What Is Attitude Essay
Attitude is a choice in which each of us choose to take but often, we forget we have a choice at all.
Attitude can be a powerful tool for positive action or a poison that cripples your ability to fulfil your
potential. Your attitude determines whether you are living life or life is living you. It also determines
whether you are on the way or in the way. So to speak, self–confident people may suffer setbacks,
get dragged down by hard times, or make mistakes, but they still believe they will be successful and
come out being victorious. In the other way round, those who don't believe in themselves never
seem to find their way and due to this, they often seem to drift with the tides. To everything we do in
life, choice is the beginning or starting point and by changing our attitudes, we automatically change
our lives. If you want a positive attitude, you will need to be committed enough to work at/on it and
once you have discovered those things that have been holding you back, then it is time to look ahead
and analyze where you want to go. To achieving success in life, it is necessary ... Show more

The limits of our mind–set is enough to determine the boundaries of our future. When we become
fixated on the problems, we become paralyzed but when we look ahead for solutions, we are
indirectly taking responsibility and some measure of control over our lives. Thus, it is up to you to
assign a value or meaning on the point of view you decide to take. You can turn attitude into action
to find purpose and passion but lack of vision will definitely get you lost. Comfort zones can be
treacherous when you believe that, "I just can't leave what I'm familiar with, no matter the level of
frustration I get." So, it is easy to become angry about standing still but being afraid to move and if
you don't make the move, sooner or later, life makes a move on

Good Times By Lucille Clifton Essay
The quality of family life largely function's on economic stability. Many families struggling to meet
basic needs can take the simple things for granted rather than finding the joy in life. Lucille Clifton's
poem "Good Times" is a recollection of her own childhood, first presented through her youthful
mind and demeanor then as an advising adult. The speaker indirectly expresses her family's
financial burdens through her excitement of the bills finally being paid, and then she describes how
the joy of this occasion has a domino effect on the rest of her family, emphasizing the importance of
simple life. Through Clifton's "Good Times" she conveys the desirous necessity of financial stability
and its effects on one's happiness in life but, in turn, the importance of one's appreciation for
moments of joy through times of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these lines the speaker uses childlike diction and grammar, "my daddy" and "lights is", creating a
vulnerable and honest tone. She establishes her father's financial responsibilities and the burden he
had finally paid, signifying the beginning of good times. Yet, Clifton rhymes two contrasting words
"gone and on"; these rhyming words represent how good moments come without warning, and they
need to be appreciated because nothing is guaranteed in life. Lines four and five, "my uncle brud has
hit for one dollar straight...", addresses the luck that is associated with good times, resurfacing the
obsession and need for money. Thus, an increase in one's level of happiness is "the promise of doing
better monetarily and feeling more financially secure" (Simon). In the final lines of the stanza, the
speaker uses repetition: "they is good times, good times, good times"; this reinforces the comforting
satisfaction of momentary financial stability for the speaker, but also the importance one should
associate with the admirable moments of

One More Drink For The Good Times
One More Drink for the Good Times "Let's meet up and indulge in a little drinking this weekend!!"
That statement is one heard among the college community nationwide nowadays. Binge drinking
with others to gain new friendships, meet people, among other reasons, on college campuses is the
thought process countless students believe today. "The Harvard School of Public Health found in
1993 that binge drinking is widespread on American campuses, particularly among members of
fraternities and sororities (Bruffee, 1999)." If college students think binge drinking and partying is
"cool" and the best way to meet new friends, they need to think again! Binge drinking is a career
killer with terrible consequences. Finding and receiving the available support when it becomes out
of control is the key to gaining a successful college education and finishing school with a degree.
Friends or no friends! First–year college students start out with few friendships in the beginning and
typically have a strong desire to make new friends as soon as possible. Some have a belief making
new buddies requires participating in binge drinking, yet doing so is not worth the dangers and risk.
"Binge drinking is tied to some of the most desired aspects of American college life–parties, social
lines, dormitory living, athletics, and interaction with friends (Wechsler, Dowdall, Davenport, and
Castillo, 1995)." Every college student wants to have fun with friends while attending

Hot Stuff's Concert Or Good Times: An Economic Analysis
Entirely, rational intellectuals attempt to make decisions to get the most out of their life. Rational
people always think about implicit and explicit cost is modest and clear, but when we deliberate
about explicit cost, it is diverse. Each time when rational people make decisions, they are going to
process step by step. For example, people collect, understand, and recap entire related to the
planning matter in examinations. Second, they create substitute issue they will face in the future.
Third, rational people, achieve to estimate the disadvantage or advantage of their plans. Fourth,

The Day Of School
Hensley "Riiiiiiiing!" My alarm went off, waking me for another day of school. Rolling out of bed, i
caught one whiff of myself before jumping straight into the shower. I closed my eyes, and let the hot
streams of water roll off of my shoulders, savoring the precious time before I had to drag myself to
school. It isn't that school comes hard to me, because it doesn 't. Friends roll in my wake, making
me one of the most popular girls in school, and I hate it. Everyone is so fake! Most of my so called
"friends" only liked me for my popularity, money, and looks. I can't go a day without hearing, "I just
LOVE your hair," or even better, "I wish I was you." Honestly, you don't want to be me. It's rare for
me to see my parents for more than a few minutes each day. They're so wrapped up in their work
that my nanny was the one who taught me to swim, ride a bike, and do all the other things most
parents wait their whole lives to witness. Looking in the mirror, I stare into my emerald green eyes,
and gently touch my platinum blond hair. The person I am is not the person that I want to be.
Corban Some say that I've suffered more than a person my age should. Maybe I have, but I make it

Comparing Connor's Unwind And The IRA Sniper
Back when I was younger, my parents had tried to teach me how to ride my bike but I could never
found out how to, when they weren't with me, I had tried to ride my bike alone, and I had
successfully rode it down my road and back without them realizing it. From riding a bike to killing
enemies to be able to survive a war, there is no difference. independence is the biggest trait someone
needs to be able to get further in life and to be able to succeed. Connor from Unwind and the IRA
Sniper from ¨The Sniper¨ are both independent because of them being able to overcome rough
obstacles by themselves. In the novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, Connor is independent by being
able to fight off the Juvey cops on his own, to stop himself from being unwound. ... Show more

man who is used to looking at death.¨ (O'Flaherty 1). This quote shows that The Sniper had been

Deadlines For A Good Time Managing Habits
Deadlines are important because they hold everyone to the same time standard, not only do they do
this but they also help you stay on track to meet what is being asked of you. Deadlines are assigned
for multiple reasons, they help the person who is in charge do their job with much more ease, they
make you look good when you meet them, they help you and everyone involve in those deadlines
avoid further conflict. Practicing good time managing habits can assist you in meeting deadlines,
when they are do, and even before. Giving priority to specific deadlines in a timely manner can
avoid personal stress and anxiety, and even non–completion. When you prioritize right you can meet
and plan out your time to meet these deadlines with much more ... Show more content on

