Marxism and its Role in Inequality in America
Marxism, by Karl Marx and associate Friedrich Engles, is a theory written in the second half of the 1800s. The theory highlights the capitalistic impact
it has on society in whole, including how it exploits the different classes and their differing struggles. Withcapitalism making way into the picture of
humanity, Karl Marx views the system as a step closer to a more socialistic society that will one day conquer the inequality between people. Marxism
reflects the American capitalist system by highlighting the divide in experiences between the classes and how a range of hierarchies' influence those
who are categorized in these classes.
Viewed by Marxism as a structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who were non–white were exploited for their labor, forced out from their nation and then forced into forming a colonial relationship with
white people. Although, it is true people who were white but poor were exploited, and discriminated against, it was not as bad compared to Mexicans,
Native Americans and African Americans. The matter of race also applied to sex; Women who were white had more rights and were paid higher
compared to women who were not white. Although they were still less valued than white males, white women were still held higher and paid more
than those who are of color.
The divide between people of color and those who are not of color is a product due to Institutional Racism; Racism has been bred so deep into the
American economic and political society that it has become a part of everyday life and isn't as easily identifiable, it comes as natural. In order to stop
institutional racism, a revolutionary and extensive event must occur to help reverse the affects of racial

Analysis Of ' The ' Of ' Ragtime '
Socialism in America
E3 Argumentative essay
Sonia Rani
3/17/2017
Ragtime is an interesting depiction of cultural and political change. It can be argued that the story is not just a reflection of the events in the 20th
Century but the novel reflects the events that continue to happen until today in socialism. For instance, the novel gives a glimpse of the kind of life
experienced by many African Americans. They were victimized by the society and the persons in authority refuse to help them. Even in the 21st
Century, it cannot be denied that African Americans are still subjected to discrimination in socialism. Throughout the stories in this novel character
represent that change and partiality. Because of the massive development, there was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But he proves himself a good example of socialism as socialist. In Ragtime, historical elements like E. Zapata, Emma Goldman, Coalhouse, mother's
younger brother, Tateh and district attorney reveals as a political example.
In socialism, the state also has a character of the class, but its content is opposed to that of the bourgeois state: it becomes, for the first time in history,
a state of the clear majority exploited against the tiny exploitative or privileged minority (Rozman, 2014). Rozman (2014) explains that Conversions to
traditional socialism became more evident after World War II, with the Cold War and later with the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics. So, as Ragtime, because it was written in about 20th century. Since then, socialist regimes have been adopting more flexible stances. Real
socialism is developed socialism during the twentieth century. Currently, the socialist countries are Cuba, China, North Korea, Laos, and Vietnam.
Ragtime also depicts politics between relationship, at court, as a victim, and attacking people for the sake of justice. On the other hand, ideal socialism
is that developed in the nineteenth century, the main thinker of socialism was Karl Marx, for him this regime arose from capitalism and its means of
production, having its control played by the proletarian, as well as the state, which would later be extinguished, giving rise to communism that

African Social & Political Thought
PHL 305: AFRICAN SOCIAL AND POLITICAL THOUGHT
QUESTION: TAKE ONE AFRICAN SOCIO–POLITICAL PHILOSOPHER AND DISCUSS:
A. HIS POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY
B. THE PROBLEM HE TRIED TO SOLVE
C. THE EXTENT TO WHICH HE WAS SUCCESSFUL.
African socialism was one of the earliest theories proffered by many African leaders at the outset of independence. Leaders such as Dr. Kwame
Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Obafemi Awolowo and Leopold Senghor all supported this concept but had different approaches to it.
In this essay, my focus will be on Julius Nyerere and his approach to the idea of African socialism.

In the area of achieving self–reliance by African states particularly Tanzania, Nyerere developed an educational philosophy which could be approached
under two main headings; Education for Self–reliance and Adult education. His interest in Self–reliance shares a great deal with Gandhi's approach to
'Basic Education'. There was a strong concern to counteract the colonialists' assumptions and practices of the dominant, formal means of education,
which he saw as enslaving and oriented towards 'western' interest and norms. It was designed to transmit the values of the colonizing power and to train
individuals for the service of the colonial state. It induced attitudes of subservience, human inequality and individualism, and emphasized white–collar
skills. The context of colonial education was largely alien and the entire system was organized by racial segregation. For Nyerere who was once a
teacher himself, he believed that education had to work for the common good, foster co–operation and promote equality. He asserted that the school
curriculum should go hand in hand with de–emphasizing the import of formal examinations which merely assesses a person's ability to learn facts. He
said it was necessary for African states to abandon examinations that are geared towards

Ideologies In 19th Century Western Europe
Ideologies in 19th Century Western Europe
Most of the new ideas and principles emerged during the 19th century in the Western Europe. These ideologies were introduced and analysed by
multiple individuals. Liberalism, socialism, nationalism and imperialism are the some of the powerful ideologies that impacted the society
development. The 19th century ism's principles were influential during their time and have changed over the years. The ideologies are very influential
till this day and it is the main reason of why our modern society is the way it is. Even though each of of these ideologies have different beliefs,
principles and goals, they have many similarities supporting each other.
Western Europe has been governed by a monarchy system for many years which limited rights of citizens and the representative government. But
during the 19th century the ideology of liberalism which derived from the Enlightenment phase, emphasized the civil rights of citizens, representative
government and protection of private property. Liberals wanted to have a written constitution and a government that leaned towards democracy. They
also wanted to expand franchise, the right to vote, however the liberals still were not sure if women should have the right to vote yet. Also liberals
were more for laissez–faire philosophy which is a minimum government intervention. They believed the less government involvement, the better the
economy will be. Liberalism did not focus on equality in economic

The History Of Communism
Communism is an economic system where the government owns the means of production, and is one where there is no private ownership because it is
under the control of the communities or the state. Since its proposal in 1848 by German Philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, in their book,
"The Communist Manifesto", there are many who have been influenced by the writings of Marx and Engels. This has led to many revolutions and
establishments of governments with the "communist ideals" of peace, solidarity, and labour. The communists of today do not have to live in fear as the
communists during the McCarthy era, where thousands of Americans were monitored and questioned regarding their loyalty to the United States.
During this time, the "Red... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who oppose them, from everyday people to the media, will point to the statistics. They will state that communism killed 100 million people in the
20th century, but the counterargument to that is simply to point out the fact thatcapitalism kills, and has killed, more people every 5.5 years. One need
only look at the statistics, such as those mentioned in the article: "Attempting the Impossible – Calculating Capitalisms Death Toll" where the numbers
are crunched together, and by looking throughout the history of capitalism and its influences. Also, one can think of many more deaths ranging from
African slavery, Manifest Destiny, the colonization of Africa, and to the many wars brought on or backed by capitalist countries. The claim of the
opposition is always that capitalist countries were protecting their interests and allies, but it does not warrant the unrestrained use of excessive force,
especially when non–capitalist countries attempt it and are met with massive condemnations and sanctions by capitalist countries. Opposition will
say that communism starves the people. In the dictatorship of countries claiming to be communists, this is true, but to those who use it to point to
the "evils" of communism need to see that capitalism is no better, it is even worse. In capitalist societies, particularly the United States, that boasts
of power and prestige, one has to wonder why millions die in a country that has the means and equipment to feed the hungry, but would rather spend
it on big businesses while an old man struggles to keep his small store from failing, a country that can provide healthcare coverage to all, but would
rather have a family pay out of pocket. They can do all of this, but they do not. Yet they feel that they are in the right to call communism "evil", and
say that it will not work. It will not work for the big

How Did The Socialist Party Influence Social Reform?
During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the socialist movement was destined to hold collective control of the modern economy. Socialism, in popular
definition is the political movement to replace the profit motive and private ownership of productive property (Schneirov 2003). In 1901, the Socialist
Party of America was born in order to meet these goals. The primary purpose of the party was to eradicate capitalism over time and to develop political
reform (ency). Although the Socialist Party of America did not have the impact that the Democratic and Republican parties had, it is still regarded as
having great influence on reform. This paper will focus on the background of the party, political influences, contributions, political achievements,...

