Common Problem Areas
There are a significant number of common problem areas in writing reports in the criminal justice
field, because individuals often submit reports without proofreading and correcting mistakes.
Consequently, it has a negative impact on the overall quality of the report because it can make it
difficult for readers to understand the issues or topics that is being discussed in the report. Thus, it is
an important rule to remember not to submit any written report without proof reading it, including
reports that are simple and straightforward (Miller & Whitehead, 2015). As previously stated, one of
the common problem areas is misinterpretation, which stems from difficult reading and
understanding the report. Therefore, it is important to read and

The Common Oral Health Problems
Gum disease is one of the most common oral health problems. In fact, it is estimated that 75 percent
of adults who are over the age of 30 have gum disease. Forty–seven percent of adults who are over
the age of 30 have periodontitis, which is the most serious form of gum disease.
Untreated gum disease will eventually destroy the bone and tissue that supports the teeth. It can also
lead to tooth loss. In fact, gum disease is the top cause of tooth loss in adults. Fortunately, gum
disease can be prevented. Below are some tips for preventing gum disease:
Good Oral Hygiene
Good oral hygiene is one of the keys to preventing gum disease. The mouth is filled with disease–
causing bacteria. Brushing and flossing helps prevent bacteria and plaque from building up in your
mouth. You should brush your twice every day. Ideally, you should brush in the morning and before
going to bed. You should spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth.
You will need to floss daily. Flossing helps loosen and remove food particles and bacteria.
Professionals have debated about whether it is best to floss before or after you brush. However, it
does not matter whether or not you floss before you brush. As long as you are flossing and brushing
regularly, your oral health will greatly benefit it.
You should consider using an anti–plaque mouthwash after you brush and floss. The mouthwash can
help eliminate the bacteria and plaque that may be left behind. It also helps prevent cavities.

Obesity : A Common And Serious Public Health Problem
Obesity is classified as one of the extremely common and serious public health problems in the
world. Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading global risks of mortality in the world (World
Health Organization, 2009). Furthermore, they are one of the major factors of for a number of
chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer (World
Health Organization, 2005). According to NHS UK, obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI)
of 30 or more for adults, and the UK 1990 growth reference curves are used to define obesity for
Children (Cole TJ, Freeman JV, Preece MA, 1995). The growing challenge of obesity of Europe
countries is remarkable among Asian countries .In 2008, 1.4 billion adults (35%) aged 20 and over
were overweight and 500 million were obese (11%). More than 40 million children under the age of
5 were overweight or obese in 2012(World Health Organization, 2014). That is the global obesity
situation. Furthermore, the obesity problem in the UK is not optimistic, the UK has the highest
obesity rates among Europe countries, and this trend has strikingly increased over the recent years to
the point where more than 20% of the population are now obese. (University of Birmingham, 2014)
However, the obesity situation in Singapore is more worrisome. In 2010, 40% adults aged 18 to 69
were overweight and 10% were obese which is more than double the level seen in 1992. (Ministry
of Health Singapore, 2010) This essay will

A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay
Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of
everyday conversation. However, the "migration phenomenon" is not a new one but can be traced as
far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal
behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several
groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the
circumstances surrounding one's migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from the
political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are left
with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when acclimating to
a new environment.
In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures,
films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends.
A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to
identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being
able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self–esteem and a
sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual's well–being.
As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group.
However, intersectional identities exist

Bullying Is A Common Problem
Bullying is a common problem. Bullying is very negative and creates bigger problems for society.
Since many people don`t take bullying serious, they are often left shocked and confused when an
incident occurs as a result of bullying. This essay is about dealing with bullying and one teens
desparate struggle to deal with the issue; which ultimately led to her suicide at the age of 15.
There are many forms of bullying. Two types of bullying that Amanda experienced was emotional
bullying, which includes spreading rumors, manipulating social relationships, or engaging in social
exclusion, extortion, or intimidation and physical bullying which involves hitting, kicking, spitting,
pushing, and taking personal belongings. The second form of bullying is sexual bullying, which
involves sexual harassment and sexual abuse. (Regoli, Hewitt, & Delisi,2014).
There are many emotions experienced, when someone is bullied. Despite the fact, it might not show
intially, a lot could be going on internally. As a result of being bullied Amanda experienced anxiety,
major depression, and panic disorder. She handled with it by revolving to drugs, alcohol, and sex. In
return, she suffered more pain and cause damaged to herself, as she struggled to be accepted by her
peers, find someone who cares, and just to mean something to someone.
Reading Amanda story I felt a sense of pity for her. I had many questions as to how she could
literally feel like she has no one. Did she post her video,

Obesity : A Common Problem
Obesity is a common problem in America that continues to increase throughout the years. It is a
problem because of the life threatening side effects that are posed to a lot of individuals. A lot of
blame is placed on the laziness of the modern times. People are getting lazy and don't go outside or
have any form of exercise anymore. Meanwhile, there are fast food chains catering to these people,
continuing to increase everywhere people go. It is common knowledge that fast food is not healthy.
Unhealthy foods are lot cheaper than the cheaper foods people can be consuming instead. In
addition to prices, fast food is also a lot quicker to attain. These low prices and easy access are what
attract people to the food and keep them coming back and in turn, contributing to the factors of
weight gain in the country. This is why there is a large debate on how food industries are to blame
for the increased food consumption leading to weight gain. There are many factors involved when it
comes to obesity, but whether fast food or individual responsibility is to blame will be analyzed. The
measure of body fat are usually categorized under the classifications of either underweight, healthy
weight, overweight, or obese. This is based on the body mass index of individuals, which is a
measure derived from a person's mass and height. Having a BMI of above 25 would be considered
overweight. Becoming overweight and obesity occurs when the intake of calories is greater than the
calories burned.