Creating these deadlines make sure that the goal, or what is expected is completed in time in order
for everyone to move onto the next order of business. When someone fails to meet these deadlines it
could be crucial to what is to come. It will hold all back and take time out from the next thing to get
the person caught up to where they need to be. Sometimes deadlines could determine your future.
For example, you forget to attend a meeting where you were supposed to get hired, even arriving
late can make you seem irresponsible and discourage the employer to give you the job and instead
give it to the person who was there on time. Even if you already have the job, you need to stick to
good time management habits so you keep a good self–image, and are open to better opportunities
offered by the employer. Deadlines give you a clearer view of your goal, no matter what your goal
might be, whether it's a short term goal such as losing a certain amount of weigh, finishing a school
project, attending a meeting, down to something as simple as doing your own laundry– or long
terms goals like graduating college, getting a job, buying a new car, buying a house, owning your
own business and things like that. When you set a time line for these goals to be met you start to see
the steps a lot more clearly compared to just saying that one day you'll do it. Going back to the

What 's Important And Capture The Good Times?
I.Intro
A.Attention Getter: How many of you like to focus on what's important? "Life is like a Camera. You
focus on what's important and capture the good times. Develop from the negative and if things don't
work out take another shot." – Unknown Author
B.Revealed Object and Speaker Credibility: A camera represents many things in the photography
culture and, as someone who doesn't consider themselves a photographer but rather a hobbyist
photographer, I think it's important that people be educated about this creative culture.
C.Thesis: By learning more about a camera, you will have a greater understanding of the
photography culture.
D.Preview of Main Points: First, I will discuss the types of cameras there are, how it is significant,
and how it promotes creativity in the photography culture. Then, I will discuss how I identify with
both this culture, and the camera.
II. Body
A.Main Point 1: There are many types of cameras and they are a symbol of the Photography culture.
1.Sub–point 1: Cameras have been around since the 1500s. The first type of camera invented was
the pinhole camera, invented by Alhazen (Al–Haytham). Since the culture combines different types
of cameras, each type of camera still has significance. Originally, the first camera invented was the

Even now, before the recession lifts, our research suggests that most global companies are running
into staffing problems in emerging markets, and they are also having a difficult time finding talented
younger managers to replace baby boom retirees. These problems will be made all the worse
because, we've found, current hiring practices are haphazard at best and ineffective at worst. And
even when companies find the right people, they have difficulty retaining them. This article offers
our best thinking about the most effective way to hire top–level managers, based on a combination
of our own and established research about the relationship between recruiting and long–term
corporate performance (see the research sidebar). The following is, to our knowledge, the first time
that an end–to–end set of best practices has been put forward in one place. Our compendium
comprises seven steps, which cover the full recruitment spectrum: anticipating the need for new

Video Time Is Good Or Bad For Kids
With so much technological activity, some wonder if the screen time is good or bad for kids.
According to Oxford Dictionaries, screen time is the "Time spent using a device such as a computer,
television, or games console." Many advocate and promote that if used properly, the prolonged use
of digital media is a means for children to develop and interact more quickly in today's age.
However, some parents have been concerned that too much technology usage may in fact interfere
with children's development. While the two opposing sides have differing opinions on how screen
time affects children, both sides agree on doing whatever is best for the better development of
children and adolescents.
In an era like the twenty–first century, it is not unusual for children all over America to be exposed
to technology. The Pew Research Center released the "Teens, Social Media, & Technology
Overview 2015," which determined that eighty–seven percent of adolescents have access to a
computer and fifty–eight percent have access to a tablet (Lenhart). In addition, the research center
also reported that ninety–two percent of adolescents reported daily internet use. Before, children
were playing outside with friends for fun, and socializing with their friends and family in person.
Today, kids play and interact through laptops, tablets, and other media devices. Technology has
become a part of most children and adolescent's everyday life, through the way they interact with
the world.

Personal Narrative Essay: Good Time At The Waterfall
Good Time at the waterfall Visiting at the waterfall can be a way to spend your day off. Most of the
waterfalls' location is very far away from town or city. Some places you might have to drive for
miles and walk more than ten minutes to get there. For me going to see and enjoying at the waterfall
is better than staying home or sitting into your own backyard. I like the natural beauty, and I believe
that human body are bond with nature. One off the best natural that I feel in love with is waterfall

What Makes A Good Time At A Graduation Party
Imagine you're at a graduation party. Everyone is talking and having a good time around you. You
suddenly realize that you're thirsty. So you make your way to the coolers and in it is an ice cold
refreshing cola. What did you think of? Pepsi? Coke? These two cola giants have gone from
pharmacy sold local drinks into what we know today. The overly sugary, high fructose corn syrup
loaded, and acidic drinks have become the frontrunners in a highly fought over competition to be
the number one soft drink in America, and through through psychological tactics in their ads has
convinced people into thinking that it is okay to only drink their . In 1886 John Pemberton became
addicted to opiates and sought to create a drink that had been mixed with a pain killer to be sold as a
soft drink that can cure all. Then a portion of prohibition came into that part of the country, so
Pemberton was forced to make Coca–Cola without the painkilling portion of the famed drink. That's
when Coca–Cola was really made for the first time. Unfortunately Pemberton then sold the
company for a measly $2300 to Asa Griggs Candler. Candler brought true ideas to the company, and
that's when the company took off. Then other brands came into the picture and Coke did not like this
what–so–ever. They released the advertisement in Appendix A stating that "nicknames encourage
substitution" (Zmuda). Then the market exploded and there were approximately 1,000 bottling
companies by 1920 after only have two in 1900

Part–time Jobs for Students: A Good Idea
I, being employed with a part–time job, truly do believe that there is no wrong in having a part–time
job while being a student. I honestly think that it is an awesome, great idea for students to have
part–time jobs before they graduate from high school –– if they have the time and resources to do
so. Students who are responsible, or learn responsibility, have nothing to loose but all to gain by
having a job. There are a few key points that prove students having part–time jobs is an awesome

A student with a part–time job will learn not only great work ethic, but also how to balance the
demanding workloads between school and work. This is great for when students go on to become
involved in other activities because they will know time management and how to balance their
energy between activities. Time management is a skill that is extremely important to students and
people in today?s world because everything is so fast, and compressed; there is a lot to do in a
typical day of a student! Employed students must learn how to work while still making time for
their studies and other things. They will also have to learn confidence in telling the boss when they
absolutely can not work because schoolwork must come first. For example, I used to work about 40
hours a week at Tim Horton?s while I was attending Northern full time as a student. Between all
this, I was training for boxing, running x–country, maintaining a social life and such but I kept my
schoolwork the first priority with my job running in a close second. It was hard to get on track of
balancing everything while working eight(plus) hour day shifts but I was able to manage it, and find
use for every moment I had awake. I learned a lot from that time in my life and now every day I get

