Dear Judges:
My name is Dondrei Hubbard and I am a 16 year old senior at CreekviewHigh School. I
am very athletic and play football basketball and baseball. My main sport is baseball and
I am going to attend Georgia Perimeter Junior College in the fall on a baseball
scholarship. For my senior project I chose to help my teammate make the baseball team
this year because unfortunately he did not make it last year. The reason I chose this as my
senior project is because I love helping people and I love baseball so helping somebody
get better at baseball was my forte.
My actual product is Sean Cheshire who is also a senior at Creekview High School. After
Sean did not make the baseball team last year he asked me if I could help him improve
his skills so he could make it. We started working out in December and I came to the
conclusion that he was not as strong as the other competitors that were also trying to
make the baseball team. So I did some research on how to get in baseball shape and I got
a lot of good information about how most people try to cheat and use steroids to help
them enhance rapidly without working hard. So instead of cheating we worked out hard
and was in the weight room at least twice a week and we did push-ups and situ-ups every
day. It was a good thing that I was helping him because I turned out helping myself. In
the end Sean made the team as the third string Second Basemen and continued to work
hard. As a result of Sean’s hard work the starting Second Basemen got injured and Sean
actually earned the starting spot over the second string guy.
As a career I would like to become a professional athlete but if that does not work out
then I am going to stay in the sports/athletic field and be a coach or a personal trainer. By
doing this senior project I have learned that it takes a lot of hard work to become
successful and also a lot of patience. I also learned that you can do anything you put your
mind to if you have faith in yourself.
Overall the senior project turned out to be a successful challenge. I love doing stuff that is
challenging because it brings out the leader of me. I think it is a great way to see another
side of yourself that you have never seen before. I would like to thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
