How Did The Great Pyramids Build
The Great Pyramid held the record for over 3000 years as being the tallest structure in the world made by people (Jarus). Today, architects and
historians are still puzzled over how the Great Pyramids were built. They have suggested many different unique explanations on how they got there.
Some of these theories included ramps, wooden levers, and even aliens. Although the majority of scholars argue that ramps were used to build the
Great Pyramids, all credible evidence reveals that water and specifically hydraulics were used to build the Great Pyramids. Ever since the Great
Pyramids were discovered many people questioned how they were built, because the method of construction for these large structures was not recorded.

Olmec Colossal Head Analysis
In this essay, I will compare and contrast two different sculptures from two different contexts of art. The first being an Olmec Colossal head
(monument 1), from the context of "Art of the Americas," and the second sculpture being ahead from Rafin Kura. The head from Rafin Kura comes
from the context of "Art of Africa." Both sculptures come from two different time periods and parts of the world. They also are both made with natural
materials and have their own symbolic meaning.
With the help of local villagers, the Olmec Colossal head (monument 1) sculpture was discovered in San Lorenza in the state of Veracruz, Mexico in
1945 by archeologist Mathew Stirling and his wife, Marion. This head stands 8–feet– tall and weighs about 25 tons. While this is the first of many,
each of the Olmec Colossal heads ranges from different heights and weights. They were also spread out along many southern Mexican cities such as
La Venta, San Lorenzo Tenochtitlan, Tres Zapotes, and Rancho la Cobata. The Olmec Colossal heads were created using stone, along with reeds and
wet sand for facial details so that the features were noticeable such as the eyes, mouth, and nostrils (they have real depth). ... Show more content on

The Nok heads and sculptures of Nigeria are made hallow, life–sized terra–cotta figures with a coiling technique commonly used to make pottery
vessels (Thames & Hudson, 2015, pg.451). Nok heads were made with clay and although clay is very durable it is also breakable. However, very
few sculpture have been found undamaged. The head of the figures was larger than the bodies because the artists wanted to emphasize the association
between the head with knowledge and identity. The Nok head below is from Rafin Kura, sculpted in c. 500 BCE–200 CE. Like many Nok heads, this
sculpture has a unique hairstyle, with three buns on top. It also has triangular– shaped eyes with holes in the pupils, nostrils, mouth, and

Ancient Egypt: Who Built The Pyramids
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words ancient egypt? Cleopatra? The Great Sphinx? Eyeliner? Powerful pharaohs?
These are all great symbols of ancient egypt, but ancient egypt just wouldn't be ancient egypt without the pyramids. Of course it took a lot of people
and a lot of time to build these immense structures, but who built the pyramids? Who designed them? And were any of these builder or architects
famous? These questions are what I'm trying to answer and answer them I will. Let's start by answering the question, "Who built the pyramids?" At first
it seemed like only slaves would spend so much time building something that seemed so inessential, but that's not the case. Most people voluntarily
helped with the building of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well the first known architect named Imhotep, was also the most famous. He built a pyramid for King Djoser and this started the whole Pyramid
fad. He was born a commoner and he was many other things as well. Such as an admired healer, sage, high priest, and advisor for King Djoser. It is
believed that Imhotep worked for as many as four kings, he was famous while he lived, and even more so in death. Even though Imhotep was very
famous, the great Pyramid was not built by him, and the same goes for the rest of the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid of Giza was built by King
Khufu, and is the tallest of the pyramids standing at 480 feet tall. Then King Khufu's son and Grandson built the two other renowned pyramids of
Giza. His Son Khafre built the second largest Pyramid which was 448 feet tall, and his son Menkaure carried on the tradition. King Menkaure who
was Khafre's son and King Khufu's grandson built the smallest, and last of the Giza pyramids. His Pyramid was roughly 215 feet, the pyramids got

Sphinx Research Paper
Can you imagine walking up and touching a strange an immense stone sculpture in the middle of a plateau? Visualize looking into the body of a lion
and the head of a human. Picture seeing one of the oldest and largest statues in the world. Are you seeing the Sphinx in Giza, Egypt?
The Sphinx is located in Giza, Egypt. Each day the sun rises in the east and sets in west. The ancient Egyptians were very superstitious, so everything
on the western bank of the Nile River represented death to the Egyptians. It is believed that the Sphinx was a protector of the pyramids and buried
people in the land because it was located on the western side of the Nile.
The Sphinx is 240 feet long, 66 feet tall and 63 feet wide. Each paw is as long as a school bus, which makes you feel really small if you are
standing right in front of it. Originally it had a long, braided beard (which is at the Smithsonian Museum) and a headdress, which was painted. The
nose is missing but nobody knows exactly what happened to it. There are many theories about what happened, but no proof has been discovered to
match any of the theories. The entire body was covered in sand until 1905. Until then, only the head could be seen. ... Show more content on

Although, a few stalwart Egyptologists still retain that the Pharaoh Khafre was constructed in the fourth Dynasty, an immense amount of evidence,
both archaeological and geological, suggests that the Sphinx is much older than the fourth Dynasty, and was just restored by Khafre during his reign.
There are no inscriptions on the Sphinx, or on any of the temples connected to it that proposes evidence of construction by Khafre, yet the so–called
'Inventory Stele' states that the Pharaoh Cheops (Khafre's precursor), ordered a temple built next to the Sphinx, signifying of course that the Sphinx
was previously there, and therefore couldn't have been constructed by

The Great Pyramid Of Giza Research Paper
The Great Pyramid of Giza was one of the seven wonders of the world because of its size, its background, and the amount of time it took to build.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is a very important artifact to us today and in the Ancient world. The size of the Great Pyramid of Giza helped make it
one of one of the seven wonders of the world. The Pyramid itself is 481 feet tall and the workers actually had to make ramps to get the two and a
half to fifteen ton blocks into the higher level of the Pyramid (National Geographic). The Pyramid had 2.3 million blocks that made up the Pyramid
(National Geographic). The background of the Pyramid is also a big part of why it's one of the Seven Wonders Of The World. The Pyramid was
made for Pharaoh Khufu for when he died (Bower). It is the largest Pyramid ever built still to this day (Bower). The Pyramid had three burial
chambers for the Pharaoh and his family. The chambers had to have six roofs to hold the heavy amount of weight of the blocks above (National
Geographic). The Great Pyramid of Giza was located a couple of miles North of the Nile and was directed almost perfectly in the Northern direction