Nap-Time Is Good
Nap time is good Obviously some point in your life you're either going to take a nap or already have
taken a nap. In fact many people take naps on the daily. Maybe when you sleep you'll want to set a
timer so you don't go too long on your nap. For example in source #3 ask the sleep doctor is states, "
i recommend that if you decide to take a nap, set a timer 10 to 20 minutes so that you don't
oversleep." that explaining that you should not oversleep a nap but naps are still good for the human
body. Another reason why sleep is good, napping can lead to good habits such as when in the source
#2 it states, " Napoleon Bonaparte, a french emperor, often gave rousing speeches at a moment's
notice, perhaps this was due to his habit of taking of taking frequent naps." That"s saying that make

Analysis Of Good Times Bad Times By Ulrich Herbert
In this essay, Ulrich Herbert's article "Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of the Third Reich," will
be discussed. This critique will focus on identifying Herbert's main argument and how effective he
was at executing that argument. Herbert concentrates on the seemingly strange view held by both
working–class and middle–class German citizens that the years during the Second World War were
not actually bad. He asserts that most people in Germany did not associate the Third Reich with
murder and terrorism, as is typical for people outside of Germany. Instead, these citizens saw the
regime as being beneficial, it provided steady work and a sense of structure and stability that had
been lacking in the years immediately following the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the times that he remembers most clearly. It was during the 1920s and he described it
as a difficult one. Work was not always easy to come by and his father had died, leaving him to
provide for his mother. The ability to vividly recall this point in time supports Herbert's claim that
the harder times were the ones that left the strongest impressions. Once Bromberg got married and
began to have children, his life became more stable and the details of this period are glossed over.
Although this period of time – 1932– 1934 –was a turbulent one in the realm of politics, Bromberg
had nothing to say about it. He said that he had nothing to do with politics because he had no time
for it between work, family life, and church events. The period after 1934 is once again more
turbulent. Bromberg was moved from factory to factory due to the bombing raids. This section of
time was recounted in great detail, "He [Bromberg] describes the individual stages of the evacuation
of the works: ..." (Bessel, p. 100). This section ends when Bromberg reports that he had found a flat
in Essen and his life once again became more stable. In this part of his interview, Bromberg had
skipped over twelve years, immediately jumping to his time of retirement after telling the
interviewer about finding the flat. Herbert divides the interviewees' timelines into four phases: post

When prompted about a song that was important to me in high school, one song in particular comes
to mind: "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day. Almost anyone who has
contemplated the length and depth of life can relate to this gentle song with its slow, almost
yearning tone and deep lyrics. To me, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is a timeless ballad that
never fails to comfort me in times of change and confusion. This song should be included in the

Among these accusations was the fact that Green Day was a supposedly punk rock band with a
major record label, an ironic twist on the anarchy and independence that so many punk rock bands
represent. Billy Joe Armstrong actually commented on the group's status as a punk rock band by
saying "...we're this big band now. We've made a lot of money. We're not punk rock anymore... You
can take us out of a punk rock environment, but you can't take the punk rock out of us". Although
some avid punk rockers may argue that Green Day is not a true punk rock band, it is indisputable
that Green Day created popular music that received high ratings.
Green Day, along with several other bands such as The Offspring, Sublime, Rancid, and Blink–182,
is widely credited for bringing the attention of mainstream popularity to punk rock in the United
States, benefiting punk rock in the end regardless of technical musical classification. These bands
characterized the pop punk of the mid to late 1990s. Although pop punk music has waned
throughout the years, but its culture is still ubiquitous in many venues from the Vans Warped Tour to

Kerplunk and Dookie were responsible for the financial success of Green Day; after taking a brief

How Vacation Is A Good Time
Going on vacation is a way to relax, reduce stress, and spend time with my family. The different
cultures, places, and laughs that we experience on vacations are truly memorable. When I was
younger, my sister and I would take vacations with my grandparents. On these road trips, we would
go hiking, go to water parks, and have picnics. On every trip, either someone was embarrassed or
injured. When I was 8 or 9 years old, I was afraid that my grandpa was seriously hurt on one of our
trips. Ultimately, on most of our adventures, we all had a laugh and a good time. Although it's
important to take vacations and trips with my family, we should remember to be safe and smart,
have a good time, and make vacations memorable. We were on our way to a park called Turkey
Run, in Indiana, with trails, a water park and picnic areas. We stopped at a gas station with lots of
treats and a McDonalds with a Play Place. At the time, my sister and I loved to play in the jungle
gyms after we ate at McDonalds. The vehicle that we drove down to the park was a conversion van
that had a toilet, a bed, and a sink. We stayed in the van during the nights, while we were on
vacation, instead of going to a hotel or staying in tents. We either slept in a pull out bed, on the floor,
or between the two front seats. I liked this aspect of the trip because it not only created memories
from the vacation, but I liked the sleeping conditions throughout the adventure. This van was a part

Why Do Mathematical Equations And Formulas Are Difficult...

1. One of the things I have the easiest time remembering is numbers, especially phone numbers. I
also find it easy to remember the names of people that I have met. Mathematical equations and
formulas are very easy for me to remember too. Things that are difficult for me to remember include
lists of items, especially grocery lists. I also have difficulty remembering dates in history as well as

4. The processes of encoding and retrieval work much like that of a filing cabinet system. Our brain
encoding some piece of information would be analogous to a piece of paper being filed away while
retrieval would be analogous to finding a paper that was previously filed. Furthermore, in class, we
discussed how we may not always remember events exactly how they actually happened. This

5. I have a script for when I first start a class at the beginning of the semester. I first stake out a seat
in the classroom, close to the front of the room because I know from experience that often times the
seat you are in on the first day of class remains your seat until the end of the semester. This script
also guides how I behave in class, which typically involves being quiet and kept to myself. In
addition, this script guides to what extent I participate in class. For example, when an instructor
presents a question to the class, I offer an answer.

I discussed the idea of mnemonic devices with a friend of mine that attends another university. I
explained specifically the first–letter method of mnemonic devices and how you can create a word

First Hand Portrait A breeze quietly swept by. I opened my eyes and looked up into the cloudless

The, Good Times, And Modern Day Sitcom
The Blues to Education Insolvent, Ravenous, Fretting! Economical disadvantages leads to the three
ideas stated, in layman's terms, broke, hungry, and worrying. Unfortunately, many African American
individuals inhabit areas that display very tarnished living conditions, which includes violent
criminals, illegal activities, and very low performing schools, better known as "ghettos".
Consequently, due to the disadvantages and low prosperity in these communities, many young
adolescents or student's education suffers a great deal. Education is one of the most powerful
apparatuses to sever the hardships of poverty. The popular 70's sitcom "Good Times" and modern
day sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris", are two perfect examples of two struggling African American
families that values education because of their race, family structure, and family roles, which
displays reflection of society. In the popular 70's sitcom "Good Times", demonstrates a perfect
example of monetary hindered family that values education because their race. For example, in
season two episode four, the family express their concerns with the improper schooling system in
their black economically depressed neighborhood. Based on their inadequate living conditions in the
inner city of Chicago, the school has suffered lack of books, very violent encounters with students in

