2. Train Station
We are using Thornford Train Station, situated between Beer Hackett and
Thornford. We are using this location for the suicide scene at the end of the
narrative. It’s a suitable location because jumping in front of a train is a
common way of killing your self. There will be a close up of the train station
sign to clearly signify to the audience the location. We will be using the steps
to show our character walking down to the station, getting ready to kill him
self. We will use a close up of his feet to show the pivotal moment, right
before he commits suicide. All the narrative in the video clearly connotes the
feeling of social backwaters, depression and loneliness. Therefore, this scene
completely fits in with narrative. It brings the video to it’s expected climax.
3. Millennium Bench
(Thornford)
The Millennium Bench, outside of Thornford, is where we will show the narrative
shots of our actor in the present day, when he decides to commit suicide. We chose
this location because we thought that the trees enclosing the bench, with the long
view down the hill, would effectively connote loneliness and emptiness that he is
feeling. As well as this, we want the audience to be able to feel the remoteness of the
location, so that they get a real sense of how bad the character’s life has gotten, and
how remote he feels in the last moments of his life. In this location, we will use lots of
shots of John sitting on the bench, looking out at the countryside, as well as long
shots of the view to get across how isolated the character is.
4. Bus Station
We will be using the bus station on Lyde Road, Yeovil. We are
going to shoot our actor walking up and down the road whilst
drinking a bottle of vodka. We will also use shots of our actor sitting
at the bus stop. His costume will be smart because this is the
section in the narrative that is set in the past where the main
character lives in the city.
5. The Barn, Manor Farm
During the video, the character has a
flashback to his previous life. Here we will
show an extreme long shot of his old house
and tracking and panning shots of the interior.
This is a suitable location because it has an
old and timeworn feel, connoting a slightly
older house which was once well maintained.
Therefore, it suitable for our narrative
because it features an alcoholic reminiscing
about his previous life before it went to dire
straits.
6. Town house(Yeovil)
For the scene when the main character
visits his girlfriend house, we will be
using Jacob’s house as the location. It is
a suitable location because the house is
in the heart of Yeovil, and this is a scene
is set when John used to work and live in
the city. Although, Yeovil is not a city, this
kind of house looks like it could be in a
city.
Inside the house there is a suitable dining
room for the big confrontation between
the alcoholic and his girlfriend.
7. Garage (performance)
For our performance shots, we will
be using Jacob’s Garage. It has that
Garage Rock aesthetic due to the
posters, amplifiers and duvets on the
wall for sound proofing.
The performance space is cramped.
So, it brings a sense of togetherness
and unity to our presentation of the
band. The room is dimly lit and
therefore suits the theme of social
backwaters, thus tying in with the
narrative.
