The Dynamic Character Of Trisha In Thank You Mr. Falker
In the children's book Thank You Mr Falker, Trisha always wanted to learn how to read books. She didn't really know how to read because she
couldn't pronounce any words by herself, and she couldn't even read one sentence because she had a reading disability.Kids began to make fun of
her because she couldn't read. She began to doubt herself and she never knew how to read, until she met Mr Falker. Mr falker who was a teacher
at the time always stayed after school with Trisha to practice reading with her, until she grasped the concept.Trisha is a dynamic character because
in the beginning she had a lot of struggles with reading. At the end she felt triumphant and happy because she finally learned how to read because
of Mr . falker. Right at the start at the story, Trisha displays her excitement and hope for reading. Trisha grew up always loving books. Her mom
would always read her books every night, and when she was outside during the day her grandma and grandpa would read to her too. She hoped to read
in kindergarten but other kids had suspicions that she would be terrible at reading. "Don't worry trisha". You are the smartest ,quickest, dearest... Show

Falker met with Trisha everyday after school. They had sandwiches together and Mr falker started correcting her on her reading. They both did and

Good Vs. Evil In Book IV Of Philosophy By Boethius
In the world we live in today, we may question how good is powerful anymore. Looking back, it's hard to see when good was ever truly triumphing
over evil. In Book IV of Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, Lady Philosophy claims that, "the good are always powerful and the evil are weak and
futile." If you look at the world around us, that statement is unfortunately a bit laughable. But you have to look a little closer – what is this type of
power? Is the power that one of goodness contains different than our materialistic, tangible pre–conceived definition of power? What are the struggles
that make them powerful and triumphant? Looking back on human history, what acts were ultimately deemed triumphant – acts of evil, or acts of
goodness?
The definition and the way we see power is interpreted differently by everyone, and is probably why this topic is very controversial. What is power?
What type of power is possessed by good, versus the power possessed by evil? While I agree that good is powerful and evil is weak, some may
struggle to see how. Evil is everywhere. Good seems to have a silent voice to which people pay no mind. It is hard to be good. It has always been hard
to be good. The good are persecuted and it often seems evil always triumphs. But you must look at the life of a good person – they struggle through
the snares and jeers of their peers, coaxing them to give in to what's 'cool' and 'normal'. Good people are constantly bullied and put down because the

Essay on The Triumphant Reconstruction
Of the many trials and tribulations that occurred during reconstruction we are
faced with determining whether it was a success or a failure. Many good things and bad
things happened as a result of reconstruction. . Although some setbacks and tragedies did
happen as with any project of this size would. The entire effort overall was successful.
Although it did not accomplished what it was set in place to do. The act changed the
course of history for the better.
As this project started there was much conflict as what to do with the south. The

the way for the civil rights movement. It also promoted equal rights and the right for
everyone to be free. Free labor was a result of these acts. Without reconstruction where
would the south be today? Most likely poor, unequal rights, and most likely bad
economic problems. As a direct result of reconstruction industrialization emerged in the
south. Less raw materials were sent north and they were used in the south. Former slaves
and poor whites started working in factories earning wages instead of working on
plantations. Blacks started to be voted into office. If reconstruction never happened this
situation would never have come about. Reconstruction not only changed things in the
south they also changed things in the north. Feminists movements started coming about
in the north. They started asking why freed slaves could vote but women still could not.
Many new questions arose and reconstruction was the cause.
Although the reconstruction acts failed in many ways they were reconciled by the
fact that it opened doors to many new ideas. It tested the laws, practices, and even our
very beliefs in the United States of America. It broke into the time when industrialism
really exploded onto the scene. Civil rights

Phantom of the Opera Review
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of the most beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The
musical was inspired and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original
London cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that created the parts. The musical
was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webberwho is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well
loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of theOpera that set this musical apart from all the
others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be
too modern. This makes it unique because most of today's musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in
the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this is done is with the main
theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well–known themes in musical theatre and it is reminiscent of rock music with the
guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast
is of musical and opera. The

Oprah Winfrey Is Not Just A Woman
Oprah Winfrey is not just a woman, she is an institution. The multi–billion African–American woman is continuously ranked number one on the Forbes
list of most powerful American celebrities. Why is she so extremely successful? The reasons why Oprah Winfrey is on top of Forbes list of most
influential American celebrities are primarily her high profile and the many mentions in the press and social networks. Forbes states, "Unlike most
Forbes lists, which are based on earnings or net worth, our annual Celebrity 100 takes a stab at measuring that most ephemeral of riches: fame"
(Forbes.com). This paper will analyze Oprah Winfrey as an icon, the shining example of someone who made it as well as why she is considered one
of the most powerful women in the world.
Before Oprah Winfrey was "Oprah"

Is Joe Keller A Hero Essay
Not all heroes wear capes, and not all heroes make the right choices. In the drama All My Sons by Arthur Miller, Joe Keller does not play a true hero
but a tragic one. Every hero has a flaw and for Joe Keller, family is more important than being a moral person, causing his own downfall. Joe Keller, a
well–respected business man, father, and a family pleaser; held his head up high and felt he was on top of a totem pole. He changed his business from a
washing machine company into a multi–million dollar company that builds more than just washer machines. The Keller's earned the name "The

Triumph Definition Essay
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." (Matthew 16:24
NIV) I love presidential election years. I really do. I'm well aware that even at this early date, most of the country is showing signs of deep election
and debate fatigue. But I have to admit, for all of the debates, polls, articles etc, I enjoy it. It's not that I'm a political junkie by any means. I like to
be informed about what happens in our country and I find it important to look at the trends we see in people's thoughts so we can best address their
lives with the reality of the Gospel. But you have to admit, the entire process says a lot about who we are. Apparently we are angry. I've not quite

Our world says triumph is about winning. Getting more delegates. Beating down the other person. It's about being angry and getting your way.
The cross reminds us that God has a different definition of what triumph is. Triumph is not about displaced anger, but unconditional, unmerited
love. Triumph is not about getting ones' way at any cost, but about obedience to God. Triumph is not about getting more, it's about how much of
ourselves we can give away. Triumph is sacrificial. What the world saw as a waste, unfulfilled promise, became the greatest moment of triumph
ever. On the cross, every sin we have ever committed was set upon Jesus shoulders. We have been forgiven because of His willingness to pay the
price for us. In HIs death the price was paid, iN his wounds we find the healing of our own scars. Let us not forget the greatest triumph of all, on
Easter morning where the power of sin and death were broken by the resurrection of Jesus. I hope you do vote this year. That's important. Just don't
lose sight of Jesus' call to find triumph in His kingdom by taking up our cross and being willing to follow Him. In

