2. WHAT IS YIK – YAK ?
• It is an anonymous social media tool that allows people to
anonymously post within a 1.5 mile radius.
• It was created to work like a bulletin board for college
campuses.
• Users can up vote and down vote yaks and if two or more users
find the post offensive it is automatically deleted.

3. CONTROVERSY
HARMLESS FUN OR BULLYING TOOL?
• Yik-Yak is anonymous which can lead to a tendency to post
without consequences.
• Several school districts have banned it all together because of the
bullying that goes along with the app.
• There have been threats of school shooting posted on the site.
• Although invented for college campuses the app has found it’s way to
high school and junior high campuses.

4. • The proponents of the app say that is just a fun social media
application like twitter.
• The ability to down vote something and delete offensive posts
self polices the application and they do not feel that bullying
goes on or of it does it does not stay up.

5. SOCIAL MEDIA IS EVER EVOLVING
• Because social media is ever evolving it would be a better idea
to figure out a way to educate people on acceptable behavior
rather than outlaw apps.
• Getting to the root of bullying is a better way to handle social
media flaming.
