5 Important Events in U.S. History
There have been many important events in our history that have happened and are going to happen. I believe that these five are the most important
starting with number one as being the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This document declared that the American colonists would be
independent from Great Britain and separate from them. From the French and Indian War to the Revolutionary War, the British treated the colonists
badly. They would tax them on everything, not allow them to be represented in the British government, known as Parliament, and many other things.
The Declaration of Independence, which was written mostly by Thomas Jefferson, changed all this. The colonists were able to completely separate
from Great Britain and be independent on their own. Without this document, we Americans would still be controlled by Great Britain, and still be
"British" citizens. The next important event is when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech during the March on Washington. The
speech was made to end racism in the United States, and so that blacks and whites can be equal and live among each other. Before this, black people
were treated like slaves and more like animals than people, and the whites seemed to have all of the power. King wanted his children to go to school
where they wouldn`t be "judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character". Martin Luther King`s speech did come true, and

Everyone has different personality traits. These affect how we react to people, important decisions, and situations. You are shaped by your family, and
your education. In Bod's early childhood, he was raised and taught by the different dead people in the graveyard. Bod's life starts resembling his
family, friends, and education. He tends to take on attributes of the dead people he meets in the graveyard. However, fortunately for Bod he has human
interactions with people outside of the graveyard. Bod's human interactions with Scarlett, Abanazer Bolger, and the bullies at school give him more
characteristics of life than death in Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. Bod's first human interaction was with Scarlett Perkins. "She was a little
older than he was, a little taller, and was dressed in bright colors, yellow and pink and orange."(40) Scarlett was Bod's first exposure to life since
he was a toddler. Bod gained many human characteristics that he learned from being friends with Scarlett. She first introduced color to Bod's life
by wearing bright colored clothes. Bod wore a grey winding sheet that made him feel dowdy and drab. Later in the novel, Silas brings Bod home some
real clothes. "Silas produced a grey sweater the color of Bod's winding sheet, a pair of jeans, underwear, and shoes–pale green sneakers."(148) Silas
gets Bod normal, living peoples' clothes which are a characteristic of life. His shoes are also pale green, which is the first thing with color Bod owned.

Sputnik And The Space Race
On October 4, 1957, the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union commenced in a sudden, explosive fashion. The Soviet Union
launched 'Sputnik', humanity's very first artificial satellite, into outer space. Sputnik, meaning 'fellow traveler' in Russian, is now synonymous with the
Cold War and the Space Race. Sputnik's purpose was twofold – the first reason was purely to beat the U.S. to outer space. However, Sputnik had
scientific reasons to be in space as well. The Soviet Union determined five objectives for Sputnik to accomplish during her time in space: 1. Test the
method of placing an artificial satellite into Earth's orbit, 2. Provide information on the density of the atmosphere by calculating its lifetime in orbit, 3.
Test radio and optical methods of orbital tracking, 4. Determine the effects of radio wave propagation through the atmosphere, and 5. Check principles
of pressurization used on satellites. When the Soviet Union beat the United States by launching something into space first, the U.S. reaction was
palpable. Public fear and anxiety spread throughout the nation, along with a sense of nationalism and pride. The United States must answer with a
launch, or face humiliation and defeat.
The United States answered the Soviets during the new year of 1958. The new year saw the launch of Explorer I, the creation of NASA, and the

The citizens of Anthem are not happy and until society changes, they can never be. Quality of life is having something to live for and human condition
is actively looking for it for yourself. In Anthem, government tells the citizens what to believe and how to think, making it impossible for them to have
an authentic quality of life. The government taught them that their lives are disposable and do not have much value. This decreases of life because
these people cannot achieve true happiness due to the ideologies they follow unquestionably and trust. They do not have anything to live for save
existence itself and they do not understand how much they are affected by that. Decreasing quality of life because of blind beliefs in a society's
ideologies is just as bad as these people being taken advantage of by their system of government.
The citizens of Anthem are consistently being used by the government because they choose to ignorantly believe their society's opinions. At the end of
the story when Equality tries to analyze why his society is so corrupted, he summarizes his thoughts by writing "What is freedom? Freedom from what?

20% of the world are convinced that the Apollo 11 moon–landing in July 20, 1969 was faked. For the past several decades, a small group of
NASA–watching sleuths has repeatedly tried to pawn off the incredulous idea that the Apollo Moon program really was an elaborate, $30 billion hoax
filmed in a movie studio. This group believes the United States needed to cement its world leadership during the Cold War by pretending to pull off
what really was a technologically impossible stunt (Villard, 2004). If actor Orson Welles was able to convince over one million Americans that
martians were invading Earth, there's no doubt the more–powerful government could persuade U.S. citizens and keep the entire moon landing hoax a
secret.
Conspiracy theorists pointed out when the first moon landing was shown on live television, viewers could clearly see the American flag waving and
fluttering as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin planted it. Photos of the landing also seem to show rippling in a breeze, such as the image above which
clearly shows a fold in the flag. The obvious problem here is that there's no air in the moon's atmosphere, and therefore no wind to cause the flag to
blow (Fox, 2012).
The claim goes as follows: had NASA really landed us on the moon, there would be a blast crater underneath the lunar module to mark its landing. On