Bless Me Ultima Character Analysis
Bless Me, Ultima
Tragedy:
In the book, Bless Me, Ultima, Antonio witnesses four deaths when all is said and done, but two of them stand apart, because they're murders. Whether
the death of Lupito, himself a murderer, at the hands of the town mob that includes Antonio's dad is justified or not doesn't change the fact that he is
the victim of a violent murder. Raving in the river, he's shot down by multiple bullets, and Antonio witnesses the whole thing.
Antonio's multiple tragedies made him a stronger human being throughout the novel.
Ultima helped guide young Antonio with her wisdom. As Antonio feels the loss of his innocence, he looks to religion to answer his concerns. Antonio
eventually understands that loss of innocence is a crucial part of growing up.
Anaya, Rudolfo A. Bless me, Ultima. Grand Central Pub., 2013.
Bless Me, Ultima
Triumph
"It is because good is always stronger than evil. Always remember that, Antonio. The smallest bit of good can stand against all the powers of evil in the
world and it will emerge triumphant." –Ultima (ch.10)
As Antonio is going through life, Ultima uses her wisdom to guide him through his obstacles. Antonio is triumphant at the end because he finally
matured and loses his innocence because he persevered through his different tragedies.
Anaya, Rudolfo A. Bless me, Ultima. Grand Central Pub., 2013.
Bless Me, Ultima
Interpretation
To me, Antonio's tragedies in, Bless Me, Ultima, helps the world understand that even though it is hard to get through the hard times, that it is possible
to be triumphant.
Tragedies are a big reason in growing up, there are life lessons, like the lesson "Don't live in the past, Learn from the past."

Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah...
In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and imagery to dramatize her young heroine's adventure,
shifting the tone from ambivalent to triumphant. Aided by characterization and imagery, the story's initial tone is ambivalent because of the mixed
emotions Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, "She had always believed that whoever climbed to the top of it could see the
ocean... Sylvia began with the utmost bravery to mount to the top of it". As the story develops, Sylvia's courage remains intact when climbing becomes
strenuous, "The way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held her and scratched her like angry talons". The author's use of
characterization shows the reader how courageous Sylvia is. The ambivalent tone is created through the rising tension that is described throughout
Sylvia's characterization. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the author uses imagery to develop the tone. The narrator described the tree itself: "There was the huge tree asleep yet in the paling
moonlight...". Later, the narrator explains, "The tree seemed to lengthen itself as she went up and to reach farther and farther upward". Prior to
climbing, there is no reason to believe that the act of climbing could become difficult based on the imagery provided. In fact, the tree's beautiful
appearance almost begs Sylvia to climb it in the "paling moonlight". While climbing, however, the ambivalent tone progresses as the tree seems to
stretch "farther and farther" most likely causing some drawbacks in Sylvia's

Rood Vs Beowulf
Heroic Actions Pay Off
"The Dream of the Rood"
"The Son was victorious in venturing forth, / mighty and triumphant when he returned with many, / a company of souls to the Kingdom of God"
(150–152).
Beowulf
"The treasure had been won, bought and paid for by Beowulf's death.
Both had reached the end of the road, through the life they had been lent" (2842–2845). "The Dream of the Rood" and Beowulf both have similarities
that show a heroic image for the main character in the stories. These two passages both show how the heroic character in the end of their stories
received a glorious ending to their lives. For example, in "The Dream of the Rood" the particular line, "a company of souls to the Kingdom of God"
is describing how the Rood reached the ultimate afterlife with God after everything the Rood has been through. This passage shows that the Rood was a
hero by being triumphant in everything that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People show respect to heroes in different ways if they are from a different culture or area from someone else. The Rood was respected as a hero
by going to the "ultimate" afterlife for that culture. The culture that was around the Rood was Christianity and they believe if someone does
enough good deeds they will be able to live their life in heaven. To these people everything the Rood went through and stood for was a heroic
image for them to see the Rood not fall before the man. However, in Beowulf there was no talk about a heaven or a god it was more about the
riches. Beowulf fought all the monsters and evil that attacked towns to receive the label they called a hero. After Beowulf defeated the monsters he
would receive "the treasure had been won" by him. In this time era the heroes received a lot of treasure for example, gold, silver, goblets and so on.
So the people back then knew who were royalty of were heroes by how much money or treasure they

Gender–Specific Slavery
During the period of the Civil War, chattel slavery was very prominent in the United States in the 19th century. Being treated more as personal
property as opposed to an actual human being, some slaves managed to rebel and write down their account of white slave owners' dehumanization
of black slaves. In social reformer and writer Frederick Douglass' Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass an American Slave he writes of
rebelling against his physically abusive owners and triumphantly gaining freedom. In writer Harriet Ann Jacobs narrative Incidents in the Life of a
Slave Girl, Jacobs writes of rebelling against her sexually abusive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then writes of the time at which he was seven years old where he was sold to work for a white family. It was here that he slowly and
painstakingly taught himself the rudiments of reading and writing. It was here that Douglass learned that the lack of slaves' education keeps them
ignorant and therefore easier to control. Douglass then writes of a major turning point in his life where his owner sent him to do field work with an
abusive plantation owner who mentally and physically dehumanized him, "I was somewhat unmanageable when I first went there, but a few months of
this discipline tamed me. Mr. Covey succeeded in breaking me. I was broken in body, soul, and spirit. My natural elasticity was crushed, my intellect
languished, the disposition to read departed, the cheerful spark that lingered about my eye died; the dark night of slavery closed in upon me; and behold
a man transformed into a brute!" (Douglass 918). Here, Douglass is describing that he is going through such relentless abuse that his human qualities
are practically being beaten out of him, becoming more of a creature in nature. Douglass then writes of how he finally rebelled against the slave holder
and they started fighting, after the slave holder runs off, so does Douglass, who vows to never be whipped again. Douglass then writes of his freedom
from torment and how triumphant he feels for

Rhetorical Analysis Of Worth The Wait By Rick Reilly

Sport Illustrated's, Rick Reilly, tells Ben Comen's story, a teenager with cerebral palsy who runs for his high school's cross–country team, in his article
"Worth the Wait." In the article, Reilly informs the audience of the previously mentioned situation that Ben is in, while also mentioning Ben's process
of overcoming all odds and managing to finish the races with the entire crowd cheering him on. Reilly establishes a triumphant tone with the aid of

