The Civil War started in 1861and ended on 1865
Some of the causes of the war were…
1. Slavery (It means: One bound in servitude as the property of
a person or household)
2. State Rights (It means: a doctrine that federal powers should
be curtailed and returned to the individual states)
3. Self-Government (It means: Government of a country by its
own people, esp. after having been a colony)
There were two sides in the battle the Northern and the Southern
side. Though some of the people fighting in the battles were
foreigners. Most of the foreigners were from Germany, Irish,
Canadians, and English. There were also some foreigners on the
Southern side like the Irish, Germans, British, French, Poles, and
Canadians.
Some of the places the war took place in the USA were…
• Virginia
• Louisiana
• Tennessee
• Mississippi
• Maryland
• Pennsylvania
• Georgia
• Arkansas
• North Carolina
• Florida
• Virginia
The American Civil War, also known as the War Between the
States or simply the Civil War, was a Civil War fought from 1861
to 1865 in the United States after several Southern slave states
declared their secession and formed the Confederate States of
America (the "Confederacy" or the "South"). The states that
remained were known as the "Union" or the "North". The war had
its origin in the fractious issue of slavery, especially the extension
of slavery into the western territories. Foreign powers did not
intervene. After four years of bloody combat that left over
600,000 soldiers dead and destroyed much of the South's
infrastructure, the Confederacy collapsed, slavery was abolished,
and the difficult Reconstruction process of restoring national unity
and guaranteeing rights to the freed slaves began.
