With smartphones, tablets, online newspapers, blogs and social media, the way we digest our reading material has changed significantly over the last few years. With the mind-boggling volume of online content available, how do you maintain focus on the most valuable content and keep your e-mail inbox clean? Here are some some technologies I use to keep up with current information and events without becoming overwhelmed.

18. What are Your Goals?
• Learn from others?
• Find new customers?
• Build a reputation or a
perception that you are
smart/connected/fun?
• Serve existing
customers?
• Connect with likeminded professionals?
• Dominate the search
engines?
You can accomplish all of these goals with social media,
but sharing alone is not enough! Take the time to create
your own content and engage with others.

19. Don’t Get Overwhelmed
• Don’t drink from the fire hose – only subscribe to
and read the content that adds value to you.
• Spend only enough time on social media to benefit
from it. For me, 15-30 minutes per day has been
about right.
• It doesn’t matter which social media platform you
use. Find a platform you’re comfortable with and
be good at it.