He mostly uses the comparisons and imagery when he is describing Ben's spectators and his friends who follow him as he finishes the race. In the
beginning, when Reilly is inquiring the audience, he adds, "Why do they nearly break their wrists applauding a junior who falls flat on his face
almost every race?" More examples in the piece being, "The other day Ben was coming in with his huge army, Ben's friends," and "I've never met
anyone with the drive that Ben has." Ben's utmost positivity in the situation that he is in has definitely touched the hearts of many in the Hanna High
School area. It persuades people to attend watching him run, even though he's comes in last and people applaud extremely when he finishes, only
extreme positivity can make people do that, it even persuaded Reilly to show up. It was exceedingly important for Reilly to write about Ben's
story because it spreaded Ben's story to most of the world, and the more coverage on stories like this only creates good for the it. His inclusion of
extreme comparisons and imagery paints a picture of what it's like to attend a race that Ben is in, making people want to actually attend one. He
even directly says this by saying, "Feel like you could use a little dose of humanity? Get yourself to Hanna. And while you're at it, go out and join
Ben's Friends." More people knowing about Ben's story means more people exposed to the idea and message of not giving up, and you can turn a

Man has been painting since the beginning of existence. In fact, it was one of the very first methods of expression and communication ever used
by humans. Art has been used to represent diverse kinds of religion, beliefs, and points of from all around the world as a form of expression that
could last forever and speak every language. At this time I am going to refer to a specific form of art. This type of art is painting. I am also going to
refer to a particular painting. This distinct painting is titled Christ Triumphant Over Sin and Death by Peter Paul Ruben (1577–1640) and is in the

Christ is sitting on top of a rock, holding a scepter in his left hand. This scepter is a symbol of power and authority. There are two angels bringing
crowns to Christ made of laurel flowers and there is also an archangel bringing a vivid red cape for the lord. Right beside the angels you can see
the fire of hell in crimson and saffron bright colors. It is very easy to perceive the power that Christ holds over all. Under his feet a snake seems to
be slithering representing sin. Also beneath him there is a skull representing death. The strengths for the painting are a perfect match between the title
and the artist representation. The background was made trying to get the attention of the viewer in Christ and the objets around him, but it is almost
impossible to describe the place. The colors of the background are dark and out of focal point; what I think leaves up to the viewer imagination to
decide were it took place. It is very easy to understand the meaning of the painting but I cannot make a real description of were it suppose to take place.
The idea of the painting seems to represent the difference between good and evil. It also seems to be teaching us that in all situations goodness will
persevere over evil. Peter Paul Ruben feeds us this idea when he applies beaming active colors to the faces on the characters in the painting. He does
this in order to pull the observer into the overall theme of the piece.

The Tell Tale Heart Vs Cask Amontillado
In most murder stories, the perspective is put through the eyes of a detective, or just in a third person view. The atmosphere set by the characters rise
tension, as the murderers unk, and the remaining aspects are only gradually revealed throughout the story. This tension is one of the aspects of any
murder story that makes it so much better than the rest, especially in one of the popular stories from the author Edgar Allen Poe, "The Tell Tale
Heart", though it is not told from the detective's point of new, instead it's told from the murderer himself. If it is from such an odd perspective, one
may ask how it is such a good story in the first place. However, aspects like the perspective, plot, tension in the plot, structure, and setting, exhibited...

This merit is exhibited from the event where Montresor, the main character, leads Fortunato into the Catacombs gradually, as to create suspense, to the
moment the reader is signified of Fortunato's death, as a climax, the most intriguing part. For example, the story builds suspense by stretching out the
time the reader spends reading about the catacombs. "The wine sparkled in his eyes and the bells jingled. My own fancy grew warm with the medoc.
We had passed through walls of piled bones, with casks and puncheons intermingling, into the inmost recesses of the catacombs" (Poe,135). Describing
every aspect of the setting creates suspension, as if the reader is actually there, expecting something unprecedented to happen. One thing led to another,
and the climax was met, as Fortunato was essentially entombed alive. However, this rising action and the climax happens in the Tell–Tale Heart as well,
except it ends in a better way. In the Cask of Amontillado, the climax is the ending, and there is no sign of how the character was affected by his
actions, no epiphany or self discovery. The Cask of Amontillado abruptly stops; it drags the reader until he is very intrigued by it, but there is no

Bob Dylan Definition Of Success
How successful do you believe yourself to be? Is your definition of success established by grades or by money? Or as a result of the amount of
enjoyable personal experiences you've had in your life? Bob Dylan is quoted as saying, "A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets
to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do." This may be Mr. Dylan's opinion of personal prosperity, but his idea of his success may
be another man's failure. Success is simply not a concept which can be confined to a predetermined set of ideals, as the success of one's life is
completely subjective. Mr. Dylan may have led a triumphant career in his almost sixty years of rocking out for the masses, but a student such as
myself cannot measure my success in quite the same way. My personal goals are to achieve the best grades, participate in the extracurricular activities
I love, and move on to an excellent college to obtain a prosperous career. These goals are not particularly things I want to do, as Bob Dylan implied,
whereas they are milestones towards a larger aspiration. Take the different careers for example. A doctor's success might be found in helping a patient
or performing a delicate surgery without any malfunctions. Furthermore, a teacher may reach his or her victory once a difference is made in the lives ...

Django Unchained: The Triumphant Bounty Hunter A large amount of films that are about slavery usually fall into the same repetition of the slaves
finding away to get freed or escape the plantations they work on to go to the North. Django Unchained is different because the film focuses more on the
progression of Django's revenge and hunt for his wife. Although this film is highly packed with quick action and racial slang, Django portrays a fresh,

the norm of a basic slave, to become a hero for all. In a way, Django represents all of the enslaved people, who want to get their revenge on their

Weber Basson Essay
Anson Wong Bsn, [03.11.16 17:21]
The Weber Bassoon Concerto Op. 75 in F major, along with the Mozart Bassoon Concerto in B flat major, K. 191/186e, are always considered by
bassoonists, as the most important and significant solo repertoires ever written in the history of bassoon, the instrument always disregard by composers
due to its limited register and dynamic range. The work, written from November 14 to 27, 1811, manifestly marked Weber as the first vital composer of
the Romantic school. Bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt of Munich Court Orchestra, a student of the famous soloist Georg Wenzel Ritter (Mozart's
favourite bassoonist), among numerous instrumentalists of the court orchestra who begged Weber to write concertos for them during Weber's arrival in
Munich, the first city of the tour, is the only one who convinced the King of Prussia to commission a bassoon concerto from Weber. Brandt premiered
the concerto on December 28, 1811, in the prestigious Munich Hoftheater.

