Essay about The Arrogance of The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
The Arrogance of The Lie
The Lie, written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., is a story that stands as a mirror to reflect the ugly image of a condescending faction obsessed with grades
and numbers, not actual learning. Even though it took place years ago, the sickening mind frames still exist in some of today's people. They are
namely the "elite group" or middle to upper class families. In the story, Doctor Remenzel is obsessed with Eli having a high standard of excellence,
Eli getting special treatment because he is part of the higher group, and for those reasons, Eli is ashamed of himself, and terrified of telling his father
and mother that he failed the entrance examinations. All of these things are examples of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another flaw of Doctor Remenzel that mirrors flaws in the condescending faction is the idea that Eli should get special treatment merely because he
is of the "elite" or "higher" group. This does not show in the story until the end. In fact, the Doctor completely contradicts himself the entire time.
Sylvia Remenzel is first to bring up the idea of giving Eli any sort of special behavior. Doctor Remenzel harshly declines the idea. An example of this
would be when Doctor Remenzel says, "'Let me tell you in no uncertain terms...you are not to ask for anything special for Eli–not anything.'" The end
of the story is when the doctor does just the opposite. Once he finds out Eli did not make it in, he thinks he can get Eli in by talking to the Board of
Overseers, who happen to be friends of his or his father's. Doctor Remenzel believes Eli should be automatically accepted

My First Generation Of A Doctor
First, many first generation students come from a household where both parents obtained less than a highschool education. These parents grow up with
an unclear plan and future placing their child at the same disadvantage. In other words, parents of these particular students may not know how to
orientate their child into pursuing a brighter future."My folks would say that they wanted me to go to college and be a doctor, but i dont know how
seriously I ever took that; it seemed a sweet thing to say, a bit of supportive family chatter, like telling a gangly daughter she 's graceful (Rose, 6)This
quote shows that Mike Rose 's parents lacked the ability to push their son into wanting to become a doctor let alone any other career of his
choice.Instead parents tell their child to aim for something better since they failed to do it.Therefore, placing a sense of obligation on the student and
replacing their dreams with their own. Also, many parents want their child to earn a degree in a particular profession. Now, this could take many
students to grow into.frustrated individuals without any idea of what step to take next;lacking motivation and discipline the child has a hard time
finding direction in life.
Second, another big challenge first generations students face is the lack of guidence. In other words, the students need a helping hand in the new
chapter they are about to encounter in their life. The student may not know the time frame to apply to college, the required steps into

Personal Narrative: My First Surgery
My first surgery. On March 21th 2017 I had went to the hospital for very bad stomach pains that has been happening for 2 years now. No doctor have
figured out what was wrong with me. So that day when I got to the hospital they did a whole lot of testing on me. They had kept me overnight to do
more testing the next day. So on March 22nd 2017, They had found out from the testing that my intestines were twisted and neededsurgery. On March
24th 2017 I had my very first surgery. I was so scared since it was my first surgery and of course my first one had to be an emergency surgery. When
the doctors came in to tell me to say goodbyes because I was about to go back, my heart just started to race because I was scared that something was

When I got back to the surgery room I was talking to the doctors as they were putting my epidural in my back. Then after they got that in all I
remember is seeing all these doctors looking down on me waiting for me to fall asleep. What they were doing during surgery was they are going to
move all my intestines around and take my appendix out. The are going to more my large intestines to one side and my small intestines to the
other and the reason why they are going to take my appendix out was because if I were to have my appendix burst they would never know because
my appendix would have been in the wrong spot. When the surgery was over I stayed 8 more days so that they could watch me and make sure
everything was going ok. 2 days after surgery they had taken my epidural out and oh my I was in so much pain because I could actually feel things.
Like they weren't numb anymore. Anyway after those 8 days were up and I had gotten to go home. When I got home, I wasn't allowed to go to
school for a month because I couldn't walk much. So my mom took off work as much as she could so that she

Character Analysis: The Devil Thought He Had Her
The Devil Thought He Had Her There was once a 14 year old Cali girl who never thought she was like any other girl. She appeared to be a fighter, but
deep inside she's also a very loving person. Her name was Jamika Meadows but everybody called her Mika. Mika was the type of girl that never
really had a steady home. She wasn't disrespectful, but she stood her ground and didn't have time for any games being played. She wanted to be like
everyone else but her lifestyle effected that to happen.
She was born in California but moved to West Virginia because of her life style. Jamika was placed in a type of home that made her feel
uncomfortable. Because of that, she never really had a good mother figure. Unlike other kids, Mika was abused and raped ... Show more content on

She cried for a couple days and for the rest of the days, she stayed to herself in her room. She knew she was going to have to tell someone else besides
Ms.Jones. She went to her doctors appointment to see how far along she was and was so nervous she was shaking the whole time. As the doctor get
everything together, she looks around the room and her tears began to fall down her face. The baby doctor, Ms.Cocktrial, starts to ask her about
why she looks so dismal. Jamika tells her about her lifestyle. The doctor starts to do the tests on her and the results didn't look so good. Sad to say,
she appeared to be 2 months pregnant. I say that its sad because she have been abused and raped since then. She was concerned about it, so she
asked the doctor to gone and continue her check up. The baby was going to be fine, but she was the one that should be worried. For her to be so
young, she have a lot to go through. After that was all over with, she starts her new school in Harvard, Illinois. Never really going to school on a