In 1969, the Apollo 11 launch happened and became something rightfully important to the United States. It was the talk of every news stations and
newspapers. These two men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had risked their lives to do something the whole world had not done before. They
became the first men to walk the moon and this became something historical. After walking the moon, they placed the American flag on it too, and
to this day it is still there. With all the newspapers talking about this, one that caught people's eyes was the Man Takes First Steps on The Moon.
The audience was the people who were concerned about the first man landing on outer space. This was something abnormal at the time and nobody
really had a clue how a human body can manage this. Also, this event was used to see the improvement of human success and what they have been
capable of doing. Regarding space, it wasn't something that was really used, it was more like an illusion and seemed so close but far away at the
same time. This text used ethos, and logos to support information about the moon's successful landing and provide it for the audience. For logos, the

Kaze No Denwa Short Story
Kaze No Denwa
It is April 11, 2011, and one month has passed since the great Japanese tsunami splintered the island. In a small coastal village, a man parks his car
at a distance and walks towards the only object in a large field: Kaze No Denwa, the "Phone of the Wind." Tears begin to well in his eyes as he feels
the gentle breeze wash over him. His shoes crunch the loose gravel underfoot. On this day, there is no–one else around.
In the middle of the field stands a white phone booth. It glows boldly in the bright afternoon sunlight. The man walks along a winding path through
low–cut, manicured underbrush. He reaches the phone booth, slides open the door, and enters. He takes his time, looks around, and finally picks up
the receiver from atop an old–fashioned black rotary phone. He places a finger into a small circle at his desired number, gently spins clockwise,
releases, and repeats nine times. The phone in Kaze No Denwa is connected to nothing; there is no electricity here, no dial tone even, but the man is not
surprised.
"If you can hear me," he says, "please listen carefully."
He stops, looks around the tiny phone box, and sobs, wiping the tears from his eyes with a sleeve.
"Please, let me hear your voice say 'Daddy' again." He covers his eyes with the sleeve and gently whispers, "I'm so sorry I couldn't save you. I will
forever be sorry and shamed." His head falls, his eyes close.
His name is Satsuko. He has travelled far to visit Kaze No Denwa. The great tsunami has brought havoc and, with it, many lives have gone to that
place where spirits reside. Sadness has punctuated the land, and Satsuko is in its midst. His face and demeanour are altered. Kaze No Denwa, the
Phone of the Wind is becoming well–known. Its back–story and sentiment have resonated with the people.
He read about it in a magazine published the year prior; the story of an old man's burning wish, long before the tsunami, to communicate with his
deceased relative. A phone booth was set in the middle of a field tilled by hand and hoe for generations, a place for the old man to air his grief, where
his breath could catch the wind and set out across the field, down the cliff face, and across the vast blue Pacific.

Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre–writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get
the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory
regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make
sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life
lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count,
grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to
eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my
audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach
where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove
the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and
proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since
I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured
me that the paper was sensible.

The Flowers By Alice Walker Essay
Alice Walker shows Myops innocence and subsequent loss thereof through her usage of vivid imagery as well as the small setting and symbolism
in "The Flowers". Myop's sudden exposure to the harsh reality of racism surrounding her shatters her innocence. The tone of the short story changes
abruptly showcasing the main characters shift in how she sees the world. For she is suddenly and violently thrust into a world in which skin color
dictates how others in society will treat her. There is a clear switch in tone in "The Flowers" as Myop is exposed to the world outside her home. The
initial tone of the short story is carefree and child–like. Though the perspective of the story is third person omniscient initially, it is still evident that we
are viewing the story through a child's lens. The young protagonist skips "lightly from hen house to pigpen to smokehouse" showing that she is
happy, excited even, to enjoy the natural setting weaved around her. As Myop explores, it becomes evident that her family's financial situation is less
than ideal. Wandering towards the woods, she leaves behind the "rusty boards of her family's sharecropper cabin" (Walker). Now with little else to
weave a setting in the reader's mind one can already picture the scene as well as the time period. Very little is written about the setting outside of the
family home and the surrounding woods. This supports the childlike tone of the beginning of the story as a young child would not have experienced the

Summary Of 'Ambush ',Contents Of The Dead Man's Pockets'
In the three stories "Ambush", "The Leap", and "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets" had many similarities and differences. These similarities
and differences were found in the characters, conflicts, and settings of the stories. Each element impacts the stories in so many similar and
different ways. In "Ambush", "The Leap", and "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets" the characters had a major impact on even the simplest
details. "...and as he passed me on the trail I threw a grenade at his feet and killed him." This is a quote from "Ambush" which showed that the
main character in the story made the decision to kill a man, which would later affect his feelings. In the story "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
the main character Tom did multiple things to affect the story. One of these things are, "Now, balanced easily and firmly, he stood on the ledge
outside in the slight, chill breeze, eleven stories above the street, staring into his own lighted apartment, odd and different seeming now." Tom did
this because of a paper that blew out of his window, that could have possibly got him a promotion. Him being out on this ledge later impacted his
feelings and other parts of the story. In "The Leap" the narrator told stories of her mother's past and how she used her past career to overcome
cataracts and save the narrators life. The stories that the narrator tells affects the way she feels and thinks about her mother. An example of this is," It