Remember Good Times Research Paper
People have many good times and they need to remember those times. They take a photo or give
some gifts. Gifts make people remember their good times with their friends. In my opinion, people
remember their gifts for remembering their good times, remembering their close friends and for
personal reasons.
When people see some gift they remember how they got it. They remember the reason for getting
that gift. For example, it can be a birthday. People remember their good times. Gifts can make
people become emotional. Every gift has its own story and people cannot remember something
without having an emotion. Those emotions can be from the good times they had. By remembering
their good times, people feel happy. How can one forget the person who

Personal Narrative: A Good Time To Break-Up North
When I was younger I spent my summers up North in a little town where my family had a cottage
just a few blocks away from lake Michigan. I do not remember a summer that we didn't go up
North. The town has perfect beaches, the best hikes, and the cutest stores. When my parents told my
brothers and I that they had decided to sell the cottage I could not believe it. When they told us that
in two weeks we were going up north for the last time to clean the cottage up and to meet with a
realtor I was even more upset. "Why? I don't understand," I asked my mom. "Because you and your
brothers are getting older and we just don't have the time to maintain it anymore, so we thought this
was a good time to sell it. Anyways wouldn't it be nice to go somewhere else on vacation for a
change?" my mom explained. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In their busy schedule, online learning is seen as a solution. On the other hand, distractions from
their other responsibilities may disturb their online study plans if the learners cannot develop a good
time management. Good time–management strategies will be most helpful in every online learner.
However, the biggest challenge will be instilling self–discipline to devote adequate time in courses
that might not have regularly scheduled times to meet synchronously online or in person. Thus, it is
necessary to have a good time management skills in order to balance the learners other obligations
and responsibilities together with their study programme. Learners who develop good time–
management skills will find it easier to balance their studies and other obligations. In other words, it
helps to keep things in context. Learners must be able to differentiate things that they want to do and
have to do.. It helps learners to avoid procrastination especially when it comes to doing things that
they do not like to do, assignments for example.
Time–management will also help to priotize learners' work. What should be done first should be
attended to and given more attention to. Good time–management strategy will also get more things
done in less time. When a learner is focus and specific in his/her task, no time will be wasted and
everything can be done in an organized manner. In addition, good time–management will ensure

How Good Is Your Time Management Quiz
When I took the "How good is your time management quiz" I scored a total of 61. I was not
surprised due to me putting quite a bit of emphasis on goal setting and prioritizing certain objectives
of the day. Of the five areas of time management addressed I feel my biggest strength is scheduling,
getting a 10 out of 10 in that subject. I feel the reason this is is I think very realistically about
potential outcomes and limitations I may be planning and managing towards.
I feel two areas I could implement methods to better use time management skills would be
managing interruptions and procrastination. Admittedly on the test I received a 4 out of 5 in

A Good Time Theme
The major theme of "Here For a Good Time" is to enjoy every moment, and live life the the fullest.
George Strait sings about how life is so short, and we should learn how to look at the positive side
of things. This is a very apparent theme in our world today, many people get caught up in the small
disappointments in life and forget that our time is so limited on Earth. Many people can get upset
over things that may be important or not such as not getting into their dream school, or going
through a break–up, or even recieving a bad grade, but we forget that everything is temporary. Most
things will not even matter to us in a year, yet we let these things get us down. We do this even
when we can simply change our attitude and choose happiness over sulking over something small.
Straight sings, "I'm not gonna lay around and whine and moan, Cause somebody done done me
wrong" which means he's not gonna let other people's actions define the way he lives his life. This
could be referencing a girl that might have cheated on him, or broken up with him, or even a friend
that treated him poorly. I think this message is very applicable to daily life, especially in
adolescents, because we often let other people's judgements or opinions put us in a bad mood, or
even worse, make us think less of ourselves.

we can truly be happy. This message is so applicable to our lives so many people focus on what's

Good Times and The Jeffersons
Good Times and The Jefferson's are well known sitcoms that premiered in the 1970s focusing on
African American families living in poverty, while offering a comedic twist. The 1970s was in the
heart of the civil rights movement, and these shows were based on the lives of blacks during this
time (Deane, 2004). Both shows aired during the same timeframe, and it was evident that Good
Times and The Jefferson's aligned with the traditional stigma that society had of African Americans
(there were often offensive stereotypical aspects present, such as mammy and sambo characters).
When assessing character, Good Times cast starred Esther Rolles as the mother Florida Evans, John
Amos as the father James Evans, comedian Jimmie Walker who played the oldest son James Evans
Jr. (JJ), Ralph Carter who played the youngest son Michael Evans, and Anderson Bern Nadette
Stanis as daughter Thelma Evans (Deane, 2004). Florida was portrayed to be a hard working
individual who just wanted to see the best happen for her family. She had high hopes, as every
mother does, of getting out of the ghetto and living not the life of luxury, but one where they
wouldn't have to face compromising their wants and needs. James Evans was the primary
breadwinner, and he aided Florida when necessary as the disciplinarian. Their teamwork
exemplified the true meaning of a two parent household. The children James Evans Jr. (JJ) Michael

Critique Ulrich Herbert s Good Times Bad Times Essay
The following is a critique of the article "Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of The Third Reich"
by Ulrich Herbert. In this critique, I will explore the themes of the article, discuss the main
arguments, and address the significance of the author's insight to the world of Nazi Germany. Ulrich
Herbert's "Good Times, Bad Times" is about the contrast between the ways typical working
Germans perceived the years before and during Hitler's appointment as Chancellor, his rise to
dictator, and during and after and World War II. The article cites a survey conducted by the Institut
für Demoskopie (Public Opinion Institute) in 1949, as well as an oral–history project conducted at
the universities of Essen and Hagen between 1930–1960. Both studies ... Show more content on

99) Along with other narrators, Bromberg has "little to report about the next phase [1932 through
the beginning of World War II] until they are directly affected by the war through military
conscription or Allied bombing raids on their home town" (Bessel, p. 101). Herbert's recurring
theme is that "'Quiet', 'normal' times, then, clearly leave behind few experiences that are imprinted
on the memory and recalled in the narratives; 'disturbed', 'bad' times are filled with unique and
extraordinary experiences, and come up at corresponding length in the life stories" (Bessel, p. 101).
Herbert's argument is that the to the working German population, the war years were seen mostly as
a temporary disturbance separating the stable, normal years of the 1930s and 1950s. "Although in
retrospect the National Socialist State's provision of a quiet and secure life is evaluated very
positively in principle, the experiences during the war gave the lie to the pretenses of Nazism: the
self–propelling dynamics of Nazi politics, which during the previous years always had been left
'outside', now destroyed that private domain that had only been built up. The long wartime and post–
war phase is portrayed...as a time of suffering in that the 'normality' attained

Good And Evil In Mrs. Whatsit's A Wrinkle In Time
Good and evil, a common two–sided concept used in many religious stories and ancient folklore, is
often found in modern art and expressed through symbolism. Many of these stories show
symbolism. Symbolism is the artistic style in which a concept is expressed indirectly implied using
another interpretation. This tactic is often used in novels, poems, and songs. In the story, A Wrinkle
In Time, symbolism is recurrently used to signify the idea of good and evil, especially the collision
between good and evil.
The battle between good and evil takes up a very large portion of A Wrinkle In Time. Some may
even argue that the entire book's theme is the conflict between these two opposing forces. In the
novel, Mrs. Whatsit mentions that she used to be a star. She explains that her star form died
defeating darkness. This conflict between Mrs. Whatsit and the darkness represents a fight between
good and evil.On page 102, paragraph 3, the scene in which the star defeats the dark is explained.