Personal Essay : Basketball And Basketball
Growing up, the only thing I looked forward to was playing sports throughout high school. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball in the rec
league. It was my favorite thing to do, I loved being active. I was on a traveling basketball team in 5th–6th grade which was a transition from leaving
rec sports to traveling with my friends. This is when competing against competitive teams from different towns started. In 6th grade, I was asked to
play on a traveling volleyball team with a group of older girls. It was a privilege to get to play with them and be coached by experienced coaches. I
learned what to do, when to do it, what not to do and everything in between about volleyball and myself. At the time, I was looking forward to start
7th grade because that's when all the sports and traveling as a team started. I played volleyball in 7th grade with my classmates and towards the end
of the season, I hurt my right foot. I ended up with tendinitis and stress fractures. I didn't get to finish out the season because I was in a walking boot
for two months. I was hoping to be better and ready to go by basketball season. Basketball started and my foot continued to get worse, I ended up on
crutches and didn't get to play basketball. My foot was finally healing by the time track started.
I decided, even though I hate running, that I would give track a try because all my friends were doing it and what didn't kill me would only make me
stronger. I actually got to the point where I

Personal Narrative: My Special-K Bar
"It's a go," she told me while she vibrantly danced into the kitchen to make her famous Special–K bars. I wondered to myself how she could be so
selfless, especially after working a 12–hour shift. I followed her into the kitchen and helped her toss the ingredients together. After a little more
dancing and singing, the bars were completed to perfection. Before she could even cover the bars with a lid, the rest of the family came trotting in, and
before we knew it, the bars disappeared. I call this famous Special–K bar baker my grandma (sometimes Grams), and she is truly the most astounding

Grams finally agreed with her family that it was time to get the cough checked out. Following an X–ray, the doctor diagnosed Grams with phenomena,
and she was sent back home with antibiotics. A week later, the cough and back pain were only getting worse, so she went back in. The doctor
proceeded with an MRI, and it revealed that a malignant cancer had originated in her lungs and had already spread into her spine. We had embarked
on a journey that none of us were ready for. I wanted to put blame on the first doctor who failed to notice her cancerous symptoms. I often wonder to
myself how he could have missed it. Would Grams still be alive if the first doctor found it? I truly don't think so, but the question still perturbs me.
Being the naГЇve child I was, I thought some chemo and radiation would do the trick. Grams followed through with the treatment, but the hospital
stay and painful sickness was not how she wanted to live for the rest of her life. During this time, I quickly realized the severity and harsh reality of
cancer. I admired my grandma's strength and cordiality through all of this. She continued to joke around and her laugh, along with her spirit, failed to
fade away. Her positive attitude helped our entire family to remain strong. Our family decided hospice would fit Grandma's wishes, and Grams agreed

The Importance Of Becoming A Doctor Never Crossed My Mind
Before college and even after my freshmen year in college, I never valued the importance of helping other people. Back then, I used to think that no
matter how hard we try, there will still be people who need our help. And to be honest, the thought of becoming a doctor never crossed my mind,
until the car accident that occurred during my sophomore year that put me in a coma for two weeks and took away my brother's life. Being so close
to death has not only taught me that life is so precious, yet fragile, it has also made me realize that this life is not all about me. Fast–forward to today, I
still feel thankful for being alive every day and the time I spent in the hospital really helped me realize that it doesn't matter if we can't help everyone,
but what does matter is the people that we were able to help. After I returned to school, I decided to participate in various volunteer activities to help
underprivileged people, a thing that I never was able to bring myself to do before. It is also when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, hoping that I
might be able to ease the pain of other people.
During the summer after my sophomore year in college, I decided to participate in a program by the United Nations that provided clinical assistances
to a small village, called Tayo in Cambodia. On the first couple of days, I assisted the doctors with the patient's medical history as well as any relevant
information that might help them with their diagnosis. As I get used to

Personal Narrative: I Am Racist
Everyone says "that won't happen to me," but that's what I thought. The whole journey started about 4 years ago. I woke up one morning and I
didn't feel like myself. I had this gut feeling that something was wrong. I didn't know what, but I knew something wasn't right. I got in the car and
started driving to my doctors office in Portland. He called me back into his room and said, "What can I do for you today?" I then said, "I'm not sure
what is wrong but I've been having a little pain and I can't keep any food down." The doctor then checked me out, took tests, and then pretty much
told me that I was a crazy old lady who was imagining things. Even though that doctor didn't believe me, I knew something was wrong. I went and
tried to get other doctors to believe me, but like my doctor, no one did. After a couple days of pain and no one believing me, I then went to my
daughters house and all of us headed to the Jay County Hospital. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the size of our old bathroom. There were only two rooms and it was amazing how much was in each room. One of the rooms had a bathroom, shower,
kitchen, and basically your everything. It was everything you needed in a living room. I even had my own hi–fi, VCR, T.V., and computer. Even

that's not the best feeling in the world than I don't know what is. Finally, after coming home from working either a 12, 14, or 16 hour shift, I get to

