Use of incentives words, such as ‘exclusive’. Small images of famous bands on the side may grab attention of passer buys who are fans and are interested in these artists. Free posters are another way to get attention, as many people into rock may fill their rooms with posters of their favourite bands.

33. Mise-en-scene of images: To create my images I had to go to live concerts in school and in London to create a sense of realism. The cover image is a picture of a friend performing live with a band, the setting was perfect and the lighting was adjusted to create the atmosphere of the show. Another picture was taken backstage of the Apollo Theatre in London, as the crowd awaited behind a fence to greet the stars of the show. There is also a picture of myself dressed up in black with a white background, which made my rock look standout. The last picture I took was of my friend in the lighting box of the Tithe Barn and made it look like a recording studio, as if my friend was adjusting her album. The lighting box had buttons and faedrs which slightly resembles a recording studio. The surroundings were dark and in front of my friend is a window which resembles the recording room.

Layout:The layout of my magazine is mainly conventional, yet I used multiple fonts and way of presenting texts, for example in the double page spread I included a title and had the interview in columns with quotes dotted on the page. I also added a design gallery object on the side of the page featuring extra information about the topic. One photo is placed on the other side of the double page. As for my front cover, the masthead at the top of the page, I also included the main topics that would be featured in my magazine in uneven places on the front cover, I included small images which relates to the topics mentioned. However my barcode is displayed beside the masthead.
35. Contents Page:My contents page follows the conventions of existing music magazines, it includes images of topics on one side of the page, while the other side is the titles of topics featured. I differed in the sizes and locations of the pictures avoiding making it equal as well as trying to relate the photos to the titles. There is a contrast between the colours (white, black and orange) I included the colour orange which refers to the theme of the magazine, the colours differ to make it stand out & make the page more colourful. I also used different fonts for every text to make it slightly unconventional. In spite of this, I think that the arrangement of the photos, use of a colours and different fonts would appeal to the teenage audience more than any official layout.
36. Costume and props: All member of the school band were dressed up in showy outfits, and each member of the band was holding an instrument (guitar/bass/drum/ keyboard/ microphone). Yet, my image did not contain all instruments but focused on the lead singer. The picture of the crowd was a real image of people dressed up in fancy yet casual clothes as they just spent the night at the theatre. The image of myself was taken in a style of a photo shoot, I wore a short black wig and a black leather jacket and dark pants, with heavy makeup (which unfortunately was not that visible in the photo) as I was aiming for an emu rocker style. The lighting box included had buttons and faders which slightly resembles a recording studio.
37. People: The people featured in my magazine are very normal. They are not part of a real rock band, but represent their love for music by fashion. Are young, younger the people I a rock magazine yet this relates to my target audience as the people used I my images are about the same age as the target audience. I have more female artists featured in my magazine as it is targeted for teenage girls. (For example: the picture of me in black or Cheskie in the recording studio)
38. Written content: For my text, I used the style of a conversational interview. The interview was with a fake rising star who is a rock signer. I made her interview answers seem very realistic by making it seem as if she reacted to the interviewer with a sense of humor, I also gave her a past which she motioned at the interview. I made her seem down to earth as the audience may relate to her character. I did not follow ay interview of a magazine but the questions asked are my own.
39. Music genre ad how your magazine suggests it: My genre is rock, teenage rock which (girls) can relate to. This is quite clear I my magazine as My magazine suggests that by photos of people playing the guitar, and the girl I interview suggests that she plays rock music, I also added a sing that mentions ‘Rock Albums’ o the cover page. As well as this, the use of sharp colours like orange and red throughout my magazine and the mis-en-scene of the images emphasizes that “Wicker!” is a rock magazine.
40. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? I would have Bauer Media Group distribute my magazine is a large German publishing company; H Bauer brands include women's weekly and TV listings magazines. Bauer Media Brands includes Q which started as a music magazine, and Kerrang! which specializes in Rock Music (this is close to the genre of my magazine). Bauer Media Group is a big company as it also owns a 50% stake in the British television company Box Television, the other half owned by channel 4. I might also choose IPC Media to distribute my magazine, since IPC Media offers something for everyone by producing over 60 iconic media brands, reaching 26 million people, while the websites reach over 14 million users monthly. IPC Media publishes a huge range of magazines and websites (magazines such as ‘LOOK’ & ‘NME’). Both these companies are big, as they present more advertisements than other brands. When it comes to distributing the magazines I would have my magazine distributed in shops such as ‘WH Smiths’ or large supermarkets such as ‘Sainsbury’s’ which is known for selling a large number of magazines daily. I would also distribute copies of my magazine online to grab the attention of more audience.
41. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Use of my: My passport WD Dell Laptop Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-T90 12MP 4x Zoom Digital Camera Blogger Word Publisher to design my pages Microsoft power point to create my presentations Overall I have learnt a lot about technology throughout this project; as using them and experimenting helped me find different ways to edit my pages. In addition to this, I am now familiar with them all and more confident in using them.
42. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product? Firstly I learned how people view magazines differently, as they have different choices of colour and topics, this helped me try to create a magazine that my target audience would be interested in. My understanding of the software has improved greatly as I learned how to design and create my own magazine cover, content page and double page; by finding pages on the internet and using it as an influence. When I had to take pictures I learned how to find the perfect angle for each picture. I also learned the general layout of any magazine’s cover and content page, and the reason behind some design which helps build a relationship with reader. I learned how to edit the pages and create a layout and use of different shapes and fonts to make the page more creative, as well as ways to attract the target audience by the direct mode of address. I learned more about music companies and media institution that distribute magazines worldwide.
