 44% increase of users.Updated stats include 4th QTR alone, over 200 million smartphones sold worldwideA study done by comScore revealed that 7% of all US web traffic came from smartphones and tablets with 2/3 of that figure attributed to smartphones. 75% of emails, 60% of Facebook posts and 90% of Tweets all from mobile. 1 in 8 webpage views comes from mobile devicesOn average it takes 90 min for users to respond to e-mail but 90 sec to respond to a TextAndroid OS has the largest market share of 46% with apple iOS with 28%...newer statistics show android at 50.9%
The world Mobile Congress was just last week and some interesting new items are being talked about. The first one is Phablets which were first introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy Note 8. Other companies have followed suit and announced similar. A phablet is mix between a phone and a tablet. We’ll see where that one goes. There is more talk about Near Field Communication and how it can be used in practical instances. Basically replace a key fob with a smarthphoneGoogle wants you to experience the world in a different way with Google Glass which is a pair of glasses that have an on board screen for you to see information and interact with the world around you.Another internet browser firm is throwing their hat into the mobile OS. This just means more options for users and Firefox has received backing from some major players in the industry. The last one is that the next generation of iPhone will include a fingerprint scanner embedded in the touch screen. The thought is to use your phone as a form of payment. This would make it more secure.
So, great stats John. However – if we move into the TLM discussion which is important to our listeners, we really want to know who is using Smartphone today. These next few slides are demographics of smartphone users. These figures are important because it shows what percentage of cell phone users and what age groups and what their average income isLooking at this graph we see that nearly half of cell phone users use a smartphone
By age we see that the majority of people use a smartphone up to the age group of 55-64.Another trend you can see that there has been an increase of users at the very least of 10% for each age group excluding 65 and olderThe highest climb was in the 18-24 year olds with a climb of 18% with 45-54 year olds at 16%This trend will continue
By ethnicity. Each group is increasing.I’m not going to dwell on this too long.
Again we look at this trend as increasing and household income doesn’t matter.Users need to be connected. They need to share their facebook updates or jump onto linkedin. Check fantasy footballLook at their work e-mail. Read reports. Do research.- So these figures are great and you are saying, who cares. This is why you should care. POLLING QUESTIONDo you think the usage of smartphones by hourly laborers in North America will increase, stay the same, or decrease over the next two years?
So John, why are businesses are embracing mobile technology?Employees want to be productive and feel like they accomplish things during the day.And they are willing to bring their own devices to the workplace to help them. Juniper research shows that 150 million employees worldwide bring their own device to work and this number is expected to grow to 350 million by 2014. There are other benefits from going mobile as well. The above graph was a survey done by xcubelab. The largest factor at 73% is to increase efficiency in how your employee works. Giving them access to data in real time helps the employee make a quick decision rather than going up the food chain to make the decision. SLIDES WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE . . . YOU’LL HAVE A CHANCE TO INDICATE THAT YOU’D LIKE THEM AT THE END OF TODAY’S PRESENTATION
So what are you seeing HR decision makers forecasting as the future usage of mobile technology? An ADP survey shows that large and mid-size companies see about 40% of its employees using mobile technology for everyday work activitiesWhile 50% surveyed feel that this number will continue to grow over the next 2 years.POLLING QUESTION: What do you see is the biggest benefit of using mobile technology to track your employees’ time?Automating time-trackingLow cost time-collection deviceKnowing where your employees punch in and punch out
So why do you want to consider integrating mobile solutions into your time and labor management? You might have a Mobile workforce thatwork at multiple locations andA time clock is just not feasible on siteThere is also a time saver by automating the time trackingAnd get rid of paper timesheets. Meaning you remove manual entry of timesheets to your payroll system and remove human errors. Also know where your employees are. You don’t want them clocking in early or late when they aren’t on site. GPS services are available on all smartphonesSECURITY
With that,EPAY Systems is pleased to announce Blueforce Mobile for the Blueforce™ TLM Solution. John, what makes our solution so great?Blueforce Mobile is a Native developed application available for both iPhone and Android devices.
Some key features of the application.Obviously the employee can clock in and out where their GPS coordinates are captured at that time. Also, as soon as the punch is made, it appears onto Blueforce. I will be give a live demo of this as well.If data services are not available there is an offline mode where employee can still make their punch and stored locally but will not be sent over until data services are restoredA key feature is that the supervisor has the ability to punch employees in as they see them, in a feature called group punch
What a great demonstration John. I bet some of our listeners might want to share a demo like this with some of their colleagues. At the end of today’s presentation, you’ll have an opportunity to let us know if you’d like a customized demo for your company. But for right now, John, let’s wrap up with some of the key features of Blueforce Mobile
Time theft
Blueforce Mobile offers a solution that can easily fit to your business needs -- mobile workers or a small group of employees at a remote site
Now it’s time to open up our lines so you can ask your questions. John, can you tell our listeners exactly how they can do that?
That’s all the time we have today. I’d like to extend a big thanks to John Gaudiuso here at EPAY for sharing his wisdom with us today and showing us a Blueforce Mobile demonstration.I’d also like to thank all of you on the phone lines for joining us today.