The Doctor Taylor 's Case
The doctor requests Taylor to go see the patient in room 1. The doctor Taylor would be working with today was from Boston. He fits the
stereotypical attributes of someone not just from Boston, but from up North period. The attitude, the snap in every word spoken, and the lack of what
appeared to be happiness on his face. The very first patient she encounters is a 47 year old female that was complaining of pain in her uterine area.
Before Taylor could even get a sentence out, the patient informed her that the doctor had already seen her and that she was going home. However, she
didn 't mind Taylor running an assessment seeing as how it would provide great practice to the new student. Taylor begins her assessment and starts
with the basics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from that, wondering who gave her the credentials to question a doctors assessment of a patient that had no significant findings... or so he

and missed this crucial finding. "C'mon paramedic student, let's determine your accuracy on your diagnosis with no prior experience," barks the
doctor. The doctor walks into the room and begins palpating the woman 's abdomen. Suddenly he stops and looks at Taylor in a state of disbelief.
You could see the attitude wash from his face, and turn into nervousness. "Taylor you were right, call CT and tell them we have a patient being
sent their way." The doctor tries to speak as calmly as possible to the now panicked patient, "ma'am we have found what we believe may be a mass
on your uterus and we want to get images to find out exactly what it is and what our best route of treatment will be." Taylor gets her ego stroked
because it is her first shift and she caught something the well experienced doctor missed. The patient is sent upstairs to CT to get the mass imaged to

How Have Technology Changed Over Time
Technology and healthcare are two of the most developmental topics in the twenty–first century. Both will continue to change each other for the better
to help make humans potentially live forever. Others believe that technology is inevitably changing how our healthcare is practiced, and that
technology could be improving our lives to help us live forever. Nevertheless, there are others who feel that healthcare should stray from the newest
technology, because it is not beneficial for our society.
Humans possessing the ability to live forever may seem like a lofty goal to achieve. Yet, the question is what do humans have to do to their bodies to
become immortal. As a generation now, we certainly do not know what distance is going to take to create... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more advanced we become in as a society the more it is added for our daily existence. The doctor should be able to use knowledge learned from

human element is important. The human element is what started healthcare in the first place. This factor could possibly get lost the more and more
we evolve into technology. If we have to become part bionic or Though technology can be highly useful situations, there is always a possibility of

nurses or x–ray techs because of computers can do mounds more work than a single human. Therefore, fewer companies will hire real humans,
creating a decline in the amount of jobs available. In addition, another considerable concept is that to be able to make healthcare more effective and
be able to bring it anywhere is that it all has to stay consist. For all our healthcare services to be used it has to be the same worldwide. In the same

Extra Credit Better: A Surgeon's Notes on Performance
Chapter 1: On Washing Hands
Mr. Gawande starts his literature on washing hands. He introduces two friends a microbiologist and an infectious disease specialist. Both work hard
and diligently against the spread of diseases just like Semmelweis who is mentioned in the chapter. Something I learned, that not many realize, is that
each year two million people acquire an infection while they are in the hospital. Mainly because the clinicians only wash their hands one–third to
one–half as many times as they should. Semmelweis, mentioned earlier, concluded in 1847 that doctors themselves were to blame for childbed fever,
which was the leading cause of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By analyzing the patterns of injuries and treatment, other basic life–saving measures were implemented. For example, soldiers coming into treatment
were found to be without their Kevlar. When asked why? They would complain about the weight, the heat, and the discomfort. Orders were issued
that Kevlar was to be taken seriously and the injuries became less frequent. Gawande's point is that reporting is vital to diligence just as it was for the
WHO supervisor fighting malaria; these doctors recorded the details and results of each case. They understand, as Gawande writes, that "vigilance over
the details of their own performance offered the only chance to do better.
Chapter 4: Naked
The chapter is titled "Naked" and concerns the exam room etiquette that doctors and patients expect from one another and often uncomfortably tiptoe
around. There is an allusion to a movie that has the female patient separated by a dark blanket like screen from the doctor. The doctor's son who is
about six years old is the communicator. Even though they are clearly audible to each other they wait until the boy speaks to them. This is the matter of
decency. According to this literature some doctors feel uncomfortable with the whole process. There is really no

Take–Home Dose Agreement (Carry Paper)
For this form patients will need to read it over and understand that they only get one lock box for free. If they lose it they will have to pay for the next
one ($10.00). A lock box is for the patients carries, and comes with 2 keys for each side of the box. Don't lose it and take care of it.
New Patient (Initial Patient Assessment Form)
Always ask the doctors if they want a new patient before creating a new patient file. If there is no health card number for the patient but the doctor
will still see him/her do not print a label and instead just write the name by hand and leave everything else blank. (Make sure to explain to the patient
how sampling works.) Always scan in all ID a patient provides.
If A Patient Is In Jail (Jail Paper)
Call the pharmacy and confirm the patient's last dose. Fill in the last dose on the page that has been faxed over once the dose amount has been
confirmed. We can't restart a patient while in jail because they have access to an in house doctor. On weekends we are able to send a script only if the
doctor has given us permission and a signed script. (If a patient is only doing weekends make a note in the patients chart and talk to the doctor.) Other
than that there is nothing I can do.

Point Of View In William Williams The Use Of Force
The point of view in William Williams "The Use of Force" lets him cover up the brutality and sickness in what seems to be an ordinary patient
analysis. While this story contains brutality and a demented atmosphere it also contains an unexpected twist in the plot. The legitimacy of these in
"The Use of Force" relies heavily on the author's point of view and how an underlying desire for evil is covered up within a doctor's visit. William's
point of view prevails because of his diction, plot, and style. As a result of the dramatic point of view, Williams is able to hide an embedded lust
for what is essentially rape within the doctor's procedure that is "imperative" and must be done. Whence reading one can tell the opposition comes
from William's speaker who gives the reader a feeling of calmness in the professionalism of the doctor, only to later reveal the doctors true
personality. An essential character in the story is the little girl who the doctor is checking for diphtheria, although not much more is revealed about
the little girl. The point of view is also with other characters who do not contribute much to the script of the overall story. This is a removed way of
making the doctor seem like a normal professional, seeking to aide others. This is important in William's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done simply because Williams does not want to give away what he has waiting in the climax. For example, the speaker says "I smiled in my
best professional manner" hinting that maybe the doctor isn't a true professional in the way that many people think of doctor's as, and is hiding
something deeply rooted within his core. At first glance this doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, it is only when one dive's deeper into the
story that the disturbing action becomes apparent.

