Textual Evidence Analysis
Teaching students how to provide accurate evidence from parts of stories, such as chapters, dramas,
and poems when writing or speaking about a text, and to describe how each successive part builds on
earlier sections is significantly important, because it improves the student reading comprehension
skills, which is a prerequisite for becoming a great reader. Previously, I taught my student to identify
key elements in a story to help her find the main idea and to use context clues to determine meaning of
words. However, after the lesson, I noticed my student made a poor effort to refer back to the story
when writing or talking about the story to provide appropriate evidence. In this lesson, my student will
not only summarize the story, but my student will also go back to the chapters, paragraph or stanzas to
provide accurate evidence. By doing that, my student will successfully completed the New York State
common core standard, which is Refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing or
speaking about a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza; describe how each successive
part builds on earlier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the reason, I am incorporating textual evidence in my teaching curriculum, so students could
use the meaning of a tricky words in their speech accurately. By doing that, it will improves the
student s semantic skills. This lesson teaches student to become fluent readers with acquiring strong
vocabulary, and secondly, to give students the opportunity to fully explore and manipulate words.
When students identify supporting evidence in a text, they are able to provide reasons for their opinion
based upon information they read, hear or interpret visually. Acquiring this skill allows students to
gain a deeper more profound understanding of the main idea or topic presented (PBS,

A leopard will kill its prey with one swift bite to the neck, breaking it. The largest of the leopards is
about five feet in length, with its tail adding another 3 feet and over 200 pounds. It can range from a
dark golden to a light cream color. There are also melanistic coats, which are all black, sometimes
called Black Panthers. All leopards have the dark rosette pattern, spots on their coats, although they
are not visible on the black coats. The males are generally 20 to 40 percent larger than the females. On
average, each liter will produce two cubs, each weighing only one and a half to two pounds. The cubs
remain with their mother for 18 to 24 months. There are over 20 subspecies in the leopard group and
each one is slightly different than the others. They are excellent climbers and can drag prey that is
three times their weight up into a tree to keep it safe from scavengers and other hunters. They are often
found hunting nocturnally, and hiding in the brush during the hot afternoons. They can hunt in places
with nearly no light because of their circular pupil which is capable of vast dilation. They also have a
superb sense of smell and the ability to detect movement.People usually think of leopards in the
savannas of Africa but in the Russian Far East, a rare subspecies has adapted to life in th e temperate
forests that make up the northern most part of the species range. Similar to other leopards,

France Is The Most Romantic Place On Earth

My country is France, I chose France as my country because it s capital is the most romantic place on
earth. France is located in Western Europe. The capital of France is Paris. The president of France is .
One of its most well known landforms is the Eiffel Tower. Another is The Louvre which is an art
museum. Paris is known worldwide for its couture fashion houses. Another reason I chose France is
because I ve always wanted to go there. Climate Geology France has long hot summers and cool
winters. Southern France remains balmy throughout spring which is March May and in autumn which
is September October, which are much better times to visit. Prices are also much cheaper.
Northeastern areas have warm summers and colder winters. The winters have rainfall distributed
throughout the year and snowfall likely in winter. Summer which is June August, is the peak season.
During this time it is warm and sunny across much of the country. One of the prettiest natural
spectacles occurs in Provence, which is between the last week of June and first week of August. This
is when lavender fields in The Luberon are in full bloom. The crowds return during the ski season
which is December March, packing out resorts in the Alps and Pyrenees. This offers excellent
conditions for skiing.

Essay on Ian Wilmut and the Cloning of Dolly
Ian Wilmut and the Cloning of Dolly
Definitions of creativity vary based on different people s interpretations, yet most people agree that
creative individuals produce new ideas that can completely change or invent a domain. According to
Howard Gardner, creativity is not limited to a single domain, but is unique for all seven domains.
Creativity is based on three core elements: the relationship between the child and the master, the
relationship between an individual and the work in which he/she is engaged, and the relationship
between the individual and others, such as family and friends (Gardner, 9). I believe that Ian Wilmut is
a creative master in the logical mathematical domain because in July 1996, he completely changed his

To get a cell from an adult mammal to behave like a cell from a developing embryo had long since
been abandoned at major centers of scientific research (Healy, 176). The doubt of others didn t sway
Wilmut s ideas. He used a method called somatic cell nuclear transfer cloning in order to produce
Dolly. This same technique has now been used for application of human stem cells to generate
differentiated tissues (and this same technique could also be used to clone a human from an adult cell).
Click on this animation on somatic cell nuclear transfer. Wilmut first took a nucleus from the
mammary cells of a dead six year old Finn Dorset Sheep. He then substituted the nucleus for the
nucleus of an egg from a different sheep a Poll Dorset. Next, Wilmut implanted the egg into an ewe of
a Scottish Blackface who became Dolly s surrogate mother. Five months later, Dolly was born (Wills,
22). Wilmut used three different breeds of sheep so it would be apparent that Dolly s genes did not
come from her surrogate mother nor the egg donor, but from the six year old, Finn Dorset. In addition,
in order to account for problems such as cells being in the wrong stage, or having the wrong set of
genes turned on, or having cells that are too metabolically active, Wilmut starved the cells for several
days. He then fused the starved cell with enucleated eggs. This made the DNA copying device in the
cell to stop by arresting the cell cycle and forcing the cells into

