School Phones In School
Do you every wonder what children do at school with their phones? There are lots of conflicts at school involving students with their phone. Students
will get their cellular device taken away if they have them out during learning periods. Pupils are gorilla glued to their phones. Many school across
North America have issues with phones. Will students learn not to have their phones out during school? Students should worry about their phones
being taken away and concentrate on their work. Phones are bad for school and can be used to do horrible things by students.
Phones can distract students from doing their work. Texting, social media, and games are the main distractions on phones. Everyday the students are
texting in class. They get an update on the texts that come in. It upsets teachers to see that their students do not pay attention. Jeff is a bad student. He
is always texting in class. The teacher is always getting on to him. Social Media is the same, but the majority of the students are on it all the time.
They go online to see what other people are doing, and they comment on them. The get updates saying John got a yacht, or Jenny got a boyfriend. Can
you take me with you John. Good luck to you and your boyfriend. Games is third on the distraction list. Games are downloaded onto the phone. All are
loud, and most of them are violent. When the teacher is in their desk, some students will play on their phone. They mute the phone so the teacher can't
hear it. Jesus plays

Roman Colosseum Research Paper
One of the most important things to understanding Rome is their fixation with violence and war. Without an understanding of why and how the
Romans had such extremely violent games in the Colosseum it is incredibly difficult to comprehend Roman culture and the motives of their actions.
The cause and effects of the Roman Colosseum come about after the Punic wars. Roman culture is also very interesting because it in some ways is
opposite to our own. The importance of the gladiatorial games can be seen during the Pax Romana, also known as Roman peace, started by emperor
Augustus in 31 BC in which Rome did not embark on a real war until AD 14. The point of the war scale gladiator battles was to keep the memory of
warrior traditions alive and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ordinary people also had to wear white togas if they wanted a seat in the bottom two tiers. Citizens were spread out depending on various factors, with
bachelors and married men sitting in different blocks, as well as women and poor men standing near the top. As time went on gladiatorial fights were
substituted for chariot–races, this came about in 42 BC at the earliest. The gladiatorial shows eventually became official careers, they were a
obligation of the officers of state and were paid for by the taxes. Emperor Augustus put limits on the gladiatorial shows, making one hundred and
twenty the maximum gladiators at a show and only two regular showings in a year. The main motive for his limiting of gladiatorial shows was to
restrict the amount of time aristocrats had to court the general populous. Over time as new Emperors came to power the restrictions were gradually
lowered. This gave rise to aristocrats competing over political success and prestige by holding shows and giving away free items at these shows. The
Emperor himself held the most spectacular of shows such as Trajan to celebrate the conquest of Dacia in 108 AD. During a showing in 64 AD, the
roman reverence for Christianity was once again

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire Essay
The Romans were on one of the greatest people of all. They had power, wealth, and even a half of the world. They built one of the strongest and vast
empire that world has ever seen. They came from nothing to something awesome. It started of as a city and ended up being one of the greatest empire
of all. This essay is going to focus on the Roman Empire from the rise to the fall and the government, architecture, mythology, Family Structure, and
Food of the Romans.
As the story goes, Rome was founding in 753 B.C. by two brothers Remus and Romulus who were raised by wolves. The two brothers started fighting
over the leadership of the land. Eventually Romulus killed Remus and took control own his own. The city was only a small settlement ... Show more

The empire lasted for another 500 years until AD 476. During the first two centuries AD the empire flourished and added new territories, notably
ancient Britain, Arabia, and Dacia (present–day Romania). People from the Roman provinces came to Rome, where they became soldiers, bureaucrats,
senators, and even emperors. Rome developed into the social, economic, and cultural capital of the Mediterranean world. Despite the attention given to
tyrant and other vicious leaders, most emperors ruled sensibly and competently until military and economic disasters brought on the political instability
of the 3rd century A.D.
The Romans are famous for many things. One thing is their adaptation and development of architecture from other civilization. From the Etruscans and
early tribes the Romans got most of their basic architectural skills. From the Greeks some components of Roman architecture were adapted from the
Greeks. The heart of Roman architecture was the Roman forum, which was being constructed under the rule of Octavian Caesar. Eventually the Roman
architecture went into a stage in which all the buildings looked like the Greek buildings.
The Romans were polytheistic. The Roman religion believed in many gods. They had similar beliefs to the Greek gods, but also big differences. The
Roman mythology was to consist of twelve to thirteen main gods. Each of the gods has a function in the life of an everyday Roman that would require
some sort of worshipping. The

An Errand of Beauty
Dearest Marcellina Avitus,
I'm afraid I must be again the bearer of bad news my dear sister. After bringing yours and Lucanus' petitions to my own husband, and then to our local
Aedile last week, I had no such luck in having them answered. I thought perhaps, with my noble blood and the respected Patrician name of my
husband I could perhaps get an audience with our beloved Emperor. So, there I was last week, walking through the streets of Rome, my
ladies–in–waiting all aflutter around me, dodging Plebian neighborhoods like a plague from the gods, following whispers from strolling senators in
their bright white togas. My only mission was to find our emperor Trajan and command to have your petitions answered.
However, as you know dear sister, I am easily distracted by the wondrous beauties the gods have bestowed upon our great city. Sister, have you ever
actually taken the time to look at the beauty around you? I know there is not much where you reside on the outskirts of town, but next time you go to
the market, please do. In fact, visit the markets outside of Emperor Trajan's forum the next time you come further into the city.
Can you imagine two whole levels of market stalls? Each one with more and more goods to purchase, by the gods it is a sight to behold sister. I had to
send one of ladies–in–waiting to run home and fetch more slaves just to be able to carry back the abundance of luxury items I purchased from one of
the first floor shops, located just beneath a

Trajan’s Forum: The Hub of Early Roman Society Essay
Trajan's Forum: The Hub of Early Roman Society The Roman Empire can arguably be considered one of the greatest ancient civilizations. From
Augustus to Constantine, the Romans brought both new and borrowed ideas into the world. With influence from the Greeks, the Romans established a
representative government with the Emperor and the Senate as the main law–making and law–enforcing bodies. The Roman Empire grew prosperous
and, with military expeditions, expanded as west as modern day Britain and as east the lands near the Caspian Sea. With the Empire expanding into
what is now known as Israel, Christianity spread to Rome and, under Constantine, was established as a legal religion under the Edict of Milan in 313.