Daleks Research Paper
Are you familiar with the TV series Doctor Who? Many people argue about who is the worst enemy of the Doctor. Is it the Daleks? the Master? or
the Cybermen? The worst enemy of the Doctor is the Dalek. Daleks consider themselves a superior race of warriors. The idea of Daleks were created
initially by Terry Nation appearing inDoctor Who story. The Daleks became popular even to non–viewers after one year. The Daleks are genetically

Survivor: A Short Story
"Where am I? Why can't I see anything?" Anna yelled as the nurses rushed into the room. Anna just got out of surgery.
"Anna, I'm Doctor Sophie. I need you to tell me if you remember what happened."
Anna and her father lived on a ranch in a little town called Horseshoe River. Anna's father had recently bought a young horse named Survivor because
Anna had agreed to train him.
On a cloudy summer day, Anna decided she would lounge Survivor for fifteen minutes. Anna went into the paddock to bring Survivor into the stalls,
where Anna would groom him. Once Anna was done grooming Survivor, she brought him to the round pen where she lounged him. After Survivor had
been lounged, Anna put the saddle on his back, and Survivor didn't even fidget.
"Good boy, Survivor," Anna said. "I'm going to try riding you for the first time. Okay, buddy?" Anna said as Survivor nodded his head okay. She put
her left foot into the stirrup just as Survivor spooked and went up in mid–air, causing Anna to fall. She got up off the ground to try to calm Survivor
down, but Survivor kicked her in the head, causing Anna to fall to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

"I remember some things, but I don't think I remember everything," replied Anna. Anna started telling Doctor Sophie what she thought had happened.
"Are you Anna's father?" asked one of the nurses.
"Yes, I am."
"The doctor wanted me to tell you that Anna has a very slim chance of regaining her eyesight." She replied as if she were blinded with the fact that she
may lose her eyesight herself.

Physician Assisted Suicide Case Study
It was a chilly day but began just as any other day of shadowing a pediatrician. We rushed between patients in order to keep on schedule but instead of
dismissing patients early, thorough evaluation remained present. This next patient, however, was one apart from the ordinary. A father had brought his
child in to see the doctor but it was the end of the routine checkup which was disjoint with the mundane patient. It was a series of troubles his wife
possessed over the past weeks and contemplation of suicide followed by a narrative of the futile efforts of every single doctor she had seen. The end
of his child's evaluation ended in the father's insipid begging to see his wife despite the fact he was just a pediatrician and had no jurisdiction among
adults. Succumbing to the father in concern for her safety, the doctor told him to bring her in during his lunch hour.... Show more content on

With careful examination, it proved that there was a multitude of problems building on each other worsening the condition exponentially. After
comprehensively examining the problem, the doctor spoke in a soothing, hopeful voice. He explained every single detail about what was
occurring in her body and why she acquired the dilemma she is in now. More important than the diagnosis was the look in her eyes. Her dead,
beaten eyes became alive. Her posture, at first looking down, cold and defeated, altered just the slightest as her chin rose a few inches. Her door was
on the verge to slam shut and every trace of light along with it, but, the doctor was able to conjure a flame and bring the light back to the darkest
room. Although the treatments at every specialized doctor proved futile, this doctor was able to return hope to her. It was more than just a diagnosis;

New Years Day Reflection
On February 3, 2017 at 4 p.m. surrounded by his wife and 4 sons two tests were underway at St. Mary's hospital intensive care unit for brain death
certification under patient Tommie Walker Jr. As the first doctor entered and performed the test to see if brain death was finalized another doctor
needed to confirm it. Absent light reflex – cranial nerve II and III, no jaw reflex, no corneal reflex were the words that the doctors uttered, I can see
from the look on my mother's face who is a RN that its this only has two outcomes. Either way whatever the outcome I new that what he had as a family
will never is the same.
January 1, 2017, New Years Day, one of the most oldest can celebrated holidays in the world brings a lot of joy to people, new beginnings, new
resolutions, but for the walkers we found ourselves 10 years backwards in 2007, while coming home to a successful church service just to get the news
to head up to Bostford Hospital to find that my father has suffered a stroke, feeling perplexed about the situation I stayed optimistic about the situation.
" I took my medicine, I did everything right" my father said with a weary voice. I couldn't put my eye on it but something was different about him, he
wasn't putting up a fight like he normally would which concerned me but I ignored the thoughts and focused on the present situation, getting him home.
After a few days in the hospital my father was discharged and I've never seen a bigger smile on his face to go back to his house, with his walker
we got out of the jeep and step by step we made into the house, welcomed home to all of family immediate and extended he sat in his chair ate a
bite of rice and chicken, watched TV and talked to his eldest son, " It's time for you to get some rest Tommie" my mother spoke, so with his
walker he got up and step by step we took to his room. What would take a short distance that my father took many times now seemed like a
marathon to him, what was once joy on his face turned into low spirits, midway through he stopped and cried and said he couldn't do it as if he was
defeated, with the whole family to his aid we got him to his destination sat him on the bad and my brother Christian said with affirmation " Dad you are

