they were, carry out qualitative research into what people like aboutit, look atthe film reviews etc.
Report
Use the PPT on what makes a good short film and the examples provided. Remember ‘SHE’
(2015) is our Distinction level student example.
Once this is done create a detailed reportto be presented to film producers detailing all the
information you have found in your research. Start with an introduction explaining that this reportis
for Producers explaining why they will want the film to be made.
The report must SELL the idea of why the film should be made and how it will appeal to the target
market. Include your primary and secondary research.
Your reportshould include your film’s unique selling point(USP) and details ofbudget, crew
needed,locations etc.

target audience. Include focus group/teacher feedback always explain why you made decisions
and relate to your target audience. Include an evaluation throughout your reporton what you have
learnt whilst carrying out the research and the report. Give detailed examples to changes to your
film, for example ifyour target audience didn’tlike the female character being weak you can talk
about how based on your research you decided to subvertstereotypes and create a dominant
female character (use your terminology).

narrative, camera, mise en scene, sound and give examples ofhow you will use these to create
meaning.
Your reportmust contain visuals such as bar graphs/pie charts etc..
As you work you should take print screen images ofyour work using the ‘track changes’ option to
show you have been proofreading and making changes to your work. Atthe end ofyour report
you must include these printscreen images with some textexplaining your changes.
Presentation
You will use this report(A – D) to create a presentation you will use in your pitch. This can be
done in groups but you all need equal presenting time.
Don’t just copy your textfrom your reportonto your slides, this needs to be an
interactive/interesting presentation.
You need to SELL the idea ofwhy your film should be made – use the research to back this up as
well as your unique selling point.
Make sure you include information on budgets, locations, crew needed etc so the producers have a
better idea ofyou film and what they will need to make it work.
You shouldn’thave loads oftext on the slides, you should use the slides as a guide, notjustread
off of them.