The Great Sphinx
What has a body of a lion and a face of a man? Well, the answer is... THE GREAT SPHINX!!! It is a pyramid in Egypt that holds a pharaoh's (a ruler's)
body in it. Scientists believe that it is older than Jesus but no one really knows when it was built.
The Great Sphinx needed a lot of people to build. Both men and women worked on it and the only tools that they used were hammers, chisels, and
axes. The Great Sphinx is carved out of one HUGE block of stone! WOW! It is 187 feet long and 65.7 feet high. The bottom and top layers are hard,
while the middle layer is softer.
The Great Sphinx's body was originally painted red, the headdress stripes blue, and the rest of the headdress yellow. Sadly, the colours eroded so you

The future king's name was Tuthmosis IV. After falling asleep in the shade of the Sphinx when out hunting, the pharaoh dreamt that the great beast was
choking from the sand engulfing it, and that it told him if he cleared the sand he would obtain the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. In between the
front paws of the Sphinx is a granite stela, now called the "Dream Stela", which is inscribed with the story of the pharaoh's dream. After that, the
Sphinx got buried by sand again, but it was unburied by archaeologists. The entire Sphinx was excavated in 1925 to 1936, in digs led by Г‰mile
Baraize.
Here is a riddle that the sphinx said, I think you know this one:
What walks on 4 legs in the morning, on 2 at noon, and on 3 in the evening?
Answer: A man
The Great Sphinx is an extraordinary work of art and it has a long and interesting history. We have to protect its existence because it lasted so long, it
should be protected. The Great Sphinx is a dive deep into our history. :)

Why Is The Stonehenge Important
The Stonehenge is a massive stone monument located on a 'chalky plain' north of Salisbury, England. It was built between 4,000–5,000 years ago and
believed to be completed in 3100 BC. It is made up of two main stones: Sarsens and Bluestones. The sarsen stones are considered the biggest stones,
while the bluestones are referenced as the smallest ones. There are many mysteries of the Stonehenge that have yet to be revealed. It is a magical and
allegorical monument in England.
The surface area of one of the stones used in a Trilithon Horseshoe is 222.87m^2. I found the surface area using the formula, PH+2B. The volume of
the same stone is 8.075m^3. This was found using the formula, BH. These formulas were used to calculate the surface area and the volume because

There are three theories that are thought to be the reason in creating the massive monument. One theory is that it was used as a sacred burial site.
Finds of skeletons and burial mounds and the existence of a ceremonial route are evidence that it was used as a burial site. Another theory is that it was
used as a site Celestial and Astronomical Alignments. The only evidence to support this theory is that the timings of the cermonies are significant.
Lastly, there is a theory in which the Stonehenge was used as a place for healing. Many ancient societies argue that the bluestones had healing
properties. Many sacred and significant stones make up the construction of the Stonehenge. The Trilithon Horseshoe is five sets of stones arranged in a
horseshoe shaped pattern. The Slaughter Stone is a stone in the ground which is regarded as the entrance to the monument. The sun rises next to the
Heel Stone during the summer solstice. The Heel Stone is located along the Avenue, a series of ditches. Finally, the Alter Stone, located inside the

How Were Pyramids Built
How Were Pyramids Built?
Thousands of workers spent years of hard labor to build the pyramids. Farmers did much of the work during the summer months when the Nile River
flooded and they could not farm. Surveyors, engineers, carpenters, and stonecutters also helped build the pyramids. The first great engineer who built
pyramids was Imhotep (ihm HOH tehp). He also served as an official for the pharaoh.
Workers searched for stone in places throughout theNile River valley or in Upper Egypt. After locating the stone, skilled artisans used copper tools to
cut the stone into huge blocks. Next, workers used rope to fasten the blocks onto wooden sleds. The sleds were pulled along a path made of logs to
the Nile River. There, the stones were moved

Scribe Of The King Essay
Haremhab as a Scribe of the King (acc. no. 23.10.1) is an Egyptian sculpture by an anonymous sculptor during the Old Kingdom between the years
1336– 1323 BCE. It was made during the 18th dynasty when Tutankhamun and later Aya ruled as kings. An unknown artist most probably created this
three–dimensional life size sculpture in Memphis, Egypt. It is a freestanding sculpture and is 113 centimeters high and 71 centimeters wide, and is
made out of grey granite. The piece depicts a Scribe to the king in ancient Egypt. Through analysis of the formal elements and other artistic techniques
displayed in this piece, the observer gets an experience of how high the status of Scribes were in Egyptian culture.
A main formal element used in this work is the use of lines. Haremhab is displayed sitting down in Indian style with both his legs bent and crossed
over. There are clear horizontal lines all throughout the sculpture. Starting from Haremhab's head, horizontal lines define his headdress. His clothing is
also structured out of horizontal lines. The horizontal lines are also demonstrated on the brick / ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The piece is also made up of both smooth and rigid textures. His legs, his garment, and the curved lines under his belly demonstrate rigidness. This
texture on these areas can imply that the artist wanted to create detail to the sculpture. If the viewer looked at the sculpture from the back, he would
notice that the bottom of the figure's back is also rigid defined by many coarse lines. This rigidness can indicate that this is the skirt Haremhab is
wearing. The rest of the figure has a smooth texture. The lighting of Haremhab as a Scribe of the King is crucial to understanding the amount of detail
the artist put into this sculpture. The lighting enables the viewer to realize that the sculpture is not shiny and not very