Under the emperor Domitian, Trajan served as a legatus legionis, or leader of the local Roman army in Spain. After supporting Domitian in a revolt
in 89, Trajan gained popularity by the Roman Senate and was soon adopted by the heirless emperor, Nerva. Merely two years after Nerva's
adoption of Trajan, Nerva died and Trajan attained the throne of the Roman Empire. Under Trajan's rule, the Roman Empire expanded to its largest,
covering from the Atlantic Ocean to the Caspian Sea. By 106, the region of Dacia (present day Romania) had been conquered. It is Trajan's
campaigns in Dacia that are portrayed on his famous Column in the forum. The Forum of Trajan was constructed by the Greek architect Apollodorus
of Damascus near the forums of Augustus and Julius Caesar. Like many of his predecessors, Trajan built his forum in order to mark Rome as the
imperial center of the empire. The many fora with their marvelous feats of architecture were intended to be impressive to both the Roman citizens and
any outsiders. Within Trajan's Forum (Appendix Figure 1) stood the Basilica Ulpia, the Greek and Latin Libraries, the Column of Trajan, the Temple of
Trajan and Trajan's Markets. The complex follows an axial plan that leads from the Forum of Augustus, through an arch and into the Forum's courtyard
area. From the courtyard, the complex continues with the Basilica Ulpia, then

Domiti Emperor Of The Vespasian Dynasty
Domitian was a Roman emperor from 81 to 96, and was the third and last emperor of the Flavian dynasty. Domitian 's early career was spent in the
shadow of his brother Titus. This continued under the rule of his father Vespasian, who became emperor in 69 following the civil war, which is known
as the Year of the Four Emperors. WhileTitus held many offices under the rule of his father, Domitian received honors but no responsibilities. When
Vespasiandied in 79 he was succeeded by Titus, whose own reign came to an unexpected end when he was struck by a fatal illness in 81. The
following day Domitian was declared Emperor by the Praetorian Guard, beginning his reign that lasted fifteen years.

After Domitian died, the senate tried to erase all memory of his existence, while senatorial authors like Suetonius published histories making Domitian
seem like a cruel tyrant. Modern history has rejected these views, instead characterizing Domitian as a ruthless but efficient autocrat whose cultural,
economic and political program provided the foundation of the peaceful 2nd century.
Early Life
Domitian was born in Rome on October 24, 51, and was the youngest son of Titus Flavius Vespasianus, commonly known as Vespasian. He had an
older sister, Domitilla the Younger, and brother, also named Titus Flavius Vespasianus. The Flavians rose to prominence in just four generations,
acquiring wealth and status under the emperors of the Julio–Claudian dynasty. Domitian 's great–grandfather, Titus Flavius Petro, had served as a
centurion under Pompey during Caesar 's civil war. However, his military career ended in disgrace when he fled the battlefield at the Battle of
Pharsalus in 48 BC. Petro managed to improve his status by marrying the extremely wealthy Tertulla, whose fortune guaranteed the upwards mobility
of Petro 's son Titus Flavius Sabinus I, Domitian 's grandfather. Sabinus gained further wealth and possible equestrian status through his services as tax
collector in Asia and banker in Helvetia. By marrying Vespasia Polla he allied the Flavian family to the more prestigious gens Vespasia, ensuring the
elevation of his sons Titus Flavius Sabinus II and Vespasian to

Marcus Ulpius Trajanus : The Roman Emperor Trajan
Marcus Ulpius Trajanus, notoriously known as the Roman Emperor Trajan was born September 18, most likely in the year 52 AD of Spanish
origin. He was an educated man with a powerful, masculine figure. A bronze sculpture at Harvard University showcases his physique in
ceremonial armor standing as if addressing his troops. He possessed a true sense of dignity and humbleness which to the Romans made him an
emperor of true virtue. He was an emperor who truly enjoyed war; his passion for war came from the fact that he was very good at it. He was a
brilliant general, as shown by his military achievements. He was naturally very popular with the troops, especially due to his willingness to share in
the hardships alongside his soldiers. He came from an Umbrian family from Tuder in northern Italy which had chosen to settle in Spain. His father
was Marcus Ulpius Trajanus, a very prominent man in terms of government. He was the first of the to reach the office of senator, commanded the
Tenth Legion 'Fretensis ' in the Jewish War of 67–68 AD, and became consul around the year 70 AD. During the year 75 AD, he became governor of
Syria, one of the key military provinces in the empire. Later he also was to be governor of the provinces of Baetica and Asia. While his father was
governor of Syria, Trajan served as military tribune.

The Powerful Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was one of the most well known empires in history. It was the most powerful of all of the empires and covered at least a part of
over fifty present–day countries. It covered the most area out of all of the empires in history. Other than the Spartans, the Roman Empire had the most
powerful army of the ancient world and contained over 20% of the world population back then. The Roman's ingenuity created many inventions as well,
such as the arch, which, with aqueducts, would revolutionize the transport of water and other supplies across the empire. The Roman Empire was the

One main reason that the Roman Empire expanded so much was because of their many good emperors such as Trajan and his successor Hadrian.
Trajan was emperor of Rome from 98–117 CE and is considered one of the "Five Good Emperors" of Rome. One reason Trajan was considered such a
good emperor was because he was kind and generous to the Roman People and Senate. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that Rome
could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Trajan made sure that the poor were fed and cared for, and almost
everybody in his empire liked him. Aside from his kindness, Trajan was also recognized for his achievements in war and expanding Rome to its height
in 117 AD with 5 million square kilometers. Throughout Trajan's reign, he captured Dacia, or present–day Romania, and the Parthian Empire, or the
Persians with his skill in fighting. Following Trajan's death in 117, Hadrian rose to the throne. Hadrian is considered another one of the "five good
emperors" of Rome, except Hadrian was different than Trajan in that he unified and consolidated Rome rather than seize more land as Trajan had.
Rather than expand the Empire, Hadrian ruled justly and traveled around his empire and rectified tax situations. Hadrian is most well known for
building a wall across Britain to keep out barbarians called Hadrian's Wall. Although these emperors helped maintain the Roman

Romanians will go to the utmost extreme of providing extravagant food, entertainment, and ceremonies. Before the wedding, the groom will visit
the house of the bride to bring her to the place where the wedding will be held. All of the many people involved in the wedding then proceed in
their cars to the wedding. Typically, they will drive leisurely and will honk at pedestrians to cheer for the couple. Once the procession reaches the
place of the wedding, which will usually be an Orthodox church, the priest will lead the people into the main auditorium for the ceremony. The
ceremony itself, which is comprised of the priest blessing the couple, reading from the Bible, and singing, could take up to three hours. After the
ceremony, the couple drinks from the same glass of wine and eat the same piece of bread to symbolize unity. After the couple is unified, they proceed
to visit the numerous pictures of Jesus and the saints and kiss them. Once the entire ceremony is over, the bride and groom normally take their guests
to a restaurant of some sort to have refreshments and entertainment. Some weddings go as far as buying fireworks and lighting them after midnight
symbolizing the first day of being married. This time of refreshing and entertainment could last between a weekend and a whole week. The final
tradition that is most prominent in Romanian culture is funerals. When someone passes away, the family will wait three days before washing and

The Central and Eastern European region has always carried huge potentials and various investment possibilities from the beginning of the early 90's.
This is especially factual for the automotive industry, which is considered one of the highest value added sectors of the economy, and the engine for
economic growth. However, expected results have not been completely fulfilled in Romania. Since the fall of the communist era, numerous venture
opportunities have appeared in the former Eastern European Block, though several difficulties, such as underprivileged infrastructure, obsolete
technology and political–legal barriers, a number of multinational firms have entered the Central and Eastern European markets.