The labor movement grew out of the need to protect the common interest of employees. For example, according to Seidler (1961) "They pushed for
social and humanitarian causes such as, old age pensions, natural resource conservation, government aid to the unemployed and disarmament" (210).
These were many issues that were not being targeted by other parties during that timeframe. However, Persuading americans to join the american labor
movement or even vote for it was constantly rejected. Due to the lack of influence in American politics, it was surprising how much of an influence
the Socialist party contributed to the labor movement. For instance Seidler (1961) states "The impact of the Socialist Party on the American labor
movement goes far beyond the fact that some labor leaders of great national prominence have been significantly affected by it" (211). The Socialist
Party of America began a movement that reformed the labor force in the United

The Impact Of Rosa Luxemburg
The impact of Rosa Luxemburg's materialist conception of history in Social Reform or Revolution, arguably became greater after national
independence had been achieved in the nations of the Third World. Luxemburg's assassination afforded her opponents the opportunity to completely
undermine her theory – her work was dismissed by her critics as it was seen to being completely fallacious in its interpretation of the accumulation of
capital. However, as Luxemburg's particular strand of revolutionary Marxism lost its momentum in Europe, it began to pick up traction in the
developing nations of the Third World. The strength of her critique of revisionism, thus, lies in its ability to transcend both international boundaries and
political epoch's. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A large portion of the Black population who voted for the African National Congress (ANC) in the inaugural democratic election, did so because they
believed that a government–approved socialist revolution was on the cards. The ANC and the South African Communist Party (SACP), under the
leadership of Joe Slovo, had been open about their commitment to their two–stage strategy – the struggles against apartheid and capitalism were two
separate battles, that had to be addressed in two separate stages. National liberation would need to be achieved, before the question of a socialist
revolution could be addressed. Luxemburg's critique of revisionism seemed to reign true in this scenario – the struggle against apartheid came to
overshadow the struggle for a socialist transformation. The mass revolutionary struggle of the 1980's came to be replaced by a reluctant acceptance of
reformism. The reformists within the South African government argued that capitalism had reached a stage in which it was no longer necessary to call
for revolution. While it proved possible to remove the political institutions of apartheid within the framework of capitalism, the partnership between
capitalism and racial domination could not be removed without the worker–driven socialist

The Major Classical Theorists Influenced The Economics Of...
Three major classical theorists have attempted to interpret why societies change. They are Adam Smith, Max Weber, and Karl Marx (Franks, 35).
These three have inspired a lot of people down the years. Adam Smith is known as the theoretical father of modern economics. In 1776, Smith argued
that the "invisible hand" of the market would change the economics of a nation and it would make the nation better. In his invisible hand theory, he
states that if one person strived to achieve success, then the person would simultaneously benefit people around him. The prices and quality will be
determined by relationships between consumers and sellers through supply and demand (Franks, 34). In other words, the market will not be regulated

The history of Marxism is controversial, and the ideas have influenced a lot of men and women to address social issues. Karl Marx stated that the
occurrence of capitalism brought humanity a necessary step closer to socialism and the conquest of human inequality (Frank, 30). This is an inevitable
part of the development of human society.
According to scholar Mario Barrera, traditional Marxists thinks that a class is a group of people who have a similar relationship in things that they
use in their daily lives, such as food, houses, and appliances (Franks, 30). Also, Marxists address that each society has its own particular class
structure. In addition, Marxists have defined three primary classes that currently exist in a capitalist social system, and they can be found in the United
States. The first group of classes consists of capitalists, people who own and control an enormous proportion of productive property in the United
States. Having productive property means being able to produce products, such as producing products that people demand. In this case, capitalists are
wealthy because they hold an overwhelming amount of productive property.
The second group of classes consists of workers, people who have cars, computers. cell phones, and homes, but they own little of productive property.
The reason is that most of their income comes from their wages, salaries, and tips. They do not own company themselves. The third group of classes
compose by the bourgeoisie, who

Essay about Choosing Freedom over Equality
This is not an easy motion to debate on. Thus, this piece of writing will mention, discuss and bring forward the irrationality of choosing either
freedom over equality or visa versa, without having a harmonious counterbalance between the two factors, implemented by a regulatory body. It will
also include examples of countries which "total freedom" or "total equality" is in practice, where the search for total freedom led to total anarchy, or
the pursuit for total equality curtailed the freedom in all areas of life. This short writing will be concluded with a personal view.
The idea of choosing either one of these two factors will somehow seems vague. Equality without freedom is suffering and monotony (communism)
whereas freedom without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All citizens were to be treated equally in regard to Karl Max's ideology, but equality in that sense was incompatible with the situation the country was in.
A struggle for freedom started to take form just after 5 years of scientific socialism, opposing the total equality with which the state imposed upon it is
citizens. And in 1990, after many years of rebellion, the citizens were successful to overthrow the "Scientific–Socialism" based government but
unfortunately could not replace it with a fair government. Instead Somalia's quest for total freedom became worse than total equality.
Equality in freedom can mostly be seen in democratic countries where, citizens are able to politically elect their leaders, express their views and
economically have an equal opportunity, though that extent of freedom and equality is restricted by a state regulation.
As humans naturally, we believe that it is rather better to be free than not to be free, and in some cases we don't consider equality to be of great
worth. One good example that proofs that theory true is, the African slaves in the western world, who fought and campaigned to be freed from slavery
and to see slavery business abolished all together. They were struggling to be free, without having in mind that equality is indeed necessary in their
struggle. As we know they were later freed from being slaves and regarded as freemen and women, but the main obstacle that hindered their progress in
integrating into their

Critical Evaluation of African Socialism, with Regards to...
In 1960s when African states gain independence, many leaders felt that they can not celebrate their victory if they continue using the
economic–political system that has been established by colonizers such as capitalism. They perceived capitalism as the bearer of social inequalities, and
ignorance that exists within societies. They wanted a unique economic and political system with no resemblance of outside influence. AfricanSocialism
was then a unique political ideology and identity of Africa. Julius Nyerere was one of the leading proponents of African socialism "African traditional
way of life" (Hyden, 1980: 200). African socialism as an ideology has its own successes and also its own criticism. Therefore, this essay will critically

Ujamaa is based on Arusha declaration of 1967 the first political effort to fight the accumulation of capital resources in hands of elites which ends in
class divisions and struggles. Nyerere proposed three important assumptions beneath traditional Ujamaa living: the recognition and respect of one
another, common ownership and the elimination of class divisions (Cameron 2007: 130–132).
African socialism failed to deliver its promises and saved people from the aftermaths of colonialism. Many African leaders failed to put in practice
policies that they preached during the African socialism adoption, they also lacked proper planning. Therefore, African socialism seemed as the
mislaid philosophy idealism, worthless development with broken political promises which contained so many contradictions that then hindered its
successfulness. Ujamaa policies shared the same basis and fallacy of development that has propelled and inhibited successive development initiative
in Africa. This is objectification of African peasants and rural settlers as the hopeless sufferers of colonial era who were supposed to be lifted to
higher levels of social and material well being. Thus, Ujamaa's dedication to modernization paradigm ended in a condition where improving well being
of peasants perceived as alienating them from their cultural and social realities to the reinvented colonial practices (Cameron, 2007: 116).