Is Sloth Not A Common Problem?
In this modern day, most people would look at the word, sloth, and immediately define it as
laziness; but it takes our own willfulness to act as such. We might not see it that way, but sloth is not
just doing nothing– or being lazy, no, sloth can and does happen when one is too busy doing a great
many other tasks other that what we need to do– distraction a common problem in today's society.
We are too busy to focus on what matters because "our hectic lives are examples of the narcotic
effect of acedia among us, the "spiritual morphine" that Norris wrote about. All this activity is a way
of coping with pain" (Senkbeil, 2014). Sloth itself is a sort of neglect, it keeps one from their
priorities, disguising itself as the great many other commitments that must be completed on a daily,
weekly and monthly basis. Keeping busy, because they would otherwise be perceived as lazy or
slothful is not the answer; "We are constantly busy; we can't possibly be accused of being slothful or
lazy" (Senkbeil)! But note that according to McMartin, "both laziness and workaholism can be
potential symptoms of the deeper spiritual vice of acedia" (2013) but not sloth itself. "We miss
opportunities because of wrong investment. This leads to emptiness (in our life, mind, and soul).
Then it leads to consequence, which leads to excuses. We make excuses and give in to circumstance,
which empowers our situation and disempowers us" (Gilligan, 2016)! Instead there must be a
diligent effort to

Childhood Obesity Is A Common Problem
Childhood obesity is a medical condition of being overweight or obese. This condition has
continued to grow and increase over the past five decades. In the US alone there are more than three
million cases per year. For one to be obese it means that the individual is significantly overweight
for their age and height. The way to tell if someone is obese or overweight is by a BMI, which
stands for body mass index. Being overweight is defined as having a BMI that is at or above the
85th percentile to the 95th percentile for children and teens. Childhood obesity is a common
problem in America today and changes need to be done to save the future youth from having these
health problems. Childhood obesity has been around for a long time. It has ... Show more content on

Another reason being lifestyle that is taught to children by their parents. Some blame can be put
onto parents if they do not lead their children into an active healthy lifestyle. Many children tend to
either live a vigorously active lifestyle or sedentary lifestyle, which is greatly influenced by their
parents. A bad habit in diet can also induce the chances of childhood obesity. For example,
"Beverages such as sugar–sweetened beverages (SSBs) and whole–fat milks are leading sources of
added sugars and solid fats, respectively, in the diets of US children and contribute nearly one–fifth
of total caloric intake." (Ford and Popkin, 47–53) This explains how many sugary drinks are
incorporated into young children 's diets and can be very unhealthy for them. Most children love
sugary drinks, but these drinks can have a negative impact on their diet causing them to gain
unwanted excess weight. One way to help this is by monitoring the amount of sugar a day they
consume. For example, "One of the best strategies to reduce childhood obesity is to improve the
eating and exercise habits of your entire family." (Sandhya) This shows how small changes in
children 's diets and lifestyle could result in many beneficial outcomes for children who suffer from
this. Childhood obesity has received many efforts of improvement, but hasn't had enough results.

Hearing Loss : A Common Health Problem
All About Hearing Loss
While some people may not think much about their ears, it is a gift that many take for granted.
Unfortunately, hearing loss is a very common health problem in the United States, and the number
of people affected with hearing loss has been rising throughout the years. Hearing loss is a serious
issue, even though it's not often thought about, your ears play a huge role in your relationships with
others and adds to the quality of your life. While hearing loss does happen with aging, with modern
life thrown into the mix, all bets are off. Nowadays, there are other factors that can negatively affect
one's ability to hear, and they are outside the realm of aging, genetics, and illness.
Your ears are delicate, and while genes and age do play a role in hearing loss, there are other aspects
of modern living that can affect your hearing such as medications and loud, continuous noises that
people are often exposed to on a day to day basis at home or at work. Luckily, there is hope, as most
types of hearing loss can be corrected by being aware of the signs and symptoms associated with
hearing loss, and by being proactive with your health. Here are some of the symptoms to watch out
for:
You have problems hearing above the background noise
High–pitched sounds, and the sounds of "S" and "F" became hard to understand
You have trouble following conversation when multiple people are speaking at once
You have problems deciphering conversations on the phone

Childhood Obesity: A Common Problem In Today's Society
Childhood obesity is a common problem in today's society due to behavioral and dietary changes. It
has become more common due to the increase in the risk factors that cause obesity. However, it is
possible to manage the problem through adequate support. The control of the problem aids in
averting future health complications associated with excessive weight. Children and teens should
participate in physical activities for at least 60 minutes a day. Prevention of childhood obesity is
simple and necessary. It is extremely important for parents and children to know how to prevent
childhood obesity before it is too late. The growing issue of childhood obesity can decrease, if
society focuses on the causes. There are many components that play into