The United States has utilized innovations and technological advancements to solidify its position as a global superpower. One of the greatest
accomplishments the United States can claim is to have put a man on the moon in 1969. In describing the impact of the moon landing, historian Arthur

corner. The viewer is driving blindly into Thomas's story and will have to make conclusions based on separate pieces of information. They are further
separated from Thomas because Antonioni gives us permission to figuratively judge him by literally looking down at him. Thomas's ground position
suggests Thomas is a man who functions in human utility and even the viewer, who Antonioni does not know, is closer to reality than his character.

day. The purpose of these articles is also tremendously impacted by how the authors present the subject to the audience. Because the speaker of the
second article, Ayn Rand, was present in this particular occasion there is an intimate influence on the text from the speaker. Both of these texts appeal
to the audience with ethos considering they are both prevalent people in society. The President has automatic ethos, and the author also has ethos with
her position as a novelist. On top of that both articles appeal to the audience with logos because it is very logical that the nation would either be upset
and mourning the case of a loss, or the nation would be jubilant and elated with the successful landing on the moon. Lastly, the articles appeal to pathos
in that they trap the american hearts with either sadness or happiness. The articles hook into the reader's emotion through talking about families
mourning and using figurative language about the image of the launch. Both of these texts are equally effective in completing their purposes.
Furthermore, the purpose in these two articles are completely variant, but they still have similarities. The first article, "In Event of Moon Disaster,"is
just the President trying to comfort the American people and maybe even those who have theoretically died. The President is reaching out and
reassuring his people that America will not give up, and that these two men were not lost in vain. These two men willingly made a sacrifice which lead

Hello everyone! I am here with you today speaking on behalf of NASA. I have worked at NASA for sometime now and have been asked to speak to
students on the 48th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. As most people know, President John F. Kennedy challenged us to put a man on the moon
on May 25, 1961. With this challenge, President Kennedy hoped to surpass the Soviet Union in the so called, "space race.". The Soviet Union had
already launched the first person into space, causing widespread embarrassment in the U.S. We refused to take another loss to the Soviet Union. The
first step of this mission was creating the team. Neil Armstrong was a pilot in the military, studied at Purdue university, and fought in the Korean War.
In the Korean War, where he proved himself to be a talented pilot. Most of you may think this was why he was chosen for theApollo 11 mission,
because he was the most qualified, most trained, and most capable, right? Armstrong being chosen was luck of the draw. He was the only Apollo
commander who wasn't currently serving in the military. Also, Deke Slayton, the head of the Apollo mission, had a rotating system for missions. There
were six three man teams; one team would be the backup for one mission, then three missions later they would be the main crew. According to the
rotating schedule, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins would accompany Armstrong in space on the Apollo 11 mission. With a mission as watched as the
Apollo mission, an unimaginable amount of prep was needed. Armstrong and the other astronauts rehearsed every second of their mission countless
times. They practiced in every setting imaginable– indoors, outdoors, in space suits, underwater, in planes, in centrifuges, in pools, in the ocean.
Anywhere we could think of, Armstrong and the crew rehearsed. Because no man had ever been on the moon before, we weren't sure exactly what

  • 1. 5 Important Events in U.S. History There have been many important events in our history that have happened and are going to happen. I believe that these five are the most important starting with number one as being the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This document declared that the American colonists would be independent from Great Britain and separate from them. From the French and Indian War to the Revolutionary War, the British treated the colonists badly. They would tax them on everything, not allow them to be represented in the British government, known as Parliament, and many other things. The Declaration of Independence, which was written mostly by Thomas Jefferson, changed all this. The colonists were able to completely separate from Great Britain and be independent on their own. Without this document, we Americans would still be controlled by Great Britain, and still be "British" citizens. The next important event is when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech during the March on Washington. The speech was made to end racism in the United States, and so that blacks and whites can be equal and live among each other. Before this, black people were treated like slaves and more like animals than people, and the whites seemed to have all of the power. King wanted his children to go to school where they wouldn`t be "judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character". You are shaped by your family, and your education. In Bod's early childhood, he was raised and taught by the different dead people in the graveyard. Bod's life starts resembling his family, friends, and education. He tends to take on attributes of the dead people he meets in the graveyard. However, fortunately for Bod he has human interactions with people outside of the graveyard. Bod's human interactions with Scarlett, Abanazer Bolger, and the bullies at school give him more characteristics of life than death in Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. Bod's first human interaction was with Scarlett Perkins. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense.
