What Happened in September 11th, 2001 Essay
September 11th, 2001 What happened on September 11th, 2001? A day that will be remembered and never forgotten, a day that many innocent
people died because of a terrible tragedy that happened on September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City. To many people it
probably just looked like another regular work day, but didn't expect the worst that day. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed in
the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City ("11 facts about 9/11"). September 11 was one of the saddest days in history.
September 11, 2001 was the day that changed the world, and affected the US. People on those building s known as the twin towers weren't only

All of these attacks and attempts and actions were addressed through the existing criminal justice system. Under that legal architecture, the Foreign
Intelligence Surveillance Act and Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, as well as a host of other statutes and regulations,
governed domestic intelligence collection. Exchange of information collected by foreign and domestic agencies was dedicated by a strict set of rules
that was interpreted as forbidding pure "intelligence" information from being involved with law enforcement purposes, and conversely made it difficult
to involve criminal justice derived information with other agencies. When terrorists were arrested either in the United States or abroad, they were
accorded the treatment of any other criminal defendant, also including receiving warnings about the right to silence, and a full–blown criminal jury
trial (FAQ about 9/11). During The 9/11 tragedies many people know it was definitely one of the worst things that happened in the US. On any
given workday, up to 50,000 employees worked in the World Trade Center twin towers and an additional 40,000 passed through the complex, and
more than 400 casualties were police officers and fighters, and over 10,000 people were treated for injuries after the attack ("11 facts about 9/11").

How the September 11th Attacks Impacted Politics and Business
The September 11th attacks on the world trade organisation left the world in shock, changing the lives many individuals, organisations, countries and
economies. It has affected the world of business and politics in many ways and these effects are still continuing to occur.
Following the attack, it was difficult for New York to derive the specific economic costs, hence making it harder for the American government to
introduce plans aiming to resolve the situation. However after examining and quantifying the impact of the attack a leading team of New York
economists and consultants have detailed the effects. The economic impact is likely to total to $83 billion in damage to New York's... Show more

Specific industries were hit by the 9/11 events, in particular the airline industry. It can be said that no other industry was as immediately affected by
the events of 9/11 as the airline industry. Demand for flights and holidays fell dramatically due to the fear of flying at such a fragile time, this hit the
industry hard, causing sales to fall dramatically. As a result, a vast amount of jobs were lost at the worlds largest airline companies and only a
government bail out prevented others from falling into bankruptcy. These include Sabena (Belgium), Swissair, Ansett Australia, and Vanguard Airlines (
United States). The situation is however slowly improving, although stably not spectacularly. Much of the trust in the safety of air travel seems to
have been regained a year after and some of the jobs have also been regained. However since the war on Iraq begun, consumers are again wary of air
travel due to the risk of another attack.
Tourism was another industry hit hard. Some claim it was partly due to the slump in demand for air travel, which is the most common form of
transport from one country to another. Overseas visits to the United Kingdom for example fell by 9% for 2001. Tourism is a

The Attacks on September 11th 2001
September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to be a freak accident turned into a horrific
nightmare for our country, America was under attack. On the morning of the attacks a group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial
jetliners headed to California and purposively crashed two into the Twin Towers of theWorld Trade Center. The last plane fell into a Pennsylvania field
never reaching its final destination, The White House. These attacks on the United States were formulated by the Islamic culture that has been planning
this for many years. Shortly after these Twin Towers fell, the United States started mourning for the loss of those citizens killed in the violent... Show

Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit door. The hijackers attempted knocking the
passengers off balance by pitching the nose of the airplane up and down. The passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the
hijacker knew they were about to break through. The flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot decided to aim the airplane
going 580 miles per hour into an abandoned field only about twenty minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on
attacking the White House (CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the demolition many engineers,
contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people
were very concerned with recovering any survivors that were trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the
wreckage needed to be moved from the scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108 thousand trucks were used to transport materials to
multiple facilities so that the wreckage can be investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the hijackers and their planes.
Only six survivors were pulled out of the fallen towers and these were

September 11th Attacks: Ethnocentrism In The United States
Ethnocentrism might have contributed to the memorable September 11th attacks in the United States. Ethnocentrism being the act of considering one's
cultural values, religion, and language more valuable and rightful before other ethnic groups. Ethnocentrism involves evaluating another people's
culture and viewing them as wrong, or immoral. Religious difference may have played a key role on the attacks. The Al–Qaeda, who are Muslims,
claimed that United states were interfering with their religious practices by putting their troops in Saudi Arabia, which is closer to Mecca. They also
claimed that the United States were supporting Israel in the killing of Muslims in Philistines. The Al–Qaeda developed hatred towards United States
for being more of a Christian country. They felt Christians were killing them because they were Muslims. Therefore, they launched these attacks as a
revenge, also as a defense for fellow Muslims.
On the other hand, Americans decided to fight back, and end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Someone can live in a multicultural society and fit very well. Ethnocentrism entails being centered or considering your own culture as right, and
negatively evaluating other people's cultural practices. One can avoid being ethnocentric by striking a balance between cultures and tolerating other
groups with their cultures without judging them based on their practices. Civilization and education systems have contributed a lot in impacting
knowledge of cultural relativism to the young generations. This has been a vital tool to fight ethnocentrism, for instance, being an immigrant in the
United States, where there are different cultures, it can be challenging. I have encountered a lot of cultural shock in the process of adjusting. There is a
lot of difference between my culture, and the American culture. I have had to adapt some values, and just tolerate other norms so I can fit in the
American society, and live in harmony with

The Bombing Of The United States
September 11th, 2001, the United States of America was attacked on its soil when alleged Al–Qaeda members hijacked four passenger planes, Boeing
757s. Two planes flew into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, one plane flew into the Pentagon, and the remaining
plane was possibly targeting the White House or the Capitol but was unsuccessful. People all over America felt an utter shock and disbelief after this
tragic event as people demanded answers. After the terrorist attacks, a portion of Americans started to believe in conspiracies proving the government
was behind it all. Americans believe that the U.S. government knew in advance of the terrorist attacks on September 11th due to the time between the

The FBI then traced down the hijackers to discover and confirm that they had been living in the United States for several months leading up to the
attacks on September 11, 2001. The luggage of the discovered hijacker's leader, Mohammed Atta, was never loaded on Flight 11 and contained
specific handwritten instructions that told him and his men to be well dressed for the mission and to recite religious verses from the Koran to bring
courage as they completed the mission. If they followed these instructions, they would receive heavenly rewards afterwards. The evidence discovered
by the FBI supports that Al–Qaeda was targeting the United States and was behind the attacks as they prepared for months. Al–Qaeda strived to make
not only the United States suffer, but the nation as a whole. As the government blamed Al–Qaeda for the events on September 11th, conspiracies
disagreed and said that the Bush administration was behind it all due to the procrastination of a commission led by Bush to investigate the events.
Fourteen months after the attacks on September 11th, Bush's creation of the special commission was no longer delayed. In November of 2002, Bush
named Henry Kissinger as the chairman of this commission. Problems emerged when Kissinger agreed to identify his foreign clients from the United
States foreign policy but then unexpectedly resigned from the commission. Bush 's administration received fire about the delay of the commission and