How Soda Companies Reduce The Consumption Of Soda Drinks...
After reviewing the problem it is clear that our organization cannot sit back idly and hope for the best.
Soda companies have continued to struggle with the political interference in the market. In the past
few years, nations all over the world have passed taxes on soda beverages. France passed a tax on
soda and sales dropped by 3%. In Mexico, sales dropped by 2% after a similar tax was passed. And
though the drops in sales are alarming, it is not event the biggest threat. Ultimately, the goal of the
politicians is to drastically decrease the consumption of soda drinks. Their attempt to pass these taxes
is a power play to make soda beverages viewed as similar to cigarette companies. It is imperative that
we do everything in our power to stop these taxes from occurring. So far we have been successful in
combating taxes in San Francisco and New York City. We have done this through a combination of
business and political actions. Through our research we have been able to come up with a
comprehensive list of strategies to counteract the soda tax. This list can be broken down into two main
areas, business actions and political actions. Political: The political strategies would be utilized to
strike down all efforts to pass a soda tax or any other legislation aimed at reducing the consumption of
Coca Cola products. These strategies would include political marketing, and financial donations.

Essay On Australian Migration Act 1958
Legal relevant laws:
Australian Migration Act 1958:
Australian Federal law states that any non Australian citizens who do not have a valid visa is to be
detained, regardless of circumstances for a strictly limited period designed to obtain basic information
about health, identity, security and basic information that supports a visa claim, may form a legitimate
part of a system of immigration controls, as long as the detention is subject to effective review by a
court.
The people who do not have these valid documents are generally refugees and asylum seekers who
have fled their country for their safety. They are denied the right for entrance into Australia due to the
Australian Migration Act 1958 and are put in detention centres indefinitely.
The Issue with Australian Law
Those detained may only be released if granted a visa or removed from Australia, children are no
exception to this. Detainment facilities are usually detention centres that are either in remote ... Show

The housing project has a calmer, quieter atmosphere and allowed detainees to exercise more freedom
than detention centres. What should be changed is that there should be more housing projects around
Australia to accommodate more immigrants as a much better alternative than detention centres. They
should also be more inclusive of the qualifications required to be eligible to be in the residential
housing project.
Children and their families should not be split up
In residential housing projects the children were only allowed to stay with the mother but the father
was to stay in the detention centres. This separation of family exacerbates the already fragile mental
state of families. Instead the father should be allowed to stay with their families in the housing
projects, which would be more beneficial to not only the families but the Government as it would
require less resources when they try to unite the families again.

Separate Spheres
There was no equality between man and woman in the Victorian era. The patriarchic system was the
norm and women usually led a more secluded, private life. Men, on the other hand, possessed all kinds
of freedom ( Gender Roles ). Moreover, the man was naturally the head of the family and the guardian
of family members. He was the protector and the lord. He was strong, brave and hard working (
Gender Roles ). The Victorian era was the time in which the roles of men and women were defined
more strictly than at any other time in history. The Victorians considered males and females as
Separate Spheres that met only during meals. According to Hughes, the ideology of Separate Spheres
rested on a definition of the natural characteristics of women and men. Women were considered
physically weaker yet morally superior to men, what meant that they were best suited to the domestic
sphere ( Gender roles in the 19th century ). The fact that woman was morally superior to man led to
the belief that her goal was to bear many children and maintain a home that her husband did not have
to worry about (berryofthesea). What is surprising is the fact that even though women were perceived
as morally superior, they could neither vote nor sue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Hughes, women were assumed to desire marriage because it allowed them to become
mothers rather than to pursue sexual or emotional satisfaction ( Gender roles in the 19th century ). It
was a common practice in the Victorian era that young men used the services of prostitutes, while
women had to be pure and clean until marriage. Moreover, women were not even allowed to speak to
men unless there was a married woman present as a chaperone (Hughes). The inequality is also
evident in the fact that women were expected to have sex with only one man, their husband. However,
it was acceptable for men to have multiple partners in their life (Cody

Solar System Negatives
The planets in our solar system all have their unique qualities. Jupiter has it s spot, Saturn and Uranus

specifically, people that are different. Think of the stereotypical high school, you ve got the popular
kids, the potentially popular kids, the wanna be popular kids, the bullies, the nerds and so on, so on.

The Bedouin
The prophet Muhammad, born in 570 AD in Mecca, was raised by his uncle Abu Taleb as part of the
Quraysh tribe. When he was 25, Muhammad married a 40 year old business women, Khadijah, while
living out his days as a merchant. As the state of life in Mecca could at times be overwhelming,
Muhammad discovered a cave in Hira, which he used to disconnect from Mecca through meditation.
During a routine visit to the cave, Muhammad was visited by an angel, in human form, who revealed
Muhammad as God s messenger, urging him to relay the words of Allah to the citizens of Mecca and
beyond. Concerned about the possible reaction of his fellow Bedouins, who were grounded in their

