The Importance Of Applying For High School
Highschool so far has been three years of over–laziness and stupid activities for this slacker. It has
been three years and I still haven't been able to get myself in order with my grades and those grades
have caused stress that I am not able to handle so it just gets ignored. Applying for college has
always seemed so far away and now that the time is already here it has my head spinning as if my
brain is doing backflips. It has been a lack of motivation that led to all this unpreparedness and
confusion about how to apply or even where I'd want to apply to. I have received letters from small
colleges in unknown cities all the way to offers from Stanford and Harvard and there just seems to
be too many choices for it to be as easy as

The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
Have you ever heard of the short story "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury? Well I have and one possible
theme in this short story would be that don't let electronics take over you and your life. This story
was written in the 1950's about the future and what it would be like. The story focuses on the house,
and the main character bought for the children. The house has every machine you can think of, a
shoe tier, shoe shiner, and many other different machines. The main characters are George the
father, Lydia the mother, and Wendy and Peter are the children.
In the start of the story you start with the parents in the Nursery. The Nursery is like going into a 3D
box with realistic images right before your eyes. The author supports my theme with how he uses
descriptive words and explains what is happening in the story. The mother was thinking that the
Nursery was a different from when they first got it, and over time you start to see it really has. This
connects with my theme because when they were describing how the Veldt has changed, it was also
was connecting to how the kids has changed as well. Like this quote "George, I wish you'd look at
the nursery. Whats wrong with it? I don't know. Well, then. I just want you to look at it, is all, or call
a psychologist in to look at it. .. It 's just that the nursery is different now than it was. All right, let 's
have a look." Once you get into the story, you start to get to see the problem with it and how much
the kids love this

Personal Narrative: A Woman
As I lay awake in the hospital bed I can hear them speaking. I can hear them and I can sense them
but I can not see them. My body will not move although I try with all my might. Ever since the
accident I haven't been able to open my eyes or move my limbs. The doctors don't realize that I can
hear them, that I know exactly what's going on. Every time they come in the room I listen to their
banter. One of them is a man and the other is a woman. THe door always squeaks open and they
rush in, immediately wondering what hey should do to me next or where they should move me.
Today was no exception as they scurried in fast and began their discussion as usual. "I can't believe
this patient is still in that coma" spoke the female in a rather gentle ... Show more content on

That I would feel everything' I want to scream out to them but nothing comes out my body just rests
asleep. "Why do I even need an operation in the first pace?" All of a sudden the young woman's
voice begins to escalate as she seems worried about my well being, thankfully. "She's been in this
coma for how long? We have absolutely no idea when she's going to wake up and there's no need to
take any risks here. We'll wait for the anesthesiologist and go through the entire process as planned,
there should be no rush". I felt more than thankful for this rational woman. The sketchy attitude of
these people was beginning to freak me out and I had no way of stopping anything. "There's no way
we are letting the hospital spend extra money on all of these things when the process is simple and
easy, the patient won't feel a thing and we get payed". "This isn't going as well anymore" I thought
to myself, the woman who was once strongly against this procedure seemed to be feeling much
more lenient. I became increasingly Frustrated and all I could do was hope for the best. "YOu can

Personal Narrative: You, A Chicago Kid
You, a "Chicago kid" as a good friend keeps telling me, are going to have a big change in your life.
That sounded like I was some cheesy fortune cookie but it is true. You have decided to go to the
suburban area and go to that school full of white people. Oh and do you remember that lady who
thought you came from another country when you went with your mom? Yep, that's the high school
you are going to. Anyway, check out this sacred wizardry that I have discovered to get good, or at
least, decent grades in a middle school that took steroids. Study PLEASE. You are actually a smart
student but you don't know it. Also, did I mention that you are really lazy? In middle school you
really didn't have to worry that much, but when a test comes out in high school you either wing it or
you crash and die emotionally, there is no middle ground. If you fail a test you will be laying on
your futon bed, crying out your eyes, and struggling with your sleep while mom is nagging you on
studying more. Unfortunately, your first few days of school will be at your high expectation Asian
mom's house. Then here is another tip, don't forget to read! You must read; you should play video
games after work. (You are probably rolling your eyes right now.) ... Show more content on

Well, I bet the school won't allow you to swear a "Ship ton" of words out in class, but there are
people who can actually relate to you. It is not just one blonde girl who had some horrible parental

and kind of a geek it is an immensely important necessity to find a good group of friends in lunch
and at least one friend in each class. Or else, you will be socially

Scott Truehart My Greatest Fear Analysis
My Greatest Fear Scott Truehart My greatest fear is not really a fear as much as it is something that
just irritates me. It is called misophonia. It happens when someone makes an oral sound such as if
someone is chewing, breathing, sniffling, etc. It just aggravates me to no end, and it makes me feel
super uncomfortable. My sister always chews with her mouth open ,which doesn't help my situation,
and sometimes I swear she does it on purpose because she can and she knows I hate it. Whenever I
tell her to knock it off, she always does it louder and more exaggerated than before. Plus, my mom
does it to me as well. I believe it is because of the squishing and snapping noises. It also makes me
displeased when other people are eating by me when

Gender Equality Rough Draft
Gender Equality Rough Draft
Personally we will not always find equality everywhere. This can include the work place. For as
long as time men and women have not been treated fairly. I think that we can eventually make the
wage gap nonexistent, and we can live in a world where we are all equal. I believe that we can
eventually fix the wage gap but for now it is there. The wage gap is a gap between men and
women's average pay. Right now the wage gap is women's eighty cents to the man's dollar.I do not
understand why one gender is so much greater than another In the workplace. I don't even
understand why one person would think they are better than another by judging their appearance,
gender or anything by the looks or rumors of someone else. I believe that you need to meet someone
before you judge them. I do not believe that everyone is born equal because some people are born
rich and some are born poor. There may be some very unfortunate things in a person's life or they
may be very lucky. We should not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some things may need to be like this including clothing, but having gender oriented toys and
movies is laughable. I think that if we took the genders off of things we buy at the store that don't
need to have genders. I think that soap is just soap and I will use it no matter what gender it is used
for, and maybe many other people think that it is stupid also. I think that women should not be
stereotyped for taking longer in the morning than men just because women looked a certain way and
woman should be in skirts and men should wear pants but in reality if it were switched people might
start to freak out . I think our appearance really doesn't matter at all and we freak out when
something happens that is just a little bit not normal and anybody should be able to express
themselves and people need to be more open minded to new