Art Vs Roman Art
Imperial Roman art contains some of the most detailed and realistic aspects during the many Roman empires time. The style of this time period
went back to and equivalent style of Greek art from the Classical and Hellenistic periods. In contrast to the Greeks, the Romans subject matter more
focused on the ruler of the time. Imperial Rome's first ruler being Augustus, who had many sculptures made in honor of him. Firstly, The details
which classify an artwork as an imperial Roman art work are generally smooth lines, elegant drapery, idealized nude bodies, highly naturalistic
forms, and balanced proportions. These details were originally practiced and perfected by Greek artists over many centuries of work. These skills
developed into the Imperial Roman artists works many centuries later. Most of these details contrast the later period of Imperial Roman art. Secondly,
the span of Imperial Romans lasted 336 years. Although the later period of Imperial Roman art, also called the Late Antiquity, lasted 144 of the years.
In contrast to the beginning of Imperial Roman artwork, the Late Antiquity phase artists became less concerned about realism or balanced proportions.
Artists are this time focused more on frontal view, stiffness of pose and drapery, deeply drilled lines, and lack of individualism for his or her artworks .

Trajan In Dacia Research Paper
The elaborate triumph following Trajan's conquering of Dacia took place over the course of two days. In the early morning, the procession started
with musicians leading the way through the porta triumphalis, located at the porta carmentalis (Coarelli), singing ballads of Trajan's victory. This
excited the crowd and readied them for the procession, as well these ballads played a role in commemorating this triumph for years to come.
After the musicians, the procession continued with the display of the captured Dacian treasure. This procession included wagons of gold and silver
taken from Decebalus's treasure, hidden in the river Sargetia. As well, there were wagons and platforms carrying other trophies found in Dacia, like the

In their tattered uniforms, they were a pathetic looking crowd. Trajan did ensure although that these captives continue through the procession
unchained. Trajan wanted them to be unchained to show that their defeat to him was so consuming, that they did not need chains on to stop them from
attempting to escape, just the thought of Trajan scared them into obeying.
As the army walked to the forum, the generals of the Dacian army, were brought forward and executed in front of the crowd. These generals were
chased down by the jackals, brought from Dacia, which brought the Roman citizens immense satisfaction.
After the army passed, the Dacian elite and family of the ruler, Decebalus, shuffled by. There were forced out of their regal wear into clothes fit for
slaves. This was done to show the complete lack of power left to the Dacian Citizens. To further the dehumanization of the Dacians, the personal robes
of Decebalus were carried on a platform behind his family, along with his severed head decked with a diadem. This was put in the triumph to mock the
cowardice and memory of Decebalus.
Following the captives came trumpeters and oxen heavily ordained in jewels and garland like no sacrifice had ever been before. In addition to the
oxen, there was a beautiful lynx taken from Dacia being led on a gold

How did the purposes of sculpture and painting differ
Art was highly regarded and developed by the Romans who commissioned and patronized works of architecture, music, painting, sculpture and even
metalworking and gem engraving. The earliest specimens of Roman art can be dated to the establishment of the Republic in 509BC; with its expansion
and subsequent influx of people and ideas in the capital, Rome unabashedly adopted a variety of cultural influences. While Greek influence was
especially strong, the Romans blended Etruscan and Egyptian elements. Painting and sculpture were especially appreciated; the first being a
two–dimensional form that can have a background to set the mood and help tell the story, while the second being a three–dimensional ... Show more

The Balkan Of World History
If one was to ask the experienced historian Andrew Watchtel, author of the book "The Balkan in World History", about the most peculiar aspect of
East Central Europe, odds are, he would refer to its cultural layering. Watchtel use the term cultural layering to define the collage of cultures that have
fused over time in this region. This cultural layering found in East Central Europe is reflected more evidently with the infrastructure, language roots,
and religion of the Balkan area. The Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires were the ones that for diverse reasons left a more lasting impression in
this area. To be more specific, by means of architecture, the province of Plovdiv,Bulgaria is the perfect example on how these three empires left ...

At last, the Roman set the Danube River as the empire's limit or natural divisor from the northern European unconquered territories by building limes or
fortified borders.
As Rome added new provinces to the empire set Greek as the official language of the Eastern part and built infrastructure throughout the region.
Before incorporating the Balkan Region into the empire, Latin was the only official language in the empire. However, the language used in the
Balkans area was mostly Greek, so Romans decided set Greekas the the official language of the Eastern part of the empire. Jean Sedlar, author of
the book, East Central European in Middle Ages, estimated that one reason of doing so may be because the Romans admired for the Greek
civilization (Bideleux and Jeffries 1998, 42). Moreover, his conjecture may be correct, due to the fact that the Roman culture was based on Greek
background. Therefore, most of the Eastern part of the empire used Greek as the official language, but the Dacia province was the exception where
the Romanian developed, a romance or Latin derived language. One of the myriads of examples of Roman architecture can be reflected with the
Plovdiv Aqueduct located in present day Plovdiv, Bulgaria or the Ancient Roman province of Thracia.
Secondly, the Byzantine Empire, also referred as the Eastern Roman Empire expanded to parts of Eastern Central Europe as a measure of gaining
control over the Holy Roman Empire. Byzantium was

How Did The Romans Control Their Empire
The Roman Empire was a territory controlled by ancient Rome. The Roman Empire was the largest empire of the ancient world. The Romans built
their empire in the middle of the 3rd century BC and the 3rd Century AC. By the time of AD100 the Roman empire had become big in size. It

The population is about fifty million people. The Romans had a much different way of controlling their empire than we do today. If the Romans
controlled their empire the way they did back then, they would not do so well. Before the Roman empire had power, they were afraid of Carthage.
The Carthaginians were traders of the sea, and the Romans wanted to expand to this trading zone. Rome was a city of more than a million people and
trade was the most important thing for them. In 264 BC, the Romans and the Carthaginians, and after three wars, the Romans won. The wars were also

Art And Art
"All art is propaganda. It is universally and inescapably propaganda; sometimes unconsciously, but often deliberately, propaganda."– Upton Sinclair
When we think about propaganda today, the images produced during WWII are often the first that come to mind. However, propaganda has been an
aspect of civilization for as long as language and art has existed. In our modern times, propaganda is produced by government entities as well as
advertisers employed by companies all over the world. While propaganda and advertising do not serve the exact same purpose, their functions are
similar. Both aim to influence the public to take some sort of action through similar persuasion methods. One can consider propaganda as a type of
advertisement – while the sponsor of propaganda is historically a governmental entity or interest group, any form of propaganda created is essentially
an advertisement for that group's cause. Finally, because propaganda and advertising are specific to their time, they cannot influence the public forever.
This component allows future viewers to see past the propaganda and recognize the artistry.
In this lesson, we will consider art's ability to act as both a form of propaganda and a criticism of it. Specifically, we will focus on pieces of
propaganda now recognized as art – The Column of Trajan and SecretarГa de EducaciГіn PГєblica – and two pieces of art that criticize modern forms
of advertisements – Untitled (four single men with interchangeable

