Peek at the Week:
Students began the last unit in reading. We
worked on the sound of /w/ and the words “was
and here”. During activity centers students are
practicing nouns/verbs and writing sentences.
We tested then retested with a simplified version
of Math Chapter Seven. A new concept was
introduced, words that can mean more than one
thing (bark, bat) The children are also working
with capitalization and punctuation in sentences.
We met for our leveled reading groups and the
students are doing so well! Reading nightly really
shows when the students read to me!
Students discussed Earth Day and how we can
help!
Reading
Students are making great strides with
their reading and recognize many high
frequency words. Please continue to read
nightly with your child. Make it pleasant
and help them if they get stuck. Model
how you figure out word and discuss the
book.