pure good. Since Aunt Beast is fighting alongside forces of pure good, she must represent

Essay about Love
Love Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and difficult to understand. Love is what great
writers write about, great singers sing about, and great philosophers ponder. Love is a powerful
emotion, for which there is no wrong definition, for it suits each and every person differently.
Whether love is between family, friends, or lovers, it is an overwhelming emotion that can be
experienced in many different ways. People experience love for the first time by being part of a
family. Family love is demonstrated through lessons of sacrifice, concern and compassion, from the
cradle to the grave. There are many different levels and conditions of family love. It is the love we

A close–knit loving bond between two people can begin with a friendship. Whether it is a friendship
between two males, two females, or one male and one female, these friendships will develop into
love. In no way is it a romantic love, but this type of love connects and bonds friends. Friends may
move away or friendships may wane, but the love between the two people burns on forever.
Romantic love is a love that not every person will experience. It is a type of love that is not there at
the beginning, but grows within the individual. When one finally finds the love they have been
looking for, one can not imagine life with anybody else. Romantic love is a connection between two
souls that is captured with a feeling that is not only felt within the heart but within their body as
well. I have never been in love with a girl; I can only imagine what it might be like to be in love.
Guessing from my sister's relationship with boys, it seems like a big headache instead of a
wonderful feeling. To simply write a definition of love is complicated because every person has a
different perception of love. The only way to capture the true meaning of love is to experience the
feeling and find out for oneself, what love is. In our lives and the lives of others, love is evident.
Whether it is between family, friends, or lovers, love is a precious

Good Times Become Good Memories, And Bad Times Become Good...
"Good times become good memories, and bad times become good lessons." I have had many good
and bad memories but this is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. The most important
and vivid memory that seems like it was just yesterday was when my dad had to go to Iraq in 2009
for a year. At the time I was 5 and didn't realize the risks of him going over seas with the Army. He
could get injured or even killed. I was so depressed when I finally understood that he would be gone
for a whole year. He would leave when I was 5 and come back when I was 6. He would miss a
whole year of my life, and he would miss my 1st year of school(kindergarten). I remember exactly
where I was when my parents told me he was going away, when we had his going away party, and
when he actually left. I remember all of my emotions. It was a nice sunny day and my parents
decided we were going out to dinner. Little did I know it was the dinner that would change my life.
We decided to go to Max & Erma's because that was my favorite restaurant at the time when I was
4. They had the ice cream bar, and I loved it. I was wearing a pretty dress because earlier that day I
was playing outside and I got very dirty. After deciding where to eat, we went inside, and I had a
bath to get cleaned up. When we were all ready we got into our car and drove up to Gibsonia to go
to Max & Ermas. It was very bright and sunny. It was a long drive and it felt like it took forever

Back then, the all–mighty gods removed salt from ocean waters whenever humans needed to use it.
In return, the humans would constantly pray and sacrifice their meals to the gods. It was a good

Good And Evil In Melvyn Bragg's 'In Our Time'
In an April 1999 episode of BBC Radio 4's In Our Time, Melvyn Bragg hosts the Polish philosopher
Leszek Kołakowski and the British analytical philosopher Galen Strawson, as the discussion
analyses the issue of good against evil and how it relates to various other philosophical and social
concepts. The programme seeks to determine answering a few questions, including what good and
evil are in the first place, the source of good and evil, whether genetic or socially inculcated, and
whether a belief in a supreme being affects an individual's conceptualisation of good and evil.
Both philosophers agree that the concept of good and evil does not depend on the existence or even
the belief in a supreme being. Kołakowski states that while an individual's understanding of the two
concepts might indeed be influenced by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument is made that good and the need for moral behaviour contrasts to the idea of evolution
and survival. Strawson contends that Darwin's theories are correct and that human beings are only
motivated by a need for survival. According to him, 'good' and seemingly attractive human
characteristics and behavior emerge the need to cooperate with others. Human beings cooperate
when they stand to benefit and deceive each other when they stand to the best.
Kołakowski also offers a similar opinion related to religion and its influence on good and evil.
According to him, religion often advocates for concepts that go against human survival because they
are seemingly good. For example, Islam convinces its followers to avoid earthly possessions in
favour of those in heaven. Believing in that would go against every human instinct for survival.
Both scholars apparently agree that religion itself is motivated and driven by the interests of certain
individuals, who gain the most from it. Thus, Religion would be a difficult measure of good and

One study showed that when you start with alcohol and tobacco you progress easily to marijuana
but when you start with marijuana you don't go on to use anything else. "In one National Institute on

patterns of 224 boys, starting at age 10 to 12 and ending at age 22. Right from the beginning these

marijuana first. And some never progressed from one substance to another at all." One of the biggest
proponents for the legalization of marijuana is so that it can be used as medicine. It has been

well–known substance carrying cultural and political baggage, it would be hailed as a wonder drug."
I completely agree with the last statement as well. If marijuana was not tied to the cultural baggage
that it is a harm causing substance then I am almost certain it would be seen by most of the country
as a miracle drug. Currently all over there are pharmaceutical companies

A Good Time To Die Summary
General George A. Custer, was in deed the key factor, that enabled the Lakota, Sioux to defeat the
7th US Cavalry at the battle of little Horn in 1876. I believe there was a defeat on the 7th Cavalry,
due to Custer's arrogance and his stupidity. At the time general Phillip Sheridan made plans to send
generals, troops and officers to take land away from the Indians, he didn't realize the arrogance that
bolted Custer at the time. Sitting Bull, the chief of the Lakota tribe awaited the time for war,
knowing the Americans would come back to try to steal their land from them, the tribe prepared
themselves for what was to come. According to the Documentary "A Good Time To Die" Sitting
Bull tells his tribe the soldiers will fall into their camp. In