Marcus Ulpius Nerva Personality
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, Trajan for short, was a highly successful Roman general and Emperor in the early part of the first millennium. He
started his career as a successful general, expanding the Roman Empire. He was later the first Roman Emperor not to be Italian and successfully
extended the Roman Empire to its greatest extent as well as initiated many public building projects, some of which survived into the present day.
Trajan was born into a non–practician family on the 18th of September at Italica near Seville, Spain in 53 CE and he died on the 9th of August in
Selinus in Cilicia in 117 CE. His Dad was a senator and a general. This gave him a start in his political and military career. As a young man, he rose

Trajan's main military achievement was that he greatly increased the size and wealth of the Roman Empire by either Annexing or taking over
neighbouring areas. Trajan's biggest campaign was against the Dacia, a powerful kingdom north of modern Romania. In 101, he launched the first
campaign against the Dacians and their king, Decebalus, who lived in modern–day Romania. After defeating the Decian Army in 102, Trajan returned
to Rome, only to fight them again in 105. This time the Dacians were utterly destroyed and they officially became part of Rome in 106. He also
conquered Armenia and the whole of Mesopotamia. While Trajan was emperor, Rome expanded farther than it ever had, going all the way from

The Characteristics And Comparison Of The Trajan's Column
Introduction: This essay will focus on one of Rome's most well preserved monuments. A monument which stood the test of time, ever since
reflecting an important part of Rome's military history in a well preserved state, the Trajan's Column. In this essay I will discuss who Trajan, the
man who gave the Trajan's Column its name, was and why he decided to build such a complex monument for himself. What he was trying to tell the
people and visitors of Rome with this monument and look into the initial construction history. It will also be debated if the Trajan's Column was a
work of propaganda, or if there is after all more to it. A war to pay the bills: In order to fully understand the function of the Trajan's Column from both

The iconographic representations of the Dacian Wars which are etched into the Column are of great importance for the study of Trajans Davian
war as no writing or any other historical documentation exist. It can be described as a "history in pictures".The etchings in spiralling friezes in the
Column reveals not only a lot about the actual battle but also but the lifestyle of the ancient Roman fighters. Trajan designed a beautiful monument
for which he spared no costs, he only used the finest supplies for the construction. The Dacians were well known for they great supplies of precious
stones and mining. No costs were spared to create the monument and inscribe it in his honour, sparing no costs could be form of propaganda as it

The Roman Province Of Dacia
The Roman province of Dacia consisted of most of Romania from approximately 100 to 271 A.D. The Daco–Roman was overran again and again by
barbarian conquerors. Many migrants traveled to Romania. In the 5th and 6th century two major events happened. First in the 5th century, came the
Huns and in the 6th century they were followed by the Avars. The Huns were a nomadic tribe whose origin is unknown but, most likely, they came
from "somewhere between the eastern edge of the Altai Mountains and the Caspian Sea, roughly modern Kazakhstan" (Kelly, 45). "The Avars were a
confederation of heterogeneous (diverse or varied) people consisting of Rouran, Hephthalites, and Turkic–Oghuric races who migrated to the region of
the Pontic Grass Steppe (an area corresponding to modern–day Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan) from Central Asia after the fall of the Asiatic Rouran
Empire in 552 CE." After the Huns and Avars came the Slavs which were designates an ethnic group of people who share a long–term cultural
continuity and who speak a set of related languages known as the Slavic languages. After the Huns, Slavs and Avars came, Romania the slowly settled
down and a feudal order was born. Around the 8–10th century, Eastern Orthodox Christianity was brought amongst the Romanians by the mastery of
the Bulgarian Empire. The Hungarian empire had overruled Transylvania in or around the 11th century. By the time the 16th century rolled around, the

How Did The Economy Affect The Roman Legal System
The top ranks people were eligible to control and manipulate the legal system by using the wealth and status whereas the lower ranked people's position
was dependent on the production from the Land. Consequently, the inequality in the society affected the Roman economy. After the old patrician, the
nobility, founded by combining the patrician's families and the plebeians, became the ruling class in the republicanism. They also entered in the Senate.
Additionally, after the senators were banned to do the overseas business and participate in the state contracts, the new equestrian class was originated.
They were granted the status of an order of society similar to senator's qualification that possesses 400,000 sesterces by the Gaius Gracchus. In
addition, they had control over the jury–courts and they had the right to collect provisional taxes (The Romans, n. d.). Moreover, the goods such as

Rome is an ancient city located on the western coast of Italy by the
Meditterranian Sea.(3:289)
The city of Rome was founded, according to the legend, by Romulus in 753
BC. Remus and Romulus were two mythological sons of Mars, the god of war.
"Through military expansion and colonizations, and by granting citizenship to conquered tribes, the city joined all of Italy south of the Po in the
100–year period before 268 BC." First, the Latin and other tribes were joined, then the Etruscans (a civili zed people north of Rome) and the
Greek colonies in the south. "With a large army and several hundred thousand in reserve, Rome defeated Carthage in the 3 Punic Wars, 264–241, ...

by independant jurists, and local self–rule in provincial cities were su pplanted by a vast tax–collecting bureaucracyin the 3d and 4th centuries.
The legal rights of women, children, and slaves were strenghtened."(1:721)
Roman innovations in civil engineering included water mills, windmills, and rotary mills and the use of cement that hardened under water.
Monumental architechture (baths, theaters, apartment houses) relied on the arch and dome. "The network of roads (some still standing) stretched
53,000 miles, passing through moutain tunnels as long as 3.5 miles. Co nceived in
312 BC, the 360 mile Appian Way was a superhighway that the Romans traveled from Rome to Caupa, in Campania...The road took about 10 to 15

they are still in use today.(2:715)
Roman art and literature were derivative of Greek models. Innovations were made in sculpture (naturalistic busts and equestrian statues), decorative

Rise And Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay
Rome started as a small town on the Tiber River and grew into one of the greatest empires the world has ever known. In their heyday, their vast land
stretched into Great Britain, continental Europe, Western Africa, the Mediterranean, and Western Asia.
Rome started out as a republic but grew into an empire when Julius Caesar was ruling the land. Augustus, the first emperor of Rome, grew the prosperity
of the kingdom. Augustus led to literature, art, architecture, and religious success. The Roman Senate named Augustus a god when he passed away
after fifty–six years at the helm of the empire. This began a tradition of idolization for popular emperors. Tiberius, Caligula, and Claudius were the

Economic problems such as inflation and overspending hurt the Roman people. The army was trying to conquer large areas of land, because of the
spending on the costly wars. The government highly taxed their citizens and inflation spread. Other empires were also trying to invade the neighboring
land. The Vandals were able to conquer Western Africa, most of the slaves came from Western Africa, thus halting trade between Rome and slave
countries. The Roman economy was heavily reliant on slaves to farm and work as artisans. Their agriculture and commercial production plummeted,
without a strong economy, your country will not be strong. Another reason for the decline was government corruption and inconsistency. The Western
Roman Empire had twenty emperors in seventy–five years. Many of the leaders were assassinated due to the guards being corrupt. The Praetorian
guards decided who had the ultimate rule and had even auctioned off the spot to the person with the highest bid. Even the Roman Senate had issues,
unable to control the constant change over of the leaders because of their own corruption. These issues led to many Romans to not have a sense of
nationalism, something the people used to pride themselves on. Additionally, the Roman empire began to falter. The emperors were not able to recruit
new soldiers from their own empire. Leaders such as Diocletian, and Constantine, hired mercenaries