The Impact Of The Great Pyramids Of Egypt And The Pyramids
What makes up a pyramid? 12 lines, 5 faces, 4 triangles, 1 base, and 5 vertexes and in the case of the Great Pyramids of Giza about 2.3 million
stone blocks that weigh an average of 2.5 to 15 tons. That according to the time it took to build them they would have had to place and set a stone
every 2 to 2 and a half minutes. To put that in perspective some weigh as much or more than an armed military cargo truck. So, imagine dragging a
cargo truck with nothing but some strong rope and some other people. Now if you're like most people you can lift maybe 100 pounds. However, the
average powerlifter can lift 350 to 400 pounds and that's just lift not pack around or drag across acres of land. Now how did the Egyptians build the
Great Pyramid of Giza with blocks that weigh up to 15 tons with the technology they had then? It's clearly very obtuse to think the pyramids were
built by the Egyptians and the Egyptians alone. The question is, who helped them? I'll tell you who helped them. It was the beings that have been
erased from human history, the ones hiding amongst the stars at all this time watching us. The ones that stop by to build their structures, while
casually using our resources. The ones that built Stonehenge, the Pyramids, the face on Mars, Easter island, and the ones that make the crop circles,
the Aliens. The aliens have been there all along ever so subtly leaving us messages too advanced for us to understand helping the hard workers build
their so called "sacred structures". Were the aliens just being neighborly trying to help or did they have more incentive? The aliens had more than
enough incentive to help build these structures, especially the pyramids. They took advantage of the Egyptians need for a sacred place to bury their
kings and the obtuse triangle formed by Orion's Belt. They lined up the structures with the stars of Orion's Belt to create the energy column. Then, they
created a complex tunnel system, so no one could ever find their transporter and then they left through the triangular column that forms between the
pyramids and Orion. Only to be able to return or communicate at night when the column reforms. Who do they communicate with, you may ask? The

Did Aliens Help Build the Pyramids?
A major conspiracy theory has begun to float around claiming that aliens helped build the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza. In "Did aliens Build the
Pyramids?" season 1, episode 10 of The Worlds Strangest UFO Stories, Jason Martel states that he believes humans could have had the man power to
build the pyramids but, the knowledge on how to build them had to come from somewhere else. Other theorist believe that humans during this time
period were nothing more than primitive beings. Eric Von Daniken, another interviewee in the episode, states that he doesn't believe that architects
could come right out from the stone age. There are even theorist who believe they can speak to the aliens about the pyramids and their purposes. In
"Did Aliens Build the Pyramids?" Lyssa Royal Holt, the acclaimed intergalactic medium, speaks to the interviewer as Sasha, her alien friend who
communicates with her spiritually. She states "in ancient days my fore fathers came to earth. We were seeking another place to colonize". Many
theorists feel strongly about the wonders of the world and how they couldn't have possibly been made by humans alone. Although "ancient alien
theorists" contend that the Pyramids were built with help from aliens, scientific evidence clearly shows physical signs that they were built by humans.

various things including earth, timber, and stone structures. This work of art was remodeled and revised over more than 1400 years. In order to
build the master piece, it had to be done in phases. Phase I is where the beginning of the construction started. They made a large circle that was
surrounded by ditch then following a bank going inwards to the 56 Aubrey holes that would hold wooden posts, Phase II, the Aubrey holes eventually

The Great Pyramid Of Giza
Giza, an area located southwest of what is now known as Cairo, is home to one of the most astonishing and mysterious feats of architecture ever
assembled, The Great Pyramid. Located approximately 5 miles west of the Nile River near the city of Cairo, Egypt, The Great Pyramid is part of a
larger complex called the Giza Necropolis, which also houses the Great Sphinx, and two smaller pyramids. It is said to have been built by the enslaved
citizens of Khufu, second ruler of the 4th dynasty, and son of Snefru. Although archaeologists have since disproved that theory. The pyramids are said
to have been built to house the deceased bodies of the pharaohs after they have transitioned into the after–life. However, there is no evidence of this
being the case. There are many questions surrounding the Pyramids of Giza, some of which, might not ever be answered. Subsequently, archaeologists,
engineers, scientists and Egyptologists have been able to provide some very logical theories to try and answer these questions.
Built between 2589 BC and 2504 BC for pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Pyramids of Giza are the only ones of the original structures of
the Seven Wonders of the World that still stand. There were eight major feats of engineering involved in the construction of the pyramid. First, the
builders had to level the foundation and cut a 6,000 hectare bedrock to fit the strangely shaped slabs of stone. Each stone at the foundation of the

The Great Pyramids : The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
The Pyramids are the most oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the just a single to remain to a great extent in place. The largest of
the three pyramids at Giza, known as the Great Pyramid, is truly an astonishing work of engineering. It was built over a twenty year period. Some
believe that it was built by slaves, but this is not true. One hundred thousand people worked on the great structure for three months of each year, during
the Nile's annual flood when it was impossible to farm the land and most of the population was unemployed. The pharaoh provided good food and
clothing for his workers, and was kindly remembered in folk tales for many centuries. The sides are oriented to the four cardinal points of the
compass and the length of each side at the base is 755 feet (230.4 m). The faces rise at an angle of 51Вє 52' and their original height was 481 feet (147
m). (They currently rise 451 feet [138 m].) It was constructed using around 2,300,000 limestone blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 tons. Some
blocks weigh as much as 16 tons. For centuries, the Great Pyramid was encased in smooth limestone, but this was plundered in our era to build Cairo.
Old–fashioned Egyptians assumed that when the master passed on, some bit of his spirit (called "Ka") remained with his body. To really control to

the average size of a giraffe is between 13 to 14ft let alone a their legs are longer than most humans about 6ft tall. Their height also keeps them on
the lookout for any predators. Giraffes are also known for their extremely long tongue the 21 inch tongue is used to pluck tasty morsels from
branches. Each giraffes weighs about 1,750 to 2,800 lbs that is about 13 times the average human. You might've noticed that giraffes are quite
large animals. Giraffes are called browsers which means that they eat leaves from branches. They are eating most of the time an average giraffes
eats about 75 lbs a day, but can survive on 35. Like cows regurgitate food and chew it as cud this means portion of food that returns from the
stomach to the mouth to be chewed for the second time. On average they drink 7.5 litres of water a week but they can go week and months without
drinking a drop of water, their structure is a disadvantage when drinking out of water hole to do so they have to spread their legs and bend down
which makes them very vulnerable to predators.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sound is more clear during the mating season males use a human like coughing noise to attract the female giraffes. Sometimes giraffes make a low

