How technologies helped construct our opening sequence
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing the product?
2. Research
To help research different films and in particular films of our chosen
genre, we used google to find out films that come under our genre
then used Netflix and YouTube to either watch the whole of the film
or certain parts.
We used Netflix to watch the whole of ‘Casino Royale’ and YouTube
to watch the opening sequence of ‘Indiana Jones’
This helped us with our research as we could study existing
action/adventure films and implement some of the ideas into our
opening sequence.
3. Planning
In the planning stage we used Google Maps to scout our local area
to try and find the ideal place for us to film.
When finding the area we went there ourselves and took pictures
which we then shared to each other over Facebook so we could
discuss and debate where we thought would be best.
4. Construction
To construct our opening sequence we used Sony Vegas as it was
the best software available to us at the time.
Before hand we had very little experience using the software and
had only used it once or twice before therefore we had to do some
experimenting to work things out.
This worked to our favour however as it allowed us to find effects
that we used in our final cut that we may not have found otherwise.
The non-diagetic sound used was found through clips on YouTube,
however Rob in my group created our soundtrack by himself using
his own software.
5. Evaluation
We used YouTube once again for evaluation purposes as it allows a
wide range of people from all over the world to see our opening
sequence.
We also put a link to the YouTube video on Facebook so more
people could view it, if I were to do this again we could also use
Twitter to get even more people’s feedback.
Microsoft Excel was also used to display clearly the results of our
questionnaires as you can put the information into bar graphs, pie
charts etc.
