AS media studies course work
         evaluation
       Eliska Sochurkova
Masthead- I used playful masthead, so it fits to the design of whole magazine. Every letter is in different angle, and it
makes an impression of 3D. The name include name of school, so it may be closer to the readers, and the other word is
stars, so it suggest that this magazine will give special information about special things.
Headline-Honestly, if I wouldn’t be author of this cover, I wouldn’t be sure which of titles is the main one, because two
of them has the same size. As a main title I used name of Halloween, favourite fest, and because I did this cover before
it, I though that some advices and ideas may catch reader’s attention. The second titles tells about driving license,
because this magazine is designated for people about 17 years old, and most of them want to do know how to drive a
car.
Main image-I took a picture of two of my classmates. Both of them are smiling so it gives a positive light to a magazine.
The picture is edited a little bit, I used effect for changing the light.
Plug-I fill every free space with plugs because I didn’t want the cover look empty.

The contents page doesn’t fit to my cover at all. I used totally different colour, the only thing they have
common is summary. This was my first contents page I’ve ever made in my life, so I didn’t know how to
do it.
Title-I didn’t make any title at my contents page, so there is only menu.


Picture- Because my magazine doesn’t write about any people, I didn’t give their photo to the contents page. I put
there a picture of my friend with Halloween mask on his face, because Halloween was a main theme of whole
magazine.
Music magazine evaluation
Masthead-I chose the name Listen, because music is for listening, so it clearly says what is this magazine about. I used
light orange colour, because I think it’s better to use this colour more than bright colour for masthead. The font is
unusual, but nice.
Headline-I used three colour for headlines. At this cover is clear, what title is the main one, because I used brighter
colour, and letter are bigger. For main title I made up a pop music band, but for the other title I used names of two
famous singers-Katy Perry and Adele. I made + very big so it catches reader’s attention.
Main image-As a main image I used a picture of my two classmates, representing my made-up pop music group. One of
them is playing ukulele so it show that they are connected to music. I edited it a little bit, but I only used effect for
another light, as in the previous magazine, but this light is a little bit darker, so the headlines can excel.
Plug-The only plug I use is ,,they play ukulele like never before’’. I don’t know why, but at this cover I didn’t have so
much space as at the first one, so I couldn’t write much.
Contents page
This contents page doesn’t fit to cover at all. Again. I don’t know why because this time I had a feeling that it fits.
But I was out of ideas. At least I used the same colour as at the cover.
Title-this time I wrote CONTENTS at the top of the page. I mixed three colour at this contents page, and two of them
are also at the cover.
Picture-Because it is a music magazine, it talks about people, so I put there a pictures of my made-up music band.
They are jumping, one of them is holding ukulele. I used another name of famous singer-Justin Bieber, because I
needed to fill the empty space.
Main article-The main article is about my made-up music band called New Gentlemen. I used big letters and
different colour to catch reader’s attention. The number of page with interview is also wrritten wit bigger letters.
How does your media product represent particural social group?



The name of my magazine is short, easy to remember, connected
with music, so it can catch attention of everyone.

My magazines are designated for young people around 16-25
years old, with a design, because at all of pictures there are
young people. It is for males and females, but I guess I made it
for females a little bit more. I didn’t make any differences
between classes, it is for lower class, upper class, worker class,
students, everyone.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media and
                              why?

• Newspaper stand-so everybody can buy it and read it.

• Give away for free-I could use this for beginning so people can read it and
  devide if they like or not.

• Television advertisement-to catch attention of people.

• Social network-Another type of advertisement, or make fan-page of my
  media for people so they can read all news.