Character Analysis : ' The Eyes Of People With Grand...
Character is defined as "the mental and moral qualities, distinctive to an individual." Character is in fact something that all human beings have the
ability to shape and curve as we grow older. Each day, each opportunity, each encounter, can prove to change our character day in and day out.
Character is essentially a direct source of success for most. The better mental and moral qualities that person wields, the better their chances are at
becoming accomplished in life. Character through the eyes of people with grand eminence such as George C. Marshall and A. Phillip Randolph
seems to take a while to achieve. Their character is so advantageous to most because of the process it took for them to attain it. The constitution of
character for both of these individuals was beyond a lengthy course of action. It took many years for these men to become great leaders in their
respected fields, their character did not transpire overnight. These men are now venerated for infinite generations by those who have the utmost
opportunity to learn about their legacies. So, what allows for a person to attain good character that will help to translate in success in the future? The
answer lies in precious time. Time is key to the development of character, as the longer one can develop their character the more success they will
have throughout their life. George C. Marshall, our 15th US army chief of staff, 50th Secretary of State, and 3rd Secretary of Defense, was the
self–master of character.

The Screwmen's Benevolent Association, The Knights of Labor and the Farmers Alliance are a few of the leading labor organizations in Texas.
Developed as the political and human resource representation for many of Texas' post civil war laborers, these organizations invested considerable
time and funding in advocating for the concerns of the working class. Established socialist communities were natural supporters for unionization based
on their beliefs in cooperation for the greater good. Within a transformative decade for Texas workers, the Knights of Labor reached the pinnacle of its
influence, failed a railroad strike in 1886 and eventually transformed into an agrarian and mechanics' organization. (A&M and Reid 2009) The
growing influence of the Knights of Labor improved the standing of socialists by extension. In reality, the union was not socialist organization by
definition. However, Texas socialists support and political gamesmanship contributed heavily to the growth and development of the Knights of Labor.
(Texas A&M University Press 2010) Advocacy for Texas laborers and support for the civil rights movement became the focus of proponents of socialist
political policies. Labor strikes and litigation against Texas based businesses routinely failed, illustrating the economic entrenchment of corporations
and their accompanying judicial and legislative alliances. As the political clout of the Knights of Labor waned, the weight of political influence

Those who opposed the industrialization of Manchester were more concerned with the well–being of those affected by it. These were poets, women,
socialists, and health reformers who were disturbed by the living and working conditions of the middle class and the peasantry. One protester was
Robert Southey, an English Romantic poet and author of Colloquies on the Progress and Prospects of Society in 1829. Being a Romantic poet,
Southey laments on the industrialization of the city and describes it as a miserable place where the buildings which are "without their antiquity,

Another protester is Frances Anne Kemble, an actress, poet, and dramatist, who, in her account of a journey of the Liverpool and Manchester
Railway in 1830, depicts a protest by the disgruntled working class over Corn Laws, which were tariffs on imported grain. In her depiction, the
protesters scorn the "triumphs of machinery" and the "gain and glory which wealthy Manchester men were likely to derive from it." This is a very
Romantic depiction, as the protesters are breaking free from their bonds to choose liberty over wealth. A final protester was Edwin Chadwick a public

George Orwell and Animal Farm: The Provocative Written Word in Political Protest
INTRODUCTION AND THESIS
Many writers, artists, novelists, journalists, and the sort seek to bring awareness to political and cultural issues through their work. It is not often,
though, that their work attains such critically acclaimed status and subsequently creates a platform by which people are moved to respond to the
writing's purpose.
George Orwell, however, had a knack for this talent. In his essay Why I Write (1946), he concluded that Animal Farm was the first book in which
he tried, with full consciousness of what he was doing, "to fuse political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole." Virtually every detail of the
book has allegorical significance (e.g., the revolt of the animals against Farmer Jones is Orwell's analogy with the October 1917 Bolshevik
Revolution). It is the book's political satire that especially provides its contemptuous nature. Orwell's book provides an excellent example of political
protest in unity with art, so much so that it earned a spot on the USSR's forbidden books list until the end of Communism. His writing was so
contemptuous, so intolerable, so invigorating, and so refreshing to certain classes of people that he created and contributed to movements, new ways of
thinking, and class warfare. Not many artists, whether they be writers or painters, can lay claim to such notoriety.

The Black And White Americans
The idea that affluence in a capitalist society can be achieved through hard work and dedication regardless of the social and economic circumstances of
the individual has been romanticized throughout history and entrenched in American thought culture. Private ownership is a hallmark of the
"American Dream", representing the opportunity for American citizens to achieve upward social mobility. Though America is famed for providing
equality of opportunity to American citizens, a look at America 's past tells a different story. After spending 245 years in slavery accumulating wealth

I reasoned that a tax credit would make the tax system fairer, support home–ownership among families with lower incomes, and generate substantial
revenues to fund asset–building programs for the poor. The problem with the tax credit policy is that it fails to break the lock–in because black
Americans face discrimination in the housing markets even today, so blacks would not benefit from the tax credit policy as much as poor white
Americans would. Anarcho–syndicalism is a political strategy that opposes exploitation and domination of the working class by replacing capitalism
and government control with a voluntary socialist system, in which the working class is in control of property and the means of production through the
formation of syndicate networks. If implemented correctly, anarcho–syndicalism stands to reduce the wealth gap between black and white Americans
over the next 50 years. Capitalism does not support equality, rather it discriminates against individuals in a society based on class, which is based on
occupation, income, and wealth; this is called social stratification. Black Americans have been racially stratified through many years of discrimination
to the point where much of the black population belong to the poor working class. Whites, being that they were the first to occupy positions of power
and own land, disproportionately make up the affluent ruling class. Capitalism is a profit–driven economic system where a small class of

Radicle Perspectives in International Relations
Radical Theory of International Relations
Radical Theory derives its views from Marxist Theory. It is therefore sometimes referred to as Marxism, Socialism or Socialists internationalism.
Radicals believe that the state is nothing more than a machine for the oppression of one class by another.
Although they consider the state to be an important actor in world affairs, they emphasize the conflicting interests of social classes. Classes (capitalists,
workers, and peasants), clash for control of state policy within countries, and the government pursue not some overall national interest but the interest
of the dominant class. States are not unitary actors. Classes exist within societies but they also span national boundaries. Capitalists ... Show more

of shack dwellers 'Abahlali BaseMjondolo' that continues to advocate for popular peoples planning and against the creation of a market economy in
land and housing. Today, many African countries have been accused of being exploited under neo

