The author provides details on what they learned about how to use each technology and what file formats were required.
1. Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Cornelia Ross
2. Blogger The main technology of constructing I used was Blogger. I used it a lot as I used it for updating my blog on a regular bases. It kept all my work in chronological order from start to end. I could up load different applications to make my blog stand out. For example pixton, and go animate.
3. Google I used Google for a various of different things. I used it for finding out valuable research, i.e. looking up different readers profiles, etc and images for a visual aid to back them up i.e. front covers of different magazines.
4. Prezi Using prezi made it easier because you could out a lot of research in to a tiny space, still looking powerful and getting the message across. I learnt how to create paths to make my work go in order and I also learnt how to upload clips onto prezi.
5. Slideshare Slideshare is a quick and easy device where you can up load your presentation onto the internet. I used this quite a bit for my photography research as it came across better than prezi.
6. YouTube I used YouTube quite a lot. I learnt how to upload video’s by using quick time movie maker from final cut express. I also did most of research and uploaded videos into my blog like the UK tribe videos.
7. Photoshop CS4 Photoshop was the main application what I used for constructing my final product. I learnt about layering, to create depth into the magazine as you can see on the main image and title. I learnt about using sell lines to make my magazine fit proportion. I learnt different effect such as drop shadowing and glow to make pieces of magazine stand out. I learnt about JPEG’s on how you have to save them for to upload them on to you blog or to print them out
8. Dafont.com I used dafont.com to download the font for my magazines, they have 10's of thousands of fonts to choose from. I sort of had an idea of what I wanted my font to like to I searched snappy and it came up my main font what I used. dafont.com was easy to use but it was very time consuming to find the right font. The font had to be a tiff file so it could be easily used on the Mac.
9. S2R Cannon Camera For my photography research I used S2R cannon camera this allowed my to take high quality pictures, and able to DOF just right. I learnt final after practicing the different stages of DOF It was great for taking quick images as it a quick shutter speed. The only bad thing about it, you had to change settings once you went out side as it would make your pictures very dark.
10. Lumix HD Camera Another camera I used was the lummox hd camera, this is my own camera, so I knew how to use it. The picture quality was very good as it is a HD camera. However it wasn't as good as the S2R on the DOF as it zooms in high quality and fills the screen. I used this camera for my magazine pictures as I wanted high quality photos as I was mostly taking long shots of my models. All the images I took had to be jpeg so I could edit them easier.
11. Photo Booth To get feed back on my magazine, I took videos of different people giving me feedback on photo booth. It quick and easy to use as it is inside the Mac with a camera. You don't have fiddle about with tapes and camera equipment. All these video had to MP4 to work either on the blog or exporting them into final cut express.
12. Final Cut Express To edit my videos together I used final cut express. This help me choose bits of the videos that I wanted instead of having a 20 minute video. It was quite hard to use I thought and it was very time costuming as it took nearly a lesson and a half to edited it and then export it to QuickTime movie so it work when I was uploading it to YouTube then my blog. It also took time to render the video as if you never rendered it would either play out of sequence or not play at all, which was a pain.
13. Garage Band To add a bit of music to the back to my videos I used garage band to create an original piece of music, so I didn't effect and copyright laws. It was quite simple to used as it was easily set up and easy to find the right pieces of musical equipment. I created the music to fit around my genre of music which is indie/ pop. So I gave it a steady with a bass and electric guitar. Also the music had to exported using MP3 so it could easily be listened to.
14. Pixton To make my blog stand out and be quite unique I used pixton to create a mini comic strip of how production works for my magazine and how it would compete against other magazines. It was simply to use once you signed up, but I didn't see why you have to be 19 to make one. I learnt that different application bring you work across instead of just writing
15. Go! Animate Another thing I use was goanimate.com this was fun and easy to used. It something different to use and it's better than just read a load of boring text. I learnt how to make a movie comic strip either like stickmen, family guy and many more.
16. Apple Mac I used apple Mac for main construction, planning and research. I learnt about the different applications and how easy it is to download things. I found using the Macs easier than using a PC for doing these products.
