This document describes a student's media project creating a mock music magazine. The student researched real music magazines in different genres to inform the design of their magazine. They created a front cover with a futuristic style using blue, gray, and white colors. They also included a contents page listing article categories. For the double-page spread, they featured an interview format with quotes to engage readers and included photos of the artist to pique interest in learning more about them. The student drew upon conventions of real music magazines while developing their own designs.
1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
USE, DEVELOP OR
CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS
OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS ?
2. My media product was a front cover, contents and double
page spread of a music magazine. Before starting my
music magazine, I’ve done researches on different types of
music to find out the gap in the market. I’ve been analysing
the written, symbolic and technical codes, of different
types of magazine such as I could take examples of all of
them to create the best magazine that I can do.
By doing this I was able to get great ideas in the basics of
a magazine.
The ideas are mainly the same, but the mise en page of the
pictures and the text can be slightly different
3. FRONT COVER
• Colors
The colors chosen was blue, grey and
white.
This magazne look like a japanese
style, with a futuristic mind. The font
looks really numeric.
At first sight it looks a bit cold but it
can be justified because Electronic
music can be compared to the
technical and computer science world,
which creates eclectronic music in
fact.
4. FRONT COVER
• Title
“Bassline”
I tried to make it look electro to fit with
the magazine atmosphere. The word
comes from the music vocabulary. I
wanted my title to stand out and catch
people. I add a blue box behind the title
to makes it stand out more
• Picture
A lot a magazines just add pictures
together even if the pictures hasn’t
been taken together. Hey can take a
picture and use only the background or
only the person on the picture. Which
is exactly what I’ve done. I took a
picture of him, and I cropped the
background to select only his face.
5. CONTENTS
I researched a few different
music magazine genre as I felt it
gave me that extra insight into
the way the style my own
contents. I decided to choose
the same colours and style, to
stull make it look electronic.
In my contents we can see
different categories to make it
clear for the public such as the
reader directly know which
pages he wants to go to.
7. What stands out of the article s the
name of the “singer”, the picture
and the quotation. Instead of
writing on him, I decided to write a
conversation between him and me
(the journalist), like if the was
opening his heart to his fan. The
audience will actually feel more
concerned by the article, as they
will discover things on him,
directly coming from his proper
mouth.
DOUBLE PAGE
The pictures of hum and a girl,
increase the desire of the readers
to know who she is, and so to
read the article to find out.
At the end, there is a little sum
up on him, who he has done in
his life and what we know about
him and his success