9/11 Terrorism Compare And Contrast
I will be explaining the differences and similarities between the Red Scare and the September 11th terrorist attack. The Red Scare and the 9/11
terrorist attacks was a devastating and a learning experience for the U.S. and American citizens. The events caused people in America to be fearful and
paranoid of each other. On September 11th attack four terrorist on different jets into the twin towers, into the pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. On
May 2, 2011 Osama Bin Laden, the founder and head of the Islamist militant group was killed. These two events had Americans on the edge and
paranoid around immigrants. . Both of the events had regular Americans calling the police because they thought that they where being spied on or

The Twin Towers, a plane crashed into them and killed the people in the building and the people on the plane. September 11th 2001, was when two
hijacked planes crashed into the Twin towers and knocked them down. To start off, it was a tragic day in New York on September 11th. According to the
September 11 attacks, "The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group on the United States

The Attack On The World Trade Center
The attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001, had negative health consequences beyond the staggering loss of life.
The James L. Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act, signed into law by President Obama in 2010, established the World Trade Center Health
Program that ensured those affected by 9/11 received monitoring and treatment services for 9/11 related health problems up until 2011 and reopened the
September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 to new applicants. The act was renewed in 2015 which included the reauthorization of the
September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, and over 72,000 responders and survivors are allowed to get medical monitoring, treatment, and
compensation for their injuries. However, while federally–funded health care and medical monitoring for injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors
has been made permenant, the compensation program will expire in 2020 even while expecting thousands more cancer cases from exposure to 9/11
toxins in the coming years. The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund has to be renewed to continue to honor the injured and ill responders,
survivors and their families for their heroic act and how their health is being punished for it. The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF)
originally operated from 2001–2003. Establishing the fund originally received little debate, and was passed on September 22, 2011, only 11 days after
the original event. The fund provided

Essay on Racial Profiling
Hypothesis/Outline
Hypothesis: The events of September 11th has caused racial profiling, a practice that was vilified by many just months ago, to become a common and
accepted practice used by the government, airline officials, police agencies, and the American public. Profiling has also become a necessary tool used
to prevent further terrorist attacks on the United States.
Map of the Territory:
I. Racial profiling is the practice of "selecting someone for investigation or stronger action on the basis of race, national origin or ethnicity." (Weinstien,
Finnegan and Wantanabe 1) A. Racial profiling is a practice that has been debated and for the most part vilified over the last decade. 1. Before

A. In the days following the attack the majority of Americans reacted to anyone of Arab decent with fear and anger. 1. Between September 11th and
November 9th the American Arab Anti Discrimination Committee confirmed 520 violent incidents directed toward Arab Americans, and 27 incidents
in which Arab Americans have been expelled from a flight. Complaints from Arab Americans to the ADC also include employment discrimination, law
enforcement profiling, and tensions in schools. (ADC, 1) 2. These incidents have been compared to the treatment of Japanese Americans during WW2,
culminating in their internment. B. The government has had a contradictory stance on Racial profiling since September 11th. 1. Publicly President
Bush has denounced the practice of profiling Arab Americans and has urged all of the American people not to practice it. 2. Laws such as the USA
Patriot Act which gives the government sweeping powers to detain, search, watch, anyone based on suspicion. The government has also decided to try
non–citizens in military tribunals instead of civilian courts. 3. Another tactic the government is using is calling in 5,000 men of Arab decent holding
temporary visas in for interviews with police agencies regarding possible knowledge of the terrorist attacks. a) Some police agencies have refused to
do the interviews on the basis that it violates the men's civil rights. Portland police were the first to refuse with many other agencies

Policing Is A Major Effect On The World Terrorist Attacks...
Throughout the world the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 changed the way the world has looked at terrorism. Everything from policing to
the way people board onto airplanes and travel via public transportation has changed in a tremendous way. Policing is a major effect that has changed
at all–different training drills to be prepared for every situation for the different types of units just focusing on terrorism. The NYPD has changed in a
huge way from that day. They have started over five different units to try and combat terrorism. They train every day for every situation and work
hand in hand with the FDNY to make sure they are prepared. Since September 11th the NYPD has stopped over ten major different terrorist attacks on

They even have units stationed overseas in ten countries, including in the Middle East, looking for new plots against New York and learning from
attacks overseas. (Pritchard, J 2016)
The newest unit of the NYPD is their new counterterrorism unit known as Critical Response Command, which started in late November of 2015 and
deployed the first unit out after the terrorist attacks in Paris back in 2015. This new unit so far only consists of about five hundred with only one
hundred and ten starting off. The unit takes two stationed officers from each precinct at critical locations around the city, in addition to the NYPD's
emergency service unit. They will be equipped with heavy weapons, duty vest and smartphones that will help them protect critical locations across the
city. This new unit will work hand in hand with not only the other thousand counter terrorism members of the NYPD but also with the FDNY. They
will train together to make sure they are trained for every situation and are able to handle any situation that may occur within the city.
Al Qaeda is one of the major terrorist organizations in the world, they are responsible for at least thirty attacks worldwide and three on US soil, most
famously they are responsible for the attacks on September 11th 2001. Al Qaeda started in nineteen eighty–eight by the leader Osama Bin Laden, who

The Attack Of September 11th Essay
The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead, we have emerged stronger and more unified. 9/11 was the worst day we
have ever seen but it brought out the best in all of us. 9/11 is the worst and the most devastating day in New York history. This day will never be
forgotten in the history of America. The day that the terrorists thought we were going to separate but it actually brought us even closer than ever. This
day is called and remembered as 9/11.
The effect of 9/11 was very devastating in New York City and this is how it unfolded throughout the day and time on September 11, 2001. According to
http://www.history.com/topics/9–11–timeline, this is a summary of what actually happened on 9/11. At 7:59 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 took off
from Boston going to Los Angeles. At 8:14 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 also took off from London also going to Los Angeles. At 8:19 a.m., Flight
attendants in Flight 11 informed the ground personnel that the plane has been hijacked and then they informed the FBI. At 8:20 a.m., American
Airlines Flight 77 takes off from Dulles International Airport also traveling to Los Angeles. At 8:24 a.m. the hijacker, Mohammed Atta, takes Flight 11
to ground control. At 8:40 a.m., the Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS) got in the air trying to locate Flight 11 after they are informed that it has

9/11: The Role Of Terrorism In The United States
When the citizens of the United States went to bed on September 10th, 2001 they had no idea that the events the next day would change their lives in
one way or another for the rest of their lives. September 11th began just like any other day but by the end of the day, almost 3,000 people died in four
separate deliberate terrorist attacks against the United States. The events on September 11th had shocked the world, caused billions of dollars in
damages and made Americans question their sense of security. The attacks on September 11th, conducted by the Islamic extremist group,al–Qaeda, was
an important event in United States history because it was the deadliest and biggest terrorist attack on American soil and caused extensive death and

Many Americans responded to the September 11 terrorist attacks with fear, anger, as well as a growing intolerance for immigrants, especially against
people who were or appeared to be from the Middle East, a trend that continues to this day. Over 6,000 service members have been killed fighting in
Afghanistan and Iraq along with thousands of innocent civilians in these two countries. The United States war on terror has created anger and
resentment towards the U.S which in turn has the potential to create and recruit more terrorist members. The cost to fight the war on terror has been
astonishingly high. The war on terror has cost over 3 trillion dollars and can account for many of the financial crisis that has plagued the United States
for many years. According to the National Intelligence Estimate report, even though al–Qaeda has been weakened since the September 11 attacks, new
radical Islamic movements have taken its place and have grown stronger and been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. These
movements can be seen in Iraq and Syria. The war on terror in Iraq can be contributed to the rise of ISIL due to the failure of the United States in
creating a stable and non–corrupt government. While Saddam Hussein and his Ba'ath Party were ruthless, he was able to keep a strong hold over his

