This document discusses different techniques actors use to portray emotions on stage or screen. It explains that actors should let the emotions of the scene guide them and lose themselves in their character to an extent. Actors are encouraged to incorporate humor, play the opposite emotion, stick to one overarching emotion, and keep their voice in control. Facial expressions are also important for conveying emotions to the audience. Unlike regular facial expressions, microexpressions that last 1/15 to 1/25 of a second are difficult to fake and can reveal a person's true emotions.
