Funny moments in Slovenia
1. FUNNY MOMENTS IN SLOVENIA
by Jacqueline Alessia Craciun
Hello, everyone! My name is Jacqueline, I am 12 years old and I had the chance to go to Slovenia
in May 2017, as a member of the team selected for the „Thinking ... Coding” Erasmus Project. We spent a
wonderful time there and we learned a lot of interesting things about Coding. There were plenty of funny
moments that made our stay in Slovenia really memorable. Let me tell you about some of them:
First of all, Celje is a beauuuuuuutiful city , worth visiting in any season. So, I was impressed with
its beauty from the very first day! But there was a thing that made me laugh on the day of arrival: Celje
seemed to be the city of Mr Bean’s cars, really tiny ones!!!
On the first day of activities at MCC Hostel, one of the funniest things that happened was our
encounter with the famous humanoid robot Nao. We laughed a lot when he showed us all the karate
movements he knew. I also laughed when I tried to have a dialogue with him. It was so funny to see a
small robot looking into your eyes and trying to answer your questions!!! It was the first experience of
this kind for me and, probably, for the other kids as well.
A very challenging and exciting thing that we learned was during the Chemistry class, when we
were taught to make icecream and candles. It was funny to taste the icecream made by ourselves. To be
honest, I only had the chance to take a picture with my icecream, because my Mum ate it all!!!! She loved
it!
2. Anyway, the funniest thing that happened at MCC Hostel, was Ruxandra’s and my attempt to play
the roles of some Secret Agents. We imagined we were characters in James Bond series and we had to
solve a case in Celje, Slovenia. However, till the end of our stay in Slovenia, we did not figure out what
the case was, but it was funny to be undercover, anyway!!! We spied all the people ! So be careful, we
can spy you every day, as well !
Let me tell you about another funny thing. Almost every evening I told my classmates, Edi, Andra
and Andreea, to come to my room, not for a pyjama party, but for the project we had to finish for the
Romanian class. We were supposed to create a fairy tale, using the main features of a classical one, as we
had been taught by our Romanian teacher. The funny thing is that, instead of doing our homework, we
finished the evenings by doing something completely different, like talking and laughing about the
experiences we had that day. Back home, it was not so funny any more, because we had to stay up till late
at night to finish the project!!!
When we went to Postojna Jama, I made everybody on the bus listen to a special song, dedicated
to Mehmet, the Turkish teacher. It was funny to see him dancing on Kiss Kiss by Tarkan, while getting
off the bus.
On the last day of our stay in Celje, during the certificate awarding festivity, I told my Mum I
would like to make a speech, to thank the Slovenian teachers and pupils for the wonderful time we had in
their city and for all the activities they had prepared for us. I also wanted to thank all the pupils and
teachers from the other countries involved in the project, for the wonderful team work we developed and
3. for the magnificent time spent together. The funny thing was that I couldn’t utter a word when I got the
microphone, because I burst into tears while trying to speak. I was so sorry I had to leave Slovenia, that I
couldn’t prevent my overwhelming feelings from making me cry. Of course, at that time, it was not a
funny situation for me, but now that I am more relaxed when thinking about it, I find it funny, because
nobody could understand anything of my „speech”. I kept crying till Klaudija, the kind Slovenian teacher,
gave me a hug.
After such an emotional moment, I felt the need to sleep. So, while everybody was busy packing
and waiting for the GoOpti bus, I was dreaming about another trip to Slovenia!
One more funny thing: the framed poster on the wall of the MCC Hostel bar. I considered it
brilliant:
Well , these were the funny moments I experienced in Slovenia! Hope you liked them!