Within Five minutes of the attack U.S. military officials had started attacking back at the Japanese. (Pearl Harbor Film) We were at a

How Did September 11th Change The World
A bright, yellow sun smiled down from a picturesque blue sky, as a slight breeze made its way through the maze of skyscrapers in New York City on
a cool Tuesday morning. Who could have guessed a morning as benevolent as this could be a source of such inexplicable cruelty? This particular day in
September of 2001 would change the world forever. Without warning, an explosion rang out. A puff of black smoke bellowed upward from the north
tower of the World Trade Centers. An unpleasant silence ensued. As the bystanders below tried to make sense of what they had just seen, a woman let
out a bloodcurdling scream, then another did the same, and then another, until the sounds of the individuals blended together to create one
indistinguishable cry of fear. Before the attack on September 11th, Americans lived under the assumption that they had immunity from the world's
turmoil. But who could blame them; a foreign attack had not taken place on American soil since the war of 1812, not to mention, America's greatest
adversary, the Soviet Union, had disbanded nine years prior, leaving the US with no considerable enemies. Whatever the circumstances under which the
September 11th attacks occurred, the resulting events would change commercial aviation in perpetuity and leave a lasting economic, militaristic, and
humanitarian impact on the world. The first effect of the September 11th attacks could be seen just one day after, when the New York Stock Exchange,

Tragedy
In September 11th– A National Tragedy, James Peck writes about how the tragic event, September 11th has affected our world today. Peck states that
tragedy is a word that has commonly been overused by Americans throughout news articles and magazines when a significant event happens. When
referring to September 11th, the crashing of the twin towers, this is a tragic event.
Peck states, "I do know life is life and theatre is theatre" (735), but we as Americans immediately turn life events into narrations where we ourselves
play the roles of the characters and the plot is the problem that is affecting us in our life. Turning significant events into narrations allows Americans to

understand itself and the strengths that it has. America has one of the strongest military personal in the world, allowing us to be able to react to

September 11th, 2001, the day the earth stood still. Devastation struck the United States as malicious attacks from a radical terrorist group hijacked
flight 11, flight 175, flight 77, and flight 93. During all four hijackings a devastating total of 3,000 civilians, police officers, and firefighters were
killed ("September 11th Fast Facts"). This event was the first major terrorist attack on U.S. soil and it was enough to shake the minds of everybody.
Many things came into question after the attacks such as the could it happen again? What should we do now? How can we improve security for the
future in order to prevent any sort of attack again? The tragedy that took the United States by surprise on September 11th, 2001 lead the way for new
forms of security to arise that positively affect our lives today.
First of all, after September 11th occurred the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) was created in an attempt to modernize and expand our

tragically killing everyone on the plane and killing hundreds on the floors of the World Trade Center. 1,402 deaths occurred in the North Tower, and 87
deaths occurred inside Flight 11 (the plane that crashed into the North Tower.) Immediately after the first attack, NYPD and FDNY forces dispatched

third plane, into the western side of the Pentagon, killing 59 on board and 125 people inside the building. Consequently, the FAA grounds all flights

Conspiracies on the September 11th, 2001 Attacks Even though some conspirators think that the U.S. government was involved in the September 11th,
2001 terrorist attacks, they weren't actually involved. After the attacks occurred on September 11th, 2001, people started to believe that the U.S.
government was behind the attacks. Others believe that the terrorist group, known as al–Qaeda was behind it, but that the government knew about it
and chose not to do anything to try and prevent it. Some of the reasons behind these conspiracies could make sense in some way, but that still doesn't
prove that the government was behind it all. The conspiracies are so easy to believe because most people will believe anything that they read online,

The hijacked plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade center at 8:46 am (9
–11 Research Flight 11). At around the same time that Flight
11 crashed into the North Tower, it was confirmed that another plane, United Airlines Flight 175, had been hijacked. Flight 175 left the Boston Logan
Airport at 8:14 am, which was about 16 minutes after it was scheduled to depart. At 8:42, the plane had gone off its planned course and started to fly
south. The plane flew southwest as it crossed the Hudson River, it kept going to New Jersey until it was southwest from New York. The plane then
made a sharp turn to the northeast so that it could approach the World Trade Center from the southwest. Flight 175 collided with the South Tower of
the World Trade Center at 9:03 am (9–11 Research Flight 175). As shown above, the events that occurred on that day were well documented. The
U.S. government tried to get into contact with Flight 11 once there was the possibility of a hijacking was evident. Air control towers tried repeatedly,
but were unsuccessful at gaining contact. Once it was confirmed that the plane was hijacked, it was too late and the plane had already crashed into the
North Tower of the World Trade Center. People have come to believe that some "unnamed" US officials were behind the attacks. They think that the
hijackers were hired by the United States to take over those planes and make it look like a terrorist attack. Others think because when the government

Terrorist Attacks On The United States
September 11th, 2001, alleged Al–Qaeda members attacked the United States of America with four passenger planes, Boeing 757s. Two planes flew
into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, one plane flew into the Pentagon, and the remaining plane was possibly
targeting the White House but was unsuccessful. People all over America felt an utter shock and disbelief after this tragic event as people demanded
answers. After the terrorist attacks, a portion of Americans started to believe in conspiracies proving the government was behind it all. To add,
Americans also believed that the U.S. government knew in advance of the terrorist attacks on September 11th due to the time between the attacks and
the Bush administration's attempt to investigate, the National Security Association's lack of investigation of suspicious phone calls, and the odd
"collapse" of World Trade Center Seven. However, the government tried to counter attack with the points that Al Qaeda was behind the attacks on
September 11th, Khalid Mohammed was the mastermind behind September 11th, and that debris hit World Trade Center Seven. After the tragedy, the
U.S. government believed that Al–Qaeda hijacked the planes used in the attacks. During investigations after the attacks, the FBI found a copy of the
Koran–the holy book of Islam–and pilot manuals in a hijacker's car at the Logan International Airport in Boston prior to the attacks. The FBI then

9/11: Why It Could Happen Again Essay
September 11th 2001, the day that changed America forever. On this day, 3,000 Americans including civilians, police officers, firefighters and
paramedics were innocently murdered by al–Qaeda terrorist. Commercial airline planes were used as missiles and flown into the World Trade Center
in NY, the Pentagon in the nations capital, and in a open field in Pennsylvania. For America being the most technology advanced nation in the world,
along with having the largest, strongest and most advance military, it is hard to understand how these horrific acts of terrorism could have happened on
U.S. soil. After the World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and the Oklahoma City bombing at the Murrah building, one would think that we would have