Aliens Built the Pyramids
Aliens built the Egyptian pyramids. Recent research supports the theory that the Pyramids were built long before humans inhabited the area now
known as Egypt. It is also nearly impossible for the Egyptians to have lifted and moved the limestone brick used to build these massive structures.
Only a more advanced form of life could have constructed such an enormous undertaking, while using advanced mathematics and geography that were
not yet known to ancient peoples. Archeologists suggest that the large stones used in building the pyramids were transported by rolling them over logs
or a wet, slippery, clay surface. These methods may have been effective in moving the blocks close to the building site, but do not explain how the

The Egyptian Reserve Heads Essay
Introduction Khufu's reign in the beginning of the Fourth Dynasty marks one of the greatest periods of change in funerary monumental construction.
The careful planning of his complex at Giza extended from the Great Pyramid itself to the satellite cemeteries that would eventually hold the members
of his family and his administration. It is in this temporal and geographic space that a puzzling find, unique to the Pyramid Age, appeared. The
Egyptian reserve heads, well–sculpted depictions of human heads, have remained an enigma since their first finding. Funerary anomalies, their
composition, characteristic features, and placement have sparked multiple theories about their significance within the private funerary cult and within

This term has since been commonly adopted to refer to the heads as they have been the subjects of articles, lectures, and one very complete study by
Roland Tefnin. While many musings and theories have been put forth to explain the presence and purpose of the heads, no previous work has
attempted to combine the archaeological contexts with objective descriptions of the heads themselves. Tefnin's work is impressive in its detail, yet he
spends little time discussing the archaeological context beyond general geographic position. Reisner and Junker, who excavated the majority of the
tombs containing reserve heads, published the heads with their context. Nevertheless, neither included the heads or contexts excavated by the other.
Luckily, the methodologies employed by both Reisner and Junker were ahead of their time. Thanks to their careful publication, it is possible, at least to
some degree, to discuss the contexts with confidence. With the publications of the other excavators, the situation is not as auspicious. Similarly, the
heads themselves are often described in romanticized terms meant to capture the character of the person portrayed. Even more recent scholarship
frequently generalizes about the features extant on the heads. This subjective,

The Influence Of The Great Pyramids Of Giza
The most famous Egyptian pyramids to be built are the Great Pyramids of Giza, located in the outskirts of present–day Cairo. There are over 100
Egyptian pyramids of various sizes, and over 50 more in neighboring Sudan. However, the three Great Pyramids of Giza earn their fame by being the
largest of these.
In the most popular pictures of the Pyramids of Giza, like the one shown below, the middle pyramid, that of Khafre (Chephren), appears larger due to
the angle and because it was built on higher ground. The largest pyramid is actually the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the one on the left.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu
Contrary to popular belief, not all the Great Pyramids of Giza are considered part of the Seven Wonders of the World. Only the largest, the Great
Pyramid of Khufu, is a member, and is the only one of the Seven Wonders that still stands.Egypt was also home to another of the Seven Wonders of the

That area is large enough to fit over 20 Olympic–size swimming pools! And for thousands of years, until the rise of modern–day skyscrapers, the

What makes the pyramid an architectural triumph and one of the Seven Wonders of the World is the fact that the rocks used in its construction each
way more than 2 tons. And there are more than 2 million of those rocks.
Greek travelers to ancient Giza wrote that it took a hundred thousand slaves 20 years to construct the pyramid. However, since they visited Egypt more
than 2 thousand years after the Egyptian pyramids were built, the truth of their accounts are suspect. Modern engineers estimate that it would likely
take less people and less time to build the pyramid using technology that was available at that

Egyptian Pyramids: The Red Pyramid By Natalie Alexander
Egyptian Pyramids written and researched by Natalie Alexander
The Red Pyramid This was a real pyramid built by the Pharaoh Sneferu in the Old kingdom, the first peak of Egyptian civilization. The Red Pyramid,
though, wasn't originally red. It used to have white Tura limestone as its casing. However, thepyramid's white layers eventually was stripped away to
make new buildings in Cairo, showing the pink granite underneath and giving it a reddish color. It is the third largest Egyptian pyramid, 334 feet tall,
with the second largest base. The pyramid was built to be a burial chamber, but there is much debate over whether it was actually used, since the
pyramid showed extreme instability in later years.

Essay on The Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is also recognized as the Pyramid of Khufu, Khufu's Pyramid and Pyramid of Cheops. It is the most significant and
earliest structure in the world. This pyramid is the oldest of the three pyramids standing on the Giza Necropolis. It is also the largest of them all
(Larry, 2000). This great pyramid is located on the northern edge of the Giza Plateau, which is 25 km outskirts, southwest of Cairo, Egypt. It is the only
remaining standing monument of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (Crystalink, 2011). It is said that the pyramid was built as the tomb for the
Fourth Dynasty Egyptian King Khufu (known in Greek as Cheops).

It seems that the pyramid was never completed to be built. This is because it has a flat top and not pointed as it ought to have. Its summit is truncated
and it is uneven and coarse and it is 30 square feet in measurement. This is unlike other pyramids which were put a top stone that crowned them and
completed their structure (gizapyramid.com, 2011). Other sources suggest that originally the cap existed but is currently missing. They say that the cap
stone was sheathed in gold and this golden cap with the beautiful encased white limestone made an impressive, shining sight in the bright sun in Egypt
(Krystek, 2010).
The limestone's that were used to build the pyramids were taken from quarries along the Nile River. When the building was completed the Great
Pyramid was surfaced using white casing stones that slanted and were flat at the top (Krystek, 2010). The smooth blocks were beautiful, extremely
well polished and white. This came to be known as the Casing Stones (Krystek, 2010). These have since then been cut off by Arabs who use them to
build mosques in Cairo. However, a few of them still remain. Before the Arabs begun to strip off the casing stones they were very beautiful to look at.
The original pyramid with its white casing would operate like humongous mirrors that powerfully reflected light on the moon and be seen like a star on
earth (gizapyramid.com, 2011).