Response to Hunter S. Thompsons Ferar and Loathing in Las...
Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a travelogue of sorts, due to the blurred
lines between fiction and non–fiction, which deeply explores the status of the American Dream
during the early 70's, specifically 1971. Thompson states this purpose within the first three chapters
of the book in the line, "Because I want you to know that we're on our way to Las Vegas to find the
American Dream." (F&L pg 6) Although Thompson states in the beginning of the book that,
"Our trip was different. It was a classic affirmation of everything right and true and decent in the
national character. It was a gross, physical salute to the fantastic possibilities of life in this
country..." by the end of the book he comes to the conclusion ... Show more content on

Las Vegas represents the exaggerated and most extreme trends in American society, such as instant
gratification, hypocrisy, greed, excess, and the belief that you need to be lucky to go from nothing to
something, while New York represents the ideals of moving up in society, charm, and opportunity.
#2:
"Allow me to introduce myself...I'm a man of wealth and taste. Sympathy? Not for me. No mercy
for a criminal freak in Las Vegas. This place is like the army: the shark ethic prevails–eat the
wounded. In a closed society where everybody's guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world
of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity." (F&L pg 72)
In Horatio Alger's American Dream, there is a clear hero character, who succeeds through bravery
and honest ethics. On the other hand, in Thompson's work, the people have this "shark ethic" of
feeding on the wounded or the poor, in which everyone is guilty. Instead of working hard in order to
move up in society, people resort to stealing, and taking advantage of the people below them. Even
our protagonist, Duke, has flawed ethics himself and is more of an anti–hero than a hero.
#3:
"Especially here in our own country–in this doomstruck era of Nixon. We are all wired into a
survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled the 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's
trip. He crashed around America selling

15th Century Rafts Research Paper
"Remember: Stay in the raft!" Louis, a medium–built man reminded our tour group as his matted
mane swept across his chiseled face. The tour group consisted of my family of five (from a small
town in northwest Minnesota) who were up in southwest Idaho for a sun–drenched summer family
vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the
1,000–mile–plus distance, we appeared to be part of the same family tree, all with our sweet latte
hair glistening in the sun. The branches especially extended when we had our picture taken in our
black, ridiculous wetsuits and our blaze–orange helmets. Finally. It was finally time for us to
venture this water–rushing obstacle.
Earlier that day we arrived one hour before our planned departure. A beaten–up boxed bus, rustier

Bumps and bruises emerged from these 15th–century rafts (probably the same ones Christopher
Columbus owned). While looking like a sixth–grade project, the black patches worked like Band–
Aids patching up the mustard rubber base. The rafts comfortably held eight people, even with the
extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream & Onion chips, the 12–pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit
were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent
items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our
instructor frequently reminded us. The rafts will remain sturdy enough to ride across the jagged
rocks, yet flexible to maneuver through the rocky maze as flawlessly as an Olympic gymnast. The
sturdy structure was meant to keep our white–water adventure as safe as possible.
After about 45 minutes of intriguing instructions, we finally departed. I hopped into the raft as I felt
the cold water seep through my water shoes. Once everyone was secured into the raft and life vests
bolted on, we headed down

Life After Death: Cirque Du Freak By Darren Shan
In the book Life After Death by Damien Echols, Damien shares multiple personal journal entries
from when he was in prison. They range from stories about his childhood to what life is like in
prison. Within these stores, there are many unique quotes. One I find interesting is from page three
when he is talking about the type of people he wants to read his book. He states, "I want to create
something of lasting beauty, not a grotesque freak show exhibit" (Echols, 3). When thinking about
this quote, one of the first books to come to mind is Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan. Although
these books have nothing in common, it makes you think about what kind of person people believe
residents on death row are. Most people probably view people in that

First Day Of Class: Rhetorical Analysis

Today was the day that the Professor Armstrong explained the class to her students. I could not
believe my ears of all of the work that we have to do to receive a good grade in her class. I was
astonished to hear that we will need to do seven Rhetorical Analysis (RA) papers and seven unit
projects. I understood that going to a university was a whole other level then going to college, but I
could not believe that this was going to kill me by the end of the semester. The RA papers had to be
a topic from the Disabilities Studies Quarterly website. We needed to summarize the paper about the
author facts and if she should include it in her future classes. It had to be 2 pages, well–written, and
needed to be turned in to the website called turnitin.com.

They said God created us with free will. He made us free to choose what we can do with our lives.
The only thing we can do is respect the ones who wished to end their lives. I sometimes see the
world as a dark and negative place, I sometimes still do, and some thoughts do pass my mind. But
let us continue with the question before hand. I know death is not an easy subject to talk about, and I
know it is a life that will disappear from us. But I also understand if you don't want to keep on
suffering with pain without any hope you can get cured. For example: What is someone is
terminally ill? The pain is sometime too much to handle and without any hope of getting better,
sometimes it might be better to just end it. You don't want to burden your family emotionally and
financially. I know I wouldn't. I was happy with my life and I want them to keep my happy self in
their memories rather than them seeing me the way I am now. Talking about this subject is never
easy and ending a life is worse, but I do believe there are some cases that it should be acceptable to
just end

Annotated Bibliography On The Ocean
Annotated Bibliography At the beginning of this project, I decided I wanted to study the natural
phenomenon of the ocean. I knew that the ocean contains an abundance of unexplainable things, but
I did not know what exactly I wanted to study in depth. As my studying went on, I decided to focus
on the ocean's compelling traits that affect humans and the land we call home. Do the increasing
population and human's daily habits interfere with the ocean? Is the ocean changing, because of
global warming, or does it just seem like it because of the rise of studies and the new information
that has been exposed? Waves, being the part of the ocean that most common people deal with,
create many disrupting and potentially dangerous threats to citizens. ... Show more content on

Science has proven this because of the Earth's mass production of carbon dioxide, we have caused
the oceans to rise dramatically. And because of the accelerating rise, the world needs to prepare for
the mass destruction it could cause. Large cities on the coasts will have to spend billions of dollars
to stop the waters from intruding. This source helped as it informed me that yes the oceans are
changing and changing quickly. This makes humans come to the conclusion that we have to adapt to
the oceans. Roberts, Callum. The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea. Penguin Books,
2013. The book The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea covers lots of information about
the seas past, future, and current impact. In this book, Roberts shares how the organisms in the
ocean have been affected in the last few decades by the way society has advanced. He believes that
the oceans have been negatively impacted and the waves, winds, and currents have a part in that as
well. The winds/currents have been altered by the weather pattern and caused a setback in the
oceans, affecting the ecosystems as well as the organisms. He concludes the book telling us how the
ocean serves us and how we should respect it and want to help. This novel helped tremendously as it