A key person in this effort was Attorney General Janet Reno. After the OKC bombing counterterrorism became a top priority for the Department of
Justice. In 1994 Janet Reno and the Department of Justice created the Executive Office for National Security (EONS). At that time, a major problem
between the agencies was information sharing and communication amongst each other. Many felt that this problem by itself was a major cause in the
terrorist attacks that happened in 93 and 95. Reno and the DOF knew this was a problem, they came up with a detailed anti–terrorism package (Reno).
Congress passed this and it became know as the Anti–Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act. In this act, prevention and action were allowed in
terrorist situations dealing with weapons of mass destruction, money laundering and it also gave financial support to state and federal law enforcement
agencies for anti–terrorist activities(Reno). The Justice Department also played a key role in counterterrorism. Due to the DOJ, state and local law
enforcement were trained and equipped to deal with terrorist attack situations. All of these actions were put into place prior to the September 11th
attacks. The American government was well prepared and had all the necessary tools to counter the attacks. The argument comes in that the FBI and
CIA never communicated and didn't share valuable information which both agencies needed because of certain laws

Essay on Educating Americans About Islam
Educating Americans About Islam
The events of September 11th 2001 created dramatic changes in the lives of peoples all across the globe. The devastating aftermath of the attacks of
that day is never ending in the lives of most people – especially those who were personally affected by the horrific acts of terrorism. Muslims, in
particular, have had to experience the backlashes of the September 11th events. An already misunderstood and misrepresented group of people have, in
addition, had to deal with incredible biases, bigotry, misdirected hate, and religious intolerance. Many Americans who, unjustly, attack the religion of
Islam and its faithful followers are, in reality, very ignorant on the subject of Islam and the beliefs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also a great deal of conflict found in Americans' misunderstanding and ignorance of issues regarding women's rights and gender equality within
the religion and practices of Islam. In the context of American society, the traditional wear of Muslim women is often misinterpreted and
misunderstood. The hijab, which is used to veil the heads of Muslim women, rarely goes unnoticed in the eyes of most Americans. Non–Muslims
frequently associate this piece of traditional Islamic attire with ideas of subordination and oppression, while disregarding the religious, cultural, and
personal motivations that influence a woman's decision to wear such an article of clothing. While many American women might view Islamic dress
code as being confining and restrictive, many Muslim women feel that their clothing actually frees them from the negative attention that can stem from
one's physical attire and appearance. Wearing hijab liberates women from "the constricting mores governing appearance such as fashion trends and the
societal expectations of how a woman should look." The modest covering of the hair and body allows a woman to walk freely in public without being
subjected to the suggestive glances and flirtations of men.
There are also cultural practices that are sometimes falsely identified as being a part of Islam. These customs are seen as products of the religion, as
opposed to being the products of the cultural and social

Terrorism : Laws Against Terrorism
Laws Against Terrorism
Terrorism is a widespread tactic used by people all over the world. Terrorists use violence to intimidate civilians in the hopes of a certain political gains.
On September 11th, 2001 terrorists struck the World Trade Centers in the United States. This attack caused mass panic and fear throughout America.
The United States had to create various laws and regulations to keep America safe from another terrorist attack. The laws and regulations that have
passed since the September 11th terrorist attacks have been very helpful in protecting the United States from terrorism.
First, in order to show how effective these laws are, the terroristic acts that happened before the September 11th attack must be discussed. Leading
up to the September 11th attacks, there were quite a few acts of terrorism that could have been addressed many years earlier. Addressing some of
these violent acts could have been preventative in a terrorist attack. The first attacks started as early as the 1970s. In 1979 terrorists attacked an
embassy in Iran and held 52 Americans hostage for over a year. During the 1980s many other United States embassies were bombed in places such as
Lebanon, Kuwait, and Beirut. In 1993 the first world trade center in New York was bombed causing 6 deaths and over 1,000 injuries to American
citizens. These are just a few of the many attacks that were directed against the United States of America.
Second, the September 11th attack brought many laws and

The Attack Of The Bombing Of September Anita Kaplan
September 11, 2001 began as a beautiful day with a clear blue sky, yet today people recognize it as "the single largest loss of life resulting from a
foreign attack"(September 11, 2001 2016). These attacks conducted by the terrorist group, Al Qaeda, killed thousands of people and left their loved
ones shocked and devastated. At first, the people thought the plane crashing into one of the twin towers was just an accident; it was not until the
second collision that people realized America was truly under attack. Though this tragedy lasted only a day, people continue to feel the effects 15 years
later, and most likely will in the future. After this terrible day, the security at many places– such as airports –was strengthened greatly. Many people,
however, continue to live with the looming fear that another tragedy like this may recur. The attacks of September 11, 2001 greatly affected my
mother, Anita Kaplan, because after that tragic day, she became paranoid in regards to the safety of her and her family, afraid to travel on airplanes,
and more aware of both the world news and her surroundings. The events of September 11th did not arise out of thin air, but rather came from decades
of terrorism and the creation of the terrorist group: Al Qaeda. According to Karl DeRouen, terrorism is "the use of violence as a means of instilling
terror or fear for political or ideological gains" (DeRouen 2016). This terrorist group was doing just that: using violence to implant fear in

September 11th Attacks Launched the United States' Global...
Introduction
In response to the September 11th attacks, the United States launched the Global War on Terrorism, invading both Afghanistan and Iraq. Despite these
wars and the necessity for post–conflict stability operations, military leadership, including the Secretary of Defense, had neither desired nor trained its
personnel to effectively conduct stability operations, which require effective interagency collaboration. Failing to effectively leverage interagency
capabilities during the early phases of the 2003 Iraq War at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels prolonged the achievement of the U.S.
military's objective–transferring power to the Iraqis.

However, the quick handover of power to Iraq did not work and the U.S. military had no back–up strategy.
One project which could have potentially provided crucial insight for how to transition power back to the Iraqis was shut down by Rumsfeld. Titled
the Future of Iraq Project, Rumsfeld successfully pushed to shut it down because he had no control over it. When the program was transferred to the
DOD, Rumsfeld went as far as excluding former team members from joining the new team because they were not "pentagon people." Tensions both
within and outside the DOD had already established a negative tone with respect to interagency cooperation. Within the military, General Franks and
secretary Rumsfeld were in strong disagreement about the number of troops necessary for the invasion of Iraq. Outside the military, Secretary
Rumsfeld faced resistance from the CIA and the State department in the immediacy of invading Iraq–the CIA initially resisted linking Saddam with Al
Qaeda and Weapons of Mass Destruction (though this would change under heavy pressure) and the State Department had differing views on strategy
and treatment of POWs. Despite facing resistance from both within and from outside the DOD, Rumsfeld succeeded in establishing the Defense
Department as the lead agency in charge of post–war Iraq. Thus, the military was ill prepared for post–conflict operations not only because it failed to

The Events Of September 11th
One of the most controversial events ever to occur is still being talked about to this day. September 11th, 2001 will forever go down in history as
one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon
thousands of American lives destroyed. One might ask themselves; didn't everything get explained a little too quickly? Why did everyone so
quickly forget the details to this tragedy? The events of September 11th, 2001 are surely going to be remembered for its brutal truth and will always
remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. The events of September 11th happened so fast that lots of details were overlooked but now, six
years later one can finally take a breath and really look into what happened. The inevitable outcome is simply that George W. Bush and his
government secretly put together the events of September 11th to rally the support of the U.S. citizens on many issues. This is such a strong
accusation to make but a little common sense and evidence can quickly refute that our president is anything but a human being. What really happened
to the World Trade Center on September 11th? One of the most confusing things about the tragedy of September 11th is the collapsing of the World
Trade Center's. The World Trade Center's collapse in such a short amount of time that any human with simple common sense would raise an eyebrow
as to why. How many buildings in our history