The Bedouin had little interest in conventional religion, as speculation of supernatural higher powers
did not make any impact on their difficult environment (Reading 3, page 15). Because of their harsh,
nomadic lifestyle, the Bedouin instead evolved a chivalric code, which, seeing as they were extremely
communal, stressed the importance of protecting and avenging the tribe (Reading 3, page 15).
However, this chivalric code, known as Muruwah, only encouraged bravery and selflessness within
the context of the tribe, paying no attention to universal human rights (Reading 3, page 16). As such,
there were great acts of violence committed between various tribes, who following their own special
brands of Muruwah, were obligated to defend any actions of their tribal brethren. The prophet
Muhammad, a Bedouin himself, saw that the barbarity of the tribes was not conducive to prosperity in
Arabia. In his final sermon at mount Arafat in Mecca, prophet Muhammad relayed to listeners his
message, at one point saying, every Muslim is a brother to every Muslims and Muslims constitute one
brotherhood (Reading 2, page 11). The concept of brotherhood spoke clearly to the Bedouin, as it was
inline with their cultural traditions. Because the prophet was one of them and his message of stressing
community related to them, the Bedouin bought into the monotheistic religion of Islam. Moreover,
because members of the same tribe could not fight amongst each other, Bedouins who converted to
Islam brought about peace, ending the senseless violence between each

Factors of the Jewish Dispersion
The destination of the Jewish dispersion varied especially based on the occupations of the Jews. The
actual Diaspora really took place when thousands of Hebrew elites and craftsmen were deported and
dispersed to Babylon. This occurred to concentrate the various skills of the Jewish in separate arenas
and to use these individually skilled communities for the benefit of the Babylonians. For example, as
previously mentioned the most skilled and elite Jews were dispersed to Babylon the heart of the
Babylonian empire. Thus, the better trained and more adept a Jew was, the more opportunity the Jew
had to serve for empire in higher ranks solely to meet the needs of the empire and its rulers. This
helped the empires exiling the Jews to prosper, but unfortunately created rifts and gaps within the
Hebrew community. This pattern of dispersion, which was developed by the Babylonians and used by
the Romans to scatter the Jews, allowed for these dominant empires to prosper, however, limited the
interaction within the Hebrew community and resulted in the diminishing originality and novelty of
the skilled Jews. Despite the use of the uniform dispersion pattern based on the occupations of the
Jews, the reason why Jews were exiled and dispersed varied depending on the imposing empire of the
time, which performed these actions. The Hebrew Diaspora was caused by different factors depending
on the group exiling the Hebrews. In other words, the reason for dispersing the Hebrews depended on

Hindu Cultural Beliefs
Abstract
This paper focuses on three different religions and their cultural values and traditions surrounding
death as well as the nursing implications regarding patients of various religious and cultural beliefs.
The Hindu religion focuses on reincarnation and assisting the dead to their next life. Their traditions,
such as placing a basil leaf, clarified butter and gold in the deceased s mouth, help their loved one s
spirit move on. The Islamic religion understands that the death is God s will and take part in various
traditions such as bathing the dead loved one. Buddhist religion focuses on maintaining a relationship

After death has occurred, a basil leaf, clarified butter, and a piece of gold are placed in the mouth of
the deceased so that the desire for wealth and food is satisfied (Gupta, 2011, p.254). As far as
disposing of the body, some people choose cremation; some choose a burial and some even leave the
body in the Ganges River. The funerals are very simple and elegant, which represents respect for the
deceased (Gupta, 2011). The behavior associated with bereavement is very different to western
culture. In India, Hindu family members are expected to cry and wail loudly as it is considered healthy
to have an outburst of strong emotions. Lack of loud wailing by the widow and other family members
of the deceased is considered pathological (Gupta, 2011, p. 255). It is the duty of the relatives and
friends to console the grieving family members. (Gupta, 2011, p. 255) Demonstration of respect for
the dead is done several different ways. Typically, a large photograph of the deceased person is
displayed prominently in the house, with a garland draped over the photo and a burning incense and
an oil lamp are place in front (Gupta, 2011, p.

Year 11 Shakespeare Analysis
Shakespeare, in having Julia assumes a male disguise in Two Gentlemen of Verona, plays on hose,
codpiece, and pins to emphasize cross dressing in Renaissance England. Hose, in the Oxford English
Dictionary, comes from the Old English hosa and has the meaning of an article of clothing for the leg
(OED). Similarly, codpiece refers to a close fitting hose or breeches worn by men from the 15th to the
17th century (OED). Together, both hose and codpiece serve to remind the audience of Julia s
character transformation, undergoing from a female mistress to a male page. What significant about
the word codpiece, however, is that it is a compounded word of piece, which derives from French
peece and carries a meaning of a portion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare s mention of infamy and scandalized may serve to depict the cultural attitude towards
women s travelling, for Julia, as seen in her dialogues, may be subjected to being scandalized and an
infamy for undertaking a journey, showing that women did have as much freedom as men do at the
time. According to Lucetta, it is only through cross dressing as a male page that Julia is able to travel
from Verona to Milan, without being scandalized and a public infamy, implying that a male attire
offers more freedom of action and movement than female attire does. In it will make me scandalized,
however, it is ambiguous, for it can refer to both Julia s travelling and her cross dressing. Similarly,
Journey also has figurative meaning of passage through life, implying character development (OED);
this particular meaning may point to Julia s change of attire, such as from being a female character to
a male character. In other words, Shakespeare s mention of it and journey (as in character
development) may point to Julia s cross dressing, and such action could result in her being scandalized
and a public infamy, for cross dressing disrupts the concept of gender in Renaissance England. By
allowing Julia cross dresses and travels, however, Shakespeare challenges the Renaissance customs by
allowing female