Karibou The Blue Unicorn Short Story
Karibou the Pink Unicorn It was a dark scary stormy night. A teen boy and girl were headed home

the boy. "I'm fine Uariah," I say, "it's just that, you know my older brother, they told me the legend
about Karibou the Pink Unicorn. You know the one with supposedly the blue unicorn. The one
where there is a drunk guy and his girlfriend. The gets stabbed by Karibou. Anyways I've been
scared of the dark ever since then" "It's only legend. You shouldn't be scared." said Uariah. "I know,
but the made it seem so real." Suddenly there was a noise right in the bush by Aella. "What was
that?" I asked. "What was what?" asked Uariah. "That noise." "Oh, probably just a rabbit of
something." "No, it sounded bigger than a rabbit Uariah!" She started to cry and leaned over on
Uariah's shoulder. "Hey, it's okay we are almost home. See." I looked up from his shoulder. He was
right we were about 300 yard away from our houses. Again there was a sound. Not a rustling in the
bushes this time, but a scraping on a tree. They held each other as tight as could be. All of a sudden
a creature jumped out of the bushes, right in front of the couple. They fell to the ground and looked

The Importance Of Education In High School
"Failing is Great!"
1 One quality that almost every teenager shares is that they all attend high school. If high schoolers
are anything like me, considering I am one, they most–likely have had a mental breakdown due to
the stress of their classes. Many claim that this stress is unnecessary while others believe that it is a
crucial experience for the soon–to–be adults. One must consider where a high school's difficulty
standards should be and learn the perks of the different standards. To ask if classes are too hard, to
scrutinize if they aren't difficult enough– that will lead to an answer. Ultimately, one needs to decide
how education should function in order to be most beneficial for the student's future. Considering
the following, education in high schools should clearly be challenging

life – began to slip away as I entered my junior year of high school. Because I had never been in a
position like this before, panic overwhelmed me. The control freak freaked.

Personal Narrative: It Is Necessary For Transgender People
I believe that it is necessary for transgender people to be able to transition safely. Whether it be
social, physical, or emotional transitioning, it is important to do so safely and to have unshakeable,
unconditional support along the way. It is important to have people who support me and who love
me and who will not gainsay my identity.
Throughout my childhood, I believed I was some sort of "freak show"–that it wasn't "okay" to feel
different from what I was assigned at birth. I felt abnormal and subhuman. I did not know that being
transgender was real. Going into my adolescence, I began to deny myself in invalidating ways. I
tried to dress in a more feminine manner; wearing high heels and skirts and wearing low–cut tank
tops and whatnot. No matter how hard I tried to force myself into the gender I was assigned at birth,
it never worked. I ended up feeling more depressed and less like myself. Eventually, I settled down
and embraced it–I bought myself more masculine clothing, began wearing compression shirts, cut
my hair short, and advocated for my preferred gender pronouns at school and at home. Even though
it has been a tough battle, I am slowly becoming more and more comfortable with my transition
with the help of supportive people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Standing Tall
The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is
about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional
career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school
and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly
read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or
sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the
odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him
disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering
his third year as a tight end and special team's player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a
promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven
against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after
a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change
Kevin's life. After taking down the opposing player Kevin was left in the ground motionless and not

Identity In Romeo And Juliet
Who you are
There are so many different people around the world and we can connect with experiences we go
through. Just like people we can connect many books by a common theme. Finding the common
themes in a variety of books is important because it teaches us that even across time many people go
through the struggle we see today. One of these themes is identity. Identity is important because it
defines who you as a person, how you act, and how you think. Identity is hard to find in yourself
because there are so many events from your life that shape our personality. There are many versions
of "us" in everybody, so your friends identify you differently than you would yourself. In August
Rush and The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One example is shown in the play of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet when Romeo finds out who
the girl, he danced and fell in love with, is. After dancing, kissing, and falling in love Romeo gets
the courage to ask the nurse who she was. To his shock, the nurse tells him that she is Juliet Capulet.
A Capulet. "She is a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe's debt." (1.5.117–118). He called
her an enemy, after finding out her family history, even after getting to know her for a while. Juliet's
last name shouldn't identify her as his enemy. If Romeo loved her as he claimed, he should be able
to see past her family. Another example is shown when Juliet wishes Romeo wasn't a Montague.
She knows that based on his family history, her parents will never allow them to be together. "O
Romeo, Rome! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and Thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be
but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet." (2.2.33–36). Juliet's parents don't know Romeo

No Laughing Matter
The Human League and the citizens of the world had an official name for where I lived and
worked–Circus City. The League took great pride in redesigning things, advancing them, making
them novel and ostentatious. Of course Circus City had a lot of off–the–record monikers as well.
Freakville. Cirquetopia. Circus World. The Least Greatest Show on Earth. The Pit of Curiosities.
And my personal favorite–The Big Top. Nonetheless Circus City was the official title of the place,
along with the motto "Preserving the past, promoting the future." That was a total crock of shit if I
ever heard one. I guess it all hinged on what one thought the future should look like. If one were
looking for a cheerful and gleaming megalopolis where all of society's complications had been
resolved through the intelligent and unexpected presentation of equal parts scholarship, knowledge,
and kindheartedness, then I guess they'd be out of luck. Nevertheless if one's idyllic future was an
expansive, detached city with widespread crime, unchecked transmutation, and treacherous odd
magic and science, then I suppose they would be right at home. Name's Tom Foolery. I'm a clown.
Or what the normal people had designated 'Homo fossor' or human clown. There were many new
classes of 'humans' in Circus City. From the fire–breathers, acrobats, freaks, contortionists, clowns,

Test Anxiety In High School
During my first year of high school, I faced an enormous challenge, which was test anxiety.I have
always felt nervous about exams of any kind beforehand. However, in high school, it increased
dramatically because of how much a test can influence your grade. This became very frustrating
because the day before a test, I will freak out and think that I have forgotten everything about the
upcoming exam. I will choke and feel paralyzed, such as not being to think anything. I absolutely
had to find a solution to this problem due to the stakes on the line.
My first step towards reducing my test anxiety was to figure out, why do I get test anxiety. I
searched for the reason why and learned that test anxiety is common. Not only affecting teens, but

Skate Boarding
More Respect for Skater Freaks
The wheels of the board grind across the asphalt pavement, carrying its rider across the parking lot.
His loose clothes rustle in the breeze, and his hair flies around his face until he puts on his baseball
cap to control it. In one fluid movement, he pushes on the back of his board, curls his front foot, and
leaps into the air. But the board seems to have a mind of its own and tangles itself in his feet.
SMACK!! The skater's arm rakes across the pavement as he hits the ground–"road rash." The boy
gets back up, returns his cap to his head, and continues to skate with hardly any hesitation. Skating
is not a safe and sheltered hobby like collecting stamps or baseball cards; it requires ... Show more