Atrial Fibrillation : A Common Problem
ABSTRACT
Atrial fibrillation is a common problem, with over 2 million people affected in the United States.
Atrial fibrillation causes substantial morbidity and mortality, with an increased risk of ischemic
stroke. Thus, it is important to recognize the risk factors associated with the disease to prevent it
from occurring. In this review, being overweight and obese is positively correlated with increased
risk of developing atrial fibrillation in both men and women. This review suggests that the excess
risk of atrial fibrillation associated with obesity may be caused by the left atrial remodeling and
enlargement caused by the excess adipose tissue, hemodynamic overload, and adipokines
inflammatory response. This data raises the possibility that interventions to promote normal weight
may reduce the burden of atrial fibrillation in the current and future population. A few of the
recognized risk factors for atrial fibrillation are male sex, increasing age, hypertension, diabetes,
ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and heart valve disease (13). It has been known for more than
75 years that a critical mass of atrial tissue is necessary for atrial fibrillation to occur and left atrial
enlargement is also an important precursor of atrial fibrillation (3). Several studies have shown that
BMI is one of the most powerful determinants of the left atrial size needed for developing atrial
fibrillation (3), so getting BMI lowered by exercise and a good diet should be of high priority

How Divorce Is A Common Family Problem Essay
Part I: Addressing Divorce in a Family Context Divorce is a common family problem faced by fifty
percent of American families today (source). No–fault divorce gave rise to divorce rates as the
divorce rate doubled from 1960–1980 (source). Approximately half of children born to married
parents in the 1970s compared to only about eleven percent in the 1950s (source). Research also
demonstrates that African Americans are more likely to divorce than Anglos as approximately one–
half of first marriages end within ten years as compared to one–third of first marriages of Anglos.
Foreign–born Hispanic/Latinos marriages are less likely to end than Anglo marriages (source). U.S.
born Hispanic/Latinos tend to have higher levels of martial instability than Anglos but lower than
African Americans (source). Research also shows that social class or economic disadvantage
appears to play a role in producing Anglo and African American differences in marriage and divorce
(source). Events leading up to divorce can be stressful and for some families, they may already be
facing a crisis before the actual divorce. Marriages that end in divorce typically begin a process of
unraveling, estrangement, or emotional separation years before the legal divorce actually happens.
During the course of the marriage one or both marital partners may begin to feel alienated from the
other. Conflicts or tension with each other and with the children may intensify, become more
frequent, and often go unresolved.

Utopias are very short lived because of these problems. First, The most devastating problem in a

Common Problems Faced by International Students in the UK
In the last few years, studying abroad has become an increasingly popular choice for higher
education among international students (Accessibility Navigation, 2014). An average of 10% of
students in universities all across the UK are international students from countries all over the
world. (Accessibility Navigation, 2014). Although the experience is different for each individual
student, there are many common problems that international students face. Those problems include:
culture shock to varying degrees coupled with emotional issues(Bailey, 2005), Language barriers
along with other communication problems (Sherry et al, 2009), and academic problems due to a
change in school curriculum (Ramachandran, 2011). This essay will expand on the ... Show more

It can be argued that if international students are given accurate information on what to expect, the
culture shock can be minimised or avoided(Sherry et al, 2009). Instead of limiting the orientation
experience to getting a geographical and academic feel of the campus, the students should also be
given the opportunity to have a supervised cultural feel of their new country of study (Turner, 2009).
Another solution that has been suggested is that the institution organise more formalised social
interaction (Sherry et al, 2009). Instead of leaving students solely to their own devices where
making new friends and meeting people in their new community is involved, the institution can
organise events and activities that group students from different parts of the world together (Sherry
et al, 2009). A common suggestion is that social clubs be put in place to bridge the gap between
international students and other students on campus. One main focus of these social clubs would be
to improve the social interaction and verbal communication skills of international students (Sherry
et al, 2009). The social clubs could also be a way for the international students to overcome the
language barrier (Sherry et al, 2009). Feedback and past data from international students on the
steps taken by the institution to promote integration could also be helpful in setting precedent for
other action to stem from (Sherry et al, 2009).

Sleep Deprivation Is A Common Problem
Intricate human bodies are much like carefully crafted machines. Each function has a purpose, and
each need has a particular function. And, much like a machine, bodies can replenish their power,
repair themselves, and fail and break down. One particular necessity for human bodies is sleep, and
if not acquired, numerous complications can emerge. Sleep deprivation is a common problem that is
all too often overlooked as a mere loss of a night's rest. What most people do not realize is the
potential problems sleep deprivation can cause. From undesired grouchiness and uninhibited yawns,
to constant illness and a failing mental state, sleep deprivation is condition that is nothing to be
taken lightly. In fact, it can cause an otherwise healthy person to slowly shut down and break, just as
a machine does without power. Sleep deprivation is simply the state of not having enough sleep. It
can affect anybody, and has become an ever increasing peril in today's world. Consequently,
"according to the National Sleep Foundation's inaugural Sleep Health Index™," as of December,
2014, " Forty–five percent of Americans say that poor or insufficient sleep affected their daily
activities at least once in the past seven days," To fully understand Sleep deprivation though, the
knowledge of the process of sleeping must be obtained. Sleep is a crucial component of every
human 's regime. Not only does the process of sleep provide essential benefits to the human body, as

