4. Log In Using the iOS App
* Open canvas app
* Press “get started”
* When you are asked
for a URL, leave the
address given and press
“connect”
* Students will then type
in their email address
and password.

* “Activity Log” is what a
record of what the
student has done
* “To Do” is what the
student needs to do (will
update as you add)
* “Meyers” is the binder
where all assignments
for each class are located
6. Accessing Assignments
* From the to do
list
* Clicking on the
course folder
* Select the
assignment from
the list on the left
7. Turning in a Photograph
* Press the “submit” button, then
import from camera
* You can take a photo and
submit, or submit an existing
photo from your iPad
* To take a “new” photo and
upload press “Take Photo”
* To upload from your iPad press
“Choose from Library”, find the
photo and select.
* Find the desired photo on the
right and press submit.
8. Turning in an Uploaded Document
* Find the assignment you want to
turn in by opening it in the app it was
created in (Pages, Notability, Keynote,
etc).
* Press the share icon (a box with an
arrow coming out)
* Select “Open in,” choose a paper
option and Select “Open Note in…”
* Select “Open in Canvas”
* Canvas will open up automatically
* Select “Submit” and find your
document to the right of the camera
9. Checking Grades
* Students can see individual
grades by going to their course
folder and selecting the specific
assignment. (x out of y under
title)
* They can also click on the small
grade book in the bottom right
hand corner. Select the course
name and see their current
grade. If they select the course
they can see individual
assignment grades
10. How to accept your first course
Once you have sent out the
invite the student will

11. Creating a Teacher Account
* Go to the Canvas
Website
* Select I’m a
Teacher
* Fill in your
information
* Select “Get Started”
12. Start A Course, Send Out Invites
* Select “Start a New Course”
* Give your course a name (keep
settings Private)
* On the left hand side under “Next
Steps” select “Add Students to the
Course”
* Select blue button “+People”
* Add Students in the following
format:
Name, Name <s123456@fsusd.org>
* Select “Add Users” and “done”
13. Creating Assignments (Paper)
* Select the Course you would like
to add an assignment to. (if a
hammer icon appears next to the
course then it cannot be seen by any
student yet).
* Select “Assignments” from the left
side, and select the blue button
“+Assignment”
* Give the assignment a description,
select points, group and grading
options.
* Select submission type “On Paper”
* Update Assignment and Publish
14. *Follow the same steps
as a Paper Assignment
except select “Text Box”
under submission type.
* When students hit
submit, a text box will
pop up for them to type
in.

16. *In a web browser (Safari, Chrome):
- select the course and select
“Grades from the left side”
- manually assign grades by
clicking in each box
- Open the assignment and select
“Speed Grader” and view student
work assign grades and comments.
* From iPad use SpeedGrader App:
- Open the course folder, find the
assignment use tools on top.