Roman Concepts of Military Leadership Essay
Leadership can be defined as "the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the
mission and improving the organization." While the wording comes from the United States Army's Leadership manual, the same principles applied
to the men who served in the Roman army, both the Republic and the Empire. From 508 BC to 1453 the Roman's would be a considered a
"superpower" in the world with "all roads" leading to Rome as the old proverb explains. A superpower is maintained with a strong military and Rome
was no exception. During her reign, Rome saw a vast number of generals and leaders that would stand out over time. Three of these leaders would be

Trajan would continue to move across towards Decealus and his armies, building roads, bridges and forts to engage his enemy. Trajan's forces did
not have a grand victory initially. The Dacian's resisted his efforts and the weather played into the enemy hands as Trajan and his forces took
heavy casualties. Cassius Dio reported that Trajan used his own robes to help make bandages for his wounded, and had an altar and funeral rites
in honor of his fallen. While Decebalus may have claimed victory in the first Battle of Tapae, the second Battle of Tapae would belong to Trajan,
pushing Decebalus and his forces back. Decebalus would have some success with hit and run type tactics, as "he knew better than to attack the
heavily fortified Roman camps" and attempted a winter campaign to try and relieve some of the pressure that Trajan's forces had put on his. The true
Roman tenacity would again come to the forefront, as Decebalus retreated to the mountains to resist, but Trajan's forces would isolate these
strongpoints and take them down "one by one." Trajan would return to Rome to celebrate his Truimp in 102 AD after defeating Decebalus who is
seen on the column dedicated to Trajan's victory "kneeling and begging for mercy." Trajan showed Decebalus mercy and he would come to regret it,

Behind the natives howled in anger, for while they had hit their mark they had not managed to stop him. Horseless themselves they ran on down the

Basing's Argument Analysis
Basing his work of Aristotle's, one philosopher's arrogant statement leads to a new understanding of knowledge. Averroes argues that images are the
foundation of intellect. While agree with Averroes on how images are used to gain intellect, I disagree with him on his idea that on the wealthy could
become educated elite, because they could increase the rate of intellectual advancement if they fund or help out the poor allowing them to become
educated. First I'll be presenting Averroes' argument, I will then address my agreement on image and intellect, and will conclude with my disagreement
about his arrogant statement.

All of Averroes' work lead to the founding ofAverroism. This was a huge influence to scholars in the 13th and 14th centuries. The scholars who
supported his and Aristotle's opinions were known as Averroists. Some of the most well–known Averroists were Jewish scholar Moses of Narbonne,
and Latin scholars Boethius of Dacia and Siger of Brabant. Along with many others, they interpreted Averroes' as truth according to reason, despite
confliction with some Christian truths. In contrary, he could have improved by helping out the poor so that when they become educated they too
could progress knowledge. The reason I say this is because he thought that only the educated elite were capable of thinking philosophically, and the
educated elite were usually wealthy because they were able to afford education. He briefly talks about how the Qur'an the most an uneducated can

One example of public buildings built by Trajan was Trajan's Forum. Trajan's Forum was designed by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. Trajan's
Forum contains a four–story, open air shopping mall, the Basilica Ulpia, where laws and government matters were handled, and Trajan's Column.
Trajan's Forum was a huge architectural achievement because slaves and workers cut two hemicycles into the Capitoline and Quirinal hills. In the
holes, warehouses and shops were built, and many streets were formed (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public buildings is Trajan's
Column. Trajan's Column is an 126 feet tall Column that depicts the invasion and conquering of Dacia. There are thousands of figures telling the story
of the Dacian War. The figures are fighting, sailing, building, and negotiating in all of the intricate scenes (Curry). In 117, when Trajan died, his ashes
were transported to Rome and he was buried under the column (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public buildings is Trajan's Market.
Trajan's Market is a four–story, open air shopping mall built between 107 and 110 CE. It contained the main building, a covered market, small shop

The, Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus
Ave, Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus,
I will make this report concise as to not waste your time since I know you are a busy man and have an empire to run. I have separated the report of
the outline for your amphitheatre into five parts. The five parts consist of the following: 1) Location 2) Size 3) Accessibility 4) Arena structure and
features 5) Funding
I.I propose that we construct the amphitheatre to the right of Saepta Julia in the Campus Martius. The amphitheatre will be built in between the Isis
Campensis and the Via Flaminia. Such a location has been chosen after much consideration because of the extensive amount of open space available
to build the amphitheatre as well as its close proximity to the heart of Rome. Moreover, the location is beneficial in the sense that it would be
constructed nearby the Saepta Julia. Since the creation of the Saepta Julia was planned by your adopted father, Julius Caesar, and dedicated to his
daughter to honour you after it was finished, if your amphitheatre were to be built close to it, the area surrounding both structures will become like a
district, the Julio–Claudian district.
II.To ensure that your amphitheatre is exemplary of Rome's excellence and worthy of the Julio–Claudian dynasty, I propose that the total area of the
amphitheatre and accompanying structures cover approximately 17,579 square metres. Evidently, a building of such size would not be possible if there
was not enough room to build it on; however,

Why Is Hadrian Important
Hadrian
Emperor Hadrian was the 14th Emperor of Rome between 117–138 CE, Hadrian is also known as the 3rd of 5 good emperors. Born in Hispania like
Trajan Hadrian came into power as an Emperor after being adopted by Trajan's wife. Historians believe that one reason for the adoption was the
ethnicity that Hadrian and Trajan shared. At an early age Hadrian like Trajan joined the army and became a tribune under the command of emperor
Nerva. When Nerva died Trajan took the throne and when Trajan died Hadrian took the throne. Hadrian's popularity inRome was attested as Hadrian
spent the better part of his reign absent from Rome. Professor D. Brendan Nagle writes, " Hadrian spent most of his reign (twelve out of twenty–one
years) traveling all over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and second pantheons were burnt down and the current one has lasted till current day. The whole building stands at a high of 7 m not
including the 1.3–meter high base. The base is made out of steps made out of Numidia yellow marble, which shows Rome's wealth that they could to
import such an expensive resource and put it one, the floor. The Pantheon is made up of 2 rooms, the porch and the rotunda that is the main body
of the structure. The porch follows a very classical geek style where as the rotunda is more reminiscent of the roman public bathhouses. The
rotunda is made of brick and the roman concrete that was then faced with white marble stucco to match the porch in appearance. The dome roof
covering the rotunda is also made of roman concrete and then covered with bronze sheets that were removed in 663 CE by Constans 2nd. The
Bronze roofing showed the importance of this building since all other buildings in Rome had roofs made of tiles. The measures 33 by 13.6 m and
presents the building with a colonnade of 8 Corinthian columns that tower 11.8 m high. The column shafts are made of grey granite and with the
pediments and capitals made of white marble. This really shows how Rome cannot only get such rich resources but can also the reach Rome has to
get all the different types of stone for this construction. The porch has a faced of Pentalic marble and is decorated with religious