The second element that will need to be incorporated in the integrated care approach is the element

providers to use guidelines that they have formulated to provide pathways that will meet the needs
of patients with genitourinary infections (Pattman, 2010). This approach will source information
from opinion leaders, educational materials, practice facilitation, audit, multifaceted interventions,
and feedback. The third and last element of this approach is the method of enhancing self–
management. This approach will enable community care, primary care, and other health care
providers to support patients with genitourinary infections to support efficiently and self–mange
themselves. This approach will enhance improved overall clinical outcomes because of family and
patients education as feasible strategies for using self–management materials. This approach will
greatly depend on home–based support, ICT and other interventions aimed at promoting the correct
pharmaceutical use of genitourinary medicine by consumers (Rogstad, 2011). These approaches will
be faced by many barriers in the implementation phase. Healthcare may not appropriately reach old
age patients (Watkins, 2011). Again some cultures believe in traditional methods of treatment, this

Diabetes : The Common Oral Health Problem
Diabetes affects nearly 30 million Americans each year. Diabetes is a disease that can cause
problems with the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and heart. Oral health problems associated with diabetes
are lesser known, but equally important. Diabetics who do not have good control over their blood
sugar levels tend to have more oral health problems. The most common oral health problem
associated with diabetics is gingivitis. Gingivitis is an inflammation usually caused by the presence
of bacteria in plaque. This inflammation can cause the destruction of the tissues that support your
teeth, gums, bones, and fibers that surround the teeth. Other oral health problems that can come
about are: tooth decay, periodontal (gum) disease, salivary gland dysfunction, fungal infections,
lichen planus and lichenoid reactions (inflammatory skin disease), infection/delayed healing, and
taste impairment. It is important to keep medical records up to date and inform the dentist if the
disease is under control. They also need to be aware of any changes in the medical history and the
names of all prescriptions and over the counter medications taken. Regular dental check–ups are
advised for every patient, but even more so for diabetics. When diabetes is not controlled properly,
high glucose levels in the saliva can cause bacteria to flourish. To help remove decay causing
plaque, patients should brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and clean in between the teeth

What Nutritional Problem Is Common
What nutritional problem is common in children in India? Neural tube defects are defects found in
the brain and spine that are present at birth. They usually appear during a woman's first month of

during pregnancy. Folic acid is a B vitamin that can prevent an infant from developing a neural tube
defect (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). All of the vitamins in the vitamin B
classification have been of specific concentration lately. The vitamins in the vitamin B classification
are the following: vitamin B12, vitamin B6, zinc and folate. Deficiencies in vitamin B12 and folate

Many times a woman does not know she is pregnant so she does not take a folic acid
supplementation. Women should be consuming .4mg of folic acid before and during pregnancy.
Women that have had a neural tube defect pregnancy should take 4.0 mg of folic acid a day to
prevent another neural tube defect pregnancy. Women should continue taking folic acid supplements
through the first trimester (Kumar, 2009).
A deficiency in folate can play a role in the development of neural tube defects in infants. The
authors found that low zinc levels and high copper levels may also play a role in neural tube defects
(Kumar, 2009). Folic acid has been fortified in enriched grains, such as, rice, cereal, bread and
pasta. Rice is one of India's staple foods. Rice fortification may help reduce the risk of neural tube
defects. Older children have been studied and fortified rice eliminated the micronutrient deficiency
in folate. (Thankachan, et al., 2012) The hope is that women will eat enough of these foods to
prevent a folate deficiency (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). An earlier report
found that 4.1 infants with neural tube defects out of 1,000 total births reported having neural tube
defects in India. The authors found that different states of India report different numbers of neural
tube defects. This is due to availability for food, poverty in certain areas and availability of folic
acid supplements. Each state had a different

Malnutrition : A Common Problem
Nepal Nutrition Section, CHD, DoHS, MoH&P. (2004,p.5 ). Malnutrition is a very common
problem in children under five years of age in Nepal and is a significant contributor to morbidity
and mortality– accounting for more than half of all child deaths. The process of stunting occurs
between conception and two years of age, and is an irreversible process. Furthermore, the
population of Nepal, especially women and children, are affected by major micronutrient
deficiencies. Malnutrition increases the risk of mortality in the early stages of infancy and
childhood, impairs cognitive function of those who survive, and hinders efforts to enhance national
social and economic development. Stunting, wasting, and underweight are among anthropometric
indicators are commonly used to measure malnutrition in a population of under five children.
Malnourished children have lowered resistance to infection; therefore, they are more likely to die
from common childhood. (Caulifield , Onis , Blossner,2009,p.193–198). In addition, malnourished
children that survive are likely to suffer from frequent illness. (Caulifield , Onis ,
Blossner,2009,p.193–198). Annually, Nepal loses nearly US$190 million to supplement vitamin and
mineral deficiencies. (World Bank, 2011,p.239). Nepal is still high ahead in the range of
malnutrition while comparing its neighboring country India, china, Pakistan, srilanka, Bhutan. In this
study, we will investigate the prevalence of malnutrition in different parts of Nepal

Common Health Problems Caused By Acidic Water
Use pH Balanced Water to Treat Common Ailments
By now, I 'm sure you know that drinking ten 8–ounce glasses of water a day is good for your
health, and drinking less can cause dehydration and lead to common ailments such as:
Dry, cracked skin
Bowel problems
Muscle pain
Headaches
Heartburn
Anxiety
Hot flashes
Increased arthritic inflammation
What you may not know, however, is that the type of water you drink is just as, if not more
important as the amount.
Is your water safe to drink, or could your favorite H20 actually be worsening your health problems?
If it 's too acidic, the answer is a resounding "yes".

