Week 4 Module 4
Brothers and sisters, we welcome you to our 20th session of FOUNDATION 1
In this presentation we want to continue with a promise we made in the 1st video of this week (video #16): “In
these 2 final weeks we want to change the focus a bit, in-shaa’ Allaah. We want to begin with foundation for
deen and life.”
We felt we started this indirectly in the first four videos for this week, but with this video we want to get more
direct, in-shaa’ Allaah. So we want to discuss “The Introduction” i.e., we want to discuss the breakdown of the
vocabulary of the introduction that we read out before we start any class in-shaa’ Allaah.

There is another introduction called “Khutbatul-Haajah” ( خطبةالاجة ) that we also read out sometimes,
especially on the weekend. It is the long form of this short address that we feel should be included in our
explanation. Many Khutabaa’ (plural of Khateeb) begin their Jumu`ah Khutbah with it, in accordance with the
Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ,ﷺ and it contains many priceless foundations for proper living, in-shaa’ Allaah.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Notice the root letters ( رحم) are always present regardless of how many letters are added. One or more of
the following letters are added to the base letters to form derivatives: (،س،أ،ل،ت،م،و،ن،ي،ها)سألتمونيها

The Entirely Merciful will be merciful to those who are merciful. Be merciful to who is on earth and you will get mercy from the one in the heaven.
Try to translate the Hadeeth by just applying what you know:
And say: my Lord forgive an have mercy [Al-Mu’minoon: 118]And You are the most Merciful of those who show mercy [Al-A`raaf: 151]