##pretation In 'Sonnets 18' By Kenneth Rexroth's Sonnet 18
Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare is one of his seminal works, in which he compares his mistress to many things that occur amongst nature. He says
that she is more "lovely and more temperate (than that of a summer's day)." There is no more grandiose metaphor than that of nature for nature has
crafted its beauty for epochs amongst the fiery hell that was the beginning of life. Even though nature is the epitome of beauty, it's still imperfect or just
simply, inconvenient. With this, he begins to negate the natural world by saying that rough winds shake the buds of May, summer is too short, the sun
is sometimes too hot (or hides behind the clouds) and that everything that is beautiful will at one point lose its beauty: but hark! Not his fair mistress!
The volta in the poem brings a critical juxtaposition. It highlights the important fact that his mistress supersedes all of the annoyances of nature. He
says that her youth shall not fade nor shall her beauty for the mere fact that she will live amongst the lines of his humble composition for as long as
there are humans, the poem itself shall live on, rendering his mistress an immortal. All of this accumulates and proclaims a powerful statement of
romantic transcendence beyond death. Meanwhile, Your Birthday in the California Mountains (YBITCM)by Kenneth Rexroth is a sort of quaint and
passionate elegy for a late lover. Rexroth begins with evocative and stimulating imagery of a scenic nature background during a dinner date. He

Hippolyte Delaroche's The Conquerors Of The Bastille
Lasted from 1789 to 1799, French Revolution had a great impact on the world history, with the fall of the Bastille becoming the greatest symbolic act of
French Revolution. In the painting
The Conquerors of the Bastille before the Hotel de Ville in 1789, Hippolyte Delaroche depicts the conquerors of the Bastille paraded outside City Hall
in Paris. The painting shows the triumphant atmosphere among the mob, and the determination of the Third Estate to overthrow the monarch and
establish a new nation. "Little by little, the old world crumbled, and not once did the king imagine that some of the pieces might fall on him"
(Donnelly, p23). In the 1770s, France was divided into three social classes, with the Third Estate being the bourgeoisie and... Show more content on

Like Thomas Sankara said, "French
Revolution taught us the rights of men." On the right of the painting was the lightest part caused by chiaroscuro, and it shows a man sitting on top of
other two men, showing the keys to the Bastille triumphantly. His clothes were orderly and he wore a garland around his head. He is presumably the
leader of the mob. To the right, a woman is leaning at the shoulder of his husband with her hand wounded. She is impotent and helpless while standing
infirmly. This reveals that women were called up for the rebellion and they participated actively in it. Although women were not entitled to rights after
the French Revolution ended, just as Yves Bessieres argued: "Yet of what were the crowds that marched on Versailles and overthrew the monarchy
made up? Mostly women. Who led them?
The women of the market district (la Halle). ...Were women indeed the vectors of the revolutionary uprising of the people? Yes! This is
unquestionable" (Bessieres, p3).

Personal Narrative Analysis
I attach myself to words, certain words and literature seem to draw out my inner optimist. I spend my free time watching biographies and
documentaries or reciting poetry of Langston Hughes and although I tip toe over a plethora of quotable sentences and words, I find myself stuck on
one in particular. The word that leaves footprints throughout the sands of my mind is "Triumphant" /trД«Л€Й™mfЙ™nt/ the dictionary defines the
word as "feeling or expressing jubilation after having won a victory or mastered a difficulty." In layman's terms it's just considered "winning" but
Triumphant to me means so much more. Growing up I have had my shares of troubles, I've had my shares of trials and tribulations that ended up

On The Roof Of The World By Sir Charles G. D. Roberts
1) I believe that there are many ways that the author has chosen to set–up a man and animal as competitors in the story "On The Roof Of The World"
by Sir Charles G. D. Roberts.
One of the reasons that the author has set up a man and an animal as competitors is that unlike normal circumstances where mankind is on top of the
food chain, higher that every other living thing known. In this short story, the man and the polar bear are on approximately the same level of the food
chain. As the bear is equipped with claws, the man evens himself out with the spear he had fashioned himself. The author seems write this to portray his
question of, is humankind more superior to other living species when having to live in almost the exact same conditions in which the animals live in?
Another way it thinks that the author has set–up a man and an animal as competitors is to show how similar things a human would do like an animal if
put in such a situation such as high winds, predators, and a constant danger of frostbite, a human would only care about three things, food, shelter and
water like an animal. With the only source of food, a human would resort to savage ways so similar to the ways of a polar bear as the story states,
"without an instant 's hesitation the man hurled his spear" (p. 164) and when "with a growl of rage, the bear tore it loose and charged upon the man"
(p. 164). This shows that when a human is exposed to this type of environment, they would kill for food without

Triumphant Failure
How would we know what success looks like if we have never failed? If failure was not an option no one would know what they are capable of.
Failure pushes people to work harder than they ever had just to get a taste of success. I have failed. However, it has been a triumphant failure because
I have learned so much more than just having it handed to me.
My least favorite color? That's easy! Forest Green. Why you ask? Well the answer is simple it has been the color of my hockey shirt for the past

stat I have is the minutes I have spent on the bench. In a sense he is right; it is impressive that I have sat on the bench for 5,540 minutes and never
complained. I see this as an accomplishment, I have been able to hide my true feelings and put my teammates first. It is more important to me that
I help them to succeed because then I see that as my job; to push everyone around me to do their best. However, I still focus on my own goal, to
feel that split second of success that is only felt by scoring. Everyday at practice I would take a little time to teach myself how to score. By
shooting pucks everyday trying to score every single one, learning how to see beyond the goalie so that the puck would finally go in. This year all
my hard work paid off I scored my first goal versus Waltham. The place went bizerk. All the parents were on their feet cheering and my coach

Oprah: A Triumphant Individual Oprah Winfrey completely encompasses the cultural narrative of a triumphant individual. A cultural narrative is a

