3. Tracks
Hourglass
• The song “Hourglass” is taken from Catfish and the Bottlemen’s first
album which was released in 2014 named “The Balcony”. The song is
written from a females perspective who is the love interest of lead
singer Van McCann whilst he is away touring with the band. The music
video features Ewan McGregor and was released on the 14th of May
2015. We are considering using this song for our music video because
we wanted a song with a slow tempo so that we could create a good
narrative to go with the video or the fact we can make the video quite
literal due to the lyrics.
Kathleen
• Kathleen is the most popular single from the bands debut album. The
song is about being infatuated with someone in a bad way. Van
McCann during an interview describes the song meaning as “You know
the person you call when you’re tanked up and you know its over and
you know you don’t get on… and you’re always fighting, but something
keeps bringing you back no matter how much it drives you crazy.”. The
song was released on the 15th of September 2014. In contrast to
“Hourglass”, “Kathleen” is much more upbeat therefore if we were going
to use this song, our video would have to be more fast paced.