  • 2. Roman Colosseum Research Paper One of the most important things to understanding Rome is their fixation with violence and war. Without an understanding of why and how the Romans had such extremely violent games in the Colosseum it is incredibly difficult to comprehend Roman culture and the motives of their actions. The cause and effects of the Roman Colosseum come about after the Punic wars. Roman culture is also very interesting because it in some ways is opposite to our own. The importance of the gladiatorial games can be seen during the Pax Romana, also known as Roman peace, started by emperor Augustus in 31 BC in which Rome did not embark on a real war until AD 14. The point of the war scale gladiator battles was to keep the memory of warrior traditions alive and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ordinary people also had to wear white togas if they wanted a seat in the bottom two tiers. Citizens were spread out depending on various factors, with bachelors and married men sitting in different blocks, as well as women and poor men standing near the top. As time went on gladiatorial fights were substituted for chariot–races, this came about in 42 BC at the earliest. The gladiatorial shows eventually became official careers, they were a obligation of the officers of state and were paid for by the taxes. Emperor Augustus put limits on the gladiatorial shows, making one hundred and twenty the maximum gladiators at a show and only two regular showings in a year. The main motive for his limiting of gladiatorial shows was to restrict the amount of time aristocrats had to court the general populous. Over time as new Emperors came to power the restrictions were gradually lowered. This gave rise to aristocrats competing over political success and prestige by holding shows and giving away free items at these shows. The Emperor himself held the most spectacular of shows such as Trajan to celebrate the conquest of Dacia in 108 AD. During a showing in 64 AD, the roman reverence for Christianity was once again ... During the first two centuries AD the empire flourished and added new territories, notably ancient Britain, Arabia, and Dacia (present–day Romania). People from the Roman provinces came to Rome, where they became soldiers, bureaucrats, senators, and even emperors. Rome developed into the social, economic, and cultural capital of the Mediterranean world. Despite the attention given to tyrant and other vicious leaders, most emperors ruled sensibly and competently until military and economic disasters brought on the political instability of the 3rd century A.D. The Romans are famous for many things. One thing is their adaptation and development of architecture from other civilization. From the Etruscans and early tribes the Romans got most of their basic architectural skills. From the Greeks some components of Roman architecture were adapted from the Greeks. The heart of Roman architecture was the Roman forum, which was being constructed under the rule of Octavian Caesar. Eventually the Roman architecture went into a stage in which all the buildings looked like the Greek buildings. The Romans were polytheistic. The Roman religion believed in many gods. They had similar beliefs to the Greek gods, but also big differences. The Roman mythology was to consist of twelve to thirteen main gods. Each of the gods has a function in the life of an everyday Roman that would require some sort of worshipping. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Errand of Beauty Dearest Marcellina Avitus, I'm afraid I must be again the bearer of bad news my dear sister. After bringing yours and Lucanus' petitions to my own husband, and then to our local Aedile last week, I had no such luck in having them answered. I thought perhaps, with my noble blood and the respected Patrician name of my husband I could perhaps get an audience with our beloved Emperor. So, there I was last week, walking through the streets of Rome, my ladies–in–waiting all aflutter around me, dodging Plebian neighborhoods like a plague from the gods, following whispers from strolling senators in their bright white togas. My only mission was to find our emperor Trajan and command to have your petitions answered. However, as you know dear sister, I am easily distracted by the wondrous beauties the gods have bestowed upon our great city. Sister, have you ever actually taken the time to look at the beauty around you? I know there is not much where you reside on the outskirts of town, but next time you go to the market, please do. In fact, visit the markets outside of Emperor Trajan's forum the next time you come further into the city. Can you imagine two whole levels of market stalls? Each one with more and more goods to purchase, by the gods it is a sight to behold sister. I had to send one of ladies–in–waiting to run home and fetch more slaves just to be able to carry back the abundance of luxury items I purchased from one of the first floor shops, located just beneath a ... • 5. Trajan’s Forum: The Hub of Early Roman Society Essay Trajan's Forum: The Hub of Early Roman Society The Roman Empire can arguably be considered one of the greatest ancient civilizations. From Augustus to Constantine, the Romans brought both new and borrowed ideas into the world. With influence from the Greeks, the Romans established a representative government with the Emperor and the Senate as the main law–making and law–enforcing bodies. The Roman Empire grew prosperous and, with military expeditions, expanded as west as modern day Britain and as east the lands near the Caspian Sea. With the Empire expanding into what is now known as Israel, Christianity spread to Rome and, under Constantine, was established as a legal religion under the Edict of Milan in 313. After supporting Domitian in a revolt in 89, Trajan gained popularity by the Roman Senate and was soon adopted by the heirless emperor, Nerva. Merely two years after Nerva's adoption of Trajan, Nerva died and Trajan attained the throne of the Roman Empire. Under Trajan's rule, the Roman Empire expanded to its largest, covering from the Atlantic Ocean to the Caspian Sea. By 106, the region of Dacia (present day Romania) had been conquered. It is Trajan's campaigns in Dacia that are portrayed on his famous Column in the forum. The Forum of Trajan was constructed by the Greek architect Apollodorus of Damascus near the forums of Augustus and Julius Caesar. Like many of his predecessors, Trajan built his forum in order to mark Rome as the imperial center of the empire. The many fora with their marvelous feats of architecture were intended to be impressive to both the Roman citizens and any outsiders. Within Trajan's Forum (Appendix Figure 1) stood the Basilica Ulpia, the Greek and Latin Libraries, the Column of Trajan, the Temple of Trajan and Trajan's Markets. Domitian 's early career was spent in the shadow of his brother Titus. This continued under the rule of his father Vespasian, who became emperor in 69 following the civil war, which is known as the Year of the Four Emperors. WhileTitus held many offices under the rule of his father, Domitian received honors but no responsibilities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Domitian died, the senate tried to erase all memory of his existence, while senatorial authors like Suetonius published histories making Domitian seem like a cruel tyrant. Modern history has rejected these views, instead characterizing Domitian as a ruthless but efficient autocrat whose cultural, economic and political program provided the foundation of the peaceful 2nd century. Early Life Domitian was born in Rome on October 24, 51, and was the youngest son of Titus Flavius Vespasianus, commonly known as Vespasian. He had an older sister, Domitilla the Younger, and brother, also named Titus Flavius Vespasianus. The Flavians rose to prominence in just four generations, acquiring wealth and status under the emperors of the Julio–Claudian dynasty. Domitian 's great–grandfather, Titus Flavius Petro, had served as a centurion under Pompey during Caesar 's civil war. However, his military career ended in disgrace when he fled the battlefield at the Battle of Pharsalus in 48 BC. Petro managed to improve his status by marrying the extremely wealthy Tertulla, whose fortune guaranteed the upwards mobility of Petro 's son Titus Flavius Sabinus I, Domitian 's grandfather. Sabinus gained further wealth and possible equestrian status through his services as tax collector in Asia and banker in Helvetia. By marrying Vespasia Polla he allied the Flavian family to the more prestigious gens Vespasia, ensuring the elevation of his sons Titus Flavius Sabinus II and Vespasian to ... One main reason that the Roman Empire expanded so much was because of their many good emperors such as Trajan and his successor Hadrian. Trajan was emperor of Rome from 98–117 CE and is considered one of the "Five Good Emperors" of Rome. One reason Trajan was considered such a good emperor was because he was kind and generous to the Roman People and Senate. Because of this, Trajan was one of the reasons that Rome could have so much land and be at the height of their power during his reign. Trajan made sure that the poor were fed and cared for, and almost everybody in his empire liked him. Aside from his kindness, Trajan was also recognized for his achievements in war and expanding Rome to