The document summarizes feedback received from audiences on three drafts of a music video. Key learnings include:
1) Audiences found the first draft difficult to understand and felt the colors could be brighter. Feedback helped improve the second draft.
2) The second draft showed noticeable improvement in coloring but could be more technically advanced.
3) Feedback will be analyzed to continue strengthening the video, particularly the technical aspects, before the final draft.

Q3) what have you learned from your audience feedback
1. Q3) What have you learned
from your audience
feedback?
2. Introduction
The main aspect which I have learnt through receiving feedback from my chosen
target audience, is the impact that this media product can have on them. Due to
the sensitive issue, I learnt early on that this issue can greatly affect the target
audience.
From audience feedback, I was able to develop a couple of my media texts.
Firstly, through constructive criticism and positive reinforcements, I could define
what aspects of the music video audience enjoyed.
First Draft Second Draft Third Draft
3. First Draft
Feedback from audience for my first draft:
Some audience members found it difficult to decode the narrative and representations.
The audience thought that colours could have been made brighter to create a more powerful
impact.
A few individuals thought the colour in the background almost got lost within the frame.
From this initial feedback, it gave a few aspects to work on and improve.
4. Questionnaire
In order to fully understand the underlying opinions of the
audience, I created a questionnaire for them to complete after
watching each draft. This will not only define what aspects are
good about the music video, it will give me constructive
criticism to work from. A similar questionnaire was made for
each draft to assess the progress and outline additional
improvements.
In the initial draft, audiences found it difficult to decode the
narrative and representation. Therefore, it was important that
I changed this aspect to make it clearer. The main visual
representation which can help audiences read the texts better
is the different backlighting. In the first draft, the colours
weren't bright enough and didn't create the powerful impact I
was looking for. Once getting people which fitted in the
bracket for the target audience (16-30 year olds), I was able to
gauge their opinion and make the changes according to their
criticism and the vision I had for the music video. This
demographic was readily available because people in my year
and friend groups coincide with the description of the target
audience.
5. Quantitative
Results
The quantitative results can allow my to
statistically understand the opinions of
the audience. By gaining this rough
perspective, I can make improvement
according to the qualitative data I
received. It is important when reviewing
feedback for it to be in different forms.
From the results, I gathered that not
everyone that watched the music video
thought the colouring was good. This
constructive criticism made me re-
evaluate what I wanted to represent and
how I was going to achieve this. From
this feedback, I began to think about
different ways I could improve on this
aspect. First of which was changing the
way I created the coloured backing. For
the second draft, I found the correct
back lighting equipment to intensify the
colouring.
The results for this question told me
that not everyone who watched the
music video enjoyed it. Therefore, I
need to improve it so I can receive a
more positive outcome in the second
draft.
This question asked the audience
what they would rate the music
video out of 10. The large
majority chose between 5 – 7.
The aspect of the music video which
needed the most work on was the
colouring. This question got a perspective
of the audiences opinions.
For this question, I wanted to know if they
saw the thumbnail to this video, would they
watch it. Surprisingly I received a more
positive response that what I was expecting.
6. Qualitative Results
When conducting the feedback, I created a questionnaire which included a combination of
quantitative and qualitative questions. Listed below are a few examples of the qualitative
questions.
Friend (18) - 'I really like how you're raising awareness for this cause through the lighting. Its
subtle but really affective. I just think the backlight could be more colourful'.
Family Member (19) - 'To make the message a bit more powerful, you should try and make them
brighter. Apart from that, I think it's really good'.
Friend (17) - 'The pink looks a little sparse. Next time you should try intensifying it. Maybe even
try make Beth look darker to make the silhouette darker, so the outline is sharper'.
Friend (17) - 'Instead of the pink transitioning into the creamy colour, I think the pink should
light up the whole of the back. But I really do think it looks cool and it suits the aesthetic of the
rest of the video'.
7. Second Draft
Feedback from audience for my second draft:
Most if not all said there was a noticeable improvement in the colouring from
the first to second draft.
Some individuals thought the editing to the beat could be a bit sharper.
A few audience members noticed a few repeating shots within the second
draft.
After making the adjustments, the extensive audience feedback will tell me
whether I made the right decisions or could improve it even further.
8. Questionnaire
Once I had received the data from the
previous questionnaire, I was able to make the
appropriate adjustments. Therefore, another
questionnaire was made to generate feedback
for this second draft. The questions in this
version included: Did you enjoy the music
video? Did you notice any significant changes
from the first draft to the second draft? Out of
10, how would you rate this music video? In
your opinion, which draft do you think is more
visually and technically advanced? And Out of
10, how would you rate the colouring in the
music video? The purpose of this questionnaire
was the establish an improvement from the
first to second draft and ensure the colouring
had improved. Once I had received the results,
I could analyse the improvements and make
additional alterations to create a third draft.
9. Quantitative
Results
The overall results were much more
positive in relation to the first draft.
However, I still have room for
improvement and need to make the
suitable adjustments. One of the main
improvements is including more
technical aspects into the third draft
of the music video. Creating technical
sophistication within the final draft
will receive even better results in the
final questionnaire.
10. Qualitative Results
After reviewing the feedback from the first draft, I made the appropriate adjustments
and asked the same audience to provide some more feedback.
Comments from my second draft:
Friend (18) - 'This is a vast improvement from what it was. The colour looks so much
more vibrant and eye catching. I really like this'.
Friend (17) - 'It's so much better, the colours look really good. I prefer it much more to
the first version'.
Family (19) - 'The dark around the outside and the lighter around Beth looks really
cool. Really like it'.
When comparing the first and the second draft. This set of initial results are much more
positive and less criticising.
