2. Types of Name
• Q, NME, CCM – Acronym
• Hip-Ster, IndieVidual – Compound
• TOTP, Rolling Stone, Drowned By
Sound- Phrases
• Kerrang, Base, Wire, Vibe Connotative
3. • The word Kerrang is created by the sound of a
guitar or a bang. When you say the word it
makes you think of loud crashes and rock music
in general.
• The graphology of the word is in black and white
and is distressed lettering/font which indicates a
certain amount of screeching or loud explosive
songs.
4. • The phase Rolling Stone makes me firstly think of Rock Music.
I think this is because of the word Stone and Rock and
extremely similar and it just makes you think of hard hitting
music. However we know Rolling Stone is more than just then
a music magazine. It is a chart and a reputation booster. This is
the magazine that all the biggest artists want to be featured
on and your are nothing without a double page spread and a
in depth interview of your troubled life without it.
• The graphology of Rolling Stone makes it eye catching and
stand out as it appears to be 3D. The drop shadow really adds
more feature to the title as the red and black colours
symbolise dominance over the other magazines.
5. • NME stands for “New Music Express” which is titled so because this is
exactly what this magazine delivers.
• The acronym is extremely effective as it says what it does but also if you
say it quickly it sounds like “Enemy”. This works incredibly well with the
magazine because even if people do not know what “NME” stands
for, they could still understand what the magazine represents before they
even look past the front page.
• The title also uses the colours red and black which connotes with power.
These colours combined with the white stroke really makes the title stand
out.