Mogao Pyramids Research Paper
Construction methods have made a tremendous improvement throughout the years. The human race started by finding and digging caves to
dwell in, some of which where originally occupied by other animals. Caves are the birth place to the construction type called carving space which
contains structures and temples the where carved into the ground or side of a hill. Stacking space, a newer form of construction, came after
carving space once mankind realized there were better ways to build curtain structures. These two building types may sometimes appear to be the
same and create similar spaces but a closer look shows that they can be so much different. Carving space is what mankind started with but it soon
led to stacking space. Since these two building types came one after the other, the building materials where very similar because not many other
building materials had been discovered yet. Mogao Caves, caves well known to buddhist people, is located in China and is a great example of carving
space due to the amerce amount or area carved into the stone and rock of the side of a hill (Kyan). On the other hand, a good example of stacking

How Did Egyptian Civilization Differ From Ancient...
Most scholars now believe that isolated civilizations first arose independently at several locations; initially in Mesopotamia around Tigris and
Euphrates rivers and, a little later, in Egypt and the eastern Mediterranean. Other civilizations arose in Asia along the Indus River in modern India and
the Yellow River in what is now China.
All these early civilisations had to invent or discover everything for themselves because unlike later civilisations such as the Greeks in the west or the
Chinese in the east, they had no one to learn from. Therefore, the Egyptians had to invented mathematics, geometry, surveying, metallurgy, astronomy,
accounting, writing, paper, medicine, the ramp, the lever, the plough, mills for grinding grain and all the paraphernalia that goes with large organised
societies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact it is the first monumental stone building designed and constructed that we know of.
Writing
Along with the Mesopotamians, the Egyptians were the first people to develop their language into a codified form of writing. All early forms of
writing were pictograms – pictures. All writing systems developed in this way but their original forms become lost as the pictures are refined into
abstract forms. What is interesting about the Egyptians is that although their writing changed to the abstract form of Hieratic they deliberately
preserved the hieroglyphic pictures in their original forms.
Papyrus Sheets
Papyrus sheets are the earliest paper–like material – all other civilisations used stone, clay tablets, animal hide, wood materials or wax as a writing
surface. Papyrus was, for over 3000 years, the most important writing material in the ancient world. It was exported all around the Mediterranean and
was widely used in the Roman Empire as well as the Byzantine Empire. Its use continued in Europe until the seventh century AD, when an embargo on
exporting it forced the Europeans to use parchment.

How The Pyramids Of Giza Were Created?
How the Pyramids of Giza Were Created?
No one knows exactly how the Pyramids of Giza were created, but people have studied the pyramids and come up with many theories. There are many
theories on how the Pyramids of Giza were built, ranging from extraterrestrial life forms to convoluted building techniques. The Pyramids of Giza are
the most complex pyramids built by the Egyptians; it seems unimaginable that the Egyptians were able to create such massive structures without any
advanced technology, like we have. These structures were the largest buildings in the world until modern technology came around. The Egyptians
created the pyramids as tombs for their pharaohs and queens. The three massive structures hold the pharaohs, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Pyramids
have stunned humanity; many people have tried to solve the mystery of the pyramids but we will never know for sure. This is why the Pyramids of
Giza are one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
One theory "Probing Question: How Were the Egyptian pyramids built?" by Marissa McCauley takes a plausible approach to how the pyramids were
built. In the article it states "But the process of building pyramids, while complicated, was not as colossal an undertaking as many of us believe,
Redford says. Estimates suggest that between 20,000 and 30,000 laborers were needed to build the Great Pyramid at Giza in less than 23 years." This
shows how the construction of the Egyptians was very difficult, but still manageable

Hidden Chamber Found in Great Pyramid of Giza
By : Minkyung (Erin) Kim
The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the seven wonders of the world. For a span of twenty years, this pyramid was built in the city of Cairo during
the years of King Khufu's reign. Composing of over two million blocks of stone, it reaches a height of 479 feet and holds the record of being the
tallest structure built by human hands. For 3,000 years, this pyramid has been undamaged and scientists believe that it is highly unlikely it will ever be
broken. Although the purpose of this pyramid is greatly debated, the most commonly accepted theory is that it was built as a tomb for King Khufu.
Up until now, scientists have believed that the internal structures of this pyramid only consisted of the Grand Gallery, King's Chamber, Queen's
Chamber, and some other shafts and corridors. However archaeologists have recently discovered a 30 meter long empty space hidden between the
walls of the Great Pyramid. This is the first additional discovery since the 19th century.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to Document C, Egypt says, that if slaves built the pyramids then they wouldn't have buried them so honorably. This evidence isn't
convincing because when someone says a country is speaking they usually mean the government, this could mean that Egypt's government doesn't want
to let other countries know that they had slaves and that they treated people like that. Another piece of evidence is that according to Document D, the

