Legalization of drugs is an increasingly hot topic in today's society. It is one of that needs vast advancements in research and treatment for addicts to

James Q. Wilson, author of, "Against the Legalization of Drugs," was the first Senior Fellow at Boston College's Clough Center for the Study of
Constitutional Democracy and Distinguished Scholar in its Department of Political Science. In his essay, Wilson portrays his stance on being against
legalization of drugs and speaks of figuring out how to win the war on drugs and "not send up the white flag of surrender." Wilson explains the
historical aspect of not legalizing heroin in 1972 and health deterioration along with the number of deaths to heroin assisted in decreasing the number
of heroin users in the United States. Wilson gives perspectives from the stance of legalization and why it would not have worked and will not work

Also, it did not succeed because many people were dependant on alcohol during that time because of the depression and the people were very down
and upset because just taking care of yourself was hard much less if you had a family it was nearly impossible to take care of all of them because of the

"Cannabis should be legalised."
To a large extent I agree with this statement; cannabis should be legalised. I do feel, that legalizing cannabis would help resolve many of our country's
problems and difficulties, for example street–crime or burglary indirectly related to drugs. However I also feel that it could cause other types of
problems if people don't understand the effects of it. To many people, they see cannabis as a dangerous and damagingdrug, however the effects of
cannabis are sometimes not as bad as alcohol or other legal drugs.

Many people know cannabis to be a drug with the side–effects of paranoia, memory loss, anxiety, confuses reality and non–reality, addiction, makes
you lazy, depression, orientates everything etc. So it is not a surprise that not many people want to legalize it, however 87% of people who take
cannabis have never had any of these effects, and 84% of people say they wouldn't take it even if it were legalized.
Despite this, the religious attitude toward illegal drugs and even legal drugs, affects many people. None of the six major religions permits followers
to take illegal drugs. Some small groups within them may for specific reasons. But the vast majority of believers think that taking such drugs is
inaccurate for many reasons; they believe that taking anything that has a negative influence on the body or mind is wrong, and some religions also
believe that disobeying the law, or government, would be false, because God established it.
Jews, Muslims and Christians (apart from Rastafarians and the Ethiopic Coptic Church) are strongly against taking illegal drugs because they believe
that God has give your body to you as a gift; 'Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.'– 1 Corinthians 6.19. Meaning destroying it would be
disobeying God. Buddhism is also strictly against taking drugs, as said in the fifth precept, 'Abstain from anything that causes intoxication.'

The questionnaire and interview was chosen over other methods of data collection because of the time and cost factor. It is usually cheaper and faster.
However, since information was only gathered in one community, this hindered my project to reflect views and opinions of other parts of the country.
The design of the questionnaire had too many close ended questions thus the respondent was unable to express his thoughts to any extent that have not
been pre–empted or not considered by the researcher. A copy of the questionnaire and interview can be found in Appendix on page Problems were
also encountered in the process of the interview. Some questions asked could not be answered due to the fact that the interviewee was too ashamed to
disclose such information and also it was too painful for him to issue remarks as to why he

The consumption of drug has been done in all societies for ages, but with the pass of the time it has changed the characteristics of the
consumption. This situation is because the influence of social factors. Now days, our society is infest with this issue "DRUGS". The use of most

MARIJUANA: in some states this drug is legal, only for medical use. This is the 2nd most popular drug with the youth. Made up of you seeds,
flowers, stems and leaves made from the Cannabis plant.
AMPHETAMINE: A type of drug which increases energy but decreases you appetite. Treats narcolepsy and some forms of depression.
HEROIN: A highly addictive drug. It is white, odorless, bitter crystalline compound that is derived frommorphine.
ECSTASY: Each tablet has a different effect. Usually Ecstasy is taken morally but, it can be snorted or injected.
TOBACCO: Tobacco is dried leaves from the Tobacco plant. Normally it will be used in the cigarette form. It can also be used in cigars, pipes, chewed

COCAINE: White powder which can be smoked, sniffed, eaten, or injected. The person who is using Cocaine feels a powerful urge that makes them
feel over confident or even invincible. MAGIC MUSHROOMS: The magic mushrooms come in many different forms. It is made out to psilocin and
psilocybin. You take this drug by eating it. The amount you take will vary on the effect.
LYSERGIC ACID DIETHYL AMIDE: LSD is one of the biggest mood changing drugs. It is found from a fungus that is grown on rye and other grains.