What Is Attitude Essay

  • 1. What Is Attitude Essay Attitude is a choice in which each of us choose to take but often, we forget we have a choice at all. Attitude can be a powerful tool for positive action or a poison that cripples your ability to fulfil your potential. Your attitude determines whether you are living life or life is living you. It also determines whether you are on the way or in the way. So to speak, self–confident people may suffer setbacks, get dragged down by hard times, or make mistakes, but they still believe they will be successful and come out being victorious. In the other way round, those who don't believe in themselves never seem to find their way and due to this, they often seem to drift with the tides. To everything we do in life, choice is the beginning or starting point and by changing our attitudes, we automatically change our lives. If you want a positive attitude, you will need to be committed enough to work at/on it and once you have discovered those things that have been holding you back, then it is time to look ahead and analyze where you want to go. To achieving success in life, it is necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The limits of our mind–set is enough to determine the boundaries of our future. When we become fixated on the problems, we become paralyzed but when we look ahead for solutions, we are indirectly taking responsibility and some measure of control over our lives. Thus, it is up to you to assign a value or meaning on the point of view you decide to take. You can turn attitude into action to find purpose and passion but lack of vision will definitely get you lost. Comfort zones can be treacherous when you believe that, "I just can't leave what I'm familiar with, no matter the level of frustration I get." So, it is easy to become angry about standing still but being afraid to move and if you don't make the move, sooner or later, life makes a move on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Good Times By Lucille Clifton Essay The quality of family life largely function's on economic stability. Many families struggling to meet basic needs can take the simple things for granted rather than finding the joy in life. Lucille Clifton's poem "Good Times" is a recollection of her own childhood, first presented through her youthful mind and demeanor then as an advising adult. The speaker indirectly expresses her family's financial burdens through her excitement of the bills finally being paid, and then she describes how the joy of this occasion has a domino effect on the rest of her family, emphasizing the importance of simple life. Through Clifton's "Good Times" she conveys the desirous necessity of financial stability and its effects on one's happiness in life but, in turn, the importance of one's appreciation for moments of joy through times of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these lines the speaker uses childlike diction and grammar, "my daddy" and "lights is", creating a vulnerable and honest tone. She establishes her father's financial responsibilities and the burden he had finally paid, signifying the beginning of good times. Yet, Clifton rhymes two contrasting words "gone and on"; these rhyming words represent how good moments come without warning, and they need to be appreciated because nothing is guaranteed in life. Lines four and five, "my uncle brud has hit for one dollar straight...", addresses the luck that is associated with good times, resurfacing the obsession and need for money. Thus, an increase in one's level of happiness is "the promise of doing better monetarily and feeling more financially secure" (Simon). In the final lines of the stanza, the speaker uses repetition: "they is good times, good times, good times"; this reinforces the comforting satisfaction of momentary financial stability for the speaker, but also the importance one should associate with the admirable moments of ... • 3. One More Drink For The Good Times One More Drink for the Good Times "Let's meet up and indulge in a little drinking this weekend!!" That statement is one heard among the college community nationwide nowadays. Binge drinking with others to gain new friendships, meet people, among other reasons, on college campuses is the thought process countless students believe today. "The Harvard School of Public Health found in 1993 that binge drinking is widespread on American campuses, particularly among members of fraternities and sororities (Bruffee, 1999)." If college students think binge drinking and partying is "cool" and the best way to meet new friends, they need to think again! Binge drinking is a career killer with terrible consequences. Finding and receiving the available support when it becomes out of control is the key to gaining a successful college education and finishing school with a degree. Friends or no friends! First–year college students start out with few friendships in the beginning and typically have a strong desire to make new friends as soon as possible. Some have a belief making new buddies requires participating in binge drinking, yet doing so is not worth the dangers and risk. "Binge drinking is tied to some of the most desired aspects of American college life–parties, social lines, dormitory living, athletics, and interaction with friends (Wechsler, Dowdall, Davenport, and Castillo, 1995)." Every college student wants to have fun with friends while attending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Day Of School Hensley "Riiiiiiiing!" My alarm went off, waking me for another day of school. Rolling out of bed, i caught one whiff of myself before jumping straight into the shower. I closed my eyes, and let the hot streams of water roll off of my shoulders, savoring the precious time before I had to drag myself to school. It isn't that school comes hard to me, because it doesn 't. Friends roll in my wake, making me one of the most popular girls in school, and I hate it. Everyone is so fake! Most of my so called "friends" only liked me for my popularity, money, and looks. I can't go a day without hearing, "I just LOVE your hair," or even better, "I wish I was you." Honestly, you don't want to be me. It's rare for me to see my parents for more than a few minutes each day. They're so wrapped up in their work that my nanny was the one who taught me to swim, ride a bike, and do all the other things most parents wait their whole lives to witness. Looking in the mirror, I stare into my emerald green eyes, and gently touch my platinum blond hair. The person I am is not the person that I want to be. Comparing Connor's Unwind And The IRA Sniper Back when I was younger, my parents had tried to teach me how to ride my bike but I could never found out how to, when they weren't with me, I had tried to ride my bike alone, and I had successfully rode it down my road and back without them realizing it. From riding a bike to killing enemies to be able to survive a war, there is no difference. independence is the biggest trait someone needs to be able to get further in life and to be able to succeed. Connor from Unwind and the IRA Sniper from ¨The Sniper¨ are both independent because of them being able to overcome rough obstacles by themselves. Creating these deadlines make sure that the goal, or what is expected is completed in time in order for everyone to move onto the next order of business. When someone fails to meet these deadlines it could be crucial to what is to come. It will hold all back and take time out from the next thing to get the person caught up to where they need to be. Sometimes deadlines could determine your future. For example, you forget to attend a meeting where you were supposed to get hired, even arriving late can make you seem irresponsible and discourage the employer to give you the job and instead give it to the person who was there on time. Even if you already have the job, you need to stick to good time management habits so you keep a good self–image, and are open to better opportunities offered by the employer. Deadlines give you a clearer view of your goal, no matter what your goal might be, whether it's a short term goal such as losing a certain amount of weigh, finishing a school project, attending a meeting, down to something as simple as doing your own laundry– or long terms goals like graduating college, getting a job, buying a new car, buying a house, owning your own business and things like that. • 11. Video Time Is Good Or Bad For Kids With so much technological activity, some wonder if the screen time is good or bad for kids. According to Oxford Dictionaries, screen time is the "Time spent using a device such as a computer, television, or games console." Many advocate and promote that if used properly, the prolonged use of digital media is a means for children to develop and interact more quickly in today's age. However, some parents have been concerned that too much technology usage may in fact interfere with children's development. While the two opposing sides have differing opinions on how screen time affects children, both sides agree on doing whatever is best for the better development of children and adolescents. In an era like the twenty–first century, it is not unusual for children all over America to be exposed to technology. The Pew Research Center released the "Teens, Social Media, & Technology Overview 2015," which determined that eighty–seven percent of adolescents have access to a computer and fifty–eight percent have access to a tablet (Lenhart). In addition, the research center also reported that ninety–two percent of adolescents reported daily internet use. Before, children were playing outside with friends for fun, and socializing with their friends and family in person. Today, kids play and interact through laptops, tablets, and other media devices. Technology has become a part of most