The Role Of Evil In Euripides Medea
The world created in Euripides' Medea is one where there is an irrefutable presence of evil and suffering; darkness pervades the play at many points
but whether or not it is the dominant characteristic of the play is less certain. Although Medea is ultimately triumphant in her quest for vengeance on
Jason, the idea that 'evil' itself is triumphant in the overall sense of the play at its conclusion is much less true. The evidence for this is that despite the
turmoil of the play, there is still an obvious existence of love, compassion and grief; emotions which are polarised against evil. Furthermore, while
Medea herself is the primary instigator of the most tragic event in the play, she could also be described as an innocent victim, for it was ... Show more

The suffering of innocents take place in the form of Medea's children, where she murders them out of her own selfish desire for revenge. This was
the incident that ultimately polarised both the audience and the chorus against her; the children were innocent in all sense and their murder was a
crime that Medea herself described as 'terrible'. Yet the sense of injustice aligned with these actions permeates the entire play to the extent that
these murders may in fact simply have been the materialisation of the generally chaotic and depressing world created by Euripides. The children's
death were but one of many examples of innocence suffering; some would perceive Glauce and Creon as innocent, but furthermore and most
significantly, Medea herself may be a victim of this dark world. At the opening of the play, the Nurse explained that "Jason has betrayed my lady
[Medea] and his own children for a princess' bed" [18], causing Medea to feel "the sting of injustice" [110]. In Medea's acrimonious feministic
speech she highlighted the suffering of women as a result of the underlying sexism Greece. The ancient Greek societal paradigm of the ideal woman
was one where they were force to take "a master to play the tyrant with [their] bodies" []; a concept that modern audiences would recognise as
appalling. Aside from these specific examples of where innocents suffer, Euripides provided several comments that essentially prove that he intended
for the world of Medea to be somewhat depressing. The seemingly pessimistic statement given by the messenger (who existed purely to provide
commentary on the play) – "When fortune's tide flows towards him, one man may surpass another in prosperity, but you should not call him happy"
[1231] – suggests that Euripides may have been deliberately attempting to remove happiness from the play; suffering of

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Essay
In "One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich", Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn presents to us the central leading character named Ivan Deniosovich Shukhov.
Shukhov was an inmate at labor Camp HQ somewhere in Russia. He was in the "special camp" for being accused of treason or being involved in
political crimes. He was an ordinary individual, who was quite simple, and avoided being bitter. He was disciplined, and not only by the system, but by
his own values. For instance, the author, Solzhenitsyn states that, "Next, he removed his cap from his shaven head–how–ever cold it was, he wouldn't
let himself eat with his cap on–and stirred up his skilly, quickly checking what had found its way into his bowl" (17)." From this quote, we notice how

do, and didn't get in trouble for his metal item. But the irony of this ending was that Solzhenitsyn lets his readers know that Shukhov still has a
long way to go; "Just one of the 3,653 days of his sentence, from bell to bell (182)." In class, our professor posed a question to us asking us if the
ending was an example of a triumphant human spirit or is he feeling impressed by the way the system has acquired so much power? For the rest of

D. Roberts has a lot to do with the story. The title describes the atmosphere itself and the happenings on the Arctic. For example, imagine the entire
world is a two story house. The basement of the house is Antarctic while the first story of the house is approximately covering the bottom of the
equator and the second story is on top of the equator and the sides of the earth are the sides of the house. As you know from a typical house with the

is the same with the "roof" of the earth which is the Arctic. The arctic ranges from –50 celsius to 0 degrees celsius and in the book, it states "it seemed

A Triumphant Ending For The Hero
All villains are antagonists but not all antagonists are villains, It has been established in classic literature that the purpose of a villain sis to create a

pursuance of the protagonist to impede their clichГ© happy ending. Detective Fix, as tenacious and stubborn as he is, offers much more than an
antagonist who is fated to meet his doom in the end. Fix exists to drive the plot; diverting the sequence of events to satisfy his interests, rather than

kids trying to be seen as more grown, but with the actual responsibilities of being an adult. Are marketers responsible for these accusations? These were

making them into global consumers, trying to figure out ways in which they can turn them in consumers, while trying to accommodate to the cultural
differences of those countries, and marketers are successful in these strategies because kids generally all want the same things. They make all these
kids feel confident and empowered as they have their parents buying them these things, or even buying these things themselves to turn them into

from his/her identity. Throughout a person's life, it is important to find what defines him/her and figure out how he/she can gain more independence

and the touch of their cheeks. All along the journey homeward their presence lingered with her like the memory of a delicious song. But by the time
she had regained the city the song no longer echoed in her soul. She was again alone" (Chopin 95). Edna is evidently becoming more independent as
the story progresses. Although a somber tone is portrayed from this quote, the author is trying to establish a more triumphant tone through Edna's

is specifically unique and helps portray the triumphant tone by showing that Edna is becoming happier as she becomes more independent. Although
Edna feels alone, the author's triumphant tone shows that she is gaining her identity as an individual as she is separated from her peers and family. The
children in the story represent an obligation, which Edna feels she could do without. Through the triumphant tone, the author clearly implies that Edna

God's Metamorphosis Of The Tower Of Babel
Before the Fall of Man everything was "good." God created humankind in his own image and left us to take care of the world. In the Garden of Eden,
Heaven and Earth were one and God will many times would walk and talk to Adam. Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam and Eve fell
short and disobeyed the rule that God gave them. Sin entered the world through humanity and tainted the relationship we had with Him and the
creation as a whole. Although humanity has been the conduit of destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation through humanity. God's
threefold plan to restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel, depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the church seeking out to join Heaven
and Earth.
God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He
will "make of [Abraham] a great nation." At this point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity mounted
towards a path of self–destruction. By Genesis 11, in the story of the tower of Babel, God seems dissatisfied with humankind and makes it difficult to
communicate among one another. The story of Abraham gives hope that God will make a great nation from a man, whom is just as impure as the rest
of humanity. God continues his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

piano compositions at the age of 12. At the age of 18, he became the legal guardian of both of his younger brothers, after the death of his mother and

love letter that he wrote to a women. He only referred to her as the "immortal beloved" and did not use a name. It was said to have been written
about Viennese aristocrat Antonie Brentano and was never sent out, but found in a drawer after his death. Beethoven had reached complete deafness
in the 1810's. At this time he piano playing and conducting were deteriorating. At the age of 44 he was no longer able to play in public, but insisted
on conducting still. Often times the performances were chaotic and he was hard to comprehend by musicians. He had a custody battle for his nephew
Karl, in which he won. This caused disaster as Beethoven craved attention and companionship. After 1818, Beethoven conducted some of his greatest