How Did The Great Pyramids Build

  • 1. How Did The Great Pyramids Build The Great Pyramid held the record for over 3000 years as being the tallest structure in the world made by people (Jarus). Today, architects and historians are still puzzled over how the Great Pyramids were built. They have suggested many different unique explanations on how they got there. Some of these theories included ramps, wooden levers, and even aliens. Although the majority of scholars argue that ramps were used to build the Great Pyramids, all credible evidence reveals that water and specifically hydraulics were used to build the Great Pyramids. Ever since the Great Pyramids were discovered many people questioned how they were built, because the method of construction for these large structures was not recorded. Different researchers ... • 2. Olmec Colossal Head Analysis In this essay, I will compare and contrast two different sculptures from two different contexts of art. The first being an Olmec Colossal head (monument 1), from the context of "Art of the Americas," and the second sculpture being ahead from Rafin Kura. The head from Rafin Kura comes from the context of "Art of Africa." Both sculptures come from two different time periods and parts of the world. They also are both made with natural materials and have their own symbolic meaning. With the help of local villagers, the Olmec Colossal head (monument 1) sculpture was discovered in San Lorenza in the state of Veracruz, Mexico in 1945 by archeologist Mathew Stirling and his wife, Marion. This head stands 8–feet– tall and weighs about 25 tons. While this is the first of many, each of the Olmec Colossal heads ranges from different heights and weights. They were also spread out along many southern Mexican cities such as La Venta, San Lorenzo Tenochtitlan, Tres Zapotes, and Rancho la Cobata. The Olmec Colossal heads were created using stone, along with reeds and wet sand for facial details so that the features were noticeable such as the eyes, mouth, and nostrils (they have real depth). ... The Nok heads and sculptures of Nigeria are made hallow, life–sized terra–cotta figures with a coiling technique commonly used to make pottery vessels (Thames & Hudson, 2015, pg.451). Nok heads were made with clay and although clay is very durable it is also breakable. However, very few sculpture have been found undamaged. The head of the figures was larger than the bodies because the artists wanted to emphasize the association between the head with knowledge and identity. The Nok head below is from Rafin Kura, sculpted in c. 500 BCE–200 CE. Like many Nok heads, this sculpture has a unique hairstyle, with three buns on top. It also has triangular– shaped eyes with holes in the pupils, nostrils, mouth, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ancient Egypt: Who Built The Pyramids What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words ancient egypt? Cleopatra? The Great Sphinx? Eyeliner? Powerful pharaohs? These are all great symbols of ancient egypt, but ancient egypt just wouldn't be ancient egypt without the pyramids. Of course it took a lot of people and a lot of time to build these immense structures, but who built the pyramids? Who designed them? And were any of these builder or architects famous? These questions are what I'm trying to answer and answer them I will. Let's start by answering the question, "Who built the pyramids?" At first it seemed like only slaves would spend so much time building something that seemed so inessential, but that's not the case. Most people voluntarily helped with the building of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well the first known architect named Imhotep, was also the most famous. He built a pyramid for King Djoser and this started the whole Pyramid fad. He was born a commoner and he was many other things as well. Such as an admired healer, sage, high priest, and advisor for King Djoser. It is believed that Imhotep worked for as many as four kings, he was famous while he lived, and even more so in death. Even though Imhotep was very famous, the great Pyramid was not built by him, and the same goes for the rest of the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid of Giza was built by King Khufu, and is the tallest of the pyramids standing at 480 feet tall. Then King Khufu's son and Grandson built the two other renowned pyramids of Giza. His Son Khafre built the second largest Pyramid which was 448 feet tall, and his son Menkaure carried on the tradition. King Menkaure who was Khafre's son and King Khufu's grandson built the smallest, and last of the Giza pyramids. His Pyramid was roughly 215 feet, the pyramids got smaller and smaller, but you know what they say the original is always the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sphinx Research Paper Can you imagine walking up and touching a strange an immense stone sculpture in the middle of a plateau? Visualize looking into the body of a lion and the head of a human. Picture seeing one of the oldest and largest statues in the world. Are you seeing the Sphinx in Giza, Egypt? The Sphinx is located in Giza, Egypt. Each day the sun rises in the east and sets in west. The ancient Egyptians were very superstitious, so everything on the western bank of the Nile River represented death to the Egyptians. It is believed that the Sphinx was a protector of the pyramids and buried people in the land because it was located on the western side of the Nile. The Sphinx is 240 feet long, 66 feet tall and 63 feet wide. Each paw is as long as a school bus, which makes you feel really small if you are standing right in front of it. Originally it had a long, braided beard (which is at the Smithsonian Museum) and a headdress, which was painted. The nose is missing but nobody knows exactly what happened to it. There are many theories about what happened, but no proof has been discovered to match any of the theories. The entire body was covered in sand until 1905. Until then, only the head could be seen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, a few stalwart Egyptologists still retain that the Pharaoh Khafre was constructed in the fourth Dynasty, an immense amount of evidence, both archaeological and geological, suggests that the Sphinx is much older than the fourth Dynasty, and was just restored by Khafre during his reign. There are no inscriptions on the Sphinx, or on any of the temples connected to it that proposes evidence of construction by Khafre, yet the so–called 'Inventory Stele' states that the Pharaoh Cheops (Khafre's precursor), ordered a temple built next to the Sphinx, signifying of course that the Sphinx was previously there, and therefore couldn't have been constructed by ... The Great Pyramid of Giza is a very important artifact to us today and in the Ancient world. The size of the Great Pyramid of Giza helped make it one of one of the seven wonders of the world. The Pyramid itself is 481 feet tall and the workers actually had to make ramps to get the two and a half to fifteen ton blocks into the higher level of the Pyramid (National Geographic). The Pyramid had 2.3 million blocks that made up the Pyramid (National Geographic). The background of the Pyramid is also a big part of why it's one of the Seven Wonders Of The World. The Pyramid was made for Pharaoh Khufu for when he died (Bower). It is the largest Pyramid ever built still to this day (Bower). The Pyramid had three burial chambers for the Pharaoh and his family. It was built between 4,000–5,000 years ago and believed to be completed in 3100 BC. It is made up of two main stones: Sarsens and Bluestones. The sarsen stones are considered the biggest stones, while the bluestones are referenced as the smallest ones. There are many mysteries of the Stonehenge that have yet to be revealed. It is a magical and allegorical monument in England. The surface area of one of the stones used in a Trilithon Horseshoe is 222.87m^2. I found the surface area using the formula, PH+2B. Finds of skeletons and burial mounds and