Lee answers most of my questions since Eric is constantly distracted, between cleaning up and
goofing around with fellow employees.
When it comes to his priorities, skating comes before his health, but school comes before skating.
When he falls and gets a cut or the dreaded "road rash"–like carpet burn only on asphalt–he doesn't
stop to get a Band–Aid or some peroxide for it. Instead, he gets back up and continues skating. Pain
seems to mean little to him and other skaters. Both he and Eric insist that they would break
something before seeing a doctor about it. However, when it comes to school, that takes priority
over skateboarding. "Because skating isn't going to take me anywhere, it's just a hobby. It isn't like a
career or anything. And even if it was, I'm not that good." Although Lee firmly insists that he does
have some sort of future plans, he refuses to share them with the rest of us sitting around.
As for short–term goals, that is to say, what are Lee's goals as a skater? "To learn as many tricks as
possible. To learn something new every time, so long as it looks good!" A trick (a skating move)
doesn't have to be all that difficult to perfect; it just has to look good. And just exactly what does he,
or any other skater for that matter, do when he pulls off a great–looking trick on his board? "Hope
the hell I can do it again so someone will see me! 'Cause no matter what anybody says, that's what
every skater wants to

Max Kaine In Rodman Philbrick's Freak The Mighty
In Rodman Philbrick's "Freak the Mighty", it shows the main character Max Kaine and his friend
Kevin Avery are pictured as social outcasts. This is because Max is looked at like his father who has
a reputation for crime, also Max is quite big for his age and not looked at as intelligent. Kevin on the
other hand is nearly a exact opposite he has been cursed with a horrible case of dwarfism but has a
gifted mind, of quite possibly a genius. Max and Kevin made their world better because they
showed us that even though people can be looked upon as different or incomparable they can
contribute to the world as well as anyone else can. Max showed us this by taking it upon himself to
make a great friendship with Kevin which shows courage and determination.

Personal Narrative: The Trail
When you parents tell you not to do something do you just do it anyways. Well I do and this time I
think I learnt my lesson. It all started on a normal Saturday and we were gonna go on a hike, but
none of us wanted to go somewhere so we just did it at home. We got our bags and water ready and
busted for the trail. I thought it was gonna be a normal day and we would all have fun, but I got
proved wrong. The trail itself is about three miles and a couple of extra steps, but with the surprise
we only walked a mile of it. My Mom was talking the whole way down the trail it got annoying fast,
but I just kept walking with no smart remarks. We came upon where the trail splits into two roads
and didn't know which one take. "This looks familiar",my

Personal Narrative: Moving Into A Dorm
Moving into a dorm was something I thought would be the hardest thing to get used to. Especially,
when I'm such a clean freak and not knowing the person who I'll be rooming with can cause some
concerns with me. It was like the first month of school, he did everything he was suppose to do. He
took out the trash, cleaned the bathroom, and made sure everything was in the right place. Now, he
doesn't care anymore. I'm basically stuck cleaning our whole dorm while he just sits there on his bed
watching me do everything. There was a time that I almost decided to switch roommates.
One of my favorite thing to do is to eat, so that means most of my money goes to eating out. I have
a friend name Jessica, who is Indian, and the only thing she eats is chicken. So, basically my food
options are limited. I'll say most of my money goes to Kickin Chickin, and there was a time that I
went there five times a week. My favorite places to eat so far is CO, ... Show more content on

Music Appreciation, I'm doing well right now with a C. I'm doing a lot of extra credits, so I think I'll

the most work out of all my classes. I think 70% of my time goes into writing all his essays that he

Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep'
Have you ever felt a relationship you had just did not work out? Adele, a Grammy award–winning
artist, is known for her popular love songs that express heartbreak, admiration, and many more

famous songs such as, "Someone Like You" and "Hello". One of the most popular that is showcased

Correspondingly stating individual differences by applying idioms in the text, Adele's song shows a
new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain while contrastingly Motion City
Soundtrack's song reveals a tone that is longing. The lyrics in "Rolling in the Deep" say, "See how I
leave with every piece of you. Don't underestimate the things that I will do." The speaker is shows
to be unaffected by the relationship and he/she is trying to show the past lover how easily he/she can
walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution and gives off a
tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling of confidence the speaker has
gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could do better without his/her past lover. The
figurative language not only helps explain the major difference from the longing "My Favorite
Accident" expresses but it also helps to add on to the theme that relationships do not always work
out and that could be for better or for worse. In contrast, "My Favorite Accident" states, "I can't
swim in the silence of your skin–skin please let me in." The idiom indicates the speaker and the
lover may not speak any longer and the speaker is desperate to speak to his/her lover again. As
mentioned before, the text reveals a tone that is longing. With the desperation that is indicated

Peer Pressure In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Many people struggle in their teen years. High school peer pressure and pressure for their future is
bombarding them every day. Teens also mix in their "love" lives. Yes, some relationships are good,
but some are bad and parents can see the bad path their child will take by dating a certain person.
Parents know who is good for their child but, they should not force anything onto their child. I
believe that parents should be able to prevent teens from dating certain people, not choose. ` In the
famous Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, Juliet deals with some of the stress and pressure. She
thinks that Romeo is right for her. Even if he is, her parents see bad in him. Her parents confront her
about the bad and the future with Romeo. Things start to get ugly when, her parents force Paris upon
Juliet causing her to freak out more. Juliet says "O, bid me leap, rather than marry Paris (act 4, scene
1, line 79)", Meaning she would rather die than marry Paris. When her parents tell her no to Romeo
and automatically tell her to marry Paris, it's too much on her causing the reactions. This shows that
parents should prevent and not choose. When Juliet was forced to marry Paris, she found a way out

Unethical, immoral travelling 'freak shows' such as the Ringling Brothers from the 1800's now cease

Midnight is a young lady who I met at night school whom smiled and waved regularly, she always

she didn't like when people touched her stuff she extremely hated doing chores. When she was a
child she was a control freak and did not make friends easily. Since Midnight did not get out the
house much she invested her free time reading and coding words. Her favorite day was Thursday
because she knew it was close to the weekend. If she had a chance she would travel back to the 60's
and dance to classic music. Midnight enjoyed making potions and wanted to go to school for
chemical engineering . She hacked into a computer system so she could stay 24 forever and through
vampy Halloween parties and soon won the lotto, she was too impatient to take a Uber so she

change soon. Since she was everlasting she decided to jump off a high rise with a miserable ending

it's broken for form. This maintains the history of the piece it's distraction by accident or on purpose