Marxism and the Negro Problem by W.E.B. Du Bois
In this essay, W.E.B. Du Bois attempts to analyze Marxism and how it might be interpreted and applied as a solution to the problems facing Black
people in the United States. Marxism, is basically an economic theory and philosophy that was put forward by Karl Marx in the late 19th century that
explains the mechanisms of the system of capitalism as it relates to the different classes of people and the development of history. Because of the high
regard that he had for Marx's work, and because of the influence that Marx's ideas and theories had on the French and Russian revolutions, Du Bois
believed that perhaps there might ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this conflict of interests that keeps socialism from being a viable force for social and political change in the United States.
In analyzing the problem Du Bois maintains a scientific outlook, free from emotional content and favoritism. To this degree, he demonstrates that
Black people in America play a minor role in their own exploitation by their attempts to join in the game of capitalism. Yet, for the most part, they
are limited in their efforts and consigned even then to a lesser petty bourgeois status. This, again, is due to the racial aspect of class that has been
introduced and become a fixed part the game of capitalism. As such Du Bois concludes that the interests of the Black proletarian class and the Black
petite bourgeoisie are aligned due to the commonality of racist subjugation and oppression at the hands of the White labor aristocracy, whose interests
are aligned with capitalism. In addition, he concludes that since this is the case, there can be no Marxian revolution based upon the principle of a
united class–conscious proletariat, and that in fact, if there is to be one, it will be the Black laborers who will be the vanguard of it. In coming to this
conclusion, Du Bois is making a radical adaptation to accepted Marxist philosophy, yet

Theme Of Socialism In The Industrial Revolution
Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which represents the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be
owned or regulated by the community as a whole. The origins of the socialism occurred during the industrial revolution. While Carl Marx wrote out the
way of socialism, it was actually developed in France. Socialism was first majorly adopted by the Russians after the Bolshevik party came to
power. Because Russia was such a great influence across Asia and eastern Europe they were able to spread socialism. When the cold war developed
after world war 2 there was a sodden need to spread socialism. The two super nations USSR and the USA batteled an indirect war to spread their
economic system. Americas capitalism and Russia socialism. During the cold war there were several rises in socialism in north African countries and
south American countries. But when the cold war came to an end, socialism spread to asian countries and most importantly china. The cold war had

Analyzing Upton Sinclair's 'The Jungle'
"How could the text be read and interpreted differently by two different readers?"
The novel, "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair can be interpreted differently by modern impoverished American immigrants/minorities and the modern
American rich class. "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair is a fictional novel and was published in 1906. It was based on the lives of the individuals he
observed in Chicago around that time. He discovered that the lower–working class there was doing horrific work for not enough pay to get themselves,
let alone their families, by. He emphasizes on the flaws of the "American Dream" and writes in the support of the Socialist party of the time. The book

However, some may come to the deeper meaning of this text that the author was trying to get across. Some being the flaws of Capitalism and the
"American Dream"; Social Darwinism, only the financially "fit" survive; and how Socialism could be the answer to those who need support
financially. These issues have trailed the United States for many years, one example of a result of these issues is the creation of the Black Panther
Party in the 1960's; due to African American's limited rights, inability to find a good paying job, and cold hatred towards the government. However,
because of the ignorance by the majority of upper–class citizens, they would interpret the book as an attempt to persuade others to look down on
Capitalism due to the struggles portrayed in the book in result of corrupt rich folk.
In conclusion; the novel, "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair can be interpreted differently by different groups of people and social classes. Especially of
those who are impoverished American immigrants/minorities and the modern American rich class. This is largely due to upbringings, financial
stability, workplace environments, and education. This book regardless of who is reading it does however expose the difficulties of the workforce for
immigrants and minorities alike in the early 1900's in cities such as Chicago. It also reveals the

Is Communism Or Utopia?
When a person asks, "What is communism?" many respond negatively often criticizing communism. Communism, a theory co–developed by Friedrich
Engels and Karl Marx, was an ideology where everyone is equal and had this idea of utopia. But why has communism become so dystopian instead of
utopian? First of all, it has to be clarified that there is no pure capitalism nor communism. However, socialism is not exactly the center of the two but
has traits from both. Rather, there is a spectrum where countries are at and might lean towards capitalism or communism. And a democratic country can
be communist. Then what is communism? It most certainly cannot be defined by the definitions given today by average–minded people. Communism
is not a system that has to have a dictator. AlthoughMarxism has made a gateway into modern communism and socialism, Marxism ... Show more

First of all, greed plays a disturbing factor of implementing Marxism. Being greedy often leads to breaking the system, which is cheating. It is
possible to cheat in any system but one person breaking the system often leads to group, which eventually leads to a revolt from the citizens. It also
requires giving something up, regardless of who you are. The citizens have to give up their capital to the government while the government in return
has to increase expenses on their citizens. The second reason is that it only works with medium wealth and no greed. Poor people might benefit as
they would receive more in return than give but then in return, the government would have very little to take from them. It would not work in wealthy
backgrounds as they would not willingly donate all of their capital and power. Only people in the middle with decent living and very little greed are
able to live under Marxism. The third reason is that it results in an overpowering government that collects high taxes, anything from deceased parents,
and limits anything by the

he admired them at the same time. He believed in the divine right of kings, the theory claimed that, kings were only answerable to God, and it was

A reason why Bulow may have proposed to lower the tariff rate is because of the power the Social Democrats and Left Liberals held in the Reichstag
as opposed to the Conservatives in 1902. Therefore, this meant that there would be no political backlash towards the Chancellor thus the Kaiser was
less likely to force him to resign. Eventually, the tariff was lowered to pre–1982 levels, and was effectively a compromise between the Social
Democrats, National Liberals and the Free Conservatives. This left the working class content; subsequently meaning they applied less pressure upon
the government. Bulow's decision was backed up the following year by the election result where the Socialists gained 25 seats and the Conservatives
lost 4 seats. This is an example of the declining influence of the Junkers, and more importantly an example of democracy. The Hottentot election was
the name given to the election in 1907 and resulted after the Kaiser dissolved the Reichstag after they failed to support Bulow's government in their
proposal of using more money to suppress the rebels in the Colony of German South West Africa and to compensate the white settlers. The
government's election campaign was anti–socialist, anti–Catholic and Nationalistic. The result was that Social Democrat seats were halved, and right
wing parties gained seats. As a result, 'Bulow bloc' a coalition was formed which comprised of the

Laissez-Faire Capitalism
Founded on democracy and freedom, the United States' very roots are being attacked. Although the transition has been passive and nearly undetectable,
America's fundamental beliefs in the freedom of the individual are gradually being modified. As government intervention continues to burgeon,
American citizens' rights are beginning to diminish. This is noticeable through the implementation of federal health care (known as the Affordable Care
Act) and the overall increase of government involvement in regards to the lives of its people. This results in a reduced ability for laissez–faire capitalism
, which literally translates to "leave alone" in French–an economic theory in which the economy is run without the government's involvement. While no

This further hinders the spreading of bigotry by allowing minorities to surface and form alliances to protest unfair treatment. The freedom to join with
fellow citizens in peaceful protest and assembly is critical to a functioning democracy and allows for these alliances to fight the discrimination
prevalent in today's culture. This allowance of public speech is vitally important for a country to be successful and strong within its own borders. For
example, if a country governed under a constitutional democratic republic sees its leader as nefarious or scheming, they can impeach him or her with
peaceful protest, instead of forming a violent mob of citizens. A historical example of a lack of freedom to protest peacefully can be seen in the French
Revolution. The king and queen were terribly unqualified and incompetent leaders, which lead the country to famine and financial crisis. However at
this time, France's government was a monarchy, which does not allow for the freedom to protest peacefully. This forced citizens to form mobs and
respond with a violent outbreak against the throne, resulting in the death of both King Louis XVI, and Queen Marie Antoinette ("French
Revolutionaries"). On the other hand, modern–day examples of alliances that have formed due to the freedom of association and freedom to assemble
peacefully include the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER), and the National
Urban League ("Civil Rights"). On their website, the NGLTF explains the history of their formation and

absurd as putting a saddle on a cow'. Moreover ,everything was under control of the Polish Government of Stalin, including a lot of spheres as
culture, social aspects of life and economy. As government had all the power in their hands, people were absolutely deprived of power. That kind