During free time we're permitted to walk freely in an open room. The doctors often come by during this time to ask questions. Questions about
how we're doing, our mental conditions, etc. They observe and analyse us as if we're lab specimens. With plastic smiles and false friendliness,
they talk at us. I never was quite convinced of the genuineness of their smiles. It 's always bothered me how stiff and fake it looks, never faltering
for an instant, but failing to make you feel any more comfortable. Beyond their facade they conceal something much more sinister, but I can see

The Use Of Force Analysis
"The Use of Force" by William Carlos Williams is told from the first–person point of view which allows a reader to see the changes in the doctor's
mind as he transitions from professional to completely unprofessional. The doctor goes from being a professional concerned with a young girl's health
to an animalistic, pedophilic, instinct–driven person. At the beginning, the doctor goes to the patient's home where he is met with a poverty–stricken
family. The family is clean despite their living conditions. The parents are very concerned for their daughter's health as the doctor notes they are
spending three dollars on his visit to know what is wrong with her. The young girl, named Matilda, has had a fever and the doctor knows that there has

At the beginning of the story, the doctor can not help but notice the young girl's attractiveness and her "magnificent blond hair, in profusion". He
notes that her looks are those of advertisement worthy children and that her stare infatuates him. Later during "the battle" the doctor puts a phallic
tongue depressor in the child's throat to which she fought so desperately with clenched teeth she ended up breaking the tongue depressor in her
mouth and caused it to start bleeding. The doctor, instead of acknowledging that he is actually hurting Matilda, becomes furious at her and thinks
"I tried to hold myself down but I couldn't". This is a young girl bleeding from the mouth and a vision of pure terror, yet the doctor only becomes
more violent, determined and aroused by the power. The doctor thinks to himself that he knows he should have let the child be and have tried again
in an hour or so when she had calmed down, yet his instincts tell him "we're going through with this.". The doctor is fully aware that he has become
irrational and unprofessional as he thinks, "I too had got beyond reason. I could have torn the child apart in my own fury and enjoyed it. It was a
pleasure to attack her. My face was burning with it.". This is a blatant example of dominant sexual force. He justifies his feelings by saying he must

Comparison of Two Hospital Dramas: Casualty and ER Essay
Comparison of Two Hospital Dramas: Casualty and ER
This essay will compare the two hospital dramas, Casualty and ER.
Casualty is a British hospital drama. It is shown on BBC1 at 8:05 on a Saturday evening .It has been one of the biggest and most popular hospital
dramas ever made in Britain. The fact that it's lasted over ten series, has been sold to many countries around the world, and it still manages to pull in
big audiences speaks for itself. The series is set in the fictional town of Holby, and is set in the hospital, Holby A+E.

Disputes between doctors and nurses arise. The use of technical language is used a lot to make the viewers respect the doctors for what they are doing
and make the program seem more realistic. The viewers also treat them as professionals. Doctors and nurses home life often affects their work. A
doctor or nurse often has a hidden secret, which could affect his/her work. A junior doctor often disagrees with a senior doctor in a life or death
situation, sometimes the junior doctor is right, but sometimes s/he is wrong.
To be successful over a long period of time and keep the same amount of audiences, though, the writers have to develop the conventions and change
them slightly. They may make them more detailed.
This, as the popularity and ratings show for the two programmes, works and in my mind the two programmes are still as good as when they first
started, around ten series ago.
In order to pull big audiences the two programmes use fairly attractive doctors and nurses (which, in reality is very unlikely). To pull a mix of races,
the doctors and nurses, in the two shows, are of mixed race. The writers know that this will bring a bigger audience to the show. For example. If a
black doctor or nurse is used, this will attract a black audience.
I think that this is very successful and attracts a larger amount of people than it would if only white doctors

Clarus Vs Woyzeck
After reading through Doctor Johann Christian August Clarus's legal accountability on Johann Woyzeck one manages to immerse themselves in
Clarus's thoughts on Woyzeck and whether or not he is accountable for the murder he committed. Throughout Clarus's report, I received such biased
thoughts that it became hard to keep moving on. Managing to continue on with the report, it became very clear very fast that Clarus believes in an
eye for an eye, or in this case, punishment for crime above all else. This being the case it made me wonder whether or not it was just Clarus resenting
the fact he had to write this report a second time, or the fact that Clarus believes in legal accountability no matter the case. After deciding that it must be

But after reading Buchner's drama it is hard to ignore the fact that the drama and Clarus's report are two completely different ways of looking into this
case. After watching the film, I felt as if I truly got a feel for Woyzecks character when in the book elements are placed throughout that bring upon the
ideas of sanity and unsound mind. Throughout the film the main piece that stood out above just reading the book was the facial expressions that the
character Woyzeck gives, but out of all of them one rises above the rest. The facial expression was that of just a person who seemed to not be fully
aware what was going on in any scenario, as if something must be wrong in their head or at the very least, always preoccupied with worrisome
thoughts that distracted them from reality. Just by closely examining these expressions, one can take them as a response to Clarus's thoughts on
Woyzecks "state of mind" during the murder he committed. Regardless of what the producer of the film intended.
However when just examining the book by itself, one truly begins to see this "critical response" to Clarus's report. In the scene in which he is with his
military friend Andres, one gets a first glimpse at Woyzeck and the question of stable mind. "Something's moving behind me, under me. (stamps on
ground.) Hollow–you hear that? It's all hollow down there. The Freemasons! (pg. 137)" When comparing this bit with Clarus's thoughts on Woyzecks
visions of Freemasons, it is hard to conclude that it is just the fault of just high blood pressure and

early, but the preventative dentistry is the first time in good dental care.