The captain's only apparently vicious actions and reprimands occur towards the soldiers. He explains that this is because he is compassionate
towards the victims of the soldiers' torments. Corelli only punishes soldiers in relatively extreme ways because he is so angry that they can ignore
the fundamental levels of civility and goodness. He is able to continue to show this kind of reaction as an example as he ascends in Pelagia's view as
Mandras descends into a militant who will harm others for no reason.
Another element of Corelli's goodness is that allows himself to love although he has fallen in love with a Greek girl. He is unable to be angry with
Pelagia, even though in her confused state about what she feels for him, she tries to hurt and

The Beethoven's Fifth Symphony
The starting music comes with a sort of mysterious, cheerful vibe.
As the first animation comes into focus with a suspenseful entry, the visuals show a bright light. The music and the visuals show that something is
happening and that it is somewhat new. As the music gets softer, so do the images. When the dynamic is more mezzopiano, there is a slow movement,
showing that there is a change happening, but that it might not be drastic. But, as a black image goes to the screen and attempts to "eat" the one golden
fold, the music is again suspenseful. The beat of the music correlates with the lights on the screen, probably a ray of sunlight. This was Beethoven's
fifth symphony, which starts to paint the picture of good and evil.

Each note on the instruments inspires something new in the city. As you zoom in, there is a person whole is sleeping. The sped up, suspenseful
mood says that something speedy is coming and that he needs to hurry up. Hurtling over wet pavement and jumping on a newspaper truck, the
man exits the scene. There is a new scene, of a man at the bar, having drunk a lot, decided to leave. All the whole, there is a line of people running
back and forth. The man gets a coin to pay and goes on his way. The scene of the man js again there, riding up a construction building. He looks
happy and starts to do his job. In another place, men have just been let out of their jobs and start on the ride on the train home. This, however, is
cramped the whole way, and then everybody goes into the elevator. The man is brought back to attention, starting to eat his lunch. He uses a tool to
smash his walnuts, and the desperate man is brought back into sight, deciding not to steal an apple. A mother walking her daughter home, and a ballet
students have the cheerful mood and look very happy. The little girl plays the piano and a new character is brought to attention. Soon after, the
cheerful but sad mood is introduced when a wealthy family is brought into view. A man is having stuff piled on him. All three men look out the
window, and a sad tune plays to show they are all desperate and