Garage Sale is an informal event for the sale of goods by private individuals, in which sellers are not
required to obtain business licenses or collect sales tax though in some jurisdictions, a permit may be
required.
Typically the goods in a garage sale are unwanted items from the household with its owners
conducting the sale. The conditions of the goods vary, but they are usually usable. The items are
displayed to the passers by or those responding to flyers, classified ads or newspaper ads.
Popular motivations for a garage sale are for cleaning, moving or earning extra money. The venue at
which the sale is conducted is typically a garage, at a driveway, carport, and front yard or inside a
house.
Items typically sold at garage sales include old clothing, book, toys, household decorations, lawn and
garden tools, sports equipment and board games. Larger items like furniture and occasionally home
appliances are also sold
Garage sale will be conducted with the end goal of raising funds to support the extension service of
NSTP. Students currently enrolled especially those taking up their NSTP subjects will be requested to

How The Pig Farming Industry Affects Our Environment
The hog farming industry has always been one of controversy when it comes to its effects on the
environment, and with the green house gas emissions a pig farm produces and the spread of disease
through swine this is with good reason. Although the truth is that the industry has come a very long
way in the past 50 years in regards to its sustainability. The pig farming industry as a whole has been
able to reduce its overall environmental impact and natural resources use by 50% in the past 50 years
according to a study done by Garth Boyd a well known researcher on environmental footprints
(Boyd). Even with the improvements made by the pig farming industry there is still a need for change
and major improvement in sustainable practices. First I will discuss how the pig farming industry
effects our environment. Although it is true a pig farm needs water and land to operate, the use of
those natural resources is not the major problem with pig farms. It is what goes in the air that is of
concern. The pig manure and the decomposition of the manure over time release three major gases of
concern, methane, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. There are other gaseous compounds that may be
emitted from decomposing manure but these three are the principal gases in emissions. The level of
emissions released by a farm will vary based on the amount of manure being managed as well as the
type of manure management system the farm has in place. Flush pit with lagoon, deep pig with below

Theme Of The Signalman And The Signalman
In Gothic Literature, writers are able to choose between traditional and contemporary. This style of
writing typically relates back to fiction that gives an atmosphere of uncertainty by featuring horror,
death, curses or the supernatural. In The Signalman written by Charles Dickens, we can depict that his
writing falls under the category of traditional gothic literature as he chooses to stress the fear of the
unknown whether it be the setting or the supernatural. On the contrary, Roald Dahl who wrote Lamb
to the Slaughter chooses to write under the category of contemporary gothic literature, as we are
introduced to a familiar setting, and common issues that arise when we face reality. Nevertheless, both

The Meaning and Use of Arithmetic
Arithmetic
(Measures the ability to correctly perform mental computations with expediency; thus measuring the
speed of mental processes. Knowledge of advanced vocabulary or more advanced learned
mathematical concepts, such as formulas, is not required as the objective of the category is merely to
test speed of the participants ability to perform mental computations. All of the answers to the
following questions will be quantitative.) Theoretical Mathematics
(Measures the cognitive ability to perform theoretical computations without numerical values;
measures the ability to recognize mathematical relationships in commonplace situations. All of the
answers to the following questions will be in term of another variable or in relationship to another
factor in the question. None of the answers will ask for a definitive quantitative answer; all answers
will be more theoretical and will test the test takers ability to recognize mathematical patterns and
relationships.) Reading Comprehension and Memory (Short Term)
A few questions will test the participants ability to recall very short passage/sentences verbatim and
write their responses into a computer based program that will calculate their performance. In order to

Tears Of Darfur
Tragedy happens every day and when it affects a large number of people, it makes headlines.
However, the world lets some of these tragedies go unnoticed. The mass slaughtering of humans
should never be overlooked or underestimated. The region of Darfur, located in Sudan, has been
dealing with such horrors as it undergoes a genocide that began in 2003. Every day, the people of
Darfur undergo conditions that most people would deem unbelievably difficult. Unfortunately, this
terrible incident does not receive the attention it deserves and is often ignored by many countries of
the world. In attempts to inform the people of the world, photographs and videos have been taken,

Service Members’ Transition to Community College Essay
Introduction
As demographics of college and university students in the United States evolve, so too must the
policies and procedures used to assist students in their pursuit of post secondary education (Radford,
2009). By the passage of educational acts such as the Servicemen s Readjustment Act of 1944 (Public
Law 78 346), the 1985 Montgomery GI Bill (Public Law 110 252), and now the Post 9/11 GI Bill
(Public Law 100 48), institutions of higher education have committed themselves not only to educate
the recently discharged and deactivated, but to address a student population with unique needs.
Student development practitioners must adapt strategies to assist the transition experience of their
military students.

