Used to
We use construction Used to + verb to talk about:

•habits or repeated actions in the past that no longer
happen
For example:
1.   I used to smoke 10 year ago but I don’t smoke now.
2.   I used to like ice-cream in childhood. Now I don’t like it.

•something that was true in the past but is not rue
any more
For example:
1.   This building used to be a cinema. Now it is a bookshop.
2.   I used to be a student. Now I am a teacher.
Look at the pictures and write what Helen used to be
 or have




Use the following words:
  - thin/fat;
  - short/long hair;
  - cat/dog

Write five sentences what you used or not used to be like when you
were 5 years old.
Used to:
     negative and questions
To make negative sentence we use the following scheme:
     didn’t + use to + verb
For example:
1.    I didn’t use to smoke 10 year ago.
2.    This building didn’t use to be a cinema.

To make questions we use the following scheme:
   Did _______ use to + verb
For example:
1.    Did you use to smoke 10 year ago.
2.    Did this building use to be a cinema.

Note! Used to + verb is only past, there is no present form.