The only good news about drinking city water is that the contaminants contained therein are
published on the EPA website. With bottled water, you never know what you 're getting.
Bottled Water
It may surprise you to know that about 25 percent of bottled waters come from the same water
supplies that flow from your household tap. Not only are you paying more for what you can get out
of your own faucet, you 're taking an even bigger risk with your health. Unlike tap water, bottled
water rarely has rules governing appropriate labeling.
Furthermore, according to research conducted at the Harvard School of Public Health, people who
drank from polycarbonate bottles had a 69 percent increase in an endocrine–disrupting chemical
called bisphenol A (BPA) in their bodies. BPA has been linked to the development of diabetes, heart
disease, and liver toxicity.
Filtered Water
Water filtered by a ceramic or reverse osmosis filter is your best option. These filters help remove
contaminants and make for much safer drinking water. The downside is that a whole–house water
filtration system can cost thousands of dollars to install.
Artesian Water

Insomni A Common And Overlooked Sleep Problem
A common and overlooked sleep problem throughout college aged people is insomnia. While some
people don't even know they have it, it could be greatly affecting their outlook on life. Not getting
the correct amount of sleep each night can lead to some very extreme mental health problems. These
include: paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and night terrors. Could therapy help people who
suffer from these health problems caused by insomnia? Researchers who conducted this experiment
in the UK, Freeman at el, (2015) hypothesized insomnia is a contributory casual factor to psychotic–
like experiences. With the help of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the subjects will get better
sleep, therefore they will have less psychotic–like experiences. The subjects for this experiment are
a randomized controlled group of 2,614 college students in the UK who tested positive for insomnia
(Freeman at el., p.1). The students will then be randomly split into two groups by the automated
online system (p.4). One group will be treated with CBT for insomnia and the other group will be
receive treatment as usual. Although it is explained that there are no exclusion criteria, all
participants must be at least 18 years of age and they must test positive for insomnia. However, the
participants don't have to test positive for psychotic– like experiences, because they want to see how
CBT works on the less extreme cases of insomnia (Freeman at el., p.3). The participants are chosen

Essay on Common Teenage Problems
Teenage is a fundamental stage of life that each human being passes through. Some people face this
period of their life strongly and positively, while others face many problems and difficulties. This
depends on the environment these young adults live in, their parents, their friends, their living
conditions, their education, and many other factors. Teenagers face many problems such as
becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol, being influenced negatively by their peers, self–image and
weight, or even arguments with their parents

Peer pressure has always been present and will also always be present. It is not a disease or a crime,
it is an influence; either a negative or a positive one. Negative peer pressure is an influence put on a
person to do something wrong, or something the person doesn't want to do. This may be stealing,
taking drugs, or other dangerous actions. If someone influences you into doing something like this it
is considered a negative peer pressure. This is a major problem in most schools all around the world.
Teenagers usually feel peer pressure when they feel unpopular between their friends, or when they
want to be accepted in a group of other teenagers. The group is a place where one feels accepted,
where he can feel good about himself, where he feels secure. It increases his self esteem, and it also
enhances his self–image. Unfortunately, teenagers who want to be part of these groups, need to
follow certain unpleasant routines, such as stealing, smoking, taking drugs, or drinking alcohol.
Many times they do things that they would never have imagined themselves doing before meeting a
new group of people. Some teens try to make the "right" decision so others will admire
them. Having parents or other responsible adults they can turn to for help or advice is crucial at this
point in a teen's life.
Teenagers might also face self–image or weight problems. One of the main illnesses that comes

Every college student wants their experience to be memorable, but in the right way. High school
students envision their college years will be full of fun, new social encounters, new experiences, and
fond memories. However, there are also many problems college students face throughout their years

A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians
A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully
experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual
disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of
Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a
Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a "portion of heaven." According to Isaac
Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the
vehicles to God. He said: "...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as
bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to
bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so
much taken with them (Schwanda 1)." Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could
experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three
categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are
meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the
main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of
Christ. The first spiritual discipline is meditation. According to WordNet, "meditation is the

1. How can the Internet reduce some of the common communication problems that couples
experience in face–to–face conversations? How have social network services changed
communication patterns particularly on today's college campuses? What do you see as the
advantages and disadvantages of these services?
a. One way that the Internet reduces some of the common communication problems that couples
experience in face–to–face conversations is by confirming with other people whether the behavior is
normal or abnormal. If a couple is having a particular fight, some people may find comfort by

First of all, students can communicate with their teachers outside of the classroom. Second of all,
students can communicate with one another about plans, schoolwork, parties, or even just small–talk

families, relatives, friends, etc. who does not live in the area. Overall, the social network services
provide several positive aspects to being a college student. However, on the other hand, social
network services can be a limitation for most students when these services are overused. Students
may rely on social network communication, which can complicate their face–to–face interactions.
Some students may have a hard time making friends due to the lack of interaction with other people
that the social network services can provide. Overall, there are several advantages as well as
disadvantages when it comes to the use of social network services, however, it is up to the
individual student to distribute these services to the best possible ways, so that the communication
patterns stay positive rather than negative.