Problem Statement
Under the original GI Bill (Public Law 78 346), about 4.9 million veterans enrolled in vocational and
technical training (Field, Helbel, Smallwood, 2008). According to the Department of Veterans Affairs,
Bradley (2009) surmised that an estimated 112,000 claims for benefits under the new GI Bill have
already been processed, and an estimated 250,000 veterans are expected to receive education benefits
in the next two years. Perhaps the greatest need of many returning veterans is assistance in addressing
psychological and social problems associated with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic
brain injury, or multiple physical injuries (Ford, Northrup, Wiley, 2009). While, historically,
community colleges are charged with serving those outside traditional student populations, it is
imperative that institutions of higher education recognize and plan for military and veteran student
needs.
Many combat veterans return with mental health needs that can complicate educational achievement.
In addition to specific disorders such as traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder,
combat veterans experience psychosocial disruption as they rapidly transition from the role from
warrior to that of student. (Sachs, 2008, p.1)
Focused services and procedural and programmatic adaptation can be modeled upon the experiences

In Ghobadi s cinema, we see how Kurdish are treated differently from the normal Iranian women. For
instance, their dress code is different Rojin address is exposing too much of her skin, she wears
traditional colorful clothes were on a normal occasion she is supposed to wear the black chador in
Iran. Though she covers her hair, she does so with a white headscarf, unlike the traditional Islamic
black headscarf. The film also highlights the male dominance issue in the society. The women are
married off to women they do not know, for instance, Rojin marries a man who she has never seen in
the film A Time for Drunken Horses . Moreover, women are not prohibited from singing in public in
Iran for religious reasons. This restriction is particularly restrictive to Kurdish women who are used to

extent that it reaches a point that she wants to abandon the little Riga. Moreover, she is contemplating

Puerto Rican Music as Representation of Their History and Culture
Puerto Rican music is an evolving art form that expresses Puerto Rican culture and identity. The
development of Puerto Rican music is also a reflection of their history, both being complicated by
several layers. Social, political, and economic conditions are all related to the musical expressions of
Puerto Ricans (Glasser, 8). Puerto Rican migration to the United States and the culture clash
experienced by migrants is another layer complicating the evolution of Puerto Rican music (Glasser,
199). Musical expression has been affected by every aspect of life for the Puerto Ricans and therefore
is an illustration of the Puerto Rican experience.

But with the growth of nationalist sentiment, the invasion of Cuban and North American dance forms,
the growing presence of Afro Puerto Rican popular music from below , by the late nineteenth and
early twentieth century the upper classes had positively sanctified the danza as the national music of
Puerto Rico. Overtime and in defensive reaction to rapid social, economic, and political change, the
danza became a potent national symbol (Glasser, 195).
The irony of the elite s claim to the danza is that the musical profession was not considered a
respectable occupation and was therefore only practiced by mulatos or negritos, mainly of the working

For mulatos and negritos, music was a profession that could lead to social mobility (Glasser, 58).
Many musicians were of the working class and had primary jobs to support themselves during periods
of unemployment for musical performers. Many worked as artisans, making cigars or producing

Abstract pGLO is a plasmid that contains several genes, araC, gfp, bla, and an ori of replication. E. coli
was artificially induced that became a competent bacteria when it took the pGLO DNA, so it had the
ability to have ampicillin resistance and fluoresced when arabinose was present. Two tubes with E.
coli were labeled to differentiate which tube the pGLO was added to, then through several steps the
bacteria was induced to intake the pGLO DNA. At the end, each tube was inoculated on to three
different plates that contained different substances and they were incubated then observed. The results
showed only one E. coli culture had growth and fluoresced which was the pGLO+ E. coli that was
grown on the plate with LB, amp +arab, there were only two E. coli cultures that did not grow because
the pGLO E. coli did not have the ampicillin resistance to grow in ampicillin conditions, and the rest
of the culture plates showed growth. pGLO could be used in food safety experiments done by the food
safety department that helped to identify Salmonella and Yersinia enterocolitica in pig slurry, so they
were able to calculate how long these bacteria lived in certain conditions before disinfectants were
used.

The Theme Of Money In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather
There are many themes and symbols shown throughout My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, from love
to marriages, and choices. The motif I want to analyze is the motif of money. Money is used
throughout the whole book, it used to help persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle,
and it is what caused Oswald to become Myra s mortal enemy.
Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy and
made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel describes their
lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the finest property in
Parthia. Mr. Driscoll had fast horses that made national record, and Myra would throw balls and
garden parties, where she would have the band play their music (10). Myra s aunt said that Myra had
everything: dresses and jewels, a fine riding horse, a Steinway piano , and how her uncle took her to
Ireland and had her painted by one of the famous painters there (10 11).
At a youthful age, Myra did not care about money, though she cared about love. She fell in love with a
gentleman named Oswald Henshawe, but Mr. Driscoll had an old grudge of some sort with Oswald
father, and Driscoll did not like the idea Myra and Oswald being together. Oswald had left Parthia and
went to college at Harvard; he then moved to New York and after two years he was in the position to
get married (12). Then he wrote to John Driscoll for Myra s hand in

Portrait Head Of Caligula Analysis
Portrait Head of Caligula
This bust of Emperor Caligula, was thought to have been made somewhere within Asia Minor, around
the year 40 AD. There is no known record of who sculpted this bust, and no accurate record of who it
was made for or why it was made. It was sculpted entirely out of marble.
After Caligula was murdered by his guards in 41 AD, almost all recorded statues and portraits of him
were destroyed, as well as a lot of writings that were done about him. This led to modern day
historians having to use later historians writings about him, which has led to possible inaccuracies and
bias about Caligula.

rebuilding the pantheon, and also the construction of the temple of Venus and Roma. Hadrian was also
noticeably philhellene in his tastes, which explains well his desire to make Greece the cultural capital