  • 1. The Dynamic Character Of Trisha In Thank You Mr. Falker In the children's book Thank You Mr Falker, Trisha always wanted to learn how to read books. She didn't really know how to read because she couldn't pronounce any words by herself, and she couldn't even read one sentence because she had a reading disability.Kids began to make fun of her because she couldn't read. She began to doubt herself and she never knew how to read, until she met Mr Falker. Mr falker who was a teacher at the time always stayed after school with Trisha to practice reading with her, until she grasped the concept.Trisha is a dynamic character because in the beginning she had a lot of struggles with reading. At the end she felt triumphant and happy because she finally learned how to read because of Mr . falker. Right at the start at the story, Trisha displays her excitement and hope for reading. Trisha grew up always loving books. Her mom would always read her books every night, and when she was outside during the day her grandma and grandpa would read to her too. She hoped to read in kindergarten but other kids had suspicions that she would be terrible at reading. "Don't worry trisha". You are the smartest ,quickest, dearest... • 2. Good Vs. Evil In Book IV Of Philosophy By Boethius In the world we live in today, we may question how good is powerful anymore. Looking back, it's hard to see when good was ever truly triumphing over evil. In Book IV of Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, Lady Philosophy claims that, "the good are always powerful and the evil are weak and futile." If you look at the world around us, that statement is unfortunately a bit laughable. But you have to look a little closer – what is this type of power? Is the power that one of goodness contains different than our materialistic, tangible pre–conceived definition of power? What are the struggles that make them powerful and triumphant? Looking back on human history, what acts were ultimately deemed triumphant – acts of evil, or acts of goodness? The definition and the way we see power is interpreted differently by everyone, and is probably why this topic is very controversial. What is power? What type of power is possessed by good, versus the power possessed by evil? While I agree that good is powerful and evil is weak, some may struggle to see how. Evil is everywhere. Good seems to have a silent voice to which people pay no mind. It is hard to be good. It has always been hard to be good. The good are persecuted and it often seems evil always triumphs. But you must look at the life of a good person – they struggle through the snares and jeers of their peers, coaxing them to give in to what's 'cool' and 'normal'. Good people are constantly bullied and put down because the choices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Phantom of the Opera Review Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of the most beloved and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired and loosely based on the characters and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the actors that created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webberwho is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of theOpera that set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This makes it unique because most of today's musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this is done is with the main theme of the musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well–known themes in musical theatre and it is reminiscent of rock music with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a guitar. There are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of musical and opera. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The multi–billion African–American woman is continuously ranked number one on the Forbes list of most powerful American celebrities. Why is she so extremely successful? The reasons why Oprah Winfrey is on top of Forbes list of most influential American celebrities are primarily her high profile and the many mentions in the press and social networks. Forbes states, "Unlike most Forbes lists, which are based on earnings or net worth, our annual Celebrity 100 takes a stab at measuring that most ephemeral of riches: fame" (Forbes.com). This paper will analyze Oprah Winfrey as an icon, the shining example of someone who made it as well as why she is considered one of the most powerful women in the world. Before Oprah Winfrey was "Oprah" Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her parents were underage and unmarried when she was born. Her childhood and adolescence years were challenging. Oprah Winfrey lived with her grandmother until she moved to Milwaukee, WI at the age of six to live with her mother. In the drama All My Sons by Arthur Miller, Joe Keller does not play a true hero but a tragic one. Joe Keller, a well–respected business man, father, and a family pleaser; held his head up high and felt he was on top of a totem pole. He changed his business from a washing machine company into a multi–million dollar company that builds more than just washer machines. • 8. Triumph Definition Essay "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." (Matthew 16:24 NIV) I love presidential election years. I really do. I'm well aware that even at this early date, most of the country is showing signs of deep election and debate fatigue. But I have to admit, for all of the debates, polls, articles etc, I enjoy it. It's not that I'm a political junkie by any means. I like to be informed about what happens in our country and I find it important to look at the trends we see in people's thoughts so we can best address their lives with the reality of the Gospel. But you have to admit, the entire process says a lot about who we are. Apparently we are angry. I've not quite determined what we are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our world says triumph is about winning. Getting more delegates. Beating down the other person. It's about being angry and getting your way. The cross reminds us that God has a different definition of what triumph is. Triumph is not about displaced anger, but unconditional, unmerited love. Triumph is not about getting ones' way at any cost, but about obedience to God. Triumph is not about getting more, it's about how much of ourselves we can give away. Triumph is sacrificial. What the world saw as a waste, unfulfilled promise, became the greatest moment of triumph ever. On the cross, every sin we have ever committed was set upon Jesus shoulders. We have been forgiven because of His willingness to pay the price for us. In HIs death the price was paid, iN his wounds we find the healing of our own scars. Let us not forget the greatest triumph of all, on Easter morning where the power of sin and death were broken by the resurrection of Jesus. I hope you do vote this year. That's important. Whether the death of Lupito, himself a murderer, at the hands of the town mob that includes Antonio's dad is justified or not doesn't change the fact that he is the victim of a violent murder. Raving in the river, he's shot down by multiple bullets, and Antonio witnesses the whole thing. Antonio's multiple tragedies made him a stronger human being throughout the novel. • 11. Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah... In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and imagery to dramatize her young heroine's adventure, shifting the tone from ambivalent to triumphant. Aided by characterization and imagery, the story's initial tone is ambivalent because of the mixed emotions Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, "She had always believed that whoever climbed to the top of it could see the ocean... Sylvia began with the utmost bravery to mount to the top of it". As the story develops, Sylvia's courage remains intact when climbing becomes strenuous, "The way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held her and scratched her like angry talons". The author's use of characterization shows the reader how courageous Sylvia is. The ambivalent tone is created through the rising tension that is described throughout Sylvia's characterization. Prior to climbing, there is no reason to believe that the act of climbing could become difficult based on the imagery provided. Rood Vs Beowulf Heroic Actions Pay Off "The Dream of the Rood" "The Son was victorious in venturing forth, / mighty and triumphant when he returned with many, / a company of souls to the Kingdom of God" (150–152). Beowulf "The treasure had been won, bought and paid for by Beowulf's death. Both had reached the end of the road, through the life they had been lent" (2842–2845). "The Dream of the Rood" and Beowulf both have similarities that show a heroic image for the main character in the stories. These two passages both show how the heroic character in the end of their stories received a glorious ending to their lives. For example, in "The Dream of the Rood" the particular line, "a company of souls to the Kingdom of God" is describing how the Rood reached the ultimate afterlife with God after everything the Rood has been through. To these people everything the Rood went through and stood for was a heroic image for them to see the Rood not fall before the man. However, in Beowulf there was no talk about a heaven or a god it was more about the riches. Beowulf fought all the monsters and evil that attacked towns to receive the label they called a hero. After Beowulf defeated the monsters he would receive "the treasure had been won" by him. In this time era the heroes received a lot of treasure for example, gold, silver, goblets and so on. Gender Specific Slavery During The Period Of The Civil War Wilhelm 1 Christian Wilhelm Professor Pinney ENGL 2655/3655 28 December 2014 Gender–Specific Slavery During the period of the Civil War, chattel slavery was very prominent in the United States in the 19th century. Being treated more as personal property as opposed to an actual human being, some slaves managed to rebel and write down their account of white slave owners' dehumanization of black slaves. It was here that he slowly and painstakingly taught himself the rudiments of reading and writing. Douglass then writes of a major turning point in his life where his owner sent him to do field work with an abusive plantation owner who mentally and physically dehumanized him, "I was somewhat unmanageable when I first went there, but a few months of this discipline tamed me. Mr. Covey succeeded in breaking me. I was broken in body, soul, and spirit. My natural elasticity was crushed, my intellect languished, the disposition to read departed, the cheerful spark that lingered about my eye died; the dark night of slavery closed in upon me; and behold a man transformed into a brute!" (Douglass 918). Here, Douglass is describing that he is going through such relentless abuse that his human qualities are practically being beaten out of him, becoming more of a creature in nature. This scepter is a symbol of power and authority. There are two angels bringing crowns to Christ made of laurel flowers and there is also an archangel bringing a vivid red cape for the lord. Right beside the angels you can see the fire of hell in crimson and saffron bright colors. It is very easy to perceive the power that Christ holds over all. Under his feet a snake seems to be slithering representing sin. Also beneath him there is a skull representing death. The strengths for the painting are a perfect match between the title and the artist representation. The background was made trying to get the