In Project 2 you will:
 You will start work on your own songs
 You will be given a performance date
 You will compose to picture
 You will compose electronic music
 You will have freedom to develop compositions
 But group work is essential and using people’s strengths to
produce your best possible piece

 Think about the instruments
 What is the structure of the song ?
 Does it repeat much?
 Does the song have louder and quieter parts ?
 How does it end ? Suddenly or fading out?
 What ideas could you take from this song to put in your own group’s
Why does my heart by MOBY
 Listen to how this piece starts and the build up
 He uses repeated chords Am, Em, G, D,
 He has vocal samples and has added backing and live singers
 He uses piano bass and string sounds but all on the computer
Project 2 What you NEED to decide
 What will your song be about?
 Lyrics can be added later
 Or, you can start with them !
 Ask, will you build up the music form a repeated pattern ( riff) on
piano or bass sound or a drum rhythm?
 Will you have lead and backing singers ?
 Who will play what ?
 Will you use Logic entirely for the electronic track or add samples
& ‘live’ elements ?
 If you haven’t started, do so by answering these questions
Project 2 LIVE TRACK - Group Members
 What would you ideally like to use & instruments ?
 What theme or mood will your song have ?
 Can you already decide on lead (and backing) vocalists ?
 Write down any starting ideas
