3. SEED STORAGE
• After harvesting the seed has to be retained till next
sowing or its sale in the market during this period for
maintaining its germination and vigour , The seed is kept
at low tem. and low humidity conditions which is termed
as seed storage.
8. SILO
The modern facilities for storage of grains in bulk is
silo. Silo are constructed from steel. There are a
cluster of adjoining silo in any modern processing
plant of large capacity these silos may or may not be
different in configaration.

These are generally circular with conical bottom. Bulk
storage bins for storage of grain can be made from
rain forced concrete, mild steel block sheet, aluminum
sheet, fiber glass, brick etc. But in India mild sheet
bins and RCC bins are quit common.

12. DEEP AND SHALLOW BINS
Silo or bins are classified into two groups depending
of the container. They are deep bins and shallow bins .
A bins whose dimensions are such that the plane of
raptures meets the gri surface before it stripes the
opposite site is called shallow bin a bin in which plane
of rapture meets the opposite side before it emerge
from the grain is called deep bin.