children and adolescent's everyday life, through the way they interact with the world. The group of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So you make your way to the coolers and in it is an ice cold refreshing cola. What did you think of? Pepsi? Coke? These two cola giants have gone from pharmacy sold local drinks into what we know today. Then a portion of prohibition came into that part of the country, so Pemberton was forced to make Coca–Cola without the painkilling portion of the famed drink. That's when Coca–Cola was really made for the first time. Unfortunately Pemberton then sold the company for a measly $2300 to Asa Griggs Candler. Candler brought true ideas to the company, and that's when the company took off. Then other brands came into the picture and Coke did not like this what–so–ever. This is great for when students go on to become involved in other activities because they will know time management and how to balance their energy between activities. Time management is a skill that is extremely important to students and people in today?s world because everything is so fast, and compressed; there is a lot to do in a typical day of a student! Employed students must learn how to work while still making time for their studies and other things. They will also have to learn confidence in telling the boss when they absolutely can not work because schoolwork must come first. For example, I used to work about 40 hours a week at Tim Horton?s while I was attending Northern full time as a student. Between all this, I was training for boxing, running x–country, maintaining a social life and such but I kept my schoolwork the first priority with my job running in a close second. It was hard to get on track of balancing everything while working eight(plus) hour day shifts but I was able to manage it, and find use for every moment I had awake. • 17. Analysis Of Good Times Bad Times By Ulrich Herbert In this essay, Ulrich Herbert's article "Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of the Third Reich," will be discussed. This critique will focus on identifying Herbert's main argument and how effective he was at executing that argument. Herbert concentrates on the seemingly strange view held by both working–class and middle–class German citizens that the years during the Second World War were not actually bad. He asserts that most people in Germany did not associate the Third Reich with murder and terrorism, as is typical for people outside of Germany. Instead, these citizens saw the regime as being beneficial, it provided steady work and a sense of structure and stability that had been lacking in the years immediately following the ... Work was not always easy to come by and his father had died, leaving him to provide for his mother. The ability to vividly recall this point in time supports Herbert's claim that the harder times were the ones that left the strongest impressions. Once Bromberg got married and began to have children, his life became more stable and the details of this period are glossed over. Although this period of time – 1932– 1934 –was a turbulent one in the realm of politics, Bromberg had nothing to say about it. He said that he had nothing to do with politics because he had no time for it between work, family life, and church events. The period after 1934 is once again more turbulent. Bromberg was moved from factory to factory due to the bombing raids. This section of time was recounted in great detail, "He [Bromberg] describes the individual stages of the evacuation of the works: ..." (Bessel, p. 100). This section ends when Bromberg reports that he had found a flat in Essen and his life once again became more stable. In this part of his interview, Bromberg had skipped over twelve years, immediately jumping to his time of retirement after telling the interviewer about finding the flat. Among these accusations was the fact that Green Day was a supposedly punk rock band with a major record label, an ironic twist on the anarchy and independence that so many punk rock bands represent. Billy Joe Armstrong actually commented on the group's status as a punk rock band by saying "...we're this big band now. We've made a lot of money. We're not punk rock anymore... You can take us out of a punk rock environment, but you can't take the punk rock out of us". Although some avid punk rockers may argue that Green Day is not a true punk rock band, it is indisputable that Green Day created popular music that received high ratings. Green Day, along with several other bands such as The Offspring, Sublime, Rancid, and Blink–182, is widely credited for bringing the attention of mainstream popularity to punk rock in the United States, benefiting punk rock in the end regardless of technical musical classification. The different cultures, places, and laughs that we experience on vacations are truly memorable. When I was younger, my sister and I would take vacations with my grandparents. On these road trips, we would go hiking, go to water parks, and have picnics. On every trip, either someone was embarrassed or injured. • 28. A Good Time Theme The major theme of "Here For a Good Time" is to enjoy every moment, and live life the the fullest. George Strait sings about how life is so short, and we should learn how to look at the positive side of things. This is a very apparent theme in our world today, many people get caught up in the small disappointments in life and forget that our time is so limited on Earth. Many people can get upset over things that may be important or not such as not getting into their dream school, or going through a break–up, or even recieving a bad grade, but we forget that everything is temporary. Most things will not even matter to us in a year, yet we let these things get us down. We do this even when we can simply change our attitude and choose happiness over sulking over something small. Straight sings, "I'm not gonna lay around and whine and moan, Cause somebody done done me wrong" which means he's not gonna let other people's actions define the way he lives his life. This could be referencing a girl that might have cheated on him, or broken up with him, or even a friend that treated him poorly. Good Times and The Jeffersons Good Times and The Jefferson's are well known sitcoms that premiered in the 1970s focusing on African American families living in poverty, while offering a comedic twist. The 1970s was in the heart of the civil rights movement, and these shows were based on the lives of blacks during this time (Deane, 2004). Both shows aired during the same timeframe, and it was evident that Good Times and The Jefferson's aligned with the traditional stigma that society had of African Americans (there were often offensive stereotypical aspects present, such as mammy and sambo characters). When assessing character, Good Times cast starred Esther Rolles as the mother Florida Evans, John Amos as the father James Evans, comedian Jimmie Walker who played the oldest son James Evans Jr. (JJ), Ralph Carter who played the youngest son Michael Evans, and Anderson Bern Nadette Stanis as daughter Thelma Evans (Deane, 2004). Florida was portrayed to be a hard working individual who just wanted to see the best happen for her family. She had high hopes, as every mother does, of getting out of the ghetto and living not the life of luxury, but one where they wouldn't have to face compromising their wants and needs. In this critique, I will explore the themes of the article, discuss the main arguments, and address the significance of the author's insight to the world of Nazi Germany. Ulrich Herbert's "Good Times, Bad Times" is about the contrast between the ways typical working Germans perceived the years before and during Hitler's appointment as Chancellor, his rise to dictator, and during and after and World War II. Herbert's recurring theme is that "'Quiet', 'normal' times, then, clearly leave behind few experiences that are imprinted on the memory and recalled in the narratives; 'disturbed', 'bad' times are filled with unique and extraordinary experiences, and come up at corresponding length in the life stories" (Bessel, p. 101). Herbert's argument is that the to the working German population, the war years were seen mostly as a temporary disturbance separating the stable, normal years of the 1930s and 1950s. "Although in retrospect the National Socialist State's provision of a quiet and secure life is evaluated very positively in principle, the experiences during the war gave the lie to the pretenses of Nazism: the self–propelling dynamics of Nazi politics, which during the previous years always had been left 'outside', now destroyed that private domain that had only been built up. Good And Evil In Mrs. Whatsit's A Wrinkle In Time Good and evil, a common two–sided concept used in many religious stories and ancient folklore, is often found in modern art and expressed through symbolism. Many of these stories show symbolism. Symbolism is the artistic style in which a concept is expressed indirectly implied using another interpretation. This tactic is often used in novels, poems, and songs. In the story, A Wrinkle In Time, symbolism is recurrently used to signify the idea of good and evil, especially the collision between good and evil. The battle between good and evil takes up a very large portion of A Wrinkle In Time. Some may even argue that the entire book's theme is the conflict between these two opposing forces. In the novel, Mrs. Whatsit mentions that she used to be a star. She explains that her star form died defeating darkness. This conflict between Mrs. Whatsit and the darkness represents a fight between good and evil.On page 102, paragraph 3, the scene in which the star defeats the dark is explained. Romantic love is a love that not every person will experience. It is a type of love that is not there at the