Finally, when in battle Sam never shows of defeat or fear as it would worry the children and allow
for them to lose hope in the situation. When Caine had taken over the power plant, the book stated, "
'I have the power plant, that's obvious,' Caine said. 'Stupid of you to lose it, Sam.' Sam had no
answer to that" (Grant 322). This shows that even though Sam had lost control of the vital power
plant that they had been fighting for, he did not respond with helplessness. He held his ground by
not giving into the fear that Caine had wished to be spelled upon him and his army of children. The
children were not able to feel this fear because they felt if Sam stayed strong the rest would follow.
Not only is Sam courageous, he is also a leader. First, when electing a person to be in charge of
Perdido Beach kids generally looked to Sam to be the mayor. This is because before the FAYZ, Sam
was known as School Bus Sam since he saved peoples lives when a school bus that he was on
crashed. His ability to act quickly and make decisions that other people would find to be too
difficult makes him a good leader. Also, Sam acts like a leader in that he wants to be a good role

In the Macbeth movie that Patrick Stewart played in, the feast seemed dark, the room was dark

having Macbeth's face blown up in the background reminded me of a similar picture of Hitler, and
while I think of this Patrick Stewart also reminds me of a dictator. Meanwhile, in the Seth
Worthington movie it was bright and more colorful. The background reminded me of a vampire
house because of all the candles. Patrick Stewart played Macbeth perfectly in my opinion after
reading the actual novel. He lived up to my expectations and visions that I was having while reading

Genetic Freaks: An Analysis

deal with these genetic freaks after filming had finished proved tough as our group had to work
together to come up with a consensus on what to do.
Before beginning this activity, I felt confused. I was not sure about the whole situation. For
example, how dangerous were these characters? This feeling changed to me being fascinated
because I was interested in what my student colleague's thoughts were about this situation. It was
evident that they felt engrossed in this activity as well because everyone was contributing and had a
say.
It occurred to me that after completing this activity that I am a person who always tends to think of
the worst case scenario, instead of viewing the positive outcomes in a situation. I decided to pick the
option where we ship the genetic freaks to an inhabited island for 60 thousand dollars. My reasoning

Epidemiology Of Job Stress And Health
A nonfiction paper that influenced me the most is the article written by Norito Kawakami and

Evidence and Future Direction". Since I was a young adult, I have always heard and known about
the "karoshi" epidemic in Japan, however, this topic has never caught my attention until my ex–
manager pulled me aside one day and had a conversation about of how worried and concerned he
was of my health due to my work commitments. This conversation happened during the peak of my
career growth, my manager saw potentials in me, and I was extremely interested, satisfied, and
motivated with my roles and responsibilities. I was his best team player until he realized that I was
working during the day with my coworkers and my teammate in the United States; while managing
a team of software developers in India during off hours, I was on the fast track to implement a
proprietary software for the Federal Sunshine Act regulation at the time. From the article, one of the
authors mentioned that working more than 10 hours a day for a long period of time is considered
stress (Kawakami & Haratami, 1999). This is stress to both my mental and physical health, whether
I choose to acknowledge it or not. During the time I read this article, I was working more than 10
hours a day for more than 3 or 4 months already. I noticed the symptoms mentioned in the article, it

