Review
Identify the subject in the following sentences. Tell whether it is
singular or plural.
1. Birds usually have pretty colors.
2. Toads and frogs are the noisiest animals I know.
3. Mother likes fresh-water fish.
4. Nilo observes insects closely.
5. The family attends mass on Sundays.
Motivation
What comes to your mind when you read the word ants?
Ants are like us. They also have a family. Each member has its
own work to do.

B. Developmental Activities
Presentation
Ants live together in a colony. The queen is the mother ant. She
lays all the eggs. The worker ants take care of the queen. They
gather food that is shared by everyone in the colony. They also
build and repair the nest. The father ant flies away with a young
female to look for a new nest. As the queen lays her eggs, the
father ant flies around for a while. In a few days, he dies.
