  4. 4. The costume regarded asnational dress is based onclothing worn by Welshcountrywomen during theearly nineteenth century,which was a striped flannelpetticoat, worn under aflannel open-fronted bedgown, with an apron, shawland kerchief or cap.
  5. 5. "In the 13th century Llewelyn, prince of NorthWales, had a palace at Beddgelert. One day hewent hunting without Gelert, "The Faithful Hound",who was unaccountably absent.On Llewelyns return the truant, stained andsmeared with blood, joyfully sprang to meet hismaster. The prince alarmed hastened to find hisson, and saw the infants cot empty, thebedclothes and floor covered with blood.The frantic father plunged his sword into thehounds side, thinking it had killed his heir. Thedogs dying yell was answered by a childs cry.Llewelyn searched and discovered his boyunharmed, but near by lay the body of a mightywolf which Gelert had slain.The prince filled with remorse is said never tohave smiled again. He buried Gelert here".

In an eclectic mix of culture, music, art and all sorts of activities for people of all ages.The Eisteddfod is a touring festival which is owned by people in all parts of Wales, and this is a big part ofits appeal. It is visiting areas in north and south Wales alternately, and held the National Eisteddfod is a major boost to any area.