September 11th Attack Case Study
The perception of the intelligence community prior to the September 11th attacks was basically there was virtually no "homeland security intelligence",
per se. The intelligence arena almost solely focused on activity outside the United States in an effort to keep terrorism from entering the borders. The
intelligence and collection that was conducted inside the borders was done from a criminal aspect. This was executed by law enforcement agencies in
an effort to keep criminals off the streets. The problem with this was there was no focus on terrorism or counterterrorism at this time. During this time,
there was no communication between the actual intelligence agencies and any law enforcement agencies. There was a number of reasons that these
types of agencies did not share the information they obtained. However, these reasons hindered the information that needed to be put out that enabled
others to execute their jobs correctly. Some have contended that this lack of information sharing placed barriers to gathering all the information to
uncover plots (Best, 2003). There was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deficiency the intelligence community was experiencing in this case was insight. This idea is created from failing to envision a reoccurrence of
like events seen in other locations around the world could actually happen here (Kamien, Chertoff, 2012). No one in our government nor in security
thought about an aircraft of this size being purposely flew into the Twin Towers. Security and emergency professionals were a little more
understanding of the fact that an attack "could" happen from below. The events that unfolded in 1993 gave personnel an advantage over this type on
an attack. However, the idea that a radial attack from the air would or could be a reality to kill thousands of people and ultimately brings the towers to

The act also gives federal judges the authority to issue search warrants that are valid in the judge's district as well as outside the judge's jurisdiction.
Before the Patriot Act, if an agent wanted to search a suspect's email, he or she had to get a separate warrant in each district the subject's Internet

The September 11th Attacks And Its Impact On The United...
The September 11th attacks became a turning point in the evolution of security systems and models in the United States. These horrific events also
challenged the security status quo around the globe. The current evidence suggests that the level of planning in the September 11th attacks was truly
unprecedented. The complexity of the activities, systems, resources, and decisions involved eventually translated into a terrorist attack of enormous
scope and magnitude. The September 11th acts of terrorism set the stage for reconsidering the effectiveness of all airport security methodologies and
techniques. The concern continues to be whether or not the continued improvements that are needed to ensure that the measures implemented to boost
airport security do not violate the rights of passengers.
For the passengers of the four flights hijacked on September 11, 2001, that day became the end of everything. According to the 9/11 Commission
(2004), one of the first flights to be boarded was American 11 in Boston. In the meantime, passengers of United 175 were checking in for their flight
(9/11 Commission, 2004). The hijackers of both flights passed a number of security checks and, without any suspicion, boarded both planes. Their
aircraft pushed back from the gates without any delays (9/11 Commission, 2004). At that same time, a group of hijackers was checking in at the

In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able to find differences and similarities in both
articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The
article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on looking at the language used and the
descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish
that, the scene must be described in great detail.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the reader about families who lost loved ones and
how they reacted. To put across the impact of devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal
people. The writer uses words like 'solemnly' to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro.
Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the
people there. The placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping over a fallen colleague. This
picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a 'tough man'. But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child
kneeling and crying, probably over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the picture of the child
was put in because it is moving. At the bottom of the page there are pictures of Sir Rudy Guiliani, Robert de Niro and George Bush. These pictures are

Similarities Between 9/11 And Pearl Harbor
Day of Infamy In this essay i'll be talking about the comparison between 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. On december 7th 1941 japanese fighter planes
attacked the american naval base at pearl harbor near honolulu, hawaii. This tragedy lasted about two hours leaving many injured and killed and
destroying many american naval vessels. On September 11th there was a terrorist attack on the world trade center and the Pentagon where two
planes flew into the buildings as a coordinated suicide attack one plane in each tower and both fell and killed a lot of people. Both sounding very
similar in attacks hold many differences as to how it was done and how much was affected by these attacks. Background Before 8 am on December

The victims of 9/11 suffered many injuries and death due to respiratory infections. Even to this day many civilians who experienced this tragic
event still have to endure the side effects caused by breathing in the dust that was polluted with lead, asbestos , fiberglass, etc. Many people who
were injured suffered burn and eye injuries from the dust and were bleeding from their eyes. The medical workers on this day helped hundreds of
people and could've helped more but didn't get to them because the civilians were either walking wounded or dead. They treated more people on the
scene of the incident then in an actual hospital. Pearl Harbor victims suffered many burn injuries just like those during 9/11. Pearl Harbor victims
also suffered from many different wounds such as flesh wounds, gunshot wounds, large wounds from fragments of bombs, abdominal wounds,
amputations, and fractures. Many men also suffered from asphyxiation which is lack of oxygen causing unconsciousness or death. Some burns were
caused by burning fuel oil but others were caused by the heat from exploding bombs. On December 7th a total range of five hundred battle casualties
and three hundred dead were brought to the hospital in just a couple hours. Burial for those who passed in both tragic events was very slow due to
difficult and even impossible identification of bodies. Some bodies were badly burned and mutilated that they could not be identified through physical
features. Many bodies also could not be identified through fingerprints because the men were either missing fingers or their fingers were badly
damaged. Another reason identification was slow was because only portions of people's bodies were found and brought

A Time Order Sequence Organizational Pattern is when texts are written in a timeline format, such as recipes, directions, and events in history.
September 11th 2001 was an important event in history, so, most books, like this one were written in this organizational pattern. September 11th,

our characters before the attack. They all started the day off like they normally would, most leaving for work Then, the first plane hits the North

start to hold funerals for the deceased. This sections shows how September 11th, 2001 had lasting effects on the people of New York. Lastly, we learn
the identities of who was involved that day. We also learn how our characters are dealing with pain and memories of that day. The last section is short,

The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center
In the early 1960's, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant
skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at
first, but Tobin's proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese–American Minoru Yamasaki was commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki
projected a novel design for a development that included two 110 storey 'twin towers'. Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the
world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The magnificent World Trade Centre complex which in 2001 included five other buildings in

September 11 : The Attacks Of September 11th And 9 / 11
Since the events that shook the United States and the rest of the world on September 11th of 2001 everyone has seen the world differently, terrorist
attacks have happened all over the world and struck fear in people's minds. But for every successful terrorist attack against a target there are
multiple other attacks that where caught before the terrorists could strike. Before the attack could happen law enforcement and other personnel
stopped them because of information that was received or discovered regarding the pending terrorist attack. Where does this information all come
from? September 11th changed the world and the United States in regards to how safe and well protected the world really is against a determined
enemy that has an unpredictable mind. The Department of Homeland Security was formed in 2003 and has changed the way the United States
operates in regards to protecting the United States against future attacks. The Department of Homeland Security as well as other agencies are
providing real time intelligence to many different agencies as well as local law enforcement in the United States. Prior to September 11th lack of
sharing intelligence among federal and state agencies was one reason the events of that day where not discovered or disseminated, the information of
a possible attack existed in bits and pieces but was not shared overall to "connect the dots" (Blum, 2010 pg. 78). The Main intelligence agencies prior