Cultural Analysis : Mardi Gras : Made In China
Although the world climate around exploitation has altered in the last few years, mostly moving away from the exploited industrial countries such as
China, it is still important to look at what was happening in China so that it can be understood in connection with today. The documentary by Robert
Redmon, Mardi Gras: Made in China focuses on the exploited Chinese factory workers crafting various beads for the Americans to throw at each
other for sexual gratification. The documentary does a good job jumping back and forth between the factory workers and the celebrators of Mardis
Gras, creating an interesting parallel, implicating the absolute uselessness in the beads for such a large cost. Marx's theories of exploitation through
Capitalism can be tied too well to the Chinese–Mardi Gras beads exploitation, as the Chinese workers were put through an extreme form of Capitalist
exploitation that even Marx may never have expected.
Marx's theory on Capitalist exploitation is an incredibly deep theory, but to explain it in a nutshell, it is that the working–class people are improperly
compensated for their work. The rich, the higher–ups, they continue to expand their wealth by exploiting the working class, the Capitalist system not
only allows but effectively demands that Capitalists increase their wealth, long–term or short–term, whether at the cost of the working–class or not.

An End To The Negro Woman Analysis
Marxism is a method of analyzing socioeconomic status. This idea/method of Marxism started in the mid to late 19th century with the philosophers
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles: they analyzed the class relationships and the societal conflict. The Marxist methodology used economic, social, and
political ideas to understand the development of capitalism and the role of class struggle in relation with the economic change. The analysis showed
that the class conflict came from the problems between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. The proletariat were the laborers of the factories and the
mines. The bourgeoisie were the private owners of these factories and mines. As the problem between the two groups of people grew, the proletariat

Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in the United States? According to Marxist revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a
necessary precondition to the development of socialism. Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers' labor but
not sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois
government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most

According to Marxist theory, it should have been impossible for Russia to achieve socialism. It was the least industrialized country in Europe, and most
of its population consisted of peasants rather than a class–conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country
like the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the course of the past 110 years, historians,
political scientists, and economists have all attempted to explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart's 1906
assessment of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner's critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984, and these works' conversation with

socialism was "a necessary reaction to capitalism," and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no such thing had transpired by
the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book–length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten

Capitalism versus Socialism
Capitalism versus socialism
It is much better to live in a country where difference between poor and rich is noticeable, than to know that a person will never differ from others in
his or her own country. My essay will be based on the following the definition, characteristics', types of capitalism and socialism, features, socialism as
alternative to capitalism and social change and economic development. What is capitalism? Capitalism is an economic and political system in
which all means of production and distribution are privately owned and operated within a free market society. What is Socialism? Socialism is an
economic and political system in which all means of production and distribution are collectively owned and operated by all members of society. They
both have pros and cons capitalism promotes free market system, people are free to create almost any product or provide service and it has
self–regulating system. In capitalist system you have choices, incentives and freedom, another thing about capitalism is that it aims to preserve
economic freedom from excessive government control. Most capitalist believe in in the French expression Laissez–Faire, which means "leave it alone".
Capitalism term by Karl Max it is whereby small group of people own large amount of money, land and resources. It is has profit motive. In
capitalism things are made well enough to outdo the competition in order to maximize profits. It's a dog eat dog world, the survival of the fittest.

The Great Depression (1929–1939) is the worst economic downturn that the modern world has ever seen before. Beginning with the Wall Street stock

lower class. Wages did not grow nearly as quickly as production did during this era, so many people were unable to purchase certain goods. As a
result, there was an excess in supply, which prompted layoffs in several industries. In fact, the national unemployment rate jumped from just four
percent to twenty five percent during the onset of the Depression. However, farmers arguably suffered the most during this time as the value of their

Capitalism And Social Darwinism
Throughout history, society has been organized by and for the ruling classes at the expense of those who work and produce. And throughout history,
the ruling class has been usurped and replaced by the next in line to rule society. And every time a new class comes into power they proclaim their
state to be the only state in which humans can function, from the Chinese emperors getting their mandate from heaven, to the captains of industry
utilizing social darwinism. Yet despite what these ruling classes say about their own permanence, history shows a constant trend towards freedom,
towards the emancipation of all people from class society. Currently we live under a bourgeois dictatorship, or a society in which the capitalist class
are the dominant class. This is what creates capitalism, a system in which the means of production, exchange, and distribution are privately owned in a
for–profit market economy. Socialism, however, seeks to replace the bourgeois dictatorship with a dictatorship of the proletariat, a society ruled by
and for the working class as a whole. In this society the means of production, exchange, and distribution would be held in common in a democratically
planned economy. If one has a firm grasp of history it is clear that transitioning to socialism, followed by communism, is the natural progression of
human society. Socialism, therefore, seems to be an inevitability. In light of this it is important to understand socialism economically, politically, and

Colonialism made a profound impact on the economic development in Tanzania. The general motive behind colonization was the acquisition of raw

second image, could have influenced the view that European's had and displayed in the scene from "Ghandi" which pertains to the first image. In both
scenarios, Europeans saw the African people as inferior and unequal. They felt the need to obtain full control and civilization over the Africans and
their homeland. 2) The first image, image I, is a depiction of well–known philosopher and socialist, Karl Marx. Socialists believed that it was possible
to create a society free of class divisions and poverty where everyone was happy and fulfilling their potential. This picture of Marx represents the
phenomenon of "scientific socialism" which is a theory that was developed by Marx. He argued that he had proven that there would be a communist
revolution in the future based on his study of human history. Marx backed his theory by stating that he had found historical laws of society that told
there was an inevitable collapse of the capitalist system. He believed

Negative Impacts Of Nationalism
The Nationalist movement began during French Revolution when country men rallied together to go to war against Communism. Nationalism was
invented in Europe by intellectuals who were inspired by Napoleons conquest. This ideology to changed people's perspective about what their country
meant to them. Unified States such as Italy, Germany were created during a great migration that formed unified states. Instead of the smaller societies
people once lived in became a nation of individuals in certain countries that they could call their own. Nationalism has also helped in the improvement
of incomes and education by helping those citizens to come together for a common good. The negative impacts of nationalism is the imposing of views

These countries sought the right to have their own established entity and through this imperialism spread. Europeans felt a sense of entitlement over
other nations. They chose to impose their views whenever they conquered other societies. The 19th century Europe sent missionaries to use
Christianity as means to conquer African people. Missionaries used a conversion process to build schools, hospitals, and teach english to the native
people. Christianity was used to gain trust of the people in order to impose Europe ideologies on local customs. Even today you can still see the
influences of western culture in many parts of the world. The most significant part of globalization is the ability to introduce new cultural ideas into
others.
Portugal was the first in its efforts to impose imperialism in modern day Brazil. It was used as a port to Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe. The
discovery of sugar lands and gold was given to the Portugal King by his nobles. They enslaved not only the indigenous people of the land but
eventually imported Africans because the demand for sugar cane was so great. Once sugar became too competitive of a market, they reverted to gold
that was found in Menius Gerias, Brazil. This created the first gold rush. Portugal and Britain soon found an uneven alliance in which Britain was
entitled to the same right as Portugal. Portugal imposed imperialism on Brazil by gaining useful resources to advance their own society. The