Obesity : A Common Problem
Obesity has become a common problem in society. The main debate now, is why it has suddenly
become so prominent and how we can help lower the obesity rate in future generations. There are
many different beliefs surrounding obesity and this article is one of the more controversial ones.
Included in this article are different types of experiments and evidence that are meant to sway the
audience in to agreeing with the author, even if that means mocking and criticizing the evidence and
theories he disagrees with. We have always believed that obesity was caused by a lack of exercise
and a healthy diet, but this article challenges that. Written by David Berreby, "The Obesity Era" is
an article that delves deeper in to obesity and the scientific theories behind it. The author explains
that "for the first time in human history, overweight people outnumber the overfed" (Berreby). This
problem is being combated with weight loss organizations, such as Weight Watchers, and pricey
products and surgeries that are supposed to help you lose weight. Most of the experts blame obesity
on the person and their lack of eating healthy foods and exercising. But, Berreby believes that
obesity is caused by chemicals within our bodies. These chemicals make it easier to gain weight and
can even be passed down through our kids. "A past of undernutrition, combined with a present of
overnutrition, is an obesity trap" (Berreby). This is with the thought that if you or your parents were
undernourished,

Myopia Is The Most Common Eyesight Problem
Myopia is the most common eyesight problem which affects about one in five people worldwide.
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a refractive error which makes it difficult for people to
see objects that are far away. The different kinds of myopia, each based on its own symptoms and
severity. All of these myopia share similar symptoms such as blurry vision, headaches and eye
strain. The most common is classified as simple or mild myopia. High myopia is a severe form of
myopia which affects about 2% of the population. An eye with high myopia continues to grow and
become large which increases the risk of retinal detachment. On normal eyes, the light rays will
focus directly on the surface of the retina. Another form of severe and rare myopia is degenerative
myopia, which begins in early childhood and increases the risk of degenerative changes. Myopia
occurs when the eyeball is too long or when the cornea is too curved for the length of the eyeball
which causes the light rays to focus in front of the retina. This renders a person's vision to be limited
to under 6 meters. Not being able to see objects that are further than 6 meters creates problems for
humans when performing daily tasks. To combat this issue, most people use a form of vision
correction such as glasses or contact lenses while others get surgery. The curved lenses of eyeglasses