Compare And Contrast Domotor And The Doctor's Wife By...
"Your mother wants you to come and see her" the doctor said. I want to go with you, Nick said" (Hemingway 27). Throughout Hemingway's short
stories the reader can consistently notice that Nick is very unsure of himself, and it all leads back to "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife." The
relationship between a set of parents is a structural foundation that sets the foreground for the child's behavior and personality for future years. The
child mirrors or mimics the many actions they observe growing up, adapting to perceive how certain situations should occur for the future. Overall, the
story "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife" is the base and structure for the development of the rest of Nicks life. Hemingway demonstrates the

Analysists Domotor also states that, "Silencing pain and anxiety is the central theme in 'The End of Something', which eventually makes Nick

with his girlfriend, Marjorie. Often times Hemingway uses sources of description of scenes or objects to display double meanings about a subject.
Specifically, Hemingway does this within the scene of Marjorie pointing out the old ruin. "There's our old ruin, Nick," Marjorie said. Nick, rowing,
looked at the white stone in the green trees. "there it is," he said. "Can you remember when it was a mill?" Marjorie asked. "I can just remember,"
Nick said (Hemingway 32). Prior to their date, Nick knows he's going to break up with Marjorie. In many ways, the mill resembles the young couple's
relationship. Something once structurally strong and beautiful is now a ruin of rubble. 10 years prior to the town falling apart, Hemingway described
the town as being a thriving

Personal Statement Of My Personal Experience In Nursing
In 2005 I became an Lpn and started my first job at Broadview Multicare in Broadview heights. Coming in as a young nurse was not easy , a lot of
my orders that I gave to the aides I worked with were not taken seriously. Even talking to the doctors made me extremely nervous. It felt like they
were rude and consistently rushed me off the phone. But over time I realized , I must prove myself. It's hard for a new nurses to earn respect in the
workplace.
Out of all my years of nursing, the hardest part by far were the first two months when I started nursing. I was working at Broadview Multicare it
was a new facility to me and in general a new experience to me it was my first year ever nursing. I was not familiar with the layout or how things
ran in Broadview Multicare and I didn't know anyone from the resident, the aids, or any of the other staff in the whole facility. Well except for who
interviewed me, she was nice. I was practically walking into the facility blind. After my week of training with a coworker I had the facility down, and
everything became familiar with to me,so I thought. The first major problem surfaced when I started working alone, it seemed as if everything I
learned a training in the last week with the nurse wiped away from my memory. I was far too afraid to ask for help and I didn't want anyone to think I
didn't know how to do my job properly. On top of that it seemed that I was already a problem and I hadn't even made one mistake yet. The other
nurses that were not rude it was more so they were ignoring me. Everyone seemed to already know each other and to be close and familiar with
each other so it just seemed like I stuck out compared to everybody. But I stuck it out and eventually caught on at my own pace but one day I asked
one of my nurses aids to complete her vitals and submit them to me. This was my first time asking anyone in that facility to help me and it felt
like it might be the last. She replied " No , but you can do it yourself. " I was irritated and shock too most of all, I asked her to complete a simple
task but she acted like it was something horrible. I acted like I didn't hear but this would set me behind in time. I went along and took the vitals that I
need myself,

Narrative Essay On Detroit
Detroit, many call it the worst place in America, other detroiters like myself call it home. It takes a strong person to be able to withstand all the things
going on around you. For those who know it, it's a place that has many memories that can not be erased, things that most citizens have no recollection
of, and secrets the government will never release to the public. Detroit's truths are only comprehended by a few. The drugs, murder, rape, hospital
abuse, and even corruption within the government. Many who are unfortunate enough to bear the weight of Detroit's burdens have often told stories
about their experiences. This, however, is not a review of all those stories but a personal terror. This is one that will always be in my memory and

The Legal Status Of Marijuana
Furthermore, there are other articles that gave reliable information about the legal status of marijuana. This is important to know because legal
ramifications is a very important aspect of the topic. These sources give information pertaining where it is legal and why it is not legal in other states.
The article from www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov divulged into the legal status. This thoroughly explained how the FDA currently does not approve the drug
due to lack of scientific research. It also explained how and why the drug became Schedule 1.
Finally, medscape.com contains details about the ethics of the topic. Medscape shows both sides of the story, which is more reliable than other sites
that are too one sided. Medscape explained that those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, I went onto procon.org to get some background information on medical marijuana. I learned that there were many facets to this topic. There
were legal, ethical, and medical dilemmas with legalizing medical marijuana. I also discovered that many states already have the substance legalized.
Another article where I found good background info about the risks, benefits, uses, and certification was "Medical Marijuana" by Amy E. Thompson.
After gaining some basic knowledge there were a few questions that I knew I wanted to answer. I wanted learn things like what doctor's opinions were,
where was it legalized, and why the FDA and federal government has not approved it. In order to do so, I decided to find my answers by scouring
reliable websites and articles. I visited informational websites such as medscape.com, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, drugpolicy.org,drugabuse.gov, www.fda.gov,
and jama.jamanetwork.com. Each website contained articles about the various legal, ethical, and medical aspects. From this, I learned vital information
about the topic and was able to make my decision.
Findings: From the intense research the information learned included various doctor's opinions, the government's opinions, legalization, medical
benefits, medical risks, and legal issues. First, the opinions of doctors are split because some support the idea while others oppose it. In both opinions,
the doctor believes he

Essay About The Arrogance Of The Lie By Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