beginning, but grows within the individual. When one finally finds the love they have been looking for, one can not imagine life with anybody else. Romantic love is a connection between two souls that is captured with a feeling that is not only felt within the heart but within their body as well. I have never been in love with a girl; I can only imagine what it might be like to be in love. Guessing from my sister's relationship with boys, it seems like a big headache instead of a wonderful feeling. To simply write a definition of love is complicated because every person has a different perception of love. The only way to capture the true meaning of love is to experience the feeling and find out for oneself, what love is. In our lives and the lives of others, love is evident. Whether it is between family, friends, or lovers, love is a precious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Good Times Become Good Memories, And Bad Times Become Good... "Good times become good memories, and bad times become good lessons." I have had many good and bad memories but this is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. The most important and vivid memory that seems like it was just yesterday was when my dad had to go to Iraq in 2009 for a year. At the time I was 5 and didn't realize the risks of him going over seas with the Army. He could get injured or even killed. I was so depressed when I finally understood that he would be gone for a whole year. He would leave when I was 5 and come back when I was 6. He would miss a whole year of my life, and he would miss my 1st year of school(kindergarten). I remember exactly where I was when my parents told me he was going away, when we had his going away party, and when he actually left. I remember all of my emotions. It was a nice sunny day and my parents decided we were going out to dinner. Little did I know it was the dinner that would change my life. We decided to go to Max & Erma's because that was my favorite restaurant at the time when I was 4. They had the ice cream bar, and I loved it. I was wearing a pretty dress because earlier that day I was playing outside and I got very dirty. After deciding where to eat, we went inside, and I had a bath to get cleaned up. When we were all ready we got into our car and drove up to Gibsonia to go to Max & Ermas. It was very bright and sunny. It was a long drive and it felt like it took forever because I was so excited to get ice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"Good time is an early release procedure under determinate sentencing regimes: prison inmates get an automatic reduction in sentence for every day they spend without being written up for a violation of prison rules. They may also earn reduced time by participating in educational programs, community service projects, or medical experiments. The idea is that model prisoners are less likely to re–offend, and that prisoners will behave better if they have an incentive not to cause trouble. Some prisoners will not be eligible for good time, due to the nature of their offenses." http://definitions.uslegal.com/g/good–time. • 35. A Good System For A Long Time Back then, the all–mighty gods removed salt from ocean waters whenever humans needed to use it. In return, the humans would constantly pray and sacrifice their meals to the gods. It was a good system for a long time, but then, humans started to take advantage of the god's kindness; they didn't pray as much and stopped sacrificing their meals. The gods weren't happy about that. Therefore, they stopped providing the fresh water to humans and left the ocean water salty. Sure the humans could boil the salt water, but it wasn't nearly fast enough for the growing population. No matter how much the humans begged for freshwater, Zeus would not budge. The land stayed like that for a long time, until a young hero of the name Enrique saved the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Demeter finished her instructions, she passed him the robotic arm to put on and the red lifesaver. Then, she was gone. Enrique was on his own now. Enrique was quite scared for what might become but he knows this is his destiny and he was going to follow through. He set out for the Forbidden Swamp with determination in his eyes. As he reached the swamp, he saw one rocky bridge with heaps of gators on each side. As he twisted his arm, slabs of raw meat pop out and the gators hungrily battle for a slice. With that knowledge, he started twisting his arm as he navigated to the other side. During his sprint, he made sure to grab about a dozen roses with his other arm. • 37. Good And Evil In Melvyn Bragg's 'In Our Time' In an April 1999 episode of BBC Radio 4's In Our Time, Melvyn Bragg hosts the Polish philosopher Leszek Kołakowski and the British analytical philosopher Galen Strawson, as the discussion analyses the issue of good against evil and how it relates to various other philosophical and social concepts. The programme seeks to determine answering a few questions, including what good and evil are in the first place, the source of good and evil, whether genetic or socially inculcated, and whether a belief in a supreme being affects an individual's conceptualisation of good and evil. Both philosophers agree that the concept of good and evil does not depend on the existence or even the belief in a supreme being. Kołakowski states that while an individual's understanding of the two concepts might indeed be influenced by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument is made that good and the need for moral behaviour contrasts to the idea of evolution and survival. Strawson contends that Darwin's theories are correct and that human beings are only motivated by a need for survival. According to him, 'good' and seemingly attractive human characteristics and behavior emerge the need to cooperate with others. Human beings cooperate when they stand to benefit and deceive each other when they stand to the best. Kołakowski also offers a similar opinion related to religion and its influence on good and evil. According to him, religion often advocates for concepts that go against human survival because they are seemingly good. For example, Islam convinces its followers to avoid earthly possessions in favour of those in heaven. Believing in that would go against every human instinct for survival. Both scholars apparently agree that religion itself is motivated and driven by the interests of certain individuals, who gain the most from it. Thus, Religion would be a difficult measure of good and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Personal Experience Personal Experience 2:35 a.m. Even though it was something that I had experienced before, the pain still took me my surprise. And it was only the beginning. I had finally fallen asleep around midnight. My parents had come down to Indiana for a weekend visit and we had stayed up a little late enjoying our visit with each other after the boys had gone to bed. There were two bedrooms in my little apartment and I had given them the use of mine, deciding to sleep with my two children in the other room. Being two weeks overdue with my third child and still working full–time as a waitress, I practically passed out when my head finally touched the pillow. That is, until a bad cramp woke me from my peaceful slumber. Still groggy from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And that's the time when everything suddenly becomes clear. When on trial the boys lawyers introduced to the court the tribal chief of their nation, who proposed to the court an alternative deterrence method for the boy's punishment. The Chief said if the court grants the native judiciary custody of the boys they will pay the hospital costs of the victim. Including the punishment of the boys as they will be sent to a "Deserted island in Hudson Bay where for six months they will fend for themselves and learn to become proper men in the wilderness. When they return to their village, they will be forced to work for the tribe until the amount given to their victim is refunded to the tribe. They will also have to visit their victims and express their remorse." This sounds rather convincing as I am reviewing this case, because I want the best outcome for the victim and his family. One study showed that when you start with alcohol and tobacco you progress easily to marijuana but when you start with marijuana you don't go on to use anything else. "In one National Institute on Drug Abuse–funded study, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh tracked the drug use patterns of 224 boys, starting at age 10 to 12 and ending at age 22. Right from the beginning these kids confounded expectations. Some followed the traditional gateway paradigm, starting with tobacco or alcohol and moving on to marijuana, but some reversed the pattern, starting with marijuana first. And some never progressed from one substance to another at all." One of the biggest proponents for the legalization of marijuana is so that it can be used as medicine. It has been scientifically proven to have a variety of medical uses and may be able to cure or slow the effects of cancer. It is also a very safe drug as said here by Lester Grinspoon, "And it is extraordinarily safe– safer than most medicines prescribed every day. If marijuana were a new discovery rather than a well–known substance carrying cultural and political baggage, it would be hailed as a wonder drug." I completely agree with the last statement as well. If marijuana was not tied to the cultural baggage that it is a harm causing substance then I am almost certain it would be seen by most of the country as a miracle drug. At the time general Phillip Sheridan made plans to send generals, troops and officers to take land away from the Indians, he didn't realize the arrogance that bolted Custer at the time.