The Role Of Marxism And Its Role In Inequality In America

  • 1. The Role Of Marxism And Its Role In Inequality In America Zainab Naeem Joel Franks AAS Sec 6 Oct 21st, 2015 Marxism and its Role in Inequality in America Marxism, by Karl Marx and associate Friedrich Engles, is a theory written in the second half of the 1800s. The theory highlights the capitalistic impact it has on society in whole, including how it exploits the different classes and their differing struggles. Withcapitalism making way into the picture of humanity, Karl Marx views the system as a step closer to a more socialistic society that will one day conquer the inequality between people. Marxism reflects the American capitalist system by highlighting the divide in experiences between the classes and how a range of hierarchies' influence those who are categorized in these classes. Viewed by Marxism as a structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People who were non–white were exploited for their labor, forced out from their nation and then forced into forming a colonial relationship with white people. Although, it is true people who were white but poor were exploited, and discriminated against, it was not as bad compared to Mexicans, Native Americans and African Americans. The matter of race also applied to sex; Women who were white had more rights and were paid higher compared to women who were not white. Although they were still less valued than white males, white women were still held higher and paid more than those who are of color. The divide between people of color and those who are not of color is a product due to Institutional Racism; Racism has been bred so deep into the American economic and political society that it has become a part of everyday life and isn't as easily identifiable, it comes as natural. In order to stop institutional racism, a revolutionary and extensive event must occur to help reverse the affects of racial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Analysis Of ' The ' Of ' Ragtime ' Socialism in America E3 Argumentative essay Sonia Rani 3/17/2017 Ragtime is an interesting depiction of cultural and political change. It can be argued that the story is not just a reflection of the events in the 20th Century but the novel reflects the events that continue to happen until today in socialism. For instance, the novel gives a glimpse of the kind of life experienced by many African Americans. They were victimized by the society and the persons in authority refuse to help them. Even in the 21st Century, it cannot be denied that African Americans are still subjected to discrimination in socialism. Throughout the stories in this novel character represent that change and partiality. Because of the massive development, there was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But he proves himself a good example of socialism as socialist. In Ragtime, historical elements like E. Zapata, Emma Goldman, Coalhouse, mother's younger brother, Tateh and district attorney reveals as a political example. In socialism, the state also has a character of the class, but its content is opposed to that of the bourgeois state: it becomes, for the first time in history, a state of the clear majority exploited against the tiny exploitative or privileged minority (Rozman, 2014). Rozman (2014) explains that Conversions to traditional socialism became more evident after World War II, with the Cold War and later with the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. So, as Ragtime, because it was written in about 20th century. Since then, socialist regimes have been adopting more flexible stances. Real socialism is developed socialism during the twentieth century. Currently, the socialist countries are Cuba, China, North Korea, Laos, and Vietnam. Ragtime also depicts politics between relationship, at court, as a victim, and attacking people for the sake of justice. On the other hand, ideal socialism is that developed in the nineteenth century, the main thinker of socialism was Karl Marx, for him this regime arose from capitalism and its means of production, having its control played by the proletarian, as well as the state, which would later be extinguished, giving rise to communism that corresponds to a society Without ... THE PROBLEM HE TRIED TO SOLVE C. THE EXTENT TO WHICH HE WAS SUCCESSFUL. African socialism was one of the earliest theories proffered by many African leaders at the outset of independence. Leaders such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Obafemi Awolowo and Leopold Senghor all supported this concept but had different approaches to it. In this essay, my focus will be on Julius Nyerere and his approach to the idea of African socialism. In the area of achieving self–reliance by African states particularly Tanzania, Nyerere developed an educational philosophy which could be approached under two main headings; Education for Self–reliance and Adult education. His interest in Self–reliance shares a great deal with Gandhi's approach to 'Basic Education'. There was a strong concern to counteract the colonialists' assumptions and practices of the dominant, formal means of education, which he saw as enslaving and oriented towards 'western' interest and norms. It was designed to transmit the values of the colonizing power and to train individuals for the service of the colonial state. It induced attitudes of subservience, human inequality and individualism, and emphasized white–collar skills. The context of colonial education was largely alien and the entire system was organized by racial segregation. For Nyerere who was once a teacher himself, he believed that education had to work for the common good, foster co–operation and promote equality. He asserted that the school curriculum should go hand in hand with de–emphasizing the import of formal examinations which merely assesses a person's ability to learn facts. He said it was necessary for African states to abandon examinations that are geared towards

