1. Reception Home Learning
Week
(Monday 27th-Friday 1st May)
These slide will contains all the areas of learning to focus on at home. We have listed
a couple of activities for each area, these can be spread out across the week. We
would love to see all the fun activities you have been up to on Tapestry. We will
comment and respond on your observations.
All activities have been put on to Tapestry with more information.
We are looking forward to sharing your learning on Tapestry.
2. Phonics/Reading
Please read with your child every day. You can use the Oxford Owl site to access free ebooks. www.oxfordowl.co.uk we
will also publish one book a week at your child's phonic level on tapestry for your child to read.
Task 1- encourage your child to read the book published on tapestry. This is now in a video format so pause on each
page.
Task 2-Sight word teaching. We will recap on the sight words already taught and look at some new words.
Handwriting- follow the handwriting video, this weeks letters will be the curly caterpillar set d, q/qu and s. Please practise
these in your books. I would love to see a photo too.
3. Close Read
This week’s close read is “Funny Bones”
The book is on Tapestry for you to read with your child. We have shared half of
this book during our close read sessions.
There is a series of questions underneath the book for you to ask your child. You
can either comment on the observation with your child’s answers or create a new
observation.
4. Writing
We are looking at the story called the ‘Gruffalo’
Mrs Bridge has posted a video on tapestry of the
story, then there is a series of tasks for you to
complete.
5. Maths
This week we are revisiting taking away or subtraction. We had just
started this concept as lockdown had started, so you might find your child
can’t remember much! We hadn’t really practised it!
The most important thing is that your child has a go at accurate counting
to create a set or group. Then if you ask them to take away can your child
take the correct amount out and say how many are left.
Read the advice on Tapestry and see if you can build up through the
pictures- it might take a few days to work through in small chunks. Have
fun!
6. PE
Mrs Loud has set some time challenges. Can you beat the clock?
Some of the physical activities include running, jumping and star jumps.
How many can you do in 20 seconds?
7. Arts and Crafts
Miss Howlett has share her family salt dough creation. She has included a
recipe for you to follow to create the dough. This is a great keepsake. One I’m
definitely going to try with my family.

always reply to your observations.

Please dip in and out of them as you wish. The tasks are weekly and you can
complete them at your own pace. As we adjust to this new way of working I’m
sure we will all develop our own routine.
Please complete the survey in the link above so we can see how we can
support you and your child/ren with their home learning.
If you have any questions about the tasks you can message on Tapestry or
contact us at Reception@ashcombeprimary.co.uk
We miss you all and hope to be reunited soon! Keep safe and stay in touch