The Importance Of Applying For High School

  • 1. The Importance Of Applying For High School Highschool so far has been three years of over–laziness and stupid activities for this slacker. It has been three years and I still haven't been able to get myself in order with my grades and those grades have caused stress that I am not able to handle so it just gets ignored. Applying for college has always seemed so far away and now that the time is already here it has my head spinning as if my brain is doing backflips. It has been a lack of motivation that led to all this unpreparedness and confusion about how to apply or even where I'd want to apply to. I have received letters from small colleges in unknown cities all the way to offers from Stanford and Harvard and there just seems to be too many choices for it to be as easy as ... • 2. The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Have you ever heard of the short story "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury? Well I have and one possible theme in this short story would be that don't let electronics take over you and your life. This story was written in the 1950's about the future and what it would be like. The story focuses on the house, and the main character bought for the children. The house has every machine you can think of, a shoe tier, shoe shiner, and many other different machines. The main characters are George the father, Lydia the mother, and Wendy and Peter are the children. In the start of the story you start with the parents in the Nursery. The Nursery is like going into a 3D box with realistic images right before your eyes. The author supports my theme with how he uses descriptive words and explains what is happening in the story. The mother was thinking that the Nursery was a different from when they first got it, and over time you start to see it really has. This connects with my theme because when they were describing how the Veldt has changed, it was also was connecting to how the kids has changed as well. Like this quote "George, I wish you'd look at the nursery. Whats wrong with it? I don't know. Well, then. I just want you to look at it, is all, or call a psychologist in to look at it. .. It 's just that the nursery is different now than it was. All right, let 's have a look." Once you get into the story, you start to get to see the problem with it and how much the kids love this ... • 3. Personal Narrative: A Woman As I lay awake in the hospital bed I can hear them speaking. I can hear them and I can sense them but I can not see them. My body will not move although I try with all my might. Ever since the accident I haven't been able to open my eyes or move my limbs. The doctors don't realize that I can hear them, that I know exactly what's going on. Every time they come in the room I listen to their banter. One of them is a man and the other is a woman. THe door always squeaks open and they rush in, immediately wondering what hey should do to me next or where they should move me. Today was no exception as they scurried in fast and began their discussion as usual. "I can't believe this patient is still in that coma" spoke the female in a rather gentle ... "Why do I even need an operation in the first pace?" All of a sudden the young woman's voice begins to escalate as she seems worried about my well being, thankfully. "She's been in this coma for how long? We have absolutely no idea when she's going to wake up and there's no need to take any risks here. We'll wait for the anesthesiologist and go through the entire process as planned, there should be no rush". I felt more than thankful for this rational woman. The sketchy attitude of these people was beginning to freak me out and I had no way of stopping anything. "There's no way we are letting the hospital spend extra money on all of these things when the process is simple and easy, the patient won't feel a thing and we get payed". "This isn't going as well anymore" I thought to myself, the woman who was once strongly against this procedure seemed to be feeling much more lenient. I became increasingly Frustrated and all I could do was hope for the best. "YOu can make whatever decision you want, said my only advocate, I don't care anymore, there's no need to argue with ... • 4. Personal Narrative: You, A Chicago Kid You, a "Chicago kid" as a good friend keeps telling me, are going to have a big change in your life. That sounded like I was some cheesy fortune cookie but it is true. You have decided to go to the suburban area and go to that school full of white people. Oh and do you remember that lady who thought you came from another country when you went with your mom? Yep, that's the high school you are going to. Anyway, check out this sacred wizardry that I have discovered to get good, or at least, decent grades in a middle school that took steroids. Study PLEASE. You are actually a smart student but you don't know it. Also, did I mention that you are really lazy? In middle school you really didn't have to worry that much, but when a test comes out in high school you either wing it or you crash and die emotionally, there is no middle ground. If you fail a test you will be laying on your futon bed, crying out your eyes, and struggling with your sleep while mom is nagging you on studying more. Unfortunately, your first few days of school will be at your high expectation Asian mom's house. Then here is another tip, don't forget to read! You must read; you should play video games after work. (You are probably rolling your eyes right now.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, I bet the school won't allow you to swear a "Ship ton" of words out in class, but there are people who can actually relate to you. It is not just one blonde girl who had some horrible parental issues that will stick around in lunch period (still a good friend,) especially since you are a freshman and kind of a geek it is an immensely important necessity to find a good group of friends in lunch and at least one friend in each class. Or else, you will be socially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Scott Truehart My Greatest Fear Analysis My Greatest Fear Scott Truehart My greatest fear is not really a fear as much as it is something that just irritates me. It is called misophonia. It happens when someone makes an oral sound such as if someone is chewing, breathing, sniffling, etc. It just aggravates me to no end, and it makes me feel super uncomfortable. My sister always chews with her mouth open ,which doesn't help my situation, and sometimes I swear she does it on purpose because she can and she knows I hate it. Whenever I tell her to knock it off, she always does it louder and more exaggerated than before. Plus, my mom does it to me as well. I believe it is because of the squishing and snapping noises. It also makes me displeased when other people are eating by me when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gender Equality Rough Draft Gender Equality Rough Draft Personally we will not always find equality everywhere. This can include the work place. For as long as time men and women have not been treated fairly. I think that we can eventually make the wage gap nonexistent, and we can live in a world where we are all equal. I believe that we can eventually fix the wage gap but for now it is there. The wage gap is a gap between men and women's average pay. Right now the wage gap is women's eighty cents to the man's dollar.I do not understand why one gender is so much greater than another In the workplace. I don't even understand why one person would think they are better than another by judging their appearance, gender or anything by the looks or rumors of someone else. I believe that you need to meet someone before you judge them. I do not believe that everyone is born equal because some people are born rich and some are born poor. There may be some very unfortunate things in a person's life or they may be very lucky. We should not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some things may need to be like this including clothing, but having gender oriented toys and movies is laughable. I think that if we took the genders off of things we buy at the store that don't need to have genders. I think that soap is just soap and I will use it no matter what gender it is used for, and maybe many other people think that it is stupid also. I think that women should not be stereotyped for taking longer in the morning than men just because women looked a certain way and woman should be in skirts and men should wear pants but in reality if it were switched people might start to freak out . I think our appearance really doesn't matter at all and we freak out when something happens that is just a little bit not normal and anybody should be able to express themselves and people need to be more open minded to new ... • 7. Response to Hunter S. Thompsons Ferar and Loathing in Las... Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a travelogue of sorts, due to the blurred lines between fiction and non–fiction, which deeply explores the status of the American Dream during the early 70's, specifically 1971. Thompson states this purpose within the first three chapters of the book in the line, "Because I want you to know that we're on our way to Las Vegas to find the American Dream." (F&L pg 6) Although Thompson states in the beginning of the book that, "Our trip was different. It was a classic affirmation of everything right and true and decent in the national character. It was a gross, physical salute to the fantastic possibilities of life in this country..." by the end of the book he comes to the conclusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Las Vegas represents the exaggerated and most extreme trends in American society, such as instant gratification, hypocrisy, greed, excess, and the belief that you need to be lucky to go from nothing to something, while New York represents the ideals of moving up in society, charm, and opportunity. #2: "Allow me to introduce myself...I'm a man of wealth and taste. Sympathy? Not for me. No mercy for a criminal freak in Las Vegas. This place is like the army: the shark ethic prevails–eat the wounded. In a closed society where everybody's guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity." (F&L pg 72) In Horatio Alger's American Dream, there is a clear hero character, who succeeds through bravery and honest ethics. On the other hand, in Thompson's work, the people have this "shark ethic" of feeding on the wounded or the poor, in which everyone is guilty. Instead of working hard in order to move up in society, people resort to stealing, and taking advantage of the people below them. Even our protagonist, Duke, has flawed ethics himself and is more of an anti–hero than a hero. #3: "Especially here in our own country–in this doomstruck era of Nixon. We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled the 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling ... • 8. 