The Performance Of The Car Under Test
The analysis of the performance of the car under test was completed using AVL Cruise software.
Various Graphs are obtained so that the actual performance of the car can be determined. Graph 1
(Abundance) prominently shows the torque of the engine at the respective engine speed along with the
specific fuel consumption at that speed. Approximately 230Nm is the maximum torque that can be
obtained at 4200 rpm, trailed by decrease in torque for the remaining speed. A cycle run was
conducted for three different periods of cycle in which the vehicle was accelerated then hold and
decelerated for certain time depending upon the requirement of cycle. Graph 2 A shows the change in
velocity upon change in acceleration for three different cycle times. Also the shift of gears during the
period can be observed. Graph 2 B illustrates consumption of the fuel during the three different stages.
It can be noted that when the velocity was about 50 km/h the fuel consumption was about 5.0 l/h. Also
it significantly notifies that during idling the fuel consumption is 1.6 l/h. In this Graph it can be
inferred that the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of 4200rpm. Maximum fuel is
consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar, fuel consumption gradually decreases with increase
in engine speed. Graph 3 speaks about the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of
4200rpm. Maximum fuel is consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar and also between 0 bar

India does not have one consolidated Consumer Price Index, instead we have different indices for

one that measures prices changes in goods and services consumed by the rural and urban population.
We used the Consumer Price Index as opposed to using the price data from the Wholesale Price Index
as the later measures wholesale price changes whereas we are mainly interested in studying variations
in retail or consumer s purchase prices for the purpose of this project. Hence, we obtained price data
from the Labour Bureau of India website. The price index we used was Consumer Price Index for

Essay On Budgeting
Did you know Google AdWords just announced on October 4, 2017, advertisers budgets will be
automatically enabled to exceed their daily allotment by two times?
Is this an optional change?
Nope!
Is this a good change and will it affect how you actually allocate your daily ad spend? Well, that
depends.
What Does the New Adwords Daily Budget Update Really Mean for You?
When it comes right down to it what s changed? And do you actually lose any control over your daily

However, the end result of this policy, which is yet to be seen, has advertisers concluding that setting a
daily budget means nothing now.
Potential Issues (Good and Bad) as a Result of This New Update
There are several things that are going to change and perhaps be a little more challenging. For
example:
1. You ll probably never come in under your monthly advertising budget again. That could be good or
bad depending on how you look at it.
2. This change will help you maximize your monthly ad spend by showing your ads to more people
and that s great. Isn t that what you want? Of course you do. But it s also an opportunity for Google to
increase their ad revenue because this will have every advertiser coming a little closer to spending all
of their monthly budget. So it appears to be a win win for everyone.
3. Your daily tracking reports will show more sporadic numbers. On some days your ads will be
overserved and other days they will fall short, but the daily fluctuations will go both ways which
means your spend will level out by month s end.
Explaining How it All Works
Google has always had the ability to exceed the daily AdWords budget you ve selected; however, they
previously had it capped at 20 percent versus the 100 percent they are now using to manipulate their
policy.
This process is called overdelivery. There are some

The State Of Maryland Was Considered A Border State
During The War Between the States, the State of Maryland was considered a border state. This was
because Maryland did not have a majority of its people backing either the Union or the Confederacy.
In addition, it was geographically located between the Northern free states and the Southern slave
states. Maryland was a dichotomy before the Civil War as the state had almost as many free blacks as
it did slaves. In early 1861, almost 84,000 free Negroes were identified while more than 87,000 black
and mixed race individuals were listed as slaves. Maryland was made up of merchants and business
people in the central and western parts of the state with primarily farmers and slaveholders in the east
and south. The merchant class, gaining control of the state legislature, felt that a war with the North
would be economically devastating and could destroy their businesses. That was one of the main
reasons Maryland did not initially join the Confederacy. In addition, the state legislature felt they d be
unable to protect their border with Pennsylvania, also known as the 244 mile long Mason Dixon Line,
from a Union invasion. They also feared a blockade of Baltimore Harbor by the Union Navy. While
the business faction supported the Federalist philosophy of Washington and the North, many
Marylanders sided with the State s Rights agenda of the South. This schism caused massive upheaval
in the state and many Southern sympathizers moved to Virginia and North Carolina when the state

Both Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln use facts and details to support their cause. King
uses more figurative language in his speech though, where as compared to Lincoln which uses purley
facts. An example of this would be when King uses metaphors to compare the negros to the whites and
how segregation affects the blacks. A quote for this would be Now it is time to lift our nation from the
quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. ( I Have a Dream ) He is comparing
segregation and racial injustice to quicksand and no segregation and brotherhood to rocks. Lincoln
simply says what we should do and he gives the people reasons to keep fighting. An example of this
would be when he says It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. (Gettysburg address)
Therefore, this proves that he is trying to give the people motivation. Although they may have these
differences, they have one element that is similar. Both King and Lincoln use highly intelligent words

Reasons To Choose The Electoral College
The Electoral College is a body of electors who are selected by a larger group of people. The smaller
group, the electors, represent the votes for the larger group, or a state. Each state gets a certain amount
of electoral votes based on the population of the state. A candidate gets all the electoral votes for the
state if they win the majority of the popular votes for that state. There are many reasons why the
United States uses an Electoral College instead of a popular election and how to determine the
majority.
The Constitution explains the Electoral College in Article II, Section I ( U. S. Electoral College,
Official What Is the Electoral College? ). The founding fathers established the Electoral College