September 11th Attacks and Hunt for Osama Bin Laden
Osama Bin Laden was the most wanted man in the world, after the attacks of September 11. On September 11 2001 two planes crashed in to the Twin

civilians. (Benson) Hours after the attacks the CIA and FBI stared a search to find who was responsible for the attack; with in the day they found that
the terrorism group al–Qaeda was the brains behind the operation. With extensive research American FBI came to the understanding thatOsama Bin

The Effects of 9/11 on Airport Security
The September 11th attacks have had a profound effect on American history. Often referred to as "9/11", these attacks were comprised of a group of
organized terrorists known as Al–Qaeda. This extreme Islamic group assaulted several landmarks in New York City, Washington D.C, and the state of
Pennsylvania. In New York City, two airliner jets were hijacked with passengers aboard and slammed into theWorld Trade Center. "The next attack
resulted in a plane colliding into the Pentagon, government building; the last attack was in Pennsylvania when a plane crashed into a field. In total,

The Influence Of 9/11 On American Culture
September 11th, 2001 is now a date discussed in history lessons. While the post–9/11 generations may not have witnessed the changes of this tragic
event, which rapidly filled every crevice of US society, they have an entire generation ready to narrate what they witnessed on and after that day. The
expeditious reaction made a permanent mark on American culture.
As Frank Litsky and Lena Williams remark in their New York Times article published the day after September 11th, 2001) "The terrorist attacks
yesterday caused the cancellation or postponement of numerous sports events in the United States." (2001, par. 1), it was not merely individuals who felt
the immediate impact, rather entire organizations including those in the sports world, not

