Based upon my opinion and research I believe that it is not possible to be religious and at the same

Within many known religions, the devotional practices has been known to acquire great importance.
The essence of practicing what you preach has scolded many religious groups, introducing true
beliefs, righteousness, and a wider connection to the supreme being . In the book entitled " Living
religions" by Mary Pat Fisher, clarified and firm descriptions were introduced about religious
rituals. Surprisingly; the author utilized small parts of modern concepts, limiting the reader from a
full comprehension of religious practices today, therefore; I will only discuss the basic and
traditional rituals. To elaborate; in this paper, I will be providing an opinionated but also,
comparative description of the major practices and rituals that undergo in both the Abrahamic and
indigenous religions.
With the major religions constantly crashing together, the principles and customs of each religion
seem to always build similarities each time you study them. This is what occurred to me when i
began reading "Living religions" studying practices and rites. Beginning with the traditional
indigenous groups – descendants of the original inhabitants of lands now controlled by larger
political systems in which they may have little influence (33) –, I observed the common rites

Nye discusses the term "religion" twice as a noun, once as an adjective, and once as a verb. One
noun represents religion as a "universal" aspect of humanity, the other noun signifies a specific
religion, the adjective form describes a behavior or experience, and the verb is the act of practicing,

the basis for the fact that religion has a multitude of implications. Nye focuses on these

Christianity is one of the largest religions in the world with more than 2.4 billion people as shown

If one were to ask some strangers on the street if Islam is a peaceful religion, one would get a wide
range of answers. Some would claim that Islam is a peaceful religion and the terrorists are extreme

Beowulf is one of the most well–known poems in the world. It is considered the "mother poem" of
England and has been for centuries. Christianity and Paganism do not go hand in hand as they are
both well distinguished, but opposites throughout Beowulf. In the poem, the Christian monk reveals
how the characters react to different situations using both religions. The core values of Paganisms
believe in retaliation and vengeance, whereas Christianity's core values signify forgiveness. Both of
these attributes contradict each other through the course of the poem because the warriors look to
God for guidance and protection before battle. However, when things do not go as planned they then
blame it on fate. The "unknown author" in Beowulf distinguishes both religions in the poem by
providing symbolism and ideologies for both Christianity and Paganism and how they contradict
one another. Beowulf incorporates numerous Christian references across the poem. Beowulf

importance it has given men.
Judaism is the way of life of the Jewish people. The religion follows the Hebrew bible and believes
that it is the expression of God with the children of Israel. According to Jewish law anyone born of a
Jewish mother or someone who converts into Judaism is considered a Jew. Their faith is based on
the laws revealed to Moses and recorded in the Torah. The role of women in Judaism has

male. They also believe that women were created with greater intelligence; however, they are

be priority over any other undertaking, including any religious gatherings or proceedings. In

numbers seem high, the statistics rise. Approximately ⅓ of American women have had an abortion
by the age of 45.₁ There are multiple aspects of abortion that are popular in debate. With religion
playing a massive role in global functioning, it becomes one of the most popular arguments.
Another topic widely discussed would be the emotional impact of having an abortion. Lastly, legal
and ethical debates are highly favored discussions. Although some may attempt to justify the act of
abortion, there are many reasons it should not be tolerated. Generally speaking, most large religious
groups agree that abortion is an act of murder. For them, it's not just a matter that concerns a human

defined as "someone whose life appears to be morally exemplary, and therefore seemingly fit to give
advice on moral and ethical conduct." An example of an entertainer who has lost moral authority
would be Miley Cyrus. For most of her life, she was considered America's star child especially
when she and her father were on "Hannah Montana." They were a typical Western American family
that got famous off of her father's success, leading to further success from Miley. For years, Disney
forced her to be a figure of moral authority and be an inspiration to young girls across the world.
This quickly fell to the wayside, as did she, when she began posing nude for photo shoots, posting
progressively raunchier photos to social media, and performing in progressively skimpier outfits.
Parents everywhere refused to have their young daughters follow her as a moral authority figure and
follow her advice once Miley went off of Disney's contract and safe space. She has since recovered
her credibility and controlled herself a bit however that girl who could stand without question as a
moral authority figure for girls across the world will never return. It's very important for entertainers
and athletes to maintain moral authority, with Miley Cyrus as a great example of this. Disney

Examining Religious Works The first text, Dominus Iesus, is relevant to the study of world religions
today since one of the fundamental ideas espoused in this idea is that, despite the fact that the
Christian Church is designed to lead people toward salvation, the "truth of the faith does not lessen
the sincere respect which the Church has for the religions of the world" (13). In other words, in this
work, the Church adopts a more ecumenical stance although, admittedly, the Church still positions
itself and, by extension, Christianity, as the greatest religion given that it is not prone to accepting
the idea of religious relativism. Of course, many people are likely to find this position contradictory
– even problematic – as it suggests that, while there may be merit in other religions, there is more
merit in Christianity. As a Muslim, I did not like hearing this, and certainly did not agree as I know
that there are other faiths – Islam, for instance – that are just as great as Christianity. What I liked
about this text was how forceful it was in declaring the Church's beliefs even though I do not
necessary agree with these beliefs. Often times, people skirt around what they belief, afraid of
offending others, but this document does not. What I disliked was how this document declares the
supremacy of Christianity, a point bolstered by the idea that even though "followers of other
religions can receive divine grace, it is also certain that objectively speaking they are