By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his

Previously, I taught my student to identify key elements in a story to help her find the main idea and to use context clues to determine meaning of words. However, after the lesson, I noticed my student made a poor effort to refer back to the story when writing or talking about the story to provide appropriate evidence. Essay on Ian Wilmut and the Cloning of Dolly Ian Wilmut and the Cloning of Dolly Definitions of creativity vary based on different people s interpretations, yet most people agree that creative individuals produce new ideas that can completely change or invent a domain. According to Howard Gardner, creativity is not limited to a single domain, but is unique for all seven domains. Creativity is based on three core elements: the relationship between the child and the master, the relationship between an individual and the work in which he/she is engaged, and the relationship between the individual and others, such as family and friends (Gardner, 9). To get a cell from an adult mammal to behave like a cell from a developing embryo had long since been abandoned at major centers of scientific research (Healy, 176). The doubt of others didn t sway Wilmut s ideas. He used a method called somatic cell nuclear transfer cloning in order to produce Dolly. This same technique has now been used for application of human stem cells to generate differentiated tissues (and this same technique could also be used to clone a human from an adult cell). Wilmut used three different breeds of sheep so it would be apparent that Dolly s genes did not come from her surrogate mother nor the egg donor, but from the six year old, Finn Dorset. In addition, in order to account for problems such as cells being in the wrong stage, or having the wrong set of genes turned on, or having cells that are too metabolically active, Wilmut starved the cells for several days. He then fused the starved cell with enucleated eggs. This made the DNA copying device in the cell to stop by arresting the cell cycle and forcing the cells into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soda companies have continued to struggle with the political interference in the market. In the past few years, nations all over the world have passed taxes on soda beverages. France passed a tax on soda and sales dropped by 3%. In Mexico, sales dropped by 2% after a similar tax was passed. And though the drops in sales are alarming, it is not event the biggest threat. Ultimately, the goal of the politicians is to drastically decrease the consumption of soda drinks. Their attempt to pass these taxes is a power play to make soda beverages viewed as similar to cigarette companies. It is imperative that we do everything in our power to stop these taxes from occurring. So far we have been successful in combating taxes in San Francisco and New York City. We have done this through a combination of business and political actions. Through our research we have been able to come up with a comprehensive list of strategies to counteract the soda tax. This list can be broken down into two main areas, business actions and political actions. Political: The political strategies would be utilized to strike down all efforts to pass a soda tax or any other legislation aimed at reducing the consumption of Coca Cola products. Children and their families should not be split up In residential housing projects the children were only allowed to stay with the mother but the father was to stay in the detention centres. This separation of family exacerbates the already fragile mental state of families. Women were considered physically weaker yet morally superior to men, what meant that they were best suited to the domestic sphere ( Gender roles in the 19th century ). The fact that woman was morally superior to man led to the belief that her goal was to bear many children and maintain a home that her husband did not have to worry about (berryofthesea). • 12. Factors of the Jewish Dispersion The destination of the Jewish dispersion varied especially based on the occupations of the Jews. The actual Diaspora really took place when thousands of Hebrew elites and craftsmen were deported and dispersed to Babylon. This occurred to concentrate the various skills of the Jewish in separate arenas and to use these individually skilled communities for the benefit of the Babylonians. For example, as previously mentioned the most skilled and elite Jews were dispersed to Babylon the heart of the Babylonian empire. Thus, the better trained and more adept a Jew was, the more opportunity the Jew had to serve for empire in higher ranks solely to meet the needs of the empire and its rulers. This helped the empires exiling the Jews to prosper, but unfortunately created rifts and gaps within the Hebrew community. This pattern of dispersion, which was developed by the Babylonians and used by the Romans to scatter the Jews, allowed for these dominant empires to prosper, however, limited the interaction within the Hebrew community and resulted in the diminishing originality and novelty of the skilled Jews. Despite the use of the uniform dispersion pattern based on the occupations of the Jews, the reason why Jews were exiled and dispersed varied depending on the imposing empire of the time, which performed these actions. This form was considered European and was claimed by the upper class as the primary national music of Puerto Rico as an act of protest against Spain; The danza was initially view as a hybrid musical form, But with the growth of nationalist sentiment, the invasion of Cuban and North American dance forms, the growing presence of Afro Puerto Rican popular music from below , by the late nineteenth and early twentieth century the upper classes had positively sanctified the danza as the national music of Puerto Rico. Overtime and in defensive reaction to rapid social, economic, and political change, the danza became a potent national symbol (Glasser, 195). The irony of the elite s claim to the danza is that the musical profession was not considered a respectable occupation and was therefore only practiced by mulatos or negritos, mainly of the working class (Glasser, 58).It was common for Puerto Ricans of color to perform for white only establishments (Glasser, 58) For mulatos and negritos, music was a profession that could lead to social mobility (Glasser, 58). Many musicians were of the working class and had primary jobs to support themselves during periods of unemployment for musical performers. Many worked as artisans, making cigars or producing coffee (Glasser, 50). Changing economic conditions on the island hindered the chances for social mobility for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