  • 1. Essay about The Arrogance of The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. The Arrogance of The Lie The Lie, written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., is a story that stands as a mirror to reflect the ugly image of a condescending faction obsessed with grades and numbers, not actual learning. Even though it took place years ago, the sickening mind frames still exist in some of today's people. They are namely the "elite group" or middle to upper class families. In the story, Doctor Remenzel is obsessed with Eli having a high standard of excellence, Eli getting special treatment because he is part of the higher group, and for those reasons, Eli is ashamed of himself, and terrified of telling his father and mother that he failed the entrance examinations. All of these things are examples of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another flaw of Doctor Remenzel that mirrors flaws in the condescending faction is the idea that Eli should get special treatment merely because he is of the "elite" or "higher" group. This does not show in the story until the end. In fact, the Doctor completely contradicts himself the entire time. Sylvia Remenzel is first to bring up the idea of giving Eli any sort of special behavior. Doctor Remenzel harshly declines the idea. An example of this would be when Doctor Remenzel says, "'Let me tell you in no uncertain terms...you are not to ask for anything special for Eli–not anything.'" The end of the story is when the doctor does just the opposite. Once he finds out Eli did not make it in, he thinks he can get Eli in by talking to the Board of Overseers, who happen to be friends of his or his father's. Doctor Remenzel believes Eli should be automatically accepted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My First Generation Of A Doctor First, many first generation students come from a household where both parents obtained less than a highschool education. These parents grow up with an unclear plan and future placing their child at the same disadvantage. In other words, parents of these particular students may not know how to orientate their child into pursuing a brighter future."My folks would say that they wanted me to go to college and be a doctor, but i dont know how seriously I ever took that; it seemed a sweet thing to say, a bit of supportive family chatter, like telling a gangly daughter she 's graceful (Rose, 6)This quote shows that Mike Rose 's parents lacked the ability to push their son into wanting to become a doctor let alone any other career of his choice.Instead parents tell their child to aim for something better since they failed to do it.Therefore, placing a sense of obligation on the student and replacing their dreams with their own. Also, many parents want their child to earn a degree in a particular profession. Now, this could take many students to grow into.frustrated individuals without any idea of what step to take next;lacking motivation and discipline the child has a hard time finding direction in life. Second, another big challenge first generations students face is the lack of guidence. In other words, the students need a helping hand in the new chapter they are about to encounter in their life. The student may not know the time frame to apply to college, the required steps into ... What they were doing during surgery was they are going to move all my intestines around and take my appendix out. The are going to more my large intestines to one side and my small intestines to the other and the reason why they are going to take my appendix out was because if I were to have my appendix burst they would never know because my appendix would have been in the wrong spot. She appeared to be a fighter, but deep inside she's also a very loving person. Her name was Jamika Meadows but everybody called her Mika. Mika was the type of girl that never really had a steady home. She wasn't disrespectful, but she stood her ground and didn't have time for any games being played. • 5. Personal Essay : Basketball And Basketball Growing up, the only thing I looked forward to was playing sports throughout high school. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball in the rec league. It was my favorite thing to do, I loved being active. I was on a traveling basketball team in 5th–6th grade which was a transition from leaving rec sports to traveling with my friends. This is when competing against competitive teams from different towns started. In 6th grade, I was asked to play on a traveling volleyball team with a group of older girls. It was a privilege to get to play with them and be coached by experienced coaches. I learned what to do, when to do it, what not to do and everything in between about volleyball and myself. At the time, I was looking forward to start 7th grade because that's when all the sports and traveling as a team started. I played volleyball in 7th grade with my classmates and towards the end of the season, I hurt my right foot. I ended up with tendinitis and stress fractures. I didn't get to finish out the season because I was in a walking boot for two months. I was hoping to be better and ready to go by basketball season. Basketball started and my foot continued to get worse, I ended up on crutches and didn't get to play basketball. My foot was finally healing by the time track started. I decided, even though I hate running, that I would give track a try because all my friends were doing it and what didn't kill me would only make me stronger. I actually got to the point where I ... I wondered to myself how she could be so selfless, especially after working a 12–hour shift. I followed her into the kitchen and helped her toss the ingredients together. After a little more dancing and singing, the bars were completed to perfection. Before she could even cover the bars with a lid, the rest of the family came trotting in, and before we knew it, the bars disappeared. Grams finally agreed with her family that it was time to get the cough checked out. Following an X–ray, the doctor diagnosed Grams with phenomena, and she was sent back home with antibiotics. A week later, the cough and back pain were only getting worse, so she went back in. The doctor proceeded with an MRI, and it revealed that a malignant cancer had originated in her lungs and had already spread into her spine. We had embarked on a journey that none of us were ready for. I wanted to put blame on the first doctor who failed to notice her cancerous symptoms. I often wonder to myself how he could have missed it. Would Grams still be alive if the first doctor found it? I truly don't think so, but the question still perturbs me. Being the naГЇve child I was, I thought some chemo and radiation would do the trick. Grams followed through with the treatment, but the hospital stay and painful sickness was not how she wanted to live for the rest of her life. During this time, I quickly realized the severity and harsh reality of cancer. I admired my grandma's strength and cordiality through all of this. She continued to joke around and her laugh, along with her spirit, failed to fade away. Her positive attitude helped our entire family to remain strong. • 8. The Importance Of Becoming A Doctor Never Crossed My Mind Before college and even after my freshmen year in college, I never valued the importance of helping other people. Back then, I used to think that no matter how hard we try, there will still be people who need our help. And to be honest, the thought of becoming a doctor never crossed my mind, until the car accident that occurred during my sophomore year that put me in a coma for two weeks and took away my brother's life. Being so close to death has not only taught me that life is so precious, yet fragile, it has also made me realize that this life is not all about me. Fast–forward to today, I still feel thankful for being alive every day and the time I spent in the hospital really helped me realize that it doesn't matter if we can't help everyone, but what does matter is the people that we were able to help. After I returned to school, I decided to participate in various volunteer activities to help underprivileged people, a thing that I never was able to bring myself to do before. It is also when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, hoping that I might be able to ease the pain of other people. During the summer after my sophomore year in college, I decided to participate in a program by the United Nations that provided clinical assistances to a small village, called Tayo in Cambodia. On the first couple of days, I assisted the doctors with the patient's medical history as well as any relevant information that might help them with their diagnosis. As I get used to ... Something I learned, that not many realize, is that each year two million people acquire an infection while they are in the hospital. Gawande's point is that reporting is vital to diligence just as it was for the WHO supervisor fighting malaria; these doctors recorded the details and results of each case. A moment ago the doctors took him away, kicking and screaming. He flailed his torso around and screamed unintelligible words, but it was no use. The Use Of Force Analysis "The Use of Force" by William Carlos Williams is told from the first–person point of view which allows a reader to see the changes in the doctor's mind as he transitions from professional to completely unprofessional. The doctor goes from being a professional concerned with a young girl's health to an animalistic, pedophilic, instinct–driven person. At the beginning, the doctor goes to the patient's home where he is met with a poverty–stricken family. The family is clean despite their living conditions. The parents are very concerned for their daughter's health as the doctor notes they are spending three dollars on his visit to know what is wrong with her. At the beginning of the story, the doctor can not help but notice the young girl's attractiveness and her "magnificent blond hair, in profusion". He notes that her looks are those of advertisement worthy children and that her stare infatuates him. Later during "the battle" the doctor puts a phallic tongue depressor in the child's throat to which she fought so desperately with clenched teeth she ended up breaking the tongue depressor in her mouth and caused it to start bleeding. The doctor, instead of acknowledging that he is actually hurting Matilda, becomes furious at her and thinks "I tried to hold myself down but I couldn't". This is a young girl bleeding from the mouth and a vision of pure terror, yet the doctor only becomes more violent, determined and aroused by the power. The doctor thinks to himself that he knows he should have let the child be and have tried again in an hour or so when she had calmed down, yet his instincts tell him "we're going through with this.". The doctor is fully aware that he has become irrational and unprofessional as he thinks, "I too had got beyond reason. I could have torn the child apart in my own fury and enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to attack her. My face was burning with it.". This is a blatant example of dominant sexual force. He justifies his feelings by saying he must protect the "damned little brat" ... Casualty is a British hospital drama. It is shown on BBC1 at 8:05 on a Saturday evening .It has been one of the biggest and most popular hospital dramas ever made in Britain. The fact that it's lasted over ten series, has been sold to many countries around the world, and it still manages to pull in big audiences speaks for itself. The use of technical language is used a lot to make the viewers respect the doctors for what they are doing and make the program seem more realistic. The viewers also treat them as professionals. Doctors and nurses home life often affects their work. A doctor or nurse often has a hidden secret, which could affect his/her work. A junior doctor often disagrees with a senior doctor in a life or death situation, sometimes the junior doctor is right, but sometimes s/he is wrong. To be successful over a long period of time and keep the same amount of audiences, though, the writers have to develop the conventions and change them slightly. They may make them more detailed. This, as the popularity and ratings show for the two programmes, works and in my mind the two programmes are still as good as when they first started, around ten series ago. In order to pull big audiences the two programmes use fairly attractive doctors and nurses (which, in reality is very unlikely). To pull a mix of races, the doctors and nurses, in the two shows, are of mixed race. The writers know that this will bring a bigger audience to the show. For example. If a black doctor or nurse is used, this will attract a black audience. I think that this is very successful and attracts a larger amount of people than it would if only white doctors