What Happened In September 11Th, 2001 Essay

  • 1. What Happened in September 11th, 2001 Essay September 11th, 2001 What happened on September 11th, 2001? A day that will be remembered and never forgotten, a day that many innocent people died because of a terrible tragedy that happened on September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City. To many people it probably just looked like another regular work day, but didn't expect the worst that day. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City ("11 facts about 9/11"). September 11 was one of the saddest days in history. September 11, 2001 was the day that changed the world, and affected the US. People on those building s known as the twin towers weren't only Americans but people of every... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these attacks and attempts and actions were addressed through the existing criminal justice system. Under that legal architecture, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, as well as a host of other statutes and regulations, governed domestic intelligence collection. Exchange of information collected by foreign and domestic agencies was dedicated by a strict set of rules that was interpreted as forbidding pure "intelligence" information from being involved with law enforcement purposes, and conversely made it difficult to involve criminal justice derived information with other agencies. When terrorists were arrested either in the United States or abroad, they were accorded the treatment of any other criminal defendant, also including receiving warnings about the right to silence, and a full–blown criminal jury trial (FAQ about 9/11). During The 9/11 tragedies many people know it was definitely one of the worst things that happened in the US. On any given workday, up to 50,000 employees worked in the World Trade Center twin towers and an additional 40,000 passed through the complex, and more than 400 casualties were police officers and fighters, and over 10,000 people were treated for injuries after the attack ("11 facts about 9/11"). How the September 11th Attacks Impacted Politics and Business The September 11th attacks on the world trade organisation left the world in shock, changing the lives many individuals, organisations, countries and economies. It has affected the world of business and politics in many ways and these effects are still continuing to occur. Following the attack, it was difficult for New York to derive the specific economic costs, hence making it harder for the American government to introduce plans aiming to resolve the situation. However after examining and quantifying the impact of the attack a leading team of New York economists and consultants have detailed the effects. • 3. Specific industries were hit by the 9/11 events, in particular the airline industry. It can be said that no other industry was as immediately affected by the events of 9/11 as the airline industry. Demand for flights and holidays fell dramatically due to the fear of flying at such a fragile time, this hit the industry hard, causing sales to fall dramatically. As a result, a vast amount of jobs were lost at the worlds largest airline companies and only a government bail out prevented others from falling into bankruptcy. These include Sabena (Belgium), Swissair, Ansett Australia, and Vanguard Airlines ( United States). The situation is however slowly improving, although stably not spectacularly. Much of the trust in the safety of air travel seems to have been regained a year after and some of the jobs have also been regained. However since the war on Iraq begun, consumers are again wary of air travel due to the risk of another attack. Tourism was another industry hit hard. Some claim it was partly due to the slump in demand for air travel, which is the most common form of transport from one country to another. Overseas visits to the United Kingdom for example fell by 9% for 2001. Tourism is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Attacks on September 11th 2001 September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to be a freak accident turned into a horrific nightmare for our country, America was under attack. On the morning of the attacks a group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial jetliners headed to California and purposively crashed two into the Twin Towers of theWorld Trade Center. The last plane fell into a Pennsylvania field never reaching its final destination, The White House. These attacks on the United States were formulated by the Islamic culture that has been planning this for many years. Shortly after these Twin Towers fell, the United States started mourning for the loss of those citizens killed in the violent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit door. The hijackers attempted knocking the passengers off balance by pitching the nose of the airplane up and down. The passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the hijacker knew they were about to break through. The flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot decided to aim the airplane going 580 miles per hour into an abandoned field only about twenty minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on attacking the White House (CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the demolition many engineers, contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people were very concerned with recovering any survivors that were trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the wreckage needed to be moved from the scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108 thousand trucks were used to transport materials to multiple facilities so that the wreckage can be investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the hijackers and their planes. • 5. September 11th Attacks: Ethnocentrism In The United States Ethnocentrism might have contributed to the memorable September 11th attacks in the United States. Ethnocentrism being the act of considering one's cultural values, religion, and language more valuable and rightful before other ethnic groups. Ethnocentrism involves evaluating another people's culture and viewing them as wrong, or immoral. Religious difference may have played a key role on the attacks. The Al–Qaeda, who are Muslims, claimed that United states were interfering with their religious practices by putting their troops in Saudi Arabia, which is closer to Mecca. They also claimed that the United States were supporting Israel in the killing of Muslims in Philistines. The Al–Qaeda developed hatred towards United States for being more of a Christian country. They felt Christians were killing them because they were Muslims. Therefore, they launched these attacks as a revenge, also as a defense for fellow Muslims. On the other hand, Americans decided to fight back, and end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone can live in a multicultural society and fit very well. Ethnocentrism entails being centered or considering your own culture as right, and negatively evaluating other people's cultural practices. One can avoid being ethnocentric by striking a balance between cultures and tolerating other groups with their cultures without judging them based on their practices. Civilization and education systems have contributed a lot in impacting knowledge of cultural relativism to the young generations. This has been a vital tool to fight ethnocentrism, for instance, being an immigrant in the United States, where there are different cultures, it can be challenging. • 6. The Bombing Of The United States September 11th, 2001, the United States of America was attacked on its soil when alleged Al–Qaeda members hijacked four passenger planes, Boeing 757s. Two planes flew into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, one plane flew into the Pentagon, and the remaining plane was possibly targeting the White House or the Capitol but was unsuccessful. People all over America felt an utter shock and disbelief after this tragic event as people demanded answers. After the terrorist attacks, a portion of Americans started to believe in conspiracies proving the government was behind it all. The FBI then traced down the hijackers to discover and confirm that they had been living in the United States for several months leading up to the attacks on September 11, 2001. The luggage of the discovered hijacker's leader, Mohammed Atta, was never loaded on Flight 11 and contained specific handwritten instructions that told him and his men to be well dressed for the mission and to recite religious verses from the Koran to bring courage as they completed the mission. If they followed these instructions, they would receive heavenly rewards afterwards. The evidence discovered by the FBI supports that Al–Qaeda was targeting the United States and was behind the attacks as they prepared for months. Al–Qaeda strived to make not only the United States suffer, but the nation as a whole. As the government blamed Al–Qaeda for the events on September 11th, conspiracies disagreed and said that the Bush administration was behind it all due to the procrastination of a commission led by Bush to investigate the events. Fourteen months after the attacks on September 11th, Bush's creation of the special commission was no longer delayed. In November of 2002, Bush named Henry Kissinger as the chairman of this commission. • 9. The Attack On The World Trade Center The attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001, had negative health consequences beyond the staggering loss of life. The James L. Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act, signed into law by President Obama in 2010, established the World Trade Center Health Program that ensured those affected by 9/11 received monitoring and treatment services for 9/11 related health problems up until 2011 and reopened the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 to new applicants. The act was renewed in 2015 which included the reauthorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, and over 72,000 responders and survivors are allowed to get medical monitoring, treatment, and compensation for their injuries. However, while federally–funded health care and medical monitoring for injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors has been made permenant, the compensation program will expire in 2020 even while expecting thousands more cancer cases from exposure to 9/11 toxins in the coming years. The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund has to be renewed to continue to honor the injured and ill responders, survivors and their families for their heroic act and how their health is being punished for it. The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) originally operated from 2001–2003. Profiling has also become a necessary tool used to prevent further terrorist attacks on the United States. Map of the Territory: I. Racial profiling is the practice of "selecting someone for investigation or stronger action on the basis of race, national origin or ethnicity." (Weinstien, Finnegan and Wantanabe 1) A. Complaints from Arab Americans to the ADC also include employment discrimination, law enforcement profiling, and tensions in schools. (ADC, 1) 2. These incidents have been compared to the treatment of Japanese Americans during WW2, culminating in their internment. B. The government has had a contradictory stance on Racial profiling since September 11th. 1. Publicly President Bush has denounced the practice of profiling Arab Americans and has urged all of the American people not to practice it. 2. Laws such as the USA Patriot Act which gives the government sweeping powers to detain, search, watch, anyone based on suspicion. The government has also decided to try non–citizens in military tribunals instead of civilian courts. 3. Another tactic the government is using is calling in 5,000 men of Arab decent holding temporary visas in for interviews with police agencies regarding possible knowledge of the terrorist attacks. a) Some police agencies have refused to do the interviews on the basis that it violates the men's civil rights. The United States war on terror has created anger and resentment towards the U.S which in turn has the potential to create and recruit more terrorist members. The cost to fight the war on terror has been astonishingly high. The war on terror has cost over 3 trillion dollars and can account for many of the financial crisis that has plagued the United States for many years. According to the National Intelligence Estimate report, even though al–Qaeda has been weakened since the September 11 attacks, new radical Islamic movements have taken its place and have grown stronger and been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. These movements can be seen in Iraq and Syria. • 15. How Did September 11th Change The World A bright, yellow sun smiled down from a picturesque blue sky, as a slight breeze made its way through the maze of skyscrapers in New York City on a cool Tuesday morning. Who could have guessed a morning as benevolent as this could be a source of such inexplicable cruelty? This particular day in September of 2001 would change the world forever. Without warning, an explosion rang out. A puff of black smoke bellowed upward from the north tower of the World Trade Centers. An unpleasant silence ensued. As the bystanders below tried to make sense of what they had just seen, a woman let out a bloodcurdling scream, then another did the same, and then another, until the sounds of the individuals blended together to create one indistinguishable cry of fear. Before the attack on September 11th, Americans lived under the assumption that they had immunity from the world's turmoil. But who could blame them; a foreign attack had not taken place on American soil since the war of 1812, not to mention, America's greatest adversary, the Soviet Union, had disbanded nine years prior, leaving the US with no considerable enemies. Whatever the circumstances under which the September 11th attacks occurred, the resulting events would change commercial aviation in perpetuity and leave a lasting economic, militaristic, and humanitarian impact on the world. At that time, a major problem between the agencies was information sharing and communication amongst each other. Many felt that this problem by itself was a major cause in the terrorist attacks that happened in 93 and 95. Reno and the DOF knew this was a problem, they came up with a detailed anti–terrorism