its height in 117 AD with 5 million square kilometers. Throughout Trajan's reign, he captured Dacia, or present–day Romania, and the Parthian Empire, or the Persians with his skill in fighting. Following Trajan's death in 117, Hadrian rose to the throne. Hadrian is considered another one of the "five good emperors" of Rome, except Hadrian was different than Trajan in that he unified and consolidated Rome rather than seize more land as Trajan had. Watchtel use the term cultural layering to define the collage of cultures that have fused over time in this region. This cultural layering found in East Central Europe is reflected more evidently with the infrastructure, language roots, and religion of the Balkan area. The Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires were the ones that for diverse reasons left a more lasting impression in this area. At last, the Roman set the Danube River as the empire's limit or natural divisor from the northern European unconquered territories by building limes or fortified borders. As Rome added new provinces to the empire set Greek as the official language of the Eastern part and built infrastructure throughout the region. Before incorporating the Balkan Region into the empire, Latin was the only official language in the empire. However, the language used in the Balkans area was mostly Greek, so Romans decided set Greekas the the official language of the Eastern part of the empire. Jean Sedlar, author of the book, East Central European in Middle Ages, estimated that one reason of doing so may be because the Romans admired for the Greek civilization (Bideleux and Jeffries 1998, 42). Moreover, his conjecture may be correct, due to the fact that the Roman culture was based on Greek background. Therefore, most of the Eastern part of the empire used Greek as the official language, but the Dacia province was the exception where the Romanian developed, a romance or Latin derived language. One of the myriads of examples of Roman architecture can be reflected with the Plovdiv Aqueduct located in present day Plovdiv, Bulgaria or the Ancient Roman province of Thracia. • 21. Art And Art "All art is propaganda. It is universally and inescapably propaganda; sometimes unconsciously, but often deliberately, propaganda."– Upton Sinclair When we think about propaganda today, the images produced during WWII are often the first that come to mind. However, propaganda has been an aspect of civilization for as long as language and art has existed. In our modern times, propaganda is produced by government entities as well as advertisers employed by companies all over the world. While propaganda and advertising do not serve the exact same purpose, their functions are similar. Both aim to influence the public to take some sort of action through similar persuasion methods. One can consider propaganda as a type of advertisement – while the sponsor of propaganda is historically a governmental entity or interest group, any form of propaganda created is essentially an advertisement for that group's cause. Finally, because propaganda and advertising are specific to their time, they cannot influence the public forever. This component allows future viewers to see past the propaganda and recognize the artistry. In this lesson, we will consider art's ability to act as both a form of propaganda and a criticism of it. Specifically, we will focus on pieces of propaganda now recognized as art – The Column of Trajan and SecretarГa de EducaciГіn PГєblica – and two pieces of art that criticize modern forms of advertisements – Untitled (four single men with interchangeable ... This began a tradition of idolization for popular emperors. Tiberius, Caligula, and Claudius were the emperors that followed, they were not as popular as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economic problems such as inflation and overspending hurt the Roman people. The army was trying to conquer large areas of land, because of the spending on the costly wars. The government highly taxed their citizens and inflation spread. Other empires were also trying to invade the neighboring land. The Vandals were able to conquer Western Africa, most of the slaves came from Western Africa, thus halting trade between Rome and slave countries. The Roman economy was heavily reliant on slaves to farm and work as artisans. Their agriculture and commercial production plummeted, without a strong economy, your country will not be strong. Another reason for the decline was government corruption and inconsistency. The Western Roman Empire had twenty emperors in seventy–five years. Many of the leaders were assassinated due to the guards being corrupt. The Praetorian guards decided who had the ultimate rule and had even auctioned off the spot to the person with the highest bid. Even the Roman Senate had issues, unable to control the constant change over of the leaders because of their own corruption. These issues led to many Romans to not have a sense of nationalism, something the people used to pride themselves on. Additionally, the Roman empire began to falter. The emperors were not able to recruit new soldiers from their own empire. Leaders such as Diocletian, and Constantine, hired mercenaries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Roman Concepts of Military Leadership Essay Leadership can be defined as "the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization." While the wording comes from the United States Army's Leadership manual, the same principles applied to the men who served in the Roman army, both the Republic and the Empire. From 508 BC to 1453 the Roman's would be a considered a "superpower" in the world with "all roads" leading to Rome as the old proverb explains. A superpower is maintained with a strong military and Rome was no exception. During her reign, Rome saw a vast number of generals and leaders that would stand out over time. Three of these leaders would be Trajan, Marius and Scipio Africanus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trajan would continue to move across towards Decealus and his armies, building roads, bridges and forts to engage his enemy. Trajan's forces did not have a grand victory initially. The Dacian's resisted his efforts and the weather played into the enemy hands as Trajan and his forces took heavy casualties. Cassius Dio reported that Trajan used his own robes to help make bandages for his wounded, and had an altar and funeral rites in honor of his fallen. While Decebalus may have claimed victory in the first Battle of Tapae, the second Battle of Tapae would belong to Trajan, pushing Decebalus and his forces back. Decebalus would have some success with hit and run type tactics, as "he knew better than to attack the heavily fortified Roman camps" and attempted a winter campaign to try and relieve some of the pressure that Trajan's forces had put on his. The true Roman tenacity would again come to the forefront, as Decebalus retreated to the mountains to resist, but Trajan's forces would isolate these strongpoints and take them down "one by one." Trajan would return to Rome to celebrate his Truimp in 102 AD after defeating Decebalus who is seen on the column dedicated to Trajan's victory "kneeling and begging for mercy." Trajan showed Decebalus mercy and he would come to regret it, as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Synopsis Of George Orwell 's ' The Night ' ****** 1 – Ambush ****** The sleek bay horse that bore Reginald Windsor ambled down the forest path with the comfortable, well–known rhythm that he had become accustomed to. It was the third day out en route to Fort W. and with luck the weary courier would bed down tonight in the relative comfort of his bed at the barracks. For nearly a month now he had been on constant duty as his superiors worked out the details on the plan to move out the native population from the area once and for all. Colonel Anderssen, a stickler for the minutest detail and an old sort who preferred pen and paper to the cable, had kept him busy, sending out dispatch after dispatch, but at long last there was to be a furlough and some much needed rest. The bay charged to the bend with all of its might and almost made it unscathed, but at the last moment it was hit in the flank and started. For a long second Reginald felt as if the horse were going to founder. There was a jog to the left and then a correction. It was in this moment that providence made one of a long string of choices and the horse and rider slipped out of sight behind a screen of trees. Behind the natives howled in anger, for while they had hit their mark they had not managed to stop him. Horseless themselves they ran on down the long path which now seemed to be a hindrance to them as well. They passed by the smear of red that was the steed 's lifeblood and reached the corner. There was none to be seen. On they marched quickly, on occasion spying a sign of blood here or there, but after half a mile they were forced to stop. It was evident that the horseman had left the path for the pattern of crimson had faded, but backtrack and try as they might they were not able to pick up the path again. No hoof prints were to be found and there was no signs of broken branches. It was as if their quarry had simply disappeared. Reginald and the horse that some prior rider had named Dacia had cut a path perpendicular to the trail several hundred

