What have you learned
from your target
audience feedback?
I gathered a lot of feed back from my peers at
school that fitted into my Target audience ranging
from the ages of 15 to 40+. The target audience
was quite a wide range so I tried to even out my
Target audience research.
I interviewed one of my actors in the trailer, ‘Mia’
who was playing the ghost and asked her on her
thoughts about the trailer.
Target Audience
Feedback
What I learnt?
Gothic Horror such as ‘The Big house’ ‘Female Protagonist’
‘Candle light’ ‘old nursery rhymes and children’s toys.’ All of
these elements were really effective but I also tested and
challenged the stereotypical elements of the Gothic Horror film
as it is traditionally supposed to be set in the Victorian times
for it to be as effective as it can.
But I decided to challenge this and broke that stereotype of all
horror trailers being set in Victorian times as I have set mine in
modern day using modern props such as Mobile Phones and
Cars and modern clothing. I learnt that keeping to the main
conventions of the Horror Genre was effective but by basing
them in modern day was really effective.
This audience feedback opened my eyes to an error that I
probably wouldn’t have spotted and probably wouldn’t have
changed and reminded me of the importance of checking my
work. It also helped me become more aware of creating
symbols for when certain characters enters the scenes for
example the voice of Prim saying, ‘I don’t want to go to the
mad home’ was repeated before every time I showed The
Ghost.
Changes I Made…
I also learnt that when you interact
with your target audience, they can
help you to improve your product
and give your ideas on how to
make your piece better. This was
the case for me when I had put up
the drafts for my Poster, Magazine
cover and the rough- cut of my
Horror Trailer. Connecting with my
target audience through social
media platforms such as YouTube
and Twitter definitely helped me.
For example, I had uploaded my
video and I personally felt that it
was good, but a member of my
audience commented and said
that some of my had left visible
black spaces.