attention of the viewer in Christ and the objets around him, but it is almost impossible to describe the place. The colors of the background are dark and out of focal point; what I think leaves up to the viewer imagination to decide were it took place. It is very easy to understand the meaning of the painting but I cannot make a real description of were it suppose to take place. The idea of the painting seems to represent the difference between good and evil. It also seems to be teaching us that in all situations goodness will persevere over evil. Peter Paul Ruben feeds us this idea when he applies beaming active colors to the faces on the characters in the painting. Or as a result of the amount of enjoyable personal experiences you've had in your life? Bob Dylan is quoted as saying, "A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do." This may be Mr. Dylan's opinion of personal prosperity, but his idea of his success may be another man's failure. Success is simply not a concept which can be confined to a predetermined set of ideals, as the success of one's life is completely subjective. Mr. Dylan may have led a triumphant career in his almost sixty years of rocking out for the masses, but a student such as myself cannot measure my success in quite the same way. My personal goals are to achieve the best grades, participate in the extracurricular activities I love, and move on to an excellent college to obtain a prosperous career. These goals are not particularly things I want to do, as Bob Dylan implied, whereas they are milestones towards a larger aspiration. Take the different careers for example. The work, written from November 14 to 27, 1811, manifestly marked Weber as the first vital composer of the Romantic school. Bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt of Munich Court Orchestra, a student of the famous soloist Georg Wenzel Ritter (Mozart's favourite bassoonist), among numerous instrumentalists of the court orchestra who begged Weber to write concertos for them during Weber's arrival in Munich, the first city of the tour, is the only one who convinced the King of Prussia to commission a bassoon concerto from Weber. He says that she is more "lovely and more temperate (than that of a summer's day)." There is no more grandiose metaphor than that of nature for nature has crafted its beauty for epochs amongst the fiery hell that was the beginning of life. Even though nature is the epitome of beauty, it's still imperfect or just simply, inconvenient. With this, he begins to negate the natural world by saying that rough winds shake the buds of May, summer is too short, the sun is sometimes too hot (or hides behind the clouds) and that everything that is beautiful will at one point lose its beauty: but hark! Not his fair mistress! The volta in the poem brings a critical juxtaposition. It highlights the important fact that his mistress supersedes all of the annoyances of nature. He says that her youth shall not fade nor shall her beauty for the mere fact that she will live amongst the lines of his humble composition for as long as there are humans, the poem itself shall live on, rendering his mistress an immortal. All of this accumulates and proclaims a powerful statement of romantic transcendence beyond death. Roberts 1) I believe that there are many ways that the author has chosen to set–up a man and animal as competitors in the story "On The Roof Of The World" by Sir Charles G. D. Roberts. One of the reasons that the author has set up a man and an animal as competitors is that unlike normal circumstances where mankind is on top of the food chain, higher that every other living thing known. In this short story, the man and the polar bear are on approximately the same level of the food chain. As the bear is equipped with claws, the man evens himself out with the spear he had fashioned himself. The author seems write this to portray his question of, is humankind more superior to other living species when having to live in almost the exact same conditions in which the animals live in? Another way it thinks that the author has set–up a man and an animal as competitors is to show how similar things a human would do like an animal if put in such a situation such as high winds, predators, and a constant danger of frostbite, a human would only care about three things, food, shelter and water like an animal. With the only source of food, a human would resort to savage ways so similar to the ways of a polar bear as the story states, "without an instant 's hesitation the man hurled his spear" (p. 164) and when "with a growl of rage, the bear tore it loose and charged upon the man" (p. 164). Yet the sense of injustice aligned with these actions permeates the entire play to the extent that these murders may in fact simply have been the materialisation of the generally chaotic and depressing world created by Euripides. The children's death were but one of many examples of innocence suffering; some would perceive Glauce and Creon as innocent, but furthermore and most significantly, Medea herself may be a victim of this dark world. At the opening of the play, the Nurse explained that "Jason has betrayed my lady [Medea] and his own children for a princess' bed" [18], causing Medea to feel "the sting of injustice" [110]. In Medea's acrimonious feministic speech she highlighted the suffering of women as a result of the underlying sexism Greece. The ancient Greek societal paradigm of the ideal woman was one where they were force to take "a master to play the tyrant with [their] bodies" []; a concept that modern audiences would recognise as appalling. Aside from these specific examples of where innocents suffer, Euripides provided several comments that essentially prove that he intended for the world of Medea to be somewhat depressing. The seemingly pessimistic statement given by the messenger (who existed purely to provide commentary on the play) – "When fortune's tide flows towards him, one man may surpass another in prosperity, but you should not call him happy" [1231] – suggests that Euripides may have been deliberately attempting to remove happiness from the play; suffering of ... • 28. One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Essay In "One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich", Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn presents to us the central leading character named Ivan Deniosovich Shukhov. Shukhov was an inmate at labor Camp HQ somewhere in Russia. He was in the "special camp" for being accused of treason or being involved in political crimes. He was an ordinary individual, who was quite simple, and avoided being bitter. He was disciplined, and not only by the system, but by his own values. For instance, the author, Solzhenitsyn states that, "Next, he removed his cap from his shaven head–how–ever cold it was, he wouldn't let himself eat with his cap on–and stirred up his skilly, quickly checking what had found its way into his bowl" (17)." From this quote, we notice how Shukhov takes pride in his values, regardless of his current condition.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Shukov's day comes to an end, he is feeling quite content and pleased. He accomplished the work he needed to do, and didn't get in trouble for his metal item. But the irony of this ending was that Solzhenitsyn lets his readers know that Shukhov still has a long way to go; "Just one of the 3,653 days of his sentence, from bell to bell (182)." In class, our professor posed a question to us asking us if the ending was an example of a triumphant human spirit or is he feeling impressed by the way the system has acquired so much power? It sends you on a wild emotional rollercoaster for the entire thirty–two minute length of the piece. The first movement is in sonata form, the second is in theme and variations form, the third is a scherzo and the last movement is also in sonata form. The ride begins with a first movement of chaos and suspense. The movement shifts back and forth between powerful dark dominant chords and motives and triumphant light lyrical melodies. The image that comes to mind is that of a chase in third person. The exposition starts off with a motive that is three short notes and one long one. • 30. Roof Of The World 1) I believe that there are many ways that the author has chosen to set–up a man and animal as competitors in the story "On The Roof Of The World" by Sir Charles G. D. Roberts. One of the reasons that the author has set up a man and an animal as competitors is that unlike normal circumstances where mankind is on top of the food chain, higher that every other living thing known, in this short story, the man and the bear are on approximately the same level of the food chain. As the bear is equipped with claws, the man evens himself out with the spear he has fashioned himself. The author seems to write this to portray his question of, is humankind more superior to other living species when having to live in almost the exact same conditions in ... As you know from a typical house with the windows unopened, the elements would not touch the basement and the first and second stories of the house, while the sides of the house are exposed to some of the elements. As most people know, the top of the house is exposed to almost everything the wind, rain, snow, hail and other elements. This is the same with the "roof" of the earth which is the Arctic. The arctic ranges from –50 celsius to 0 degrees celsius and in the book, it states "it seemed to be the very roof of the world, all naked to the outer cold, this flat, vast of solitude, dimly outspread beneath the Arctic night" (p. 159) which describes that nothing really happens in the Arctic like nothing would normally happen on the roof of a ... A Triumphant Ending For The Hero All villains are antagonists but not all antagonists are villains, It has been established in classic literature that the purpose of a villain sis to create a triumphant ending for the hero. In Jules Vern 's, Around the world in Eight Days, the antagonist possesses much more than simply being the bad guy in pursuance of the protagonist to impede their clichГ© happy ending. Detective Fix, as tenacious and stubborn as he is, offers much more than an antagonist who is fated to meet his doom in the end. Fix exists to drive the plot; diverting the sequence of events to satisfy his interests, rather than existing as a complement to valor. The dictionary definition of success is "a favorable outcome; good fortune." This is incorrect. Success is achieving your goals through perseverance and diligence. It is when you've achieved your goals yourself and they weren't just handed to you like a "good fortune." Success makes someone feel triumphant in what they've done or become. In the Garden of Eden, Heaven and Earth were one and God will many times would walk and talk to Adam. Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam and Eve fell short and disobeyed the rule that God gave them. Sin entered the world through humanity and tainted the relationship we had with Him and the creation as a whole. Although humanity has been the conduit of destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation through humanity. God's threefold plan to restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel, depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the church seeking out to join Heaven and Earth. God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He will "make of [Abraham] a great nation." At this point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity mounted towards a path of self–destruction.