  • 36. Basing's Argument Analysis Basing his work of Aristotle's, one philosopher's arrogant statement leads to a new understanding of knowledge. Averroes argues that images are the foundation of intellect. While agree with Averroes on how images are used to gain intellect, I disagree with him on his idea that on the wealthy could become educated elite, because they could increase the rate of intellectual advancement if they fund or help out the poor allowing them to become educated. First I'll be presenting Averroes' argument, I will then address my agreement on image and intellect, and will conclude with my disagreement about his arrogant statement. All of Averroes' work lead to the founding ofAverroism. This was a huge influence to scholars in the 13th and 14th centuries. The scholars who supported his and Aristotle's opinions were known as Averroists. Some of the most well–known Averroists were Jewish scholar Moses of Narbonne, and Latin scholars Boethius of Dacia and Siger of Brabant. Along with many others, they interpreted Averroes' as truth according to reason, despite confliction with some Christian truths. In contrary, he could have improved by helping out the poor so that when they become educated they too could progress knowledge. The reason I say this is because he thought that only the educated elite were capable of thinking philosophically, and the educated elite were usually wealthy because they were able to afford education. He briefly talks about how the Qur'an the most an uneducated can grasp due to its simplicity. In addition, although it was common for people to do this, I think it was wrong for him to say if you don't believe personal immortality (knowledge in the individual's mind) you would be executed. Finally, in one of the resources, it is titled Averroes' Unity Thesis but throughout the information it doesn't actually say what this thesis was, it just tells about the ... • 37. Roman Emperor Trajan Research Paper Trajan is considered by many historians as one of the greatest Roman emperors. He conquered Parthia and Dacia, expanding Rome's borders. He was also the first non–Roman emperor in Rome's history. Trajan was born in Italica, Baetica (modern–day Spain) on September 15th, 53 CE, and he died on either August 8th or August 9th, 117 CE in Selinus, Cilicia (modern–day Turkey). Trajan started his career as a legionary staff tribune in Syria, where his father was governor. After that, he became a praetor, which qualified him for command of a legion in Spain in 89 CE. One day, he was ordered to march his troops to Rome to help a revolt against emperor Domitian, but the revolt was suppressed by the time he arrived. In 91 CE, Domitian allowed him... Trajan's Forum contains a four–story, open air shopping mall, the Basilica Ulpia, where laws and government matters were handled, and Trajan's Column. Trajan's Forum was a huge architectural achievement because slaves and workers cut two hemicycles into the Capitoline and Quirinal hills. In the holes, warehouses and shops were built, and many streets were formed (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public buildings is Trajan's Column. Trajan's Column is an 126 feet tall Column that depicts the invasion and conquering of Dacia. There are thousands of figures telling the story of the Dacian War. The figures are fighting, sailing, building, and negotiating in all of the intricate scenes (Curry). In 117, when Trajan died, his ashes were transported to Rome and he was buried under the column (Hammond). Another example of Trajan building public buildings is Trajan's Market. Trajan's Market is a four–story, open air shopping mall built between 107 and 110 CE. It contained the main building, a covered market, small shop fronts, and a residential apartment building. The market was situated behind Trajan's Forum and had many functions, mostly commercial. The bottom three levels housed many shops. The shops sold fruits, vegetables, fish, wine, oil, ... • 39. The, Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus Ave, Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus, I will make this report concise as to not waste your time since I know you are a busy man and have an empire to run. I have separated the report of the outline for your amphitheatre into five parts. The five parts consist of the following: 1) Location 2) Size 3) Accessibility 4) Arena structure and features 5) Funding I.I propose that we construct the amphitheatre to the right of Saepta Julia in the Campus Martius. The amphitheatre will be built in between the Isis Campensis and the Via Flaminia. Such a location has been chosen after much consideration because of the extensive amount of open space available to build the amphitheatre as well as its close proximity to the heart of Rome. Moreover, the location is beneficial in the sense that it would be constructed nearby the Saepta Julia. Since the creation of the Saepta Julia was planned by your adopted father, Julius Caesar, and dedicated to his daughter to honour you after it was finished, if your amphitheatre were to be built close to it, the area surrounding both structures will become like a district, the Julio–Claudian district. II.To ensure that your amphitheatre is exemplary of Rome's excellence and worthy of the Julio–Claudian dynasty, I propose that the total area of the amphitheatre and accompanying structures cover approximately 17,579 square metres. Evidently, a building of such size would not be possible if there was not enough room to build it on; however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The old tang of metal is as familiar to me as anything at home. The high columns made of red stone mined from the eastern wilderness. The columns are carved with the faces of saints, and angels up high towards the ceiling of the church. The columns are landmarks in Nicomedia, standing above all the pagan temples that are marked with gray Roman stone and plaster. Born in Hispania like Trajan Hadrian came into power as an Emperor after being adopted by Trajan's wife. Historians believe that one reason for the adoption was the ethnicity that Hadrian and Trajan shared. At an early age Hadrian like Trajan joined the army and became a tribune under the command of emperor Nerva. When Nerva died Trajan took the throne and when Trajan died Hadrian took the throne. The base is made out of steps made out of Numidia yellow marble, which shows Rome's wealth that they could to import such an expensive resource and put it one, the floor. The Pantheon is made up of 2 rooms, the porch and the rotunda that is the main body of the structure. The porch follows a very classical geek style where as the rotunda is more reminiscent of the roman public bathhouses. The rotunda is made of brick and the roman concrete that was then faced with white marble stucco to match the porch in appearance. The dome roof covering the rotunda is also made of roman concrete and then covered with bronze sheets that were removed in 663 CE by Constans 2nd. The Bronze roofing showed the importance of this building since all other buildings in Rome had roofs made of tiles. The measures 33 by 13.6 m and presents the building with a colonnade of 8 Corinthian columns that tower 11.8 m high. The column shafts are made of grey granite and with the pediments and capitals made of white marble.