15th Century Rafts Research Paper "Remember: Stay in the raft!" Louis, a medium–built man reminded our tour group as his matted mane swept across his chiseled face. The tour group consisted of my family of five (from a small town in northwest Minnesota) who were up in southwest Idaho for a sun–drenched summer family vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the 1,000–mile–plus distance, we appeared to be part of the same family tree, all with our sweet latte hair glistening in the sun. The branches especially extended when we had our picture taken in our black, ridiculous wetsuits and our blaze–orange helmets. Finally. It was finally time for us to venture this water–rushing obstacle. Earlier that day we arrived one hour before our planned departure. A beaten–up boxed bus, rustier than an old tetanus nail, picked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bumps and bruises emerged from these 15th–century rafts (probably the same ones Christopher Columbus owned). While looking like a sixth–grade project, the black patches worked like Band– Aids patching up the mustard rubber base. The rafts comfortably held eight people, even with the extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream & Onion chips, the 12–pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our instructor frequently reminded us. The rafts will remain sturdy enough to ride across the jagged rocks, yet flexible to maneuver through the rocky maze as flawlessly as an Olympic gymnast. The sturdy structure was meant to keep our white–water adventure as safe as possible. After about 45 minutes of intriguing instructions, we finally departed. I hopped into the raft as I felt the cold water seep through my water shoes. Once everyone was secured into the raft and life vests bolted on, we headed down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Life After Death: Cirque Du Freak By Darren Shan In the book Life After Death by Damien Echols, Damien shares multiple personal journal entries from when he was in prison. They range from stories about his childhood to what life is like in prison. Within these stores, there are many unique quotes. One I find interesting is from page three when he is talking about the type of people he wants to read his book. He states, "I want to create something of lasting beauty, not a grotesque freak show exhibit" (Echols, 3). When thinking about this quote, one of the first books to come to mind is Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan. Although these books have nothing in common, it makes you think about what kind of person people believe residents on death row are. Most people probably view people in that ... • 10. First Day Of Class: Rhetorical Analysis 1. September 9, 2014: First Day of Class Today was the day that the Professor Armstrong explained the class to her students. I could not believe my ears of all of the work that we have to do to receive a good grade in her class. I was astonished to hear that we will need to do seven Rhetorical Analysis (RA) papers and seven unit projects. I understood that going to a university was a whole other level then going to college, but I could not believe that this was going to kill me by the end of the semester. The RA papers had to be a topic from the Disabilities Studies Quarterly website. We needed to summarize the paper about the author facts and if she should include it in her future classes. It had to be 2 pages, well–written, and needed to be turned in to the website called turnitin.com. Professor Armstrong also told us to start on our Project two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They said God created us with free will. He made us free to choose what we can do with our lives. The only thing we can do is respect the ones who wished to end their lives. I sometimes see the world as a dark and negative place, I sometimes still do, and some thoughts do pass my mind. But let us continue with the question before hand. I know death is not an easy subject to talk about, and I know it is a life that will disappear from us. But I also understand if you don't want to keep on suffering with pain without any hope you can get cured. For example: What is someone is terminally ill? The pain is sometime too much to handle and without any hope of getting better, sometimes it might be better to just end it. You don't want to burden your family emotionally and financially. I know I wouldn't. I was happy with my life and I want them to keep my happy self in their memories rather than them seeing me the way I am now. Talking about this subject is never easy and ending a life is worse, but I do believe there are some cases that it should be acceptable to just end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Annotated Bibliography On The Ocean Annotated Bibliography At the beginning of this project, I decided I wanted to study the natural phenomenon of the ocean. I knew that the ocean contains an abundance of unexplainable things, but I did not know what exactly I wanted to study in depth. As my studying went on, I decided to focus on the ocean's compelling traits that affect humans and the land we call home. Do the increasing population and human's daily habits interfere with the ocean? Is the ocean changing, because of global warming, or does it just seem like it because of the rise of studies and the new information that has been exposed? Waves, being the part of the ocean that most common people deal with, create many disrupting and potentially dangerous threats to citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Science has proven this because of the Earth's mass production of carbon dioxide, we have caused the oceans to rise dramatically. And because of the accelerating rise, the world needs to prepare for the mass destruction it could cause. Large cities on the coasts will have to spend billions of dollars to stop the waters from intruding. This source helped as it informed me that yes the oceans are changing and changing quickly. This makes humans come to the conclusion that we have to adapt to the oceans. Roberts, Callum. The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea. Penguin Books, 2013. The book The Ocean of Life: The Fate of Man and the Sea covers lots of information about the seas past, future, and current impact. In this book, Roberts shares how the organisms in the ocean have been affected in the last few decades by the way society has advanced. He believes that the oceans have been negatively impacted and the waves, winds, and currents have a part in that as well. The winds/currents have been altered by the weather pattern and caused a setback in the oceans, affecting the ecosystems as well as the organisms. He concludes the book telling us how the ocean serves us and how we should respect it and want to help. This novel helped tremendously as it answered quite a few questions I had throughout my ... • 12. Karibou The Blue Unicorn Short Story Karibou the Pink Unicorn It was a dark scary stormy night. A teen boy and girl were headed home from a party. The teen girl was clutched onto the teenage boy's arm. "Are you okay, Aella." asked the boy. "I'm fine Uariah," I say, "it's just that, you know my older brother, they told me the legend about Karibou the Pink Unicorn. You know the one with supposedly the blue unicorn. The one where there is a drunk guy and his girlfriend. The gets stabbed by Karibou. Anyways I've been scared of the dark ever since then" "It's only legend. You shouldn't be scared." said Uariah. "I know, but the made it seem so real." Suddenly there was a noise right in the bush by Aella. "What was that?" I asked. "What was what?" asked Uariah. "That noise." "Oh, probably just a rabbit of something." "No, it sounded bigger than a rabbit Uariah!" She started to cry and leaned over on Uariah's shoulder. "Hey, it's okay we are almost home. See." I looked up from his shoulder. He was right we were about 300 yard away from our houses. Again there was a sound. Not a rustling in the bushes this time, but a scraping on a tree. They held each other as tight as could be. All of a sudden a creature jumped out of the bushes, right in front of the couple. They fell to the ground and looked at the creature. • 15. The Importance Of Education In High School "Failing is Great!" 1 One quality that almost every teenager shares is that they all attend high school. If high schoolers are anything like me, considering I am one, they most–likely have had a mental breakdown due to the stress of their classes. Many claim that this stress is unnecessary while others believe that it is a crucial experience for the soon–to–be adults. One must consider where a high school's difficulty standards should be and learn the perks of the different standards. To ask if classes are too hard, to scrutinize if they aren't difficult enough– that will lead to an answer. Ultimately, one needs to decide how education should function in order to be most beneficial for the student's future. Considering the following, education in high schools should clearly be challenging 2 I was the student in the class that only received A's and possibly a B on an off day. Convincing myself that anything less than an A was unexceptable, I adapted to those ways. I was the one type of student that obsessed over the "perfect grade": the control freak. My A's – the pride and joys of my life – began to slip away as I entered my junior year of high school. Because I had never been in a position like this before, panic overwhelmed me. The control freak freaked. 