E. coli was artificially induced that became a competent bacteria when it took the pGLO DNA, so it had the ability to have ampicillin resistance and fluoresced when arabinose was present. Two tubes with E. coli were labeled to differentiate which tube the pGLO was added to, then through several steps the bacteria was induced to intake the pGLO DNA. At the end, each tube was inoculated on to three different plates that contained different substances and they were incubated then observed. The results showed only one E. coli culture had growth and fluoresced which was the pGLO+ E. coli that was grown on the plate with LB, amp +arab, there were only two E. coli cultures that did not grow because the pGLO E. coli did not have the ampicillin resistance to grow in ampicillin conditions, and the rest of the culture plates showed growth. pGLO could be used in food safety experiments done by the food safety department that helped to identify Salmonella and Yersinia enterocolitica in pig slurry, so they were able to calculate how long these bacteria lived in certain conditions before disinfectants were used. Introduction Transformation is a process when a bacteria cell was able to be incorporated into a sequence of DNA from the environment, this type of bacteria is called a competent ... • 27. The Theme Of Money In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather There are many themes and symbols shown throughout My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, from love to marriages, and choices. The motif I want to analyze is the motif of money. Money is used throughout the whole book, it used to help persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle, and it is what caused Oswald to become Myra s mortal enemy. Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy and made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel describes their lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the finest property in Parthia. Mr. Driscoll had fast horses that made national record, and Myra would throw balls and garden parties, where she would have the band play their music (10). Myra s aunt said that Myra had everything: dresses and jewels, a fine riding horse, a Steinway piano , and how her uncle took her to Ireland and had her painted by one of the famous painters there (10 11). At a youthful age, Myra did not care about money, though she cared about love. She fell in love with a gentleman named Oswald Henshawe, but Mr. Driscoll had an old grudge of some sort with Oswald father, and Driscoll did not like the idea Myra and Oswald being together. Oswald had left Parthia and went to college at Harvard; he then moved to New York and after two years he was in the position to get married (12). Then he wrote to John Driscoll for Myra s hand in ... There is no known record of who sculpted this bust, and no accurate record of who it was made for or why it was made. It was sculpted entirely out of marble. After Caligula was murdered by his guards in 41 AD, almost all recorded statues and portraits of him were destroyed, as well as a lot of writings that were done about him. Various Graphs are obtained so that the actual performance of the car can be determined. Graph 1 (Abundance) prominently shows the torque of the engine at the respective engine speed along with the specific fuel consumption at that speed. Approximately 230Nm is the maximum torque that can be obtained at 4200 rpm, trailed by decrease in torque for the remaining speed. A cycle run was conducted for three different periods of cycle in which the vehicle was accelerated then hold and decelerated for certain time depending upon the requirement of cycle. Graph 2 A shows the change in velocity upon change in acceleration for three different cycle times. Also the shift of gears during the period can be observed. Graph 2 B illustrates consumption of the fuel during the three different stages. It can be noted that when the velocity was about 50 km/h the fuel consumption was about 5.0 l/h. Also it significantly notifies that during idling the fuel consumption is 1.6 l/h. In this Graph it can be inferred that the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of 4200rpm. Maximum fuel is consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar, fuel consumption gradually decreases with increase in engine speed. Potential Issues (Good and Bad) as a Result of This New Update There are several things that are going to change and perhaps be a little more challenging. For example: 1. You ll probably never come in under your monthly advertising budget again. That could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. 2. This change will help you maximize your monthly ad spend by showing your ads to more people and that s great. Isn t that what you want? Of course you do. But it s also an opportunity for Google to increase their ad revenue because this will have every advertiser coming a little closer to spending all of their monthly budget. So it appears to be a win win for everyone. 3. Your daily tracking reports will show more sporadic numbers. On some days your ads will be overserved and other days they will fall short, but the daily fluctuations will go both ways which means your spend will level out by month s end. Explaining How it All Works Google has always had the ability to exceed the daily AdWords budget you ve selected; however, they previously had it capped at 20 percent versus the 100 percent they are now using to manipulate their policy. • 34. The State Of Maryland Was Considered A Border State During The War Between the States, the State of Maryland was considered a border state. This was because Maryland did not have a majority of its people backing either the Union or the Confederacy. In addition, it was geographically located between the Northern free states and the Southern slave states. Maryland was a dichotomy before the Civil War as the state had almost as many free blacks as it did slaves. In early 1861, almost 84,000 free Negroes were identified while more than 87,000 black and mixed race individuals were listed as slaves. Maryland was made up of merchants and business people in the central and western parts of the state with primarily farmers and slaveholders in the east and south. The merchant class, gaining control of the state legislature, felt that a war with the North would be economically devastating and could destroy their businesses. That was one of the main reasons Maryland did not initially join the Confederacy. In addition, the state legislature felt they d be unable to protect their border with Pennsylvania, also known as the 244 mile long Mason Dixon Line, from a Union invasion. They also feared a blockade of Baltimore Harbor by the Union Navy. While the business faction supported the Federalist philosophy of Washington and the North, many Marylanders sided with the State s Rights agenda of the South. However, the Fokker family soon moved back to their native Holland, where Anthony received his early primary and early secondary education. By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his first aircraft, and then taught himself how to fly it ( Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, n.d., para. 3). By the outbreak of World War One in July of 1914, Fokker had set up an aircraft manufacturing plant and a flight school.