the existence of a ceremonial route are evidence that it was used as a burial site. Another theory is that it was used as a site Celestial and Astronomical Alignments. The only evidence to support this theory is that the timings of the cermonies are significant. Lastly, there is a theory in which the Stonehenge was used as a place for healing. Many ancient societies argue that the bluestones had healing properties. Many sacred and significant stones make up the construction of the Stonehenge. The Trilithon Horseshoe is five sets of stones arranged in a horseshoe shaped pattern. The Slaughter Stone is a stone in the ground which is regarded as the entrance to the monument. The sun rises next to the Heel Stone during the summer solstice. Farmers did much of the work during the summer months when the Nile River flooded and they could not farm. Surveyors, engineers, carpenters, and stonecutters also helped build the pyramids. The first great engineer who built pyramids was Imhotep (ihm HOH tehp). He also served as an official for the pharaoh. • 12. Scribe Of The King Essay Haremhab as a Scribe of the King (acc. no. 23.10.1) is an Egyptian sculpture by an anonymous sculptor during the Old Kingdom between the years 1336– 1323 BCE. It was made during the 18th dynasty when Tutankhamun and later Aya ruled as kings. An unknown artist most probably created this three–dimensional life size sculpture in Memphis, Egypt. It is a freestanding sculpture and is 113 centimeters high and 71 centimeters wide, and is made out of grey granite. The piece depicts a Scribe to the king in ancient Egypt. Through analysis of the formal elements and other artistic techniques displayed in this piece, the observer gets an experience of how high the status of Scribes were in Egyptian culture. A main formal element used in this work is the use of lines. Haremhab is displayed sitting down in Indian style with both his legs bent and crossed over. There are clear horizontal lines all throughout the sculpture. Starting from Haremhab's head, horizontal lines define his headdress. His clothing is also structured out of horizontal lines. This rigidness can indicate that this is the skirt Haremhab is wearing. The rest of the figure has a smooth texture. The pyramids of Giza were three pyramids which were the pyramid of Menkaure, the pyramid of Khafre and the Great Pyramid of Khufu. The base of that pyramid covered fifty–five thousand meters squared. The interior temperature of the pyramid is constant and equals the average temperature of earth, which is sixty–eight degrees Fahrenheit. The outer mantle was made of 144k casing stones and all of them were highly polished and flat. They each weight fifteen tons. The corner stone foundations of the pyramid were made with a ball and socket construction, which was capable of dealing with expansion due to heat and also earthquakes. The pyramid was originally covered with a casing stone that as made of highly polished limestone. The casing stones reflected the sun's light which made the pyramid shine. • 17. The Impact Of The Great Pyramids Of Egypt And The Pyramids What makes up a pyramid? 12 lines, 5 faces, 4 triangles, 1 base, and 5 vertexes and in the case of the Great Pyramids of Giza about 2.3 million stone blocks that weigh an average of 2.5 to 15 tons. That according to the time it took to build them they would have had to place and set a stone every 2 to 2 and a half minutes. To put that in perspective some weigh as much or more than an armed military cargo truck. So, imagine dragging a cargo truck with nothing but some strong rope and some other people. Now if you're like most people you can lift maybe 100 pounds. However, the average powerlifter can lift 350 to 400 pounds and that's just lift not pack around or drag across acres of land. Now how did the Egyptians build the Great Pyramid of Giza with blocks that weigh up to 15 tons with the technology they had then? It's clearly very obtuse to think the pyramids were built by the Egyptians and the Egyptians alone. The question is, who helped them? I'll tell you who helped them. It was the beings that have been erased from human history, the ones hiding amongst the stars at all this time watching us. The ones that stop by to build their structures, while casually using our resources. The ones that built Stonehenge, the Pyramids, the face on Mars, Easter island, and the ones that make the crop circles, the Aliens. The aliens have been there all along ever so subtly leaving us messages too advanced for us to understand helping the hard workers build their so called "sacred structures". Were the aliens just being neighborly trying to help or did they have more incentive? The aliens had more than enough incentive to help build these structures, especially the pyramids. They took advantage of the Egyptians need for a sacred place to bury their kings and the obtuse triangle formed by Orion's Belt. They lined up the structures with the stars of Orion's Belt to create the energy column. Then, they created a complex tunnel system, so no one could ever find their transporter and then they left through the triangular column that forms between the pyramids and Orion. Only to be able to return or communicate at night when the column reforms. Who do they communicate with, you may ask? The governments, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A major conspiracy theory has begun to float around claiming that aliens helped build the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza. In "Did aliens Build the Pyramids?" season 1, episode 10 of The Worlds Strangest UFO Stories, Jason Martel states that he believes humans could have had the man power to build the pyramids but, the knowledge on how to build them had to come from somewhere else. Other theorist believe that humans during this time period were nothing more than primitive beings. Eric Von Daniken, another interviewee in the episode, states that he doesn't believe that architects could come right out from the stone age. There are even theorist who believe they can speak to the aliens about the pyramids and their purposes. In "Did Aliens Build the Pyramids?" Lyssa Royal Holt, the acclaimed intergalactic medium, speaks to the interviewer as Sasha, her alien friend who communicates with her spiritually. She states "in ancient days my fore fathers came to earth. We were seeking another place to colonize". Many theorists feel strongly about the wonders of the world and how they couldn't have possibly been made by humans alone. The Great Pyramid Of Giza Giza, an area located southwest of what is now known as Cairo, is home to one of the most astonishing and mysterious feats of architecture ever assembled, The Great Pyramid. Located approximately 5 miles west of the Nile River near the city of Cairo, Egypt, The Great Pyramid is part of a larger complex called the Giza Necropolis, which also houses the Great Sphinx, and two smaller pyramids. It is said to have been built by the enslaved citizens of Khufu, second ruler of the 4th dynasty, and son of Snefru. Although archaeologists have since disproved that theory. The pyramids are said to have been built to house the deceased bodies of the pharaohs after they have transitioned into the after–life. However, there is no evidence of this being the case. There are many questions surrounding the Pyramids of Giza, some of which, might not ever be answered. Subsequently, archaeologists, engineers, scientists and Egyptologists have been able to provide some very logical theories to try and answer these questions. Built between 2589 BC and 2504 BC for pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Pyramids of Giza are the only ones of the original structures of the Seven Wonders of the World that still stand. There were eight major feats of engineering involved in the construction of the pyramid. The Great Pyramids : The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World The Pyramids are the most oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the just a single to