1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Camera
for our main task we used high definition camera, This meant the
picture was of a much better quality.
Therefore our shots were a lot brighter and meant the camera coped
much better the dark mis-en-scene.
Also as we used a more advanced camera we were able to mess around
with the settings in order to achieve the best quality of filming. An
example would be a setting that we used which smoothed out the
camera movement, making it more steady.
3. Sound
To record our sound we used a microphone with a boom stick which
plugged into the camera.
In the second attempt of filming (when
we put the battery in the microphone
this time), we made sure the sound level
did not peak as this would mean the
sound would have been distorted. We
did this by watching the sound level on
the camera screen, and turning down the
sound it if reached the red area.
Another way in which we controlled this was moving the boom, by
either moving it closer to the action or moving it away, always
making sure it was not in the shot.
4. Premiere Pro
Once we filmed our piece we then uploaded it to Premiere pro, to edit and
put our piece together.
The shots were all separate , how ever we had to choose the ones we wanted
to use and then crop them so the piece flowed correctly and the shots
matched.
5. Premiere Pro- Audio track
We also cropped shots, shortening them, for the effect of increasing the pace
where there was a tension build up.
6. Premiere Pro- Audio track
We also added non-diegetic sounds during the editing process using Adobe
audition. Again this was for the effect of enhancing the tense atmosphere.
Using premier pro we also adjusted the volume level to the non-diegetic
sounds using key frames. Meaning we could fade in and fade out the
sounds when we wanted, again to increase tension when needed.
7. Premiere pro- L cut and transitions
We also included an L cut during the editing process. This had the
effect of allowing the audience to hear the doorbell, before
seeing the reaction of the character hearing the doorbell. This
technique is another way of building a tense atmosphere, as it
has an unsettling effect on the audience.
We also used transitions, mainly ‘dip to black’ as this had an unsettling
effect because the shot would fade in from a black screen. This would
also make the shots flow better one after another.
8. YouTube
After finishing our piece we exported it from premiere pro ,turning it into a
video and a file that was compatible with YouTube to then upload it to
YouTube.
9. The next step was to post it on my Tumblr page. In which I had to copy
the embed code, and post it in the HTML source on the text post on
my Tumblr.