package (Reno). Congress passed this and it became know as the Anti–Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act. In the context of American society, the traditional wear of Muslim women is often misinterpreted and misunderstood. The hijab, which is used to veil the heads of Muslim women, rarely goes unnoticed in the eyes of most Americans. Non–Muslims frequently associate this piece of traditional Islamic attire with ideas of subordination and oppression, while disregarding the religious, cultural, and personal motivations that influence a woman's decision to wear such an article of clothing. While many American women might view Islamic dress code as being confining and restrictive, many Muslim women feel that their clothing actually frees them from the negative attention that can stem from one's physical attire and appearance. Wearing hijab liberates women from "the constricting mores governing appearance such as fashion trends and the societal expectations of how a woman should look." The modest covering of the hair and body allows a woman to walk freely in public without being subjected to the suggestive glances and flirtations of men. The laws and regulations that have passed since the September 11th terrorist attacks have been very helpful in protecting the United States from terrorism. First, in order to show how effective these laws are, the terroristic acts that happened before the September 11th attack must be discussed. Leading up to the September 11th attacks, there were quite a few acts of terrorism that could have been addressed many years earlier. Addressing some of these violent acts could have been preventative in a terrorist attack. The first attacks started as early as the 1970s. These attacks conducted by the terrorist group, Al Qaeda, killed thousands of people and left their loved ones shocked and devastated. At first, the people thought the plane crashing into one of the twin towers was just an accident; it was not until the second collision that people realized America was truly under attack. Though this tragedy lasted only a day, people continue to feel the effects 15 years later, and most likely will in the future. After this terrible day, the security at many places– such as airports –was strengthened greatly. Many people, however, continue to live with the looming fear that another tragedy like this may recur. Within the military, General Franks and secretary Rumsfeld were in strong disagreement about the number of troops necessary for the invasion of Iraq. Outside the military, Secretary Rumsfeld faced resistance from the CIA and the State department in the immediacy of invading Iraq–the CIA initially resisted linking Saddam with Al Qaeda and Weapons of Mass Destruction (though this would change under heavy pressure) and the State Department had differing views on strategy and treatment of POWs. September 11th, 2001 will forever go down in history as one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon thousands of American lives destroyed. One might ask themselves; didn't everything get explained a little too quickly? Why did everyone so quickly forget the details to this tragedy? The events of September 11th, 2001 are surely going to be remembered for its brutal truth and will always remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. The events of September 11th happened so fast that lots of details were overlooked but now, six years later one can finally take a breath and really look into what happened. The inevitable outcome is simply that George W. Bush and his government secretly put together the events of September 11th to rally the support of the U.S. citizens on many issues. This is such a strong accusation to make but a little common sense and evidence can quickly refute that our president is anything but a human being. What really happened to the World Trade Center on September 11th? One of the most confusing things about the tragedy of September 11th is the collapsing of the World Trade Center's. The World Trade Center's collapse in such a short amount of time that any human with simple common sense would raise an eyebrow as to why. How many buildings in our history ... • 31. September 11th Attack Case Study The perception of the intelligence community prior to the September 11th attacks was basically there was virtually no "homeland security intelligence", per se. The intelligence arena almost solely focused on activity outside the United States in an effort to keep terrorism from entering the borders. The intelligence and collection that was conducted inside the borders was done from a criminal aspect. This was executed by law enforcement agencies in an effort to keep criminals off the streets. The problem with this was there was no focus on terrorism or counterterrorism at this time. During this time, there was no communication between the actual intelligence agencies and any law enforcement agencies. There was a number of reasons that these types of agencies did not share the information they obtained. However, these reasons hindered the information that needed to be put out that enabled others to execute their jobs correctly. Some have contended that this lack of information sharing placed barriers to gathering all the information to uncover plots (Best, 2003). There was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The deficiency the intelligence community was experiencing in this case was insight. This idea is created from failing to envision a reoccurrence of like events seen in other locations around the world could actually happen here (Kamien, Chertoff, 2012). No one in our government nor in security thought about an aircraft of this size being purposely flew into the Twin Towers. Security and emergency professionals were a little more understanding of the fact that an attack "could" happen from below. The events that unfolded in 1993 gave personnel an advantage over this type on an attack. However, the idea that a radial attack from the air would or could be a reality to kill thousands of people and ultimately brings the towers to the ground was not generally ... • 33. After the September 11th terrorist attack on the World... After the September 11th terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre by the Islamic radical group al –Qaeda and the 2001 Anthrax attacks on two senators and several news media offices, congress rushed to pass the USA Patriot Act, which roughly is an Act to deter and punish acts of terrorism in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools, and for other purposes. After these unrelated terrorist attacks happened within weeks of each other congress knew reform legislature was needed. Before the Patriot Act, if an agent wanted to search a suspect's email, he or she had to get a separate warrant in each district the subject's Internet Service Provider (ISP) appeared in in order to search the suspect's email. As the FBI Director continued in his speech to congress "this frustrating and time–consuming process can be averted without reducing judicial oversight."(FOOTNOTE 1) The time that used to be spent seeking multiple warrant for each district is now being used more productively to investigate terrorists, and preventing attacks from happening. Thirdly the Patriot Act has allowed the Department of Justice agencies able to fight a 21st century battle against terrorism with 21st century tools. The Patriot Act approves the usage of roving wiretaps, court ordered pen registers, and trap and trace devices to track internet communications to name a few. Focusing on the roving wiretaps Mueller said, "it is standard operating procedure for terrorists to rapidly change locations and switch cell phones to evade surveillance." (FOOTNOTE 1). • 34. The September 11th Attacks And Its Impact On The United... The September 11th attacks became a turning point in the evolution of security systems and models in the United States. These horrific events also challenged the security status quo around the globe. The current evidence suggests that the level of planning in the September 11th attacks was truly unprecedented. The complexity of the activities, systems, resources, and decisions involved eventually translated into a terrorist attack of enormous scope and magnitude. The September 11th acts of terrorism set the stage for reconsidering the effectiveness of all airport security methodologies and techniques. The concern continues to be whether or not the continued improvements that are needed to ensure that the measures implemented to boost airport security do not violate the rights of passengers. For the passengers of the four flights hijacked on September 11, 2001, that day became the end of everything. According to the 9/11 Commission (2004), one of the first flights to be boarded was American 11 in Boston. In the meantime, passengers of United 175 were checking in for their flight (9/11 Commission, 2004). The hijackers of both flights passed a number of security checks and, without any suspicion, boarded both planes. Their aircraft pushed back from the gates without any delays (9/11 Commission, 2004). At that same time, a group of hijackers was checking in at the American Airlines flight 77 to Los Angeles (9/11 Commission, 2004). They passed routine security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Comparing Articles on the September 11th Attack in Two... In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must be described in great detail.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people. The writer uses words like 'solemnly' to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a 'tough man'. But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the picture of the child was put in because it is moving. • 36. Similarities Between 9/11 And Pearl Harbor Day of Infamy In this essay i'll be talking about the comparison between 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. On december 7th 1941 japanese fighter planes attacked the american naval base at pearl harbor near honolulu, hawaii. This tragedy lasted about two hours leaving many injured and killed and destroying many american naval vessels. On September 11th there was a terrorist attack on the world trade center and the Pentagon where two planes flew into the buildings as a coordinated suicide attack one plane in each tower and both fell and killed a lot of people. Both sounding very similar in attacks hold many differences as to how it was done and how much was affected by these attacks. The victims of 9/11 suffered many injuries and death due to respiratory infections. Even to this day many civilians who experienced this tragic event still have to endure the side effects caused by breathing in the dust that was polluted with lead, asbestos , fiberglass, etc. Many people who were injured suffered burn and eye injuries from the dust and were bleeding from their eyes. The medical workers on this day helped hundreds of people and could've helped more but didn't get to them because the civilians were either walking wounded or dead. They treated more people on the scene of the incident then in an actual hospital. Pearl Harbor victims suffered many burn injuries just like those during 9/11. Pearl Harbor victims also suffered from many different wounds such as flesh wounds, gunshot wounds, large wounds from fragments of bombs, abdominal wounds, amputations, and fractures. Many men also suffered from asphyxiation which is lack of oxygen causing unconsciousness or death. Some burns were caused by burning fuel oil but others were caused by the heat from exploding bombs. On December 7th a total range of five hundred battle casualties and three hundred dead were brought to the hospital in just a couple hours. Burial for those who passed in both tragic events was very slow due to difficult and even impossible identification of bodies. Some bodies were badly burned and mutilated that they could not be identified through physical features. Many bodies also could not be identified through fingerprints because the men were either missing fingers or their fingers were badly damaged. Another reason identification was slow was because only portions of people's bodies were found and brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center In the early 1960's, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Austin J Tobin, brought forward the proposal for a giant skyscraper complex in order to accommodate for much needed office space in Lower Manhattan. The plan was met with considerable opposition at first, but Tobin's proposal eventually succeeded, and Japanese–American Minoru Yamasaki was commissioned to design the building. Yamasaki projected a novel design for a development that included two 110 storey 'twin towers'. Upon completion in 1971, they were the tallest towers in the world, a record the infrastructure held for two years. The following screams and sight of blood caused panic among the passengers. A passenger tried to interpose one of the hijackers, but he was also stabbed. The remaining passengers watched on helplessly as the hijackers entered the cockpit. The aircraft was now in the hands of the al–Qaeda hijackers, one of whom was himself a trained pilot. Mohammed Atta, lead hijacker, turned the aircraft sharply to the south and set a new course for New York City. At 8.46am American Airlines Flight 11, appeared low in the sky above Manhattan. But for every successful terrorist attack against a target there are multiple other attacks that where caught before the terrorists could strike. Before the attack could happen law enforcement and other personnel stopped them because of information that was received or discovered regarding the pending terrorist attack. September 11th changed the world and the United States in regards to how safe and well protected the world really is against a determined enemy that has an unpredictable mind. The Department of Homeland Security was formed in 2003 and has changed the way the United States operates in regards to protecting the United States against future attacks. The Department of Homeland Security as well as other agencies are providing real time intelligence to many different agencies as well as local law enforcement in the United States. Prior to September 11th lack of sharing intelligence among federal and state agencies was one reason the events of that day where not discovered or disseminated, the information of a possible attack existed in bits and pieces but was not shared overall to "connect the dots" (Blum, 2010 pg. 78).