After watching the film, I felt as if I truly got a feel for Woyzecks character when in the book elements are placed throughout that bring upon the ideas of sanity and unsound mind. Throughout the film the main piece that stood out above just reading the book was the facial expressions that the character Woyzeck gives, but out of all of them one rises above the rest. The facial expression was that of just a person who seemed to not be fully aware what was going on in any scenario, as if something must be wrong in their head or at the very least, always preoccupied with worrisome thoughts that distracted them from reality. Just by closely examining these expressions, one can take them as a response to Clarus's thoughts on Woyzecks "state of mind" during the murder he committed. Regardless of what the producer of the film intended. However when just examining the book by itself, one truly begins to see this "critical response" to Clarus's report. In the scene in which he is with his military friend Andres, one gets a first glimpse at Woyzeck and the question of stable mind. "Something's moving behind me, under me. (stamps on ground.) Hollow–you hear that? It's all hollow down there. The Freemasons! Throughout Hemingway's short stories the reader can consistently notice that Nick is very unsure of himself, and it all leads back to "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife." The relationship between a set of parents is a structural foundation that sets the foreground for the child's behavior and personality for future years. The child mirrors or mimics the many actions they observe growing up, adapting to perceive how certain situations should occur for the future. Often times Hemingway uses sources of description of scenes or objects to display double meanings about a subject. Specifically, Hemingway does this within the scene of Marjorie pointing out the old ruin. "There's our old ruin, Nick," Marjorie said. Nick, rowing, looked at the white stone in the green trees. "there it is," he said. "Can you remember when it was a mill?" Marjorie asked. "I can just remember," Nick said (Hemingway 32). Prior to their date, Nick knows he's going to break up with Marjorie.