These ideologies were introduced and analysed by multiple individuals. Liberalism, socialism, nationalism and imperialism are the some of the powerful ideologies that impacted the society development. The 19th century ism's principles were influential during their time and have changed over the years. The ideologies are very influential till this day and it is the main reason of why our modern society is the way it is. Even though each of of these ideologies have different beliefs, principles and goals, they have many similarities supporting each other. Western Europe has been governed by a monarchy system for many years which limited rights of citizens and the representative government. But during the 19th century the ideology of liberalism which derived from the Enlightenment phase, emphasized the civil rights of citizens, representative government and protection of private property. Liberals wanted to have a written constitution and a government that leaned towards democracy. They also wanted to expand franchise, the right to vote, however the liberals still were not sure if women should have the right to vote yet. Also liberals were more for laissez–faire philosophy which is a minimum government intervention. They believed the less government involvement, the better the economy will be. • 6. The History Of Communism Communism is an economic system where the government owns the means of production, and is one where there is no private ownership because it is under the control of the communities or the state. Since its proposal in 1848 by German Philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, in their book, "The Communist Manifesto", there are many who have been influenced by the writings of Marx and Engels. This has led to many revolutions and establishments of governments with the "communist ideals" of peace, solidarity, and labour. The communists of today do not have to live in fear as the communists during the McCarthy era, where thousands of Americans were monitored and questioned regarding their loyalty to the United States. During this time, the "Red... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those who oppose them, from everyday people to the media, will point to the statistics. They will state that communism killed 100 million people in the 20th century, but the counterargument to that is simply to point out the fact thatcapitalism kills, and has killed, more people every 5.5 years. One need only look at the statistics, such as those mentioned in the article: "Attempting the Impossible – Calculating Capitalisms Death Toll" where the numbers are crunched together, and by looking throughout the history of capitalism and its influences. Also, one can think of many more deaths ranging from African slavery, Manifest Destiny, the colonization of Africa, and to the many wars brought on or backed by capitalist countries. The claim of the opposition is always that capitalist countries were protecting their interests and allies, but it does not warrant the unrestrained use of excessive force, especially when non–capitalist countries attempt it and are met with massive condemnations and sanctions by capitalist countries. Opposition will say that communism starves the people. In the dictatorship of countries claiming to be communists, this is true, but to those who use it to point to the "evils" of communism need to see that capitalism is no better, it is even worse. In capitalist societies, particularly the United States, that boasts of power and prestige, one has to wonder why millions die in a country that has the means and equipment to feed the hungry, but would rather spend it on big businesses while an old man struggles to keep his small store from failing, a country that can provide healthcare coverage to all, but would rather have a family pay out of pocket. They can do all of this, but they do not. Yet they feel that they are in the right to call communism "evil", and say that it will not work. It will not work for the big ... • 7. How Did The Socialist Party Influence Social Reform? During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the socialist movement was destined to hold collective control of the modern economy. Socialism, in popular definition is the political movement to replace the profit motive and private ownership of productive property (Schneirov 2003). In 1901, the Socialist Party of America was born in order to meet these goals. The primary purpose of the party was to eradicate capitalism over time and to develop political reform (ency). Although the Socialist Party of America did not have the impact that the Democratic and Republican parties had, it is still regarded as having great influence on reform. These were many issues that were not being targeted by other parties during that timeframe. However, Persuading americans to join the american labor movement or even vote for it was constantly rejected. Due to the lack of influence in American politics, it was surprising how much of an influence the Socialist party contributed to the labor movement. For instance Seidler (1961) states "The impact of the Socialist Party on the American labor movement goes far beyond the fact that some labor leaders of great national prominence have been significantly affected by it" (211). • 8. The Impact Of Rosa Luxemburg The impact of Rosa Luxemburg's materialist conception of history in Social Reform or Revolution, arguably became greater after national independence had been achieved in the nations of the Third World. Luxemburg's assassination afforded her opponents the opportunity to completely undermine her theory – her work was dismissed by her critics as it was seen to being completely fallacious in its interpretation of the accumulation of capital. However, as Luxemburg's particular strand of revolutionary Marxism lost its momentum in Europe, it began to pick up traction in the developing nations of the Third World. The strength of her critique of revisionism, thus, lies in its ability to transcend both international boundaries and political epoch's. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A large portion of the Black population who voted for the African National Congress (ANC) in the inaugural democratic election, did so because they believed that a government–approved socialist revolution was on the cards. The ANC and the South African Communist Party (SACP), under the leadership of Joe Slovo, had been open about their commitment to their two–stage strategy – the struggles against apartheid and capitalism were two separate battles, that had to be addressed in two separate stages. National liberation would need to be achieved, before the question of a socialist revolution could be addressed. Luxemburg's critique of revisionism seemed to reign true in this scenario – the struggle against apartheid came to overshadow the struggle for a socialist transformation. The mass revolutionary struggle of the 1980's came to be replaced by a reluctant acceptance of reformism. The reformists within the South African government argued that capitalism had reached a stage in which it was no longer necessary to call for revolution. They are Adam Smith, Max Weber, and Karl Marx (Franks, 35). These three have inspired a lot of people down the years. Adam Smith is known as the theoretical father of modern economics. In 1776, Smith argued that the "invisible hand" of the market would change the economics of a nation and it would make the nation better. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The history of Marxism is controversial, and the ideas have influenced a lot of men and women to address social issues. Karl Marx stated that the occurrence of capitalism brought humanity a necessary step closer to socialism and the conquest of human inequality (Frank, 30). This is an inevitable part of the development of human society. According to scholar Mario Barrera, traditional Marxists thinks that a class is a group of people who have a similar relationship in things that they use in their daily lives, such as food, houses, and appliances (Franks, 30). Also, Marxists address that each society has its own particular class structure. In addition, Marxists have defined three primary classes that currently exist in a capitalist social system, and they can be found in the United States. The first group of classes consists of capitalists, people who own and control an enormous proportion of productive property in the United States. Having productive property means being able to produce products, such as producing products that people demand. In this case, capitalists are wealthy because they hold an overwhelming amount of productive property. The second group of classes consists of workers, people who have cars, computers. cell phones, and homes, but they own little of productive property. The reason is that most of their income comes from their wages, salaries, and tips. They do not own company themselves. The third group of classes compose by the bourgeoisie, who ... Thus, this piece of writing will mention, discuss and bring forward the irrationality of choosing either freedom over equality or visa versa, without having a harmonious counterbalance between the two factors, implemented by a regulatory body. It will also include examples of countries which "total freedom" or "total equality" is in practice, where the search for total freedom led to total anarchy, or the pursuit for total equality curtailed the freedom in all areas of life. This short writing will be concluded with a personal view. The idea of choosing either one of these two factors will somehow seems vague. All citizens were to be treated equally in regard to Karl Max's ideology, but equality in that sense was incompatible with the situation the country was in. A struggle for freedom started to take form just after 5 years of scientific socialism, opposing the total equality with which the state imposed upon it is citizens. And in 1990, after many years of rebellion, the citizens were successful to overthrow the "Scientific–Socialism" based government but unfortunately could not replace it with a fair government. Instead Somalia's quest for total freedom became worse than total equality. Equality in freedom can mostly be seen in democratic countries where, citizens are able to politically elect their leaders, express their views and economically have an equal opportunity, though that extent of freedom and equality is restricted by a state regulation. As humans naturally, we believe that it is rather better to be free than not to be free, and in some cases we don't consider equality to be of great worth. One good example that proofs that theory true is, the African slaves in the western world, who fought and campaigned to be freed from slavery and to see slavery business abolished all together. They were struggling to be free, without having in mind that equality is indeed necessary in their struggle. As we know they were later freed from being slaves and regarded as freemen and women, but the main obstacle that hindered their progress in integrating into their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1960s when African states gain independence, many leaders felt that they can not celebrate their victory if they continue using the economic–political system that has been established by colonizers such as capitalism. They wanted a unique economic and political system with no resemblance of outside influence. AfricanSocialism was then a unique political ideology and identity of Africa. African socialism failed to deliver its promises and saved people from the aftermaths of colonialism. Many African leaders failed to put in practice policies that they preached during the African socialism adoption, they also lacked proper planning. Therefore, African socialism seemed as the mislaid philosophy idealism, worthless development with broken political promises which contained so many contradictions that then hindered its successfulness. Ujamaa policies shared the same basis and fallacy of development that has propelled and inhibited successive development initiative in Africa. This is objectification of African peasants and rural settlers as the hopeless sufferers of colonial era who were supposed to be lifted to higher levels of social and material well being. • 12. Character Analysis : ' The Eyes Of People With Grand... Character is defined as "the mental and moral qualities, distinctive to an individual." Character is in fact something that all human beings have the ability to shape and curve as we grow older. Each day, each opportunity, each encounter, can prove to change our character day in and day out. Character is essentially a direct source of success for most. The better mental and moral qualities that person wields, the better their chances are at becoming accomplished in life. Character through the eyes of people with grand eminence such as George C. Marshall and A. Phillip Randolph seems to take a while to achieve. Their character is so advantageous to most because of the process it took for them to attain it. The constitution of character for both of these individuals was beyond a lengthy course of action. It took many years for these men to become great leaders in their respected fields, their character did not transpire overnight. These men are now venerated for infinite generations by those who have the utmost opportunity to learn about their legacies. So, what allows for a person to attain good character that will help to translate in success in the future? The answer lies in precious time. Time is key to the development of character, as the longer one can develop their character the more success they will have throughout their life. George C. Marshall, our 15th US army chief of staff, 50th Secretary of State, and 3rd Secretary of Defense, was the self–master of character. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Screwmen's Benevolent Association, The Knights of Labor and the Farmers Alliance are a few of the leading labor organizations in Texas. Established socialist communities were natural supporters for unionization based on their beliefs in cooperation for the greater good. Within a transformative decade for Texas workers, the Knights of Labor reached the pinnacle of its influence, failed a railroad strike in 1886 and eventually transformed into an agrarian and mechanics' organization. (A&M and Reid 2009) The growing influence of the Knights of Labor improved the standing of socialists by extension. In reality, the union was not socialist organization by definition. However, Texas socialists support and political gamesmanship contributed heavily to the growth and development of the Knights of Labor. • 16. Analysis Of George Orwell And Animal Farm Essay Richard Cortez Professor Sharon Pittman HUM 314 13 December 2016 George Orwell and Animal Farm: The Provocative Written Word in Political Protest INTRODUCTION AND THESIS Many writers, artists, novelists, journalists, and the sort seek to bring awareness to political and cultural issues through their work. It is not often, though, that their work attains such critically acclaimed status and subsequently creates a platform by which people are moved to respond to the writing's purpose. George Orwell, however, had a knack for this talent. In his essay Why I Write (1946), he concluded that Animal Farm was the first book in which he tried, with full consciousness of what he was doing, "to fuse political purpose and artistic purpose into one whole." Virtually every detail of the book has allegorical significance (e.g., the revolt of the animals against Farmer Jones is Orwell's analogy with the October 1917 Bolshevik Revolution). It is the book's political satire that especially provides its contemptuous nature. Orwell's book provides an excellent example of political protest in unity with art, so much so that it earned a spot on the USSR's forbidden books list until the end of Communism. His writing was so contemptuous, so intolerable, so invigorating, and so refreshing to certain classes of people that he created and contributed to movements, new ways of thinking, and class warfare. Not many artists, whether they be writers or painters, can lay claim to such notoriety. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To this degree, he demonstrates that Black people in America play a minor role in their own exploitation by their attempts to join in the game of capitalism. Yet, for the most part, they are limited in their efforts and consigned even then to a lesser petty bourgeois status. This, again, is due to the racial aspect of class that has been introduced and become a fixed part the game of capitalism. As such Du Bois concludes that the interests of the Black proletarian class and the Black petite bourgeoisie are aligned due to the commonality of racist subjugation and oppression at the hands of the White labor aristocracy, whose interests are aligned with capitalism. In addition, he concludes that since this is the case, there can be no Marxian revolution based upon the principle of a united class–conscious proletariat, and that in fact, if there is to be one, it will be the Black laborers who will be the vanguard of it. The freedom to join with fellow citizens in peaceful protest and assembly is critical to a functioning democracy and allows for these alliances to fight the discrimination prevalent in today's culture. This allowance of public speech is vitally important for a country to be successful and strong within its own borders. For example, if a country governed under a constitutional democratic republic sees its leader as nefarious or scheming, they can impeach him or her with peaceful protest, instead of forming a violent mob of citizens. A historical example of a lack of freedom to protest peacefully can be seen in the French Revolution. The king and queen were terribly unqualified and incompetent leaders, which lead the country to famine and financial crisis. However at this time, France's government was a monarchy, which does not allow for the freedom to protest peacefully. This forced citizens to form mobs and respond with a violent outbreak against the throne, resulting in the death of both King Louis XVI, and Queen Marie Antoinette ("French Revolutionaries"). On the other hand, modern–day examples of alliances that have formed due to the freedom of association and freedom to assemble peacefully include the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER), and the National Urban League ("Civil Rights"). A lot of countries were influenced by the Communism. Poland had a really complicated situation because of Iosef Stalin and his Communist Party. He described his points of view in a very clear way, 'Imposing Communism on Poland was as absurd as putting a saddle on a cow'. Moreover ,everything was under control of the Polish Government of Stalin, including a lot of spheres as culture, social aspects of life and economy. As government had all the power in their hands, people were absolutely deprived of power. That kind of period was strongly disliked by people and brought a lot of strikes, protections and even attacks. As the result, the Communism system had a bad influence on the development of Poland. The Deception Of Communism In Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man The word "communism" holds endless of emanations from thousands of different people, but under every single aura it gives, it continues to have the same meaning– holding public ownership of the land and the disappearance of social classes. The communist ideology is to create a better world for the socially oppressed. In his novel, Invisible Man, Ralph Ellison shows why African Americans were attracted to the ideology and why it failed to meet their hopes because of the deception and manipulation by groups symbolized by the Brotherhood. In reality, the communist party was actually working on making more of a united infrastructure of all workers', not just people of color. During World War II, the resignation of Philip Randolph, who was the leader of the Negro National Congress, took a toll on the way the black community viewed the communist party and it's beliefs. It began to turn downhill once Adolf Hitler attacked the Soviet Union, leading the party to "denounce Randolph's proposed March on Washington against employment discrimination in war industries, arguing that it might harm production" (Wikipedia), and by doing this, the party contradicted the help they offered earlier to people of color in labor ... • 30. Cultural Analysis : Mardi Gras : Made In China Although the world climate around exploitation has altered in the last few years, mostly moving away from the exploited industrial countries such as China, it is still important to look at what was happening in China so that it can be understood in connection with today. The documentary by Robert Redmon, Mardi Gras: Made in China focuses on the exploited Chinese factory workers crafting various beads for the Americans to throw at each other for sexual gratification. The documentary does a good job jumping back and forth between the factory workers and the celebrators of Mardis Gras, creating an interesting parallel, implicating the absolute uselessness in the beads for such a large cost. Marx's theories of exploitation through Capitalism can be tied too well to the Chinese–Mardi Gras beads exploitation, as the Chinese workers were put through an extreme form of Capitalist exploitation that even Marx may never have expected. Marx's theory on Capitalist exploitation is an incredibly deep theory, but to explain it in a nutshell, it is that the working–class people are improperly compensated for their work. The rich, the higher–ups, they continue to expand their wealth by exploiting the working class, the Capitalist system not only allows but effectively demands that Capitalists increase their wealth, long–term or short–term, whether at the cost of the working–class or not. This idea/method of Marxism started in the mid to late 19th century with the philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles: they analyzed the class relationships and the societal conflict. The Marxist methodology used economic, social, and political ideas to understand the development of capitalism and the role of class struggle in relation with the economic change. The analysis showed that the class conflict came from the problems between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. The proletariat were the laborers of the factories and the mines. The bourgeoisie were the private owners of these factories and mines. As the problem between the two groups of people grew, the proletariat saw that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Marxist revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a necessary precondition to the development of socialism. Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers' labor but not sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most advanced form of capitalism in the world, it was the most likely setting for a proletarian revolution, yet, no socialist or labor party has ... It was the least industrialized country in Europe, and most of its population consisted of peasants rather than a class–conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country like the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the course of the past 110 years, historians, political scientists, and economists have all attempted to explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart's 1906 assessment of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner's critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984, and these works' conversation with each other and other studies. German economist and sociologist Werner Sombart agreed with the basic Marxist assertion that the development of socialism was "a necessary reaction to capitalism," and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no such thing had transpired by the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book–length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten keinen Sozialismus? Beginning with the Wall Street stock market crash of 1929, the situation grew worse in the United States, in part, due to the tremendous wealth disparity between the higher class and the lower class. Wages did not grow nearly as quickly as production did during this era, so many people were unable to purchase certain goods. As a result, there was an excess in supply, which prompted layoffs in several industries. In fact, the national unemployment rate jumped from just four percent to twenty five percent during the onset of the Depression. • 36. Capitalism And Social Darwinism Throughout history, society has been organized by and for the ruling classes at the expense of those who work and produce. And throughout history, the ruling class has been usurped and replaced by the next in line to rule society. And every time a new class comes into power they proclaim their state to be the only state in which humans can function, from the Chinese emperors getting their mandate from heaven, to the captains of industry utilizing social darwinism. Yet despite what these ruling classes say about their own permanence, history shows a constant trend towards freedom, towards the emancipation of all people from class society. Currently we live under a bourgeois dictatorship, or a society in which the capitalist class are the dominant class. This is what creates capitalism, a system in which the means of production, exchange, and distribution are privately owned in a for–profit market economy. Socialism, however, seeks to replace the bourgeois dictatorship with a dictatorship of the proletariat, a society ruled by and for the working class as a whole. In this society the means of production, exchange, and distribution would be held in common in a democratically planned economy. If one has a firm grasp of history it is clear that transitioning to socialism, followed by communism, is the natural progression of human society. Socialism, therefore, seems to be an inevitability. These economic structures established by the colonial powers had lasting implications which affected the independent government's economic performance.