remain to a great extent in place. The largest of the three pyramids at Giza, known as the Great Pyramid, is truly an astonishing work of engineering. It was built over a twenty year period. Some believe that it was built by slaves, but this is not true. One hundred thousand people worked on the great structure for three months of each year, during the Nile's annual flood when it was impossible to farm the land and most of the population was unemployed. The pharaoh provided good food and clothing for his workers, and was kindly remembered in folk tales for many centuries. The sides are oriented to the four cardinal points of the compass and the length of each side at the base is 755 feet (230.4 m). The faces rise at an angle of 51Вє 52' and their original height was 481 feet (147 m). (They currently rise 451 feet [138 m].) It was constructed using around 2,300,000 limestone blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 tons. Some blocks weigh as much as 16 tons. For centuries, the Great Pyramid was encased in smooth limestone, but this was plundered in our era to build Cairo. Old–fashioned Egyptians assumed that when the master passed on, some bit of his spirit (called "Ka") remained with his body. It is in this temporal and geographic space that a puzzling find, unique to the Pyramid Age, appeared. Tefnin's work is impressive in its detail, yet he spends little time discussing the archaeological context beyond general geographic position. Reisner and Junker, who excavated the majority of the tombs containing reserve heads, published the heads with their context. Nevertheless, neither included the heads or contexts excavated by the other. Luckily, the methodologies employed by both Reisner and Junker were ahead of their time. Thanks to their careful publication, it is possible, at least to some degree, to discuss the contexts with confidence. It consists of a gold cartonnage on top of the mummy and 100 ushebtis surrounding the body to assist during her travels in the afterlife ("Egyptian Art", 2015). Next, the inner coffin gets placed in the outer coffin with two inches to spare on each side (Roastofer, 2015). All artifacts were beautifully crafted, but I'm going to focus primarily on the inner coffin of Meret–it–es and its representations. The inner coffin was found lying on its back. It was created around 380 BC– 250 BC in the Ptolemaic Period meaning it's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting from the front top of the coffin, it has a sculpted head showing the face of the Pharaoh. It is covered in gold leaf to represent the color of the skin glowing in the sun. On top of the head is a headdress of wings and dung beetle in the center. The dung beetle placed in two places and both are to represent reviving Meret–it–es. Going below the neck is a picture of Meret–ie–es on the right dress in white asking the god to be let into the afterlife. Underneath the picture, it shows detailed patterns I believe to represent jewelry she would have worn. Moving down the body, another set of wings and a dung beetle are placed near her heart. The dung beetle is holding a circle which I believe is to represent the heart of reviving her. Next is a woman with her wings open. Rosalie mentioned that the woman would close her wings at night and open them to wake up Meret–it–es. Across the pelvis shows a dead Meret–it–es with two women on each side mourning for her. Underneath that is Thoth, god of wisdom and writing. He is using an instrument to write that her spirit may enter the next world. Towards the bottom of her feet is hieroglyphs and a man on a boat with papyrus flowers. Unfortunately, I don't know what the hieroglyphs; however, the boat represents the man taking her to the ... • 38. Great Pyramid Of Giza Research Paper Hidden Chamber Found in Great Pyramid of Giza By : Minkyung (Erin) Kim The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the seven wonders of the world. For a span of twenty years, this pyramid was built in the city of Cairo during the years of King Khufu's reign. Composing of over two million blocks of stone, it reaches a height of 479 feet and holds the record of being the tallest structure built by human hands. For 3,000 years, this pyramid has been undamaged and scientists believe that it is highly unlikely it will ever be broken. Although the purpose of this pyramid is greatly debated, the most commonly accepted theory is that it was built as a tomb for King Khufu. Up until now, scientists have believed that the internal structures of this pyramid only consisted of the Grand Gallery, King's Chamber, Queen's Chamber, and some other shafts and corridors. However archaeologists have recently discovered a 30 meter long empty space hidden between the walls of the Great Pyramid. This is the first additional discovery since the 19th century.... Muons are elementary particles that are created when cosmic rays from space collide with atoms from the atmosphere of planets, like Earth. The number of particles that had dropped down to Earth and into the Great Pyramid of Giza had lead to the scientists discover the empty space that had been hidden for over 4,500 ... • 39. Pyramids Dbq Francesca Rossi Slaves were involved in building the pyramids of Giza. Slaves are people that are forced to work for someone else and they do not get paid. In the following paragraph I will prove that slaves were involved in the construction of the pyramids by using evidence from three different docements. According to Document C, Egypt says, that if slaves built the pyramids then they wouldn't have buried them so honorably. This evidence isn't convincing because when someone says a country is speaking they usually mean the government, this could mean that Egypt's government doesn't want to let other countries know that they had slaves and that they treated people like that. Another piece of evidence is that according to Document D, the people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had been the largest man–made structure for almost 4,000 years. When the Lincoln Cathederal was rebuilt in England, it had been called the largest structure in the world. • 41. Giza Necropolis What magnificent scenery, and such a site to see. Once I laid my eyes on the pyramids I knew that my dream was coming true, and it was at that very moment. The pyramids of Egypt were built by mankind, these men used only their bare hands, stones, and copper chisels. They didn't need a phone, computer, or a handheld tablet. They built one of the most beautiful manmade structures by pure man power. Egyptian culture is also the origin of makeup. Makeup is a hobby of mine and seeing were is comes from is astounding. Giza Necropolis in Egypt is so elegant, beautiful, and has so much history. The Egyptian pyramids are located in the southwestern suburbs of Cairo. They stand near one of the longest rivers on earth, the Nile. The population is around 2.5 million. This makes Giza one of the highest populated cities in the Arab world. What makes it so popular are the pyramids. Most people there speak Arabic, English, and French. I read on Touropia Travel Experts that Giza was "Voted # 1 place to visit in Egypt." There is only one way to get there from the United States, and that's taking a plane. According to TripAdvisor.com a round trip to Egypt and back home cost $1353. Purchase a visa ... In order for it to be built in 30 years the laborers had to lay 2.5 to 15 ton blocks every 2.5 minutes. These men transported blocks that weighed over twelve ton at least 500 miles. They did not use trucks or technology. That in itself is more than a lot of people do in their entire life. I could not imagine the hard work these men went through to build their kings death palace. Khufu is one of the last Seven Wonders of the World that still stands. It stands not alone, but with two other pyramids. Those pyramids are known as Khafre which is a 471 feet tall pyramid, and Mankaure, the baby of the pyramids, stands 213 feet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
