M.O.N (music of Norway), because I think it’s time for the British
people to understand that we Norwegians don’t usually listen to
”joiking” but to real music. Three of my English friends have
asked me if it is true that the Norwegians stand on the mountain
“joiking”, so I want to prove them that we don’t. We listen to cool
music, and I think they would like it. In my magazine I will
mention a lot of famous Norwegian artists/bands and give
music tips. I will also explain for an example what a “russesang”
is and make a Norwegian top list
3. Genre
Music magazine. I am making a music magazine because my
task wanted me to make one. I also think that making a music
magazine fits my interests, since I am very interested in music.
Many people read music magazines according to my Survey
Monkey respondents.
4. Cover price
My magazine will cost £2.99. I am using a smart trick that trick
a lot of readers, because I have priced my magazine as £2.99 not
£3.00. If I priced it as £3.00 it automatically looks more
expensive than £2.99! The price is quite expensive but this
makes the magazine more professional, and I think it’s a fair
price since it is released monthly not weekly. Q magazine is more
expensive than my magazine, so maybe their readers wants to
buy mine instead of theirs.
5. Issue frequency
(How often will the magazine be released?): monthly, because most of
my responses on the survey monkey liked monthly the best. Then
you have the whole month to read it, and it’s not so expensive (since
you don’t have to buy every week).A monthly magazine will have
more information, articles and talk about music rather than a weekly
magazine. My magazine will be released on the 1st in every month, so
it will be easy to remember to buy it. When it is released on the 1st the
readers get the feeling that they know the first about music every
month. The fact that the magazine is being published once a month
means that it is better quality of the magazine.
6. Reader profile
Steph is 17 years old and lives in York. After she came in the same class as
three Norwegians, she got very interested in Norway. Steph is also very
interested in music, and wondered how the Norwegian music sounded like.
Before asking she thought that Norwegian music was all “joiking” and no cool
stuff. When she asked her Norwegian friends to show her some, she was
really surprised because she had already heard a couple of famous songs
made by Norwegians!
Steph is very fond of music magazine, and when she heard there was a
music magazine based on Norwegian music to the British, she was very
excited. She likes magazines to be simple and pure in style, because a lot of
colours will get too messy. Steph likes music in many different genres, but if
she had to choose she would say she likes pop best. Steph listen to music
every day, and can listen to it everywhere she goes. “Music is what makes
everyday worth it!”, she says.
7. Magazine style, attitude & size
Since the magazine is called M.O.N (music of
Norway), I will make the design very “typical
Norwegian”. My cover model will therefore be
wearing a “Marius genser” (a sweater with
Marius pattern), I will also have the design in
the Marius pattern’s colours (blue, white and
read). I will keep it quite simple, but still
interesting and exciting.
8. Style
My Survey Monkey says that 79% like the magazine cover to be simple and
pure. I have therefore decided to have a very simple magazine cover, but still
interesting and creative. Since the title of my magazine is so short, I have
____________________ decided to place it in the left corner like NME. The
____________________ full name will stand under the masthead so that my
____________________ readers can see what the shortened version means.
My model will be placed in the middle of the cover In
____________________ a medium close up, I do not want to have a close up
____________________ because the model is wearing a Marius sweater. The
____________________ background is white. I will also have a box in the
____________________ right corner which NME has in the magazine
____________________ to the left.
9. My main colours will be
dark blue, red, brown and
white. I will have a barcode
in the right corner. My
taglines, cover lines will be
simple like the ones in the
Billboard magazine to the
left.

10. My contents page is going to
be matching to the front
cover. I am going to share
some of the pictures coming
up later in the magazine and
write what the main features
are. Colours are mainly black,
blue, red and white. My model
may stand beside the contents
like 50cent does in this
magazine.