Common Problem Areas

  • 1. Common Problem Areas There are a significant number of common problem areas in writing reports in the criminal justice field, because individuals often submit reports without proofreading and correcting mistakes. Consequently, it has a negative impact on the overall quality of the report because it can make it difficult for readers to understand the issues or topics that is being discussed in the report. Thus, it is an important rule to remember not to submit any written report without proof reading it, including reports that are simple and straightforward (Miller & Whitehead, 2015). As previously stated, one of the common problem areas is misinterpretation, which stems from difficult reading and understanding the report. Therefore, it is important to read and ... • 2. The Common Oral Health Problems Gum disease is one of the most common oral health problems. In fact, it is estimated that 75 percent of adults who are over the age of 30 have gum disease. Forty–seven percent of adults who are over the age of 30 have periodontitis, which is the most serious form of gum disease. Untreated gum disease will eventually destroy the bone and tissue that supports the teeth. It can also lead to tooth loss. In fact, gum disease is the top cause of tooth loss in adults. Fortunately, gum disease can be prevented. Below are some tips for preventing gum disease: Good Oral Hygiene Good oral hygiene is one of the keys to preventing gum disease. The mouth is filled with disease– causing bacteria. Brushing and flossing helps prevent bacteria and plaque from building up in your mouth. You should brush your twice every day. Ideally, you should brush in the morning and before going to bed. You should spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth. You will need to floss daily. Flossing helps loosen and remove food particles and bacteria. Professionals have debated about whether it is best to floss before or after you brush. However, it does not matter whether or not you floss before you brush. As long as you are flossing and brushing regularly, your oral health will greatly benefit it. You should consider using an anti–plaque mouthwash after you brush and floss. The mouthwash can help eliminate the bacteria and plaque that may be left behind. It also helps prevent cavities. • 3. Obesity : A Common And Serious Public Health Problem Obesity is classified as one of the extremely common and serious public health problems in the world. Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading global risks of mortality in the world (World Health Organization, 2009). Furthermore, they are one of the major factors of for a number of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer (World Health Organization, 2005). According to NHS UK, obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more for adults, and the UK 1990 growth reference curves are used to define obesity for Children (Cole TJ, Freeman JV, Preece MA, 1995). The growing challenge of obesity of Europe countries is remarkable among Asian countries .In 2008, 1.4 billion adults (35%) aged 20 and over were overweight and 500 million were obese (11%). More than 40 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2012(World Health Organization, 2014). That is the global obesity situation. Furthermore, the obesity problem in the UK is not optimistic, the UK has the highest obesity rates among Europe countries, and this trend has strikingly increased over the recent years to the point where more than 20% of the population are now obese. (University of Birmingham, 2014) However, the obesity situation in Singapore is more worrisome. In 2010, 40% adults aged 18 to 69 were overweight and 10% were obese which is more than double the level seen in 1992. (Ministry of Health Singapore, 2010) This essay will ... • 4. A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of everyday conversation. However, the "migration phenomenon" is not a new one but can be traced as far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the circumstances surrounding one's migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from the political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are left with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when acclimating to a new environment. In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures, films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends. A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self–esteem and a sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual's well–being. As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group. However, intersectional identities exist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Bullying Is A Common Problem Bullying is a common problem. Bullying is very negative and creates bigger problems for society. Since many people don`t take bullying serious, they are often left shocked and confused when an incident occurs as a result of bullying. This essay is about dealing with bullying and one teens desparate struggle to deal with the issue; which ultimately led to her suicide at the age of 15. There are many forms of bullying. Two types of bullying that Amanda experienced was emotional bullying, which includes spreading rumors, manipulating social relationships, or engaging in social exclusion, extortion, or intimidation and physical bullying which involves hitting, kicking, spitting, pushing, and taking personal belongings. The second form of bullying is sexual bullying, which involves sexual harassment and sexual abuse. (Regoli, Hewitt, & Delisi,2014). There are many emotions experienced, when someone is bullied. Despite the fact, it might not show intially, a lot could be going on internally. As a result of being bullied Amanda experienced anxiety, major depression, and panic disorder. She handled with it by revolving to drugs, alcohol, and sex. In return, she suffered more pain and cause damaged to herself, as she struggled to be accepted by her peers, find someone who cares, and just to mean something to someone. • 6. Obesity : A Common Problem Obesity is a common problem in America that continues to increase throughout the years. It is a problem because of the life threatening side effects that are posed to a lot of individuals. A lot of blame is placed on the laziness of the modern times. People are getting lazy and don't go outside or have any form of exercise anymore. Meanwhile, there are fast food chains catering to these people, continuing to increase everywhere people go. It is common knowledge that fast food is not healthy. Unhealthy foods are lot cheaper than the cheaper foods people can be consuming instead. In addition to prices, fast food is also a lot quicker to attain. These low prices and easy access are what attract people to the food and keep them coming back and in turn, contributing to the factors of weight gain in the country. This is why there is a large debate on how food industries are to blame for the increased food consumption leading to weight gain. There are many factors involved when it comes to obesity, but whether fast food or individual responsibility is to blame will be analyzed. The measure of body fat are usually categorized under the classifications of either underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obese. This is based on the body mass index of individuals, which is a measure derived from a person's mass and height. Having a BMI of above 25 would be considered overweight. Becoming overweight and obesity occurs when the intake of calories is greater than the calories burned. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Is Sloth Not A Common Problem? In this modern day, most people would look at the word, sloth, and immediately define it as laziness; but it takes our own willfulness to act as such. We might not see it that way, but sloth is not just doing nothing– or being lazy, no, sloth can and does happen when one is too busy doing a great many other tasks other that what we need to do– distraction a common problem in today's society. We are too busy to focus on what matters because "our hectic lives are examples of the narcotic effect of acedia among us, the "spiritual morphine" that Norris wrote about. All this activity is a way of coping with pain" (Senkbeil, 2014). Sloth itself is a sort of neglect, it keeps one from their priorities, disguising itself as the great many other commitments that must be completed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Keeping busy, because they would otherwise be perceived as lazy or slothful is not the answer; "We are constantly busy; we can't possibly be accused of being slothful or lazy" (Senkbeil)! But note that according to McMartin, "both laziness and workaholism can be potential symptoms of the deeper spiritual vice of acedia" (2013) but not sloth itself. "We miss opportunities because of wrong investment. This leads to emptiness (in our life, mind, and soul). Then it leads to consequence, which leads to excuses. We make excuses and give in to circumstance, which empowers our situation and disempowers us" (Gilligan, 2016)! Instead there must be a diligent effort to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way to tell if someone is obese or overweight is by a BMI, which stands for body mass index. Being overweight is defined as having a BMI that is at or above the 85th percentile to the 95th percentile for children and teens. Some blame can be put onto parents if they do not lead their children into an active healthy lifestyle. Many children tend to either live a vigorously active lifestyle or sedentary lifestyle, which is greatly influenced by their parents. A bad habit in diet can also induce the chances of childhood obesity. For example, "Beverages such as sugar–sweetened beverages (SSBs) and whole–fat milks are leading sources of added sugars and solid fats, respectively, in the diets of US children and contribute nearly one–fifth of total caloric intake." (Ford and Popkin, 47–53) This explains how many sugary drinks are incorporated into young children 's diets and can be very unhealthy for them. Most children love sugary drinks, but these drinks can have a negative impact on their diet causing them to gain unwanted excess weight. One way to help this is by monitoring the amount of sugar a day they consume. For example, "One of the best strategies to reduce childhood obesity is to improve the eating and exercise habits of your entire family." (Sandhya) This shows how small changes in children 's diets and lifestyle could result in many beneficial outcomes for children who suffer from this. Childhood obesity has received many efforts of improvement, but hasn't had enough results. Many businesses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Atrial Fibrillation : A Common Problem ABSTRACT Atrial fibrillation is a common problem, with over 2 million people affected in the United States. Atrial fibrillation causes substantial morbidity and mortality, with an increased risk of ischemic stroke. Thus, it is important to recognize the risk factors associated with the disease to prevent it from occurring. In this review, being overweight and obese is positively correlated with increased risk of developing atrial fibrillation in both men and women. This review suggests that the excess risk of atrial fibrillation associated with obesity may be caused by the left atrial remodeling and enlargement caused by the excess adipose tissue, hemodynamic overload, and adipokines inflammatory response. This data raises the possibility that interventions to promote normal weight may reduce the burden of atrial fibrillation in the current and future population. A few of the recognized risk factors for atrial fibrillation are male sex, increasing age, hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and heart valve disease (13). It has been known for more than 75 years that a critical mass of atrial tissue is necessary for atrial fibrillation to occur and left atrial enlargement is also an important precursor of atrial fibrillation (3). Several studies have shown that BMI is one of the most powerful determinants of the left atrial size needed for developing atrial fibrillation (3), so getting BMI lowered by exercise and a good diet should be of high priority ... • 12. How Divorce Is A Common Family Problem Essay Part I: Addressing Divorce in a Family Context Divorce is a common family problem faced by fifty percent of American families today (source). No–fault divorce gave rise to divorce rates as the divorce rate doubled from 1960–1980 (source). Approximately half of children born to married parents in the 1970s compared to only about eleven percent in the 1950s (source). Research also demonstrates that African Americans are more likely to divorce than Anglos as approximately one– half of first marriages end within ten years as compared to one–third of first marriages of Anglos. Foreign–born Hispanic/Latinos marriages are less likely to end than Anglo marriages (source). U.S. born Hispanic/Latinos tend to have higher levels of martial instability than Anglos but lower than African Americans (source). Research also shows that social class or economic disadvantage appears to play a role in producing Anglo and African American differences in marriage and divorce (source). Events leading up to divorce can be stressful and for some families, they may already be facing a crisis before the actual divorce. Marriages that end in divorce typically begin a process of unraveling, estrangement, or emotional separation years before the legal divorce actually happens. During the course of the marriage one or both marital partners may begin to feel alienated from the other. Conflicts or tension with each other and with the children may intensify, become more frequent, and often go unresolved. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Common Problems Faced by International Students in the UK In the last few years, studying abroad has become an increasingly popular choice for higher education among international students (Accessibility Navigation, 2014). An average of 10% of students in universities all across the UK are international students from countries all over the world. (Accessibility Navigation, 2014). Although the experience is different for each individual student, there are many common problems that international students face. Those problems include: culture shock to varying degrees coupled with emotional issues(Bailey, 2005), Language barriers along with other communication problems (Sherry et al, 2009), and academic problems due to a change in school curriculum (Ramachandran, 2011). It can be argued that if international students are given accurate information on what to expect, the culture shock can be minimised or avoided(Sherry et al, 2009). Instead of limiting the orientation experience to getting a geographical and academic feel of the campus, the students should also be given the opportunity to have a supervised cultural feel of their new country of study (Turner, 2009). Another solution that has been suggested is that the institution organise more formalised social interaction (Sherry et al, 2009). Instead of leaving students solely to their own devices where making new friends and meeting people in their new community is involved, the institution can organise events and activities that group students from different parts of the world together (Sherry et al, 2009). A common suggestion is that social clubs be put in place to bridge the gap between international students and other students on campus. One main focus of these social clubs would be to improve the social interaction and verbal communication skills of international students (Sherry et al, 2009). The social clubs could also be a way for the international students to overcome the language barrier (Sherry et al, 2009). Feedback and past data from international students on the steps taken by the institution to promote integration could also be helpful in setting precedent for other action to stem from (Sherry et al, 2009). ... • 16. Sleep Deprivation Is A Common Problem Intricate human bodies are much like carefully crafted machines. Each function has a purpose, and each need has a particular function. And, much like a machine, bodies can replenish their power, repair themselves, and fail and break down. One particular necessity for human bodies is sleep, and if not acquired, numerous complications can emerge. Sleep deprivation is a common problem that is all too often overlooked as a mere loss of a night's rest. What most people do not realize is the potential problems sleep deprivation can cause. From undesired grouchiness and uninhibited yawns, to constant illness and a failing mental state, sleep deprivation is condition that is nothing to be taken lightly. In fact, it can cause an otherwise healthy person to slowly shut down and break, just as a machine does without power. Sleep deprivation is simply the state of not having enough sleep. It can affect anybody, and has become an ever increasing peril in today's world. Consequently, "according to the National Sleep Foundation's inaugural Sleep Health Index™," as of December, 2014, " Forty–five percent of Americans say that poor or insufficient sleep affected their daily activities at least once in the past seven days," To fully understand Sleep deprivation though, the knowledge of the process of sleeping must be obtained. • 38. A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a "portion of heaven." According to Isaac Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the vehicles to God. He said: "...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so much taken with them (Schwanda 1)." Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of Christ.