3 For the longest time, I couldn't understand why I wasn't receiving my usual A's. It had been so easy in previous years. Whether it be social, physical, or emotional transitioning, it is important to do so safely and to have unshakeable, unconditional support along the way. It is important to have people who support me and who love me and who will not gainsay my identity. Throughout my childhood, I believed I was some sort of "freak show"–that it wasn't "okay" to feel different from what I was assigned at birth. I felt abnormal and subhuman. I did not know that being transgender was real. Going into my adolescence, I began to deny myself in invalidating ways. I tried to dress in a more feminine manner; wearing high heels and skirts and wearing low–cut tank tops and whatnot. No matter how hard I tried to force myself into the gender I was assigned at birth, it never worked. I ended up feeling more depressed and less like myself. Eventually, I settled down and embraced it–I bought myself more masculine clothing, began wearing compression shirts, cut my hair short, and advocated for my preferred gender pronouns at school and at home. Even though it has been a tough battle, I am slowly becoming more and more comfortable with my transition with the help of supportive people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay On Standing Tall The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight end and special team's player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin's life. After taking down the opposing player Kevin was left in the ground motionless and not responding. Kevin was carted off the field and taken to one of the nearest hospitals. After ... • 20. Identity In Romeo And Juliet Who you are There are so many different people around the world and we can connect with experiences we go through. Just like people we can connect many books by a common theme. Finding the common themes in a variety of books is important because it teaches us that even across time many people go through the struggle we see today. One of these themes is identity. Identity is important because it defines who you as a person, how you act, and how you think. Identity is hard to find in yourself because there are so many events from your life that shape our personality. There are many versions of "us" in everybody, so your friends identify you differently than you would yourself. In August Rush and The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example is shown in the play of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet when Romeo finds out who the girl, he danced and fell in love with, is. After dancing, kissing, and falling in love Romeo gets the courage to ask the nurse who she was. To his shock, the nurse tells him that she is Juliet Capulet. A Capulet. "She is a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe's debt." (1.5.117–118). He called her an enemy, after finding out her family history, even after getting to know her for a while. Juliet's last name shouldn't identify her as his enemy. If Romeo loved her as he claimed, he should be able to see past her family. Another example is shown when Juliet wishes Romeo wasn't a Montague. She knows that based on his family history, her parents will never allow them to be together. "O Romeo, Rome! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and Thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet." (2.2.33–36). Circus World. The Least Greatest Show on Earth. The Pit of Curiosities. And my personal favorite–The Big Top. Nonetheless Circus City was the official title of the place, along with the motto "Preserving the past, promoting the future." That was a total crock of shit if I ever heard one. I guess it all hinged on what one thought the future should look like. If one were looking for a cheerful and gleaming megalopolis where all of society's complications had been resolved through the intelligent and unexpected presentation of equal parts scholarship, knowledge, and kindheartedness, then I guess they'd be out of luck. As all the adults disappeared, kids began to develop powers that could prove to be deadly. Food is running short since there is no way get food into the FAYZ wall, a solid barrier that surrounds to area. When Sam sends kids to retrieve food that was left in the agricultural fields, worms named Zekes attack and kill one of them. Tensions grow as people who did not develop powers grow resentful to those who have. When Caine had taken over the power plant, the book stated, " 'I have the power plant, that's obvious,' Caine said. 'Stupid of you to lose it, Sam.' Sam had no answer to that" (Grant 322). This shows that even though Sam had lost control of the vital power plant that they had been fighting for, he did not respond with helplessness. He held his ground by not giving into the fear that Caine had wished to be spelled upon him and his army of children. The children were not able to feel this fear because they felt if Sam stayed strong the rest would follow. Not only is Sam courageous, he is also a leader. First, when electing a person to be in charge of Perdido Beach kids generally looked to Sam to be the mayor. This is because before the FAYZ, Sam was known as School Bus Sam since he saved peoples lives when a school bus that he was on crashed. His ability to act quickly and make decisions that other people would find to be too difficult makes him a good leader. Also, Sam acts like a leader in that he wants to be a good role model to the kids of the town. He believes that if he wants people to follow his order he must first do what he orders of other people. When Astrid delivered news that kids were killing animals, the book states, "If he started blowing off his duties, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Essay On The Movie Macbeth During the scene such as the feast where Macbeth hallucinates Banquo's body at the dinner table, he reacts and starts to freak out and the guest that were with him were watching as well. Banquo appears invisible to them. While Macbeth is having his tantrum because he sees Banquo, Lady Macbeth steps in and points out how he has visions and how the others should just ignore it. However after Macbeth finally gets to contain himself, the apparition of Banquo appears again and Macbeth restarts his outburst in front of everyone. In this scene Macbeth, Lady Macbeth are present. During this scene it is mentioned that Macbeth will go see the witches the day after to see what the future has in stored, however in the Seth Worthington movie that didn't happen at all. Actually one of the witches came to see Macbeth naked while he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Macbeth movie that Patrick Stewart played in, the feast seemed dark, the room was dark while there was this one light shining bright. It reminded me of a Horror movie. Everyone either had uniform or a tux on and it made the dinner seem very tense and awkward. I should also mention that having Macbeth's face blown up in the background reminded me of a similar picture of Hitler, and while I think of this Patrick Stewart also reminds me of a dictator. Meanwhile, in the Seth Worthington movie it was bright and more colorful. The background reminded me of a vampire house because of all the candles. Patrick Stewart played Macbeth perfectly in my opinion after reading the actual novel. He lived up to my expectations and visions that I was having while reading the text. Lady Macbeth seems over exaggerated, she was portrayed as someone who is very pale, dark, and evil. Victoria Hill played Lady Macbeth very calmly like she sort of made Lady Macbeth seem like a person who is very easy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Genetic Freaks: An Analysis Imagining that we were in a future age, our class was told to make a decision about what to do with some genetically modified actors who were made to become monsters. They were created for the purpose of acting in a horror film. Choosing one out of five different options about how we would deal with these genetic freaks after filming had finished proved tough as our group had to work together to come up with a consensus on what to do. Before beginning this activity, I felt confused. I was not sure about the whole situation. For example, how dangerous were these characters? This feeling changed to me being fascinated because I was interested in what my student colleague's thoughts were about this situation. It was evident that they felt engrossed in this activity as well because everyone was contributing and had a say. It occurred to me that after completing this activity that I am a person who always tends to think of the worst case scenario, instead of viewing the positive outcomes in a situation. I decided to pick the option where we ship the genetic freaks to an inhabited island for 60 thousand dollars. My reasoning for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was thoughtful in the way that I did not want to euthanise the freaks or toss them out on the streets to fend for themselves. But I was also careful in the same way in that it may have been a risk to society if I train them for useful employment or let them live their lives. I realised that in my life, I tend to think of worst case scenarios immediately, as I am an anxious and stressed individual. When I miss the bus, I straight away make up conclusions that I am going to fail my class, or when I do not get an A on a test, I immediately question whether or not I should do nursing. Now that I have the knowledge that I do this, I can attempt to improve my thinking to be more positive about my outlook on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Epidemiology Of Job Stress And Health A nonfiction paper that influenced me the most is the article written by Norito Kawakami and Takashi Haratani titled "Epidemiology of Job Stress and Health in Japan: Review of Current Evidence and Future Direction". Since I was a young adult, I have always heard and known about the "karoshi" epidemic in Japan, however, this topic has never caught my attention until my ex– manager pulled me aside one day and had a conversation about of how worried and concerned he was of my health due to my work commitments. This conversation happened during the peak of my career growth, my manager saw potentials in me, and I was extremely interested, satisfied, and motivated with my roles and responsibilities. I was his best team player until he realized that I was working during the day with my coworkers and my teammate in the United States; while managing a team of software developers in India during off hours, I was on the fast track to implement a proprietary software for the Federal Sunshine Act regulation at the time. From the article, one of the authors mentioned that working more than 10 hours a day for a long period of time is considered stress (Kawakami & Haratami, 1999). This is stress to both my mental and physical health, whether I choose to acknowledge it or not. During the time I read this article, I was working more than 10 hours a day for more than 3 or 4 months already. I noticed the symptoms mentioned in the article, it was similar to what I was experiencing so